Differences
- The DreamCloud is an inch taller than the Nectar Premier and is a luxury hybrid bed, so it’s a combination of foams on top and a coil layer on bottom.
- The all-foam Nectar Premier has more of a medium-soft and doughy feel.
- Although they both do have cooling components inside, I think the DreamCloud is going to sleep a little cooler, thanks to its hybrid construction that allows for airflow.
- The DreamCloud is a little less expensive at full retail.
Nectar Premier and DreamCloud Mattress Feel Comparison
Now let’s get into detail about how these beds feel. A mattress will feel different to you depending on your body weight, shape, and preferred sleeping position.
Nectar Premier
I gave the Nectar a 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale. The industry standard for medium-firm is a 6.5 out of 10, so it has a a little bit of a softer feel. The top foam layers do a good job conforming around pressure points, so back and side sleepers should be comfy.
Overall, I think sleepers will feel more cradled by the foam layers than propped up on them.
DreamCloud
I gave the DreamCloud a 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale, so it’s slightly firmer than average. I thought it felt very supportive but still had pressure relieving abilities due its top foams.
Overall, it offers more of a cushiony, raised on the bed feeling.
Comparing What it’s Like to Sleep on the Nectar Premier and DreamCloud
As mentioned earlier, your body weight and preferred sleeping position will determine how a mattress feels to you. So, let’s go through how each bed could feel for the following sleepers:
Nectar
Back — I think back sleepers will be really happy on this bed, especially if they enjoy a foam feel and need relief around their joints.
Side — A lot of side sleepers should also be comfortable and get nice contouring around the shoulder and hip.
Stomach — Some lightweight stomach sleepers under 130 pounds may like this bed, but I think most strict stomach sleepers will want something firmer so their hips don’t sink down and put their spine out of alignment.
Body Weight — If you’re a lightweight sleeper, a mattress is going to feel firmer to you than a sleeper who’s heavier than you. Conversely, if you’re a heavier sleeper, a mattress is going to feel softer to you, as you’ll sink into it more. I think heavier sleepers weighing over 250 pounds would want a more supportive mattress than the Nectar Premier. I recommend heavy people look for a bed specifically designed for higher body weights.
DreamCloud
Back — This is a wonderful match for back sleepers, as its cushy comfort should relieve pressure while also keeping them supported.
Side — I personally felt comfortable on my side on the DreamCloud, but I think a lot of strict side sleepers may want a more soft mattress in order to get better sinkage and relief around their pressure points.
Stomach — Most stomach sleepers will want a more firm mattress to keep their hips elevated for healthy sleep posture. However, I think the DreamCloud could work for lightweight sleepers under 130 pounds.
Body Weight — If you’re a heavier sleeper, mattresses feel softer than they do to sleepers who weigh less. Due to the innerspring coils and construction of the DreamCloud, I think it’ll be a better and more supportive fit for heavier back sleepers weighing over 250 pounds. However, heavier side sleepers may sink through the top layers too much and not get their full benefits.
