In this review, I’ll be comparing two high-quality mattresses: the Saatva Classic and the DreamCloud Original. One’s made of supportive layers of coils and considered a luxury innerspring mattress, while the other’s a combination of foam and coils and considered a luxury hybrid mattress. Both are popular options in the snooze world, but which one’s going to give you the best sleep experience?
In this mattress comparison, I hope to help you decide. I’m going to compare different aspects of both these beds, from their materials to their firmness levels to their mattress companies’ customer service.

Saatva vs DreamCloud: Which is Better for You?
Depending on components like your body weight, preferred sleeping position, and whether or not you sleep with a partner or pet, one of these mattresses may suit your needs better than the other. Take a look at some of my recommendations below.
Who Should Buy the Saatva
- Anyone who likes being able to choose the best firmness level for them will appreciate the Saatva Classic, as it’s offered in three different models. You can also choose between two different bed heights.
- If you don’t want to do any heavy lifting, the Saatva comes with free white glove delivery, so they’ll set it up for you in your room of choice and take away your old mattress for free. It’s also never compressed in a box and arrives fully formed.
- Heavier sleepers and couples should do well on this supportive bed.

Who Should Buy the DreamCloud
- From the cashmere blended cover to the gel memory foam, this is a great option for those who love a luxurious feel.
- Back sleepers, some side sleepers, and couples could enjoy this supportive bed and its pressure-relieving foams.
- Combination sleepers and anyone with mobility issues would do well on this mattress since it’s very easy to move around on.

Saatva vs DreamCloud: Similarities and Differences
Let’s take a look at the key similarities and differences between these two beds. I’d also recommend looking at our full Saatva mattress review and full DreamCloud mattress review for more detailed information.
Main Similarities
- They’re both their brand’s flagship models, listed as being their most popular beds, and ship free with a 365-night sleep trial and a lifetime warranty.
- I’d say they both have around a medium-firm to firm mattress feel where you feel propped up on the bed, and they have high-quality materials along with a combination of coils and foam in them.
- Back sleepers and heavier sleepers should be happy on both of them, as they’ll get nice cushioning and support. These are both very durable mattresses.

Differences
- The DreamCloud arrives compressed in a box — while the Saatva Classic arrives fully expanded and comes with free white glove delivery, meaning the workers will set it up for you and take away your old mattress if needed.
- The Saatva Classic leans more toward being an innerspring mattress with a little bit of foam, while the DreamCloud is a true hybrid with multiple layers of foam on top of coils. The Saatva Classic comes in three different firmness levels: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, and Firm and two different heights. I’ll be referring to the Luxury Firm model for most of this comparison.
- The Saatva is a bit more expensive than the DreamCloud at full retail.

Saatva and DreamCloud Mattress Feel Comparison
Now let’s talk about how these beds feel. A mattress will feel different to you depending on your body weight, shape, and preferred sleeping position.
Saatva
I gave the Saatva in the Luxury Firm model a 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale. The industry standard for medium-firm is a 6.5 out of 10, so it has a little bit of a firmer feel. The pillow top provides some nice cushioning to balance out the firmness.
Overall, I think sleepers will feel supported and raised up on the mattress.
DreamCloud
I gave the DreamCloud a 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale, so it’s also slightly firmer than average. I think its top foams still allow it to be pressure relieving while its coils offer support.
Ultimately, it feels cushiony and props the sleeper up.
Comparing What it’s Like to Sleep on the Saatva and DreamCloud
As mentioned earlier, your body weight and preferred sleeping position will determine how a mattress feels to you. So, let’s go through how each bed could feel for the following sleepers:
Saatva
Back — I think back sleepers will really like the Saatva in the Luxury Firm version, especially if they prefer a medium-firm to firm feel.
Side — Strict side sleepers may prefer the Plush Soft model of the Saatva over the Luxury Firm in order to get deeper sinkage and pressure relief, but I do think the Luxury Firm could work for combination sleepers who sleep on their side periodically throughout the night.
Stomach — I think a lot of stomach sleepers could be happy on the Saatva Classic in the Luxury Firm model, but the Firm model could be an even better choice for strict stomach sleepers since it’ll lift their hips up even more to achieve spinal alignment and healthy sleep posture.
Body Weight — If you’re a lightweight sleeper, a mattress is going to feel firmer to you than a sleeper who’s heavier than you. Conversely, if you’re a heavier sleeper, a mattress is going to feel softer to you, as you’ll sink into it more. I think heavier sleepers weighing over 250 pounds would feel supported on the Saatva Classic. However, Saatva also offers the Saatva HD mattress, which is specifically designed for heavier folks and could be worth checking out.

DreamCloud
Back — This is a great fit for back sleepers. The top foams should be conforming while the coils keep them supported.
Side — I personally felt comfortable on my side on the DreamCloud, but I think a lot of strict side sleepers may want a softer mattress to get deeper pressure relief around their shoulders and hips.
Stomach — I think a lot of stomach sleepers may want to pick a firmer mattress to keep their hips lifted and in line with their shoulders (which is key for preventing back pain). However, I think the DreamCloud could work for lightweight sleepers under 130 pounds since it’ll feel firmer to them.
Body Weight — If you’re a heavier sleeper, mattresses feel softer than they do to sleepers who weigh less. I think the DreamCloud has some durable, high-quality materials that make it a nice fit for heavier sleepers. I also always recommend checking out some of our favorite mattresses for heavier folks to see more options designed with them in mind.

Comparing Saatva and DreamCloud Mattress Materials
Now that you have a better idea of how each of these online mattresses feel, let’s go over their layers to see the full construction of each mattress.
Saatva
Cover — The Saatva Classic has a quilted Euro pillow top with an organic cotton cover. This is soft and breathable.
Comfort Layer — Next up is high-density foam zoned for support, which means it gives sleepers more support in the center third of the bed to help promote spinal alignment.
Transition Layer — Then the Saatva has a layer of pocketed coils that are zoned to support your lumbar region and make the bed responsive and adjust to your body.
Support Layer — The Saatva has another layer of coils for extra support and durability. Both layers of coils have a high-density foam barrier to give this mattress stellar edge support, meaning the edge of the bed feels just as supportive as the center of the mattress. The coils also promote the responsiveness of the mattress.

DreamCloud
Cover – The DreamCloud has a thick quilted cover that’s a cashmere blend with memory foam inside it.
Comfort Layer – Next up is a layer of high-density, gel-infused memory foam, which allows for a little bit of sinkage and pressure relief.
Transition Layer – The DreamCloud has a layer of poly foam to help ease sleepers into the next layer of pocketed coils and promote contouring.
Base Layer – This layer is made of individually wrapped innerspring coils that offer support. They also allow for breathability and airflow.
Stability Layer — The final layer is poly foam to provide a foundation for the mattress.

Saatva vs. DreamCloud: Best Qualities
So, which bed is best for you? Let’s go over some of my favorite features of each mattress.
Saatva Best Features
- I really like how sleepers can choose from three firmness options, so everyone should be able to find a firmness level that works for their personal preference.
- The free white glove delivery makes this a nice choice for anyone who wants convenience and prefers to not have their bed arrive compressed in a box.
- Combination sleepers should appreciate how easy it is to change sleeping positions on this mattress due to its bouncy coil system.

Comparing Other Models from Saatva and DreamCloud
Both mattress brands sell a variety of different beds. To see how some of these models stack up against the beds covered in this comparison, let’s do a quick rundown of each mattress.
Loom & Leaf
- Unlike the Saatva, the Loom & Leaf is an all-foam bed, though it’s still not a bed-in-a-box. This means it will have less motion transfer or stronger motion isolation.
- With a soothing top layer of memory foam, the Loom & Leaf is built with pressure relief in mind and could alleviate pressure points.
- This makes it a great fit for side sleepers or anyone after that classic memory foam mattress, body-contouring feel.
- Get all the details in the full Loom & Leaf mattress review.
The Loom & Leaf is a pressure-relieving memory foam mattress. It offers deep sinkage and contouring, and its foam layers absorb almost all movement, making it a great option for couples.

Zenhaven
- Zenhaven is an all-natural latex model from Saatva, featuring fantastic bounce and cooling.
- It’s also flippable, so sleepers can switch between two different firmnesses depending on their moods or unique preferences.
- As far as price is concerned, it’s definitely more expensive than the Saatva, which isn’t surprising. Latex mattresses tend to be a little pricier.
- For more information, check out our full Zenhaven mattress review.
The Zenhaven is extremely durable, so you know you are investing in a mattress that will last a while. Another great perk of this latex bed is that it’s naturally cooling, which hot sleepers should appreciate. You also get two firmness levels in one with this bed since it is flippable.
