And through Amazon, it often comes at an even steeper discount, which is why we chose it as our best overall pick. When testing it out, we found that it offered pressure relief in all the right places without sacrificing spinal support, specifically in the back- and stomach-sleeping positions. That’s because the Emma Hybrid Comfort has a firmer construction (a 7.5 out of 10 on our firmness scale) and uses a combination of pocketed coils and soft foams.
As with all of our mattresses, we ran the Emma Hybrid Comfort through a test we refer to as the pressure map. It involves rolling a specialized mat over the the bed that uses color-coded imaging to display how much pressure is being put on the body while sleeping. On this “map,” blue indicates no pressure, green indicates slight pressure, yellow indicates moderate pressure, orange indicates high pressure, and red indicates very high pressure. On the Hybrid Comfort, it was almost entirely blue while back sleeping, showing that it provides plenty of relief in this position.
