Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid Mattress Overview
The Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid is Nectar’s most luxurious mattress. It’s also the hybrid version of the premium all-foam Nectar Premier Copper, so it combines foam and coils for comfort and support.
This mattress comes at a height of 14 inches and aims to cater to hot sleepers and folks with joint pain. The luxurious nature of the Premier Copper Hybrid is reflected in its extra comfort layers (particularly its Euro top), as well as its cooling properties in its cover.
In terms of feel, you might expect a pressure relieving yet bouncy feel. While these foams have the ability to provide lots of good contouring, they also keep us lifted on the mattress, which is key for proper spinal alignment.

Cover – The Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid’s cover is a quilted cooling cover with Microban antimicrobial protection, which aims to keep sleepers cool while also preventing bacteria growth.
Comfort Layers – Next up is two inches of contouring memory foam to conform to pressure points. Then there’s a 2-inch supportive foam layer to help promote spinal alignment.
Transition Layer – A 1-inch layer of dynamic foam keeps the bed responsive and keeps sleepers from feeling the coils in the bed.
Base Layer — The support layer is 8-inch individually wrapped coils with edge support. These allow air to flow through the bed, while also making it supportive and durable.
Stability Layer — The final layer is a 1-inch foam layer to keep everything in place.

Before we get started, I want to point out that firmness is subjective. A mattress will feel firmer or softer to different sleepers depending on their body weight, shape, and preferred sleeping position. To get an accurate idea of how firm the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid feels, I polled a range of coworkers and averaged our scores and firmness levels together.
The industry standard for medium firmness is a 6.5 out of 10. The Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid has a soft, bouncy feel. I ultimately gave it a 6 out of 10 on the mattress firmness scale, so it’s what I consider a medium-soft mattress.

We recognize that people come in all shapes and sizes, and people of every size deserve a mattress that works for their body type. We use the weight categories light, average, and heavy to more easily categorize sleepers based on how mattresses will perform for their body type, as most mattresses are designed for the group we call “average” (130 to 250 pounds).
As a general rule, lighter sleepers don’t require as much support as average weight sleepers, and mattresses will tend to feel firmer to them. On the other hand, heavy sleepers tend to need more support than average weight sleepers and tend to sink into the mattress more.
As far as sleeping positions go, side sleepers tend to need a softer mattress while stomach sleepers usually need a firmer, more supportive one. Back sleepers are usually somewhere in the middle.
Is the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid a Good Mattress for Light Sleepers (Under 130 pounds)?
- Light Back Sleepers – These sleepers should feel like they’re sleeping on a cloud on this mattress. The cushiony foams will fill in their lumbar region nicely.
- Light Side Sleepers – I think the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid could work for a lot of these sleepers since it does have softer foams that cradle your joints, but some strict side sleepers may want to check out an even softer mattress for more pressure relief.
- Light Stomach Sleepers – I think the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid is going to be too soft for these sleepers and they’ll want to look for a firmer option instead for healthy sleep posture.
Is the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid a Good Mattress for Average Weight Sleepers (130 – 250 pounds)?
- Average Weight Back Sleepers – I think this hybrid will be great for these sleepers on the search for both pressure relief and support.
- Average Weight Side Sleepers – I thought this hybrid did an excellent job for side sleeping and gave my joints needed contouring and relief.
- Average Weight Stomach Sleepers – The Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid is going to be too soft for these sleepers and will allow for their hips to dip. I’d check out a firmer bed instead.
Is the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid a Good Mattress for Heavy Sleepers (over 250 pounds)?
- Heavy Back Sleepers – I think these sleepers who want a softer feel will be comfortable on this bed. However, a lot of these sleepers may want a firmer option to feel more supported.
- Heavy Side Sleepers – These sleepers should feel comfortable on this mattress due to its top five inches of foam and supported thanks to the bottom coils.
- Heavy Stomach Sleepers – I don’t think this mattress is firm enough for these sleepers. Instead, I’d check out some of our favorite mattresses for heavy people for more choices.
Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid Mattress Performance
A big part of what we do here at Sleepopolis is run a series of tests on each mattress we review. This helps our team of Certified Sleep Science Coaches get an objective view of what it would be like to sleep on them. These tests also allow us to make even more specific recommendations in addition to sleeping position and body type. Below, see how the TK performs in areas such as pain relief, motion transfer, cooling, and more.
Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid Pain Relief Performance
How well a bed alleviates pressure at the shoulders and hips is important for every sleeper to consider, especially if anyone struggles with pain concerns. A mattress with good pressure relief can help prevent and ease soreness and stiffness.
I measured the pressure relief on the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid mattress by using a pressure map. A pressure map uses heat mapping technology to show where pressure is forming while lying on the mattress. I placed the pressure map on top of the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid and moved into different sleeping positions to show you how it responds to body weight. Blue to green areas indicate low pressure while orange to red areas show high pressure. We cover three different areas: back pain, shoulder pain, and hip pain.
Before looking at the results below, you’ll definitely want to take your sleeping position into account. For example, we don’t recommend this mattress to stomach sleepers, because while it provides amazing pressure relief for most, those in the prone position need something a bit more supportive.
Overall, we found that the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid should be an outstanding option for most back and side sleepers, whether they suffer from back pain, shoulder pain, or hip pain. The results show low pressure buildup across the board.
Motion Transfer
Motion transfer is how movement travels from one side of the bed to the other. If you sleep with a partner who tends to toss and turn throughout the night or an active pet, you’ll want a bed that doesn’t transfer a lot of movement, or has good motion isolation, so you can sleep soundly.
We come up with our motion transfer score using three different tests. The first one involves us rolling around on a mattress with a colleague and seeing how much of each other’s movement we feel. For the second test, we place a full wine glass on the mattress, and see how much the wine moves around with us. If the liquid has zero to little movement, then it’s a safe bet that the mattress has low motion transfer, which is what you want to see.
Finally, there’s our seismometer test. I dropped a 10-pound steel ball from heights of four inches, eight inches, and 12 inches, and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
These were pretty average motion transfer results, which isn’t too surprising for a hybrid mattress. When I further tested motion transfer by having a colleague move around on the other side of the mattress and seeing what I felt on my side, I felt it was slightly above average. I’d say you shouldn’t feel a partner’s small movements, like them changing sleeping positions, but might feel them getting in and out of bed.
Responsiveness
At our mattress lab, we test responsiveness by pressing down on its top layer, removing our hand, and seeing how quickly the surface returns to its original shape. Memory foam usually has a low response to pressure, while hybrid mattresses with coils (such as the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid) tend to have a high response to pressure. Responsive mattresses are usually good for combination sleepers who switch sleeping positions at night, because it’s easier to change positions and move around. This is also why responsive beds are good for sex.
After testing this bed, I think the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid has a good level of responsiveness. Its coils bring the bed bounce and its soft foams quickly retake shape after movement.
Cooling
Several factors contribute to a mattress’s cooling ability. First and foremost, we consider its construction. Since the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid has special cooling properties, specifically its quilted cooling cover, I think it should be a competitive match for hot sleepers. Its hybrid construction also makes it breathable by nature, as the coils allow extra room for airflow.
Edge Support
Edge support is a measure of how well the perimeter of the bed supports weight and whether you can sleep all the way on the side of the bed without feeling like you’re going to fall off. Edge support can also be a good measure of a mattress’ durability and whether it may sag over time.
I think the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid has sturdy edge support overall. It sank a little while sitting on the edge of the bed, but it kept me fully supported while laying there.
Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid Performance For Couples
If you sleep with a partner, you’re going to want to keep all of these factors in mind. For example, you’ll want to know how well your mattress absorbs motion, whether or not it’s responsive and therefore good for sex, if it has strong and sturdy edges, and if it will keep you both cool.
And since the Premier Copper Hybrid tested considerably well in all aspects, I feel confident recommending this bed for most couples. It balanced its responsiveness and its motion isolation abilities well. Furthermore, this mattress tested well in both cooling and edge support.

Who I recommend the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid Mattress for

- Combination sleepers or anyone looking to easily move around on their mattress should appreciate the bounciness of this bed.
- I think couples will like the features of this mattress that will allow them to use the full surface of the bed and not overheat.
Who I don’t recommend the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid Mattress for
- Strict stomach sleepers will likely want a firmer mattress so their hips don’t dip down and curve their spine. I’d recommend looking at one of the best mattresses for stomach sleepers instead.
- Anyone looking for a slow-moving, quicksand-like foam bed will probably find the foams in this bed too responsive and soft. The all-foam Nectar Premier Copper would be a better option.

- Price: The Premier Copper Hybrid is a bit cheaper than the Aurora Luxe, but both beds are in a similar luxury price range at full price.
- Sleeping position: The Aurora Luxe has three different firmnesses, so sleepers of all kinds should find a model that works well. The Premier Copper Hybrid is really only suitable for back and side sleepers.
