Product Description
Let us redefine latex - forget rubber gloves and balloons. Our proprietary process produces a resilient, responsive foam completely unlike traditional memory foam. Paired with our zoned support, which features larger pin-core holes in the center and smaller around the perimeter, the Zoned Talalay Latex Pillow cradles the head and supports the neck. Available in High Loft Plush, High Loft Firm, Low Loft Plush, and Low Loft Firm - though traditional firm and soft descriptors do not match the uniquely springy feel of Talalay latex. High loft and firm options will feel lighter and more responsive than their memory foam counterparts. Z Talalay Latex pillows are created through a manufacturing process using latex derived from sustainable rubber trees. The milky sap tapped from these tropical trees is whipped, poured, chilled, and finally heated to set the unique foam consistency. The zoned technology combines comfort and support by way of a pin-core design configured to cradle your head while providing your neck and shoulders with needed support. Due to its proprietary production process, Talalay is the most resilient and consistent latex. The 100 percent natural cotton removable cover offers a crisp, clean, and breathable pillow surface. All foam products will have a slight (and harmless) smell when you first receive them - this will dissipate in a few days. We offer a 5-year U. S. warranty that protects the pillow and cover against manufacturer defect.

I'm a stomach/side sleeper and had been doing research on how a pillow can affect morning back pain. I had been using inexpensive store bought pillows my entire life, but after doing extensive research, and reading every single Amazon review on this product, I decided to try the latex zoned pillow. Initially, I bought the plush version, but I loved it so much, a few weeks later I also bought the firm version, so this review applies to both.
B. The Smell.
First, let me address the top criticism I see in other reviews. True to the other reviews, this pillow does have an initial strong smell (I consider it akin to the new car smell). However, that smell was significantly reduced after just one day, and completely gone within 3 days. Personally, I didn't find the smell offensive enough to even wait a day before use. But, since each person is different, all it takes to get around the smell is to take the pillow out of the sealed plastic bag it comes in, and let it air out a few days before using. The smell will be completely gone forever, so don't let warnings of a strong smell stop you from experiencing this product.
C. The Product in Use.
I have experienced four unique benefits due to this pillow:
1) Spinal column alignment.
This pillow has all but eliminated my back pain. As a stomach sleeper, when my head sinks into the pillow, while my shoulders do not, my spine naturally straightens. I get the same benefit when I sleep on my side. This is a major change from before, where my head and shoulders stayed level, forcing my spine into a slight curve. I find that the slightly extra straightening of the spine has taken away the back pain almost completely.
2) Neck support.
Before I often woke up with a crook in my neck if I were in deep sleep. And if I weren't in deep sleep, I kept waking up to change positions. If you think about it, your head and neck or not flush so when you sleep that way, you're begging for neck pain. Most of us use multiple pillows to create the ideal setup, but whoa to those who fall into deep sleep without doing this, or who move out of the optimal position while sleeping. The way this pillow is designed, the edged of the pillow is firmer than the center, due to the larger size of the holes at the center (hence the term "zoned"). It's hardly noticeable until you lay on it, but because of that small difference, my neck doesn't sink into the pillow with my head, as it would with a regular pillow. My neck remains elevated above my head, and hence no abnormal pressure is applied to my neck while I sleep. The net result is that even when sleeping deeply, I don't wake up with the neck pain anymore.
3) No more hot pillow.
Body heat makes pillows hot. Warm breath makes pillows hot. And, we all know that you lose more heat through your head than any other part of the body. So you end up turning over your pillow or repositioning to avoid the heat. With this pillow, the heat dissipates, and the pillow stays cool, and I get a more relaxing night. I placed my hot laptop on the pillow for a few minutes just to experiment. When I removed it, the pillow was only slightly warm, and even then, only in the exact footprint of the laptop. The whole pillow was cool again within seconds.
4) Great for sitting up in bed.
An added benefit I found, especially after purchasing the firm pillow, was that these pillows are great for propping yourself up in bed. The conform so well, and hold that position, that I've actually dosed off sitting up in bed!
D. Firm vs. Plush.
There is a difference between the firm and plush versions. Preference is going to depend on the individual, but I'll at least share a few thoughts that you might find useful:
1) The plush version is softer than the firmer (I know, but it had to be said). As a result, it conforms better, so this is the version that I actually rest my head and neck on if using only one. This is also the version that will give you that "laying in the clouds" feeling.
2) The firm version is springier, making it significantly less conforming. As a result, it won't give you that perfect body alignment, by itself. However, it is more supportive, and thus it is better for propping up either a body part, or yourself entirely.
3) Neither version is memory foam, and so both return to shape as soon as pressure is released.
4) Both versions dissipate heat well.
All that said, if you are going to only buy one, I recommend going with the plush. However, I find them more useful together. Generally, I find it best to sleep with my arms sandwiched between the two pillows, with my arms actually resting atop the plush pillow. Although this is counter intuitive, I then place the firm pillow atop my arms and rest my head on the firm pillow. That's just the alignment that works best for me right now. It may be different for other people, and it may change for me at some point, but I think it's good to have both just to have options.
E. In Conclusion
I've had these pillows for about a couple of months now, and I still think they're great. They've helped me considerably with getting a better night's sleep, and with morning back and neck pain. I have since bought an additional plush pillow for a friend who was had been waking up with back pain, probably due to being forced to continuously sleep in an unnatural (for her) side position on a couch of relative, who has recently undergone major surgery, and whom she is staying with in order to assist in the recovery. According to her, the pillow has helped to alleviate the pain. So, I wholeheartedly recommend this product.
This pillow gave me my first night's sleep, 8 hours worth, in 40 years; first morning I awoke without pain in my
back and neck.
My story begins with a major auto accident in 1973, wherein, I sustained traumatic brain injury and fractureS to my spine:lumbar, thorasic, cervical. My brain sustained "hits" in five areas: occipital, both temporal lobes, right frontal lobe, optic nerve which has left me with impaired visual problems. I lived through a horrible period of recovery that's still occurring.
Second Major Auto Accident: 1990. My car was hit in the front and rear..... Both hands, wrists, arms, knees were
injured. My sternum was fractured almost shattered. I went through years of reparative surgeries.
I've lived with and in Pain daily for 40 years.
I have NEVER been able to rest the back of my head on the pillow. The injury to the brain stem was too signifi-
cant.
As many reviewers before me, I too have tried other pillows. I've Never found a pillow (s) that helped me. In fact
I thought there was nothing "out there" for me.
As time passed, the injuries have taken their tole on me. From being a Stomach sleeper to a Side sleeper, I'm now
forced to sleep on my back. I couldn't figure out what to do about where/how I should/could position my head
on a pillow at night.
I'm like other Amazon Customers, I review the reviews. I may do this repeatedly.... even over a long period, until
I arrive at a solid conclusion: which product fits my needs?
Originally I by-passed the Z pillow. It wasn't for me. I didn't read the reviews. I kept looking elsewhere and al-
ways coming back to Amazon and again, many times, I by-passed the big Z.
Finally, this week, due to having repeatedly read the reviews, I bought a Z. It was delivered within 2 days. God
bless the person (s) and/or system that allowed this to happened.
Some reviewers talk about not being able to deal with the smell or as I prefer to label it, "fragrance" emitting from
the pillow once it came out of its plastic carrying case. One reviewer, a woman, cleverly put hers in the dryer with
no heat and Fabreeze and it came out smelling great.
For myself, the Fragrance wasn't toxic at all. Prior to going to bed at night, I put a window fan in the bedroom
window and let it blow the cool or cold air in, cooling the room off. That first night, I put the pillow on a TV tray
directly in front of the window fan, allowing all the Fresh Air to Blow whatever Fragrance exited. I turned it over
several times. Then as bedtime approached, I removed the fan and closed the window a bit. Even before doing
this I was prepared to sleep on the pillow without doing anything about the Fragrance. The Fragrance or Aroma
wasn't strong at all. It was mild at best and certainly NOT toxic. After giving IT the cold air treatment, I packed
the Z into a pillow case, put it on the bed and laid on it.
As some would say, I gingerly laid my head, the back of my head, on the pillow.
I waited for Pain. No Pain! No Discomfort at all! Interesting! Before I knew what time it was, I had slept a solid
eight (8) hours without a ripple or hint of the 40 years of pain. This is not to say, I don't have pain at all.
I'm saying Only "I have ABSOLUTELY NO PAIN in the Back of My Head, Neck Nor Back from sleeping. Its been
several nights and mornings like this now. Since I am forced to sleep on my back, I used every manipulation with pillows imaginable to relieve my night pain. Nothing worked until I met the Z Pillow. I thank GOD for giving man the genious and intelligence to design this pillow and selling it on Amazon.com where I and others like me would find it.
The Pillow itself is strange in appearance and to my touch.
Being Queen size, it is much longer/wider than the standard pillow.
It sort of "shimmies and shakes" if held on one end and lifting it off the surface.
It wiggles like jello, yet it is firm, sturdy.
It feels like slime when I touch it. Or some might say it feels like Velvet. It took me awhile to adjust to the Z's un-
usual "touch sensation."
It does have a series of holes on both sides of the Z. These are for Breathing Purpose of the unique substance
from which it is made.
It comes with a beautiful zippered velvet or velveteen cover over a very thin "skin" covering on the TALALAY latex.
I bought the Queen-High Loft-Firm Z Pillow. The first night I thought the surface would be firmer than what it is.
I was thinking this due to the reviews I read.
I was surprised when my Head (heaviest part of anyone's body) just Sunk ever so slightly into the Z pillow.
I was wondering "what's happening??
I started to think "I bought the wrong type for me. But No, it wasn't wrong.
I guess from the reviews as I laid my head on the Z, I expected the Z to be higher/elevated more than what it is.
I thought "I'm in trouble now." Then I woke up 8 hours later.
I was a very surprised person.
I'm ready to purchase another Z of a different quality. I think I'll choose a softer Z just to have as a spare.
I am very grateful to the Seller and Amazon for this product.
Does the medical field KNOW about the Z? My physical therapist is not familiar with it.
It could help insominacs and all with sleep disorders.

Top reviews from other countries
This pillow is nice and springy and supports the head without flattening out like a memory foam pillow does. It's incredibly comfortable and the velour cover is a nice bonus. These still aren't quite the pillows I used to have but they're very close and the best alternative I've found. Latex pillows rock!
PROS:
- Certainly high quality
- Very comfortable!
- Just the right amount of firmness
- Doesn't stink of latex/chemicals (maybe I just got lucky with this)
CONS: - Can't really find any cons about this product, honestly!
Overall I'm very happy with this purchase. When I made the decision to buy a high quality pillow, I was expecting to pay around $300 or at least $200, so the price of this product was a pleasant surprise. I am 6'3, 180lbs and the pillow seems to just naturally conform to my shoulders/neck/body in juuust the right way regardless of what position I'm in. I'd definitely recommend this (or any of the Malouf pillows) to my friends/family!
