To start, we put each of our mattresses through something called a “Rest Test,” where we lie down on the bed for an uninterrupted 15-minute power nap. This gives us a big-picture assessment of how it performs before we get into some of our more specific tests. Here’s how my colleague Amelia felt napping on the Minocasa mattress:
“The Minocasa offers a super firm feel. When I first laid down on the bed, I immediately noticed how firm it was. I didn’t experience much sinkage or pressure relief on this bed. Still, it did offer some cushioning — it wasn’t like laying on a hard plank, even though it was super firm. This bed wasn’t my cup of tea, because I like a softer feel, but if you like a firm mattress or need a firmer sleep surface, this could work well for you.”

- The Mino Hybrid is a very firm mattress, making it a good option for stomach sleepers. It also offers decent pressure relief in this position.
- This mattress is currently under $1,000 for a queen size at full retail, making it a great option for budget mattress shoppers.
- Back sleepers should also enjoy the combination of firmness and support of the Mino Hybrid.
Who I don’t recommend the Minocasa Mino Hybrid mattress for

How Firm is the Minocasa Mino Hybrid Mattress?
A mattress is going to feel different to you depending on your body weight and preferred sleeping position. Since mattress firmness can be subjective, I like to include my coworkers’ opinions when coming up with the final firmness rating score for a bed.
Ultimately, I rated this mattress as an 8 out of 10 on the firmness scale, where 6.5 is the industry standard for medium-firm. So it’s very firm. It offers really no sinkage and keeps you very “on top” of the bed. There’s firm cushioning to it, so it doesn’t feel like you’re sleeping on the floor, but there’s really not a ton of give to it.
Despite not sinking much into the layers, there are firm cushioning layers to provide comfort. Overall, the foam layers are somewhat thin to maintain the firmness of the mattress while also adding cushion and pressure relief. The coil base contributes to much of the firmness of this mattress.

Minocasa Mino Hybrid Mattress Pain Relief Performance
Support is needed to keep your body and spine aligned, but pressure relief is also needed at the points bearing the majority of your weight. Depending on your sleeping position, there may be extra pressure at the shoulder, hip, or lower back areas. Pressure relief in these areas is necessary to reduce pain and improve comfort.
I like to use a pressure map to see pressure buildup. These devices use heat mapping technology to show where pressure’s building across the body and attribute colors to pressure levels. In the below pressure map, blues and greens show low pressure, while oranges and reds show high pressure.
Back Pain – The Minocasa Mino Hybrid showed great results for pressure relief on the back for back sleepers — all blues and greens. However, it showed a lot more pressure forming while side sleeping, so it’s not going to be the best choice for side sleepers with back pain. Overall, this mattress should be great for stomach sleepers, good for most back sleepers, and a poor choice for side sleepers with back pain.
Shoulder Pain – This mattress shows good results for pressure relief around the shoulders, specifically for back and stomach sleepers. This mattress is not a good option for side sleepers with shoulder pain, as you can see the red on the pressure map around the shoulder area.
Hip Pain – This mattress shows decent pressure relief around the hips for most stomach and back sleepers but doesn’t have enough sinkage to fully alleviate the pressure forming. This mattress shows pressure buildup around the hip for side sleepers, making it insufficient for side sleepers with hip pain.
Minocasa Mino Hybrid Mattress Performance for Couples
In this section, we will highlight the performance of features that are especially important to couples, including motion isolation, bounciness, cooling, and edge support.
Motion Transfer
Motion transfer describes the movement that can be felt from one side of the bed to the other. Couples generally want mattresses that isolate this motion so they are able to sleep despite their partner’s movement. One of the ways we test for motion transfer is using a seismograph. We drop a 10-pound steel ball from heights of four inches, eight inches, and 12 inches. Then, we look at the seismograph results: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
In our test, the Minocasa Mino Hybrid showed fairly average results. Couples may not experience much of each other’s more subtle movements, but the bigger movements will likely be felt. These factors contribute to how suitable the mattress is for sex but also can be helpful for people needing some assistance with mobility. Cooling
Cooling features are important for hot sleepers and especially couples, considering the added body heat of another person in bed. The Minocasa Mino Hybrid contains cooling gel in the memory foam layer to help alleviate the heat-trapping memory foam is known for. This mattress is also a hybrid mattress, featuring a coil layer with plenty of airflow. This mattress should be a fairly good option for hot sleepers and couples.
Edge Support
Edge support is necessary for couples who are more likely to be sitting or lying toward the edge of the mattress. A mattress with proper edge support provides more usable space within the mattress, causing the mattress to feel bigger. My Minocasa Mino Hybrid mattress complaints
While the Mino Hybrid has a lot of good traits, it is important to note where it is lacking. Despite including memory foam, this is a firm mattress. I think the Mino Hybrid is far too firm for side sleepers and may not be a good option for lightweight sleepers or anyone preferring sinkage, contouring, and deep relief around pressure points. I’d steer these folks to a memory foam mattress or soft mattress for a better sleep experience. However, you could add a mattress topper to the Minocasa for extra plushness.
