We’ve recently re-reviewed all of our top mattresses that won’t sag picks and added more feedback from the testers in our lab – so you can rest easy that if it’s on this list, we’ve personally tested it, slept on it, and stand by its recommendation.
Sagging mattresses are the worst. If you’ve owned a mattress for longer than a few years, you’ve likely experienced this yourself — the dips, the trenches, the once springy foam layers laying dormant in your bed. But while some sagging may be inevitable, there are ways to prevent it from going overboard. How, you ask? Well, allow us to explain.
In this guide, we’re going to introduce you to some of the best mattresses that won’t sag. As you’ll notice throughout this review, all of these beds feature strong support layers that maximize the durability and stability of their structures. So, not only are these cuddly beauties sturdy, and not only are they comfortable, but they’re specifically built to stand the test of time.
Ready to see my picks? Then keep on reading below! And don’t forget to check out our methodology section at the end of this guide for a crash course on all the factors to consider when shopping for a no-sag mattress of your own.
What I Look For In The Best Mattresses That Won’t Sag
Edge Support
When looking for a mattress that won’t sag, one of the most important indicators of durability is edge support, or how strong the edges of your mattress are. I test the edge support of each bed by using a tape measure to measure how much the perimeter sinks when I sit or lie down on it.
Quality and Durability of Materials
The quality and durability of the materials in your mattress directly relate to whether or not it will sag. Because of this, I made sure to include mattresses in this list with high-quality materials that will help prevent sagging.
Pressure Relief
I used a pressure map test to see how much pressure each mattress puts on my body. For instance, if there’s low pressure buildup at the back, then I know it’s a good mattress for back pain.
We rate each mattress on a scale from 1 to 5 to reflect its overall quality. This number is comprised of individual scores from hands-on testing of materials, firmness, pressure relief, motion transfer, cooling, responsiveness, and more.

Back Sleepers
The springs in the Helix Midnight Luxe should help back sleepers maintain a neutral posture.
Side Sleepers
The pillow top and layer of memory foam should give these folks plenty of softness and contouring.
Pros of the Helix Midnight Luxe
The luxury version of the standard Helix Midnight comes with a pillow top and Tencel cover.
The Midnight Luxe should sleep fairly cool, thanks to its airflow-promoting coils and breathable Tencel cover.
The springs give the Helix Midnight Luxe a good deal of bounce and responsiveness that should make it easy for combination sleepers to change. positions
Cons of the Helix Midnight Luxe
The softness of this mattress isn’t going to be an ideal fit for stomach sleepers. They’ll need something more supportive to keep their hips elevated and in line with their shoulders. See our best mattresses for stomach sleepers for more options.
Likewise, heavy sleepers over 250 pounds will likely need a firmer and more supportive mattress. They should look at our best mattresses for heavy people.

Helix has a line of six hybrid mattresses, each with a different level of firmness. The Midnight is one of their medium models. It has enough contouring for side sleepers, but should still be supportive enough for back sleepers, as long as they don’t mind a softer bed. Learn more in our video review.

Expert Opinion
As the luxury version of the Helix Midnight, the Helix Midnight Luxe adds zoned support and a cushy pillow-top to the top layer of memory foam. When lying down on it, sleepers should experience a good deal of pressure relief while still getting support from a layer of individually wrapped coils. The coils also help prevent the bed from sagging. It’s worth noting that the Luxe also has more cooling features than the standard version of the mattress.
Strong edge support, or how well a mattress holds up on the sides, is also extremely important for preventing sagging. Luckily, the Helix Midnight Luxe has solid results in this area and should keep side sleepers, back sleepers, and even couples satisfied.
What Customers Say
Customers seem to be really happy with the structural integrity of this mattress and its high-quality construction.
Highlights of the Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress
With low motion transfer, couples are unlikely to be disturbed by partners who toss and turn at night.
The medium-soft to medium-firm feel of this model should be comfortable and pressure relieving to both back and side sleepers.
This bed is super-bouncy and responsive, so combination sleepers should be able to easily switch sleeping positions throughout the night without getting stuck.
What to Keep In Mind About the Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress
This mattress isn’t firm enough to provide hip support for most stomach sleepers, and could cause their spine to be thrown off alignment. Check our picks for best firm mattress for better options.
This bed doesn’t provide the deep sinkage or slow-moving foam that you get in memory foam mattresses.

The Bear Elite Hybrid uses foam and coils for a mix of support, cushioning, and cooling. While designed for athletes prioritizing wellness and recovery, sleepers of all activity levels can enjoy the many luxurious features. Enjoy zoned support for targeted relief, an “on top of” feel allowing for ease of movement, and cooling features throughout. For more information, watch our video review.
What our tester says:
“I’d recommend the Bear Elite Hybrid for most back and stomach sleepers.I think these sleepers will get the needed pressure relief and contouring around the lower back and hips. This mattress does a wonderful job at offering body contouring while still helping the sleeper stay elevated and lifted as well. The layers of foam should provide comfort while the coil system should offer lots of support.” – Nichole Mondshein, lead reviewer and mattress tester

Hybrids are often a safe bet when looking for an anti-sagging mattress, as their layer of springs offers a lot of extra support. The Bear Elite Hybrid goes even further by having two sections of springs: a layer of sturdy pocketed coils, as well as smaller microcoils along the bed’s perimeter, which I found gives the mattress strong edge support.
Another benefit of the Bear Elite Hybrid’s coils is that they leave plenty of room for airflow, helping keep the sleeper cool. Other cooling features in this luxury hybrid include copper infusions in the foam and an optional cover made of an exceptionally cooling material called Celliant. When I tested out the bed, I not only felt lifted by its elaborate construction — I never felt like I was heating up.
What Customers Say
The Elite Hybrid has a little over 3,700 reviews on the Bear website, and an average customer rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars. About 20 of the reviews call out the mattress’s cooling abilities, with some folks saying the bed pairs really well with cooling sheets.
Highlights of the Bear Elite Hybrid Mattress
Bear designs its mattresses with athletes in mind, and with an added fee shoppers can choose a Celliant cover. This technology is unique in that it’s meant to promote blood flow. While I haven’t tested the material’s recovery properties myself, you can read more about them in several clinical trials.
The Bear Elite Hybrid comes in three different firmness levels: Soft, Medium, and Firm. I tested the Medium model and found it to be on the softer side — a 6 out of 10 on our mattress firmness scale.
I think the Medium model is a good fit for back sleepers and side sleepers. It’s probably too soft for stomach sleepers, although they might be comfortable on the Firm model.
What to Keep In Mind About the Bear Elite Hybrid Mattress
As the brand’s luxury model, the Bear Elite Hybrid is on the pricier side, with a queen size coming in at over $2,200 before discounts. However, Bear often runs promotions and you can sometimes get a queen for closer to $1,500.
The Celliant cover that may help in muscle recovery and keeps things cool must be purchased separately for around $130.

The Nectar Premier is a luxurious all-foam mattress equipped with quality materials. A moisture-wicking cover and gel-infused comfort layer create a cooling, thermoregulating mattress for hot sleepers. Perhaps its strongest attribute is its next-level pressure relief. Six inches of foam work to contour sensitive areas, but the high-density foam at the bottom of the bed provides plenty of support. Watch our video review to learn more.
What our tester says:
“My favorite thing about the Nectar Premier is its great pressure relief. This medium-soft mattress is a great fit for side sleepers looking for plush comfort. It might also be a nice fit for sleepers who deal with shoulder pain.” – Nichole Mondshein, lead reviewer and staff writer

Expert Opinion
The Nectar Premier is a pressure-relieving yet supportive bed with a thick therapeutic memory foam layer, with a cooling cover to help the whole mattress keep a low temperature. Additionally, a layer of dynamic response foam adds bounce to the mattress, preventing side sleepers from sinking too far into the bed while still offering them plenty of contouring. The materials of the Nectar — both comfortable and supportive — make it a fantastic option for side sleepers in need of pressure relief.
In order to ensure that we’re recommending the Nectar Premier for the correct sleeping positions, I put it through our pressure map test. During testing, I spread a specialized mat across a mattress’s surface and lie down on it in the back- and side-sleeping positions. The mat then sends us a color-coded graphic displaying areas of high, moderate, and low pressure. Areas with high pressure buildup light up with the colors red and orange. Moderate pressure is indicated with the color yellow, and lower pressure shows green and blue. The Nectar Premier gently cradles the shoulders and hips, and I don’t foresee it leaving sleepers with newfound aches and pains.
What Customers Say
Shoppers of all ages compliment the Nectar Premier’s ability to lift pressure off of sensitive areas, from the shoulder to the back to the hip.
Highlights of the Nectar Premier Mattress
The Nectar Premier should also be comfortable for back sleepers, who should get the pressure relief they need at the lumbar region and the support they need for their spine to stay neutrally aligned.
This mattress has all of the sinkage, contouring, and pressure relief that a classic memory foam bed provides. It’s especially nice for people with shoulder or hip pain.
The sinkage from this mattress should help back and side sleepers find pressure relief as the mattress conforms to their bodies.
What to Keep In Mind About the Nectar Premier Mattress
Stomach sleepers need a firmer mattress to keep their shoulder and hips in line. The Nectar may cause stomach sleepers’ hips to sink too far into the mattress.

Its bouncy and responsive feel means it’s great for combination sleepers
The Saatva’s reinforced edges give it some of the best edge support we’ve ever seen
Cons of the Saatva

Expert Opinion
In the market for a supportive innerspring mattress that won’t sag while you sleep? Consider the Saatva mattress. Made with a sturdy coil-on-coil construction, this bed is bouncy, and built for the long haul. Durability points aside, our favorite thing about the Saatva is how well it supports a neutral spine alignment. What this means for is that it lifts the hips in line with the shoulders, creating an even line across the body. This alignment not only makes it super-easy to move around and change positions, but also helps to alleviate tension at the joints and lower back. The Saatva comes in three different firmnesses, so you can really hone in on the comfort level that’s right for you. All in all, this is a well-made bed designed to withstand a lot of wear and tear.
I tested the Saatva’s edge support in our mattress lab, and found some of the best edge support we’ve seen. This wasn’t entirely surprising, as the Saatva uses two different coil layers as well as reinforced edges for support. I didn’t notice any sinkage at all on the Saatva, regardless if I was lying on it or sitting on it.
What Customers Say
Customers were more than satisfied with Saatva’s customer service throughout the mattress buying process.
Highlights of the Saatva Mattress
This mattress provides tons of cushioning in the lumbar region while also adding spinal support, which is great for back sleepers.
The layers of coils in this innerspring mattress make it bouncy and responsive enough for combination sleepers to switch between different sleeping positions.
It’s available in three different firmnesses, so there’s something for every sleeping position. I recommend that side sleepers go for the Plush Soft, back sleepers opt for the Luxury Firm, and stomach sleepers choose the Firm.
What to Keep In Mind About the Saatva Mattress
Because this mattress has a traditional innerspring feel, it’s likely that you’ll be disturbed by any movement your partner makes throughout the night. If you sleep lightly, you may need a bed with better motion isolation.
We rate each mattress on a scale from 1 to 5 to reflect its overall quality. This number is comprised of individual scores from hands-on testing of materials, firmness, pressure relief, motion transfer, cooling, responsiveness, and more.

The WinkBed is a luxury hybrid mattress. It has a similarly supportive and sturdy feel to a traditional innerspring mattress, but upgrades like a Euro top and cooling Tencel cover give it a touch of modern luxury. Expert Opinion
Hybrid mattresses can be fantastic options for folks in need of a durable structure, as they’re built with both foam and coils. This means they get the best of both worlds — cozy pressure relief up top and firm support below. Thankfully, there are a lot of hybrid models available on the market today, with one of my faves being the WinkBed mattress.
What sets this model apart is its super sturdy construction. While the pillow top itself is pleasantly plush, the rest of the bed is anything but. After sinking through the top layers of soft foam, you’ll land on a springy section of microcoils, which is quickly followed up by a tall system of pocketed coils. This results in a ton of bouncy support that brings some much needed heft and lift to the structure. Over time, these coils will also help to support the top layers of foam as they begin to naturally sag and change shape. This mattress also comes in four different firmness levels, including an option for plus-sized sleepers, so it can appeal to a wide variety of people.
To really make sure this mattress won’t sag, I put the WinkBed through our edge support test. This allows my to determine the strength of a mattress’s perimeter, which is often an indicator of durability. Sturdy edges allow folks to really spread out or sleep towards the edge of the mattress. To test this, I sat and laid down on the edges of the WinkBed to see just how much it collapses under my weight. To my satisfaction, the WinkBed showed impressive edge support. Because it has reinforced edges, I only saw a slight collapse, which is nothing to be worried about.
What Customers Say
Many reviews take time to applaud the WinkBed’s ability to help relieve their back pain.
Highlights of the WinkBed Mattress
This mattress is designed to keep sleepers cool all night long, which is a great feature for those who sleep hot at night.
The WinkBed is bouncy and responsive, so combination sleepers should be able to easily switch between sleeping positions without getting caught in the mattress.
This bed is a good pick for those who enjoy the feel of an innerspring mattress. It’s super supportive and could really benefit those with lower back pain.
What to Keep In Mind About the WinkBed Mattress
This mattress may be too firm for side sleepers, who usually need a softer mattress to relieve pressure from their hips and shoulders.
The WinkBed isn’t the best choice if you’re looking to save money. But, it is often on sale, and it’s super durable, which makes it a good mattress for the money.

The Nolah Natural is made with eco-friendly Talalay latex and supportive coils. This mattress has GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) organic wool, cotton, natural latex, and recycled steel. This material is also naturally hypoallergenic and cooling, which can help hot sleepers prevent overheating. For more information, watch our video review.
Expert Opinion
If you struggle with allergies or are against certain materials, you may be interested in an organic mattress. These beds are typically made with all-natural materials and usually meet certain environmental standards during the manufacturing process. The Nolah Natural is made with two layers of Talalay latex, a naturally breathable and hypoallergenic material. The bed also contains an organic cotton cover and organic wool layer that’s soft and cooling. As a hybrid mattress, this bed also has a coiled layer at the bottom made from recycled steel.
The Nolah Natural is a durable mattress made with high-quality materials, which help keep it standing strong without sagging. I found the edge support on this bed to be excellent, largely due to the strong coil layer. I especially like this mattress for back and side sleepers. These folks should find some comforting pressure relief from the bouncy latex, but still feel supported and lifted by the support system below.
What Customers Say
Verified buyers seem to love the medium-soft feel of this bed and think it’s not too firm and not too soft.
Highlights of the Nolah Natural Mattress
The breathable latex foam and coils make this mattress a good choice for hot sleepers.
This mattress contains GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified materials that are eco-friendly and sustainable.
The bouncy latex and coils make it easy to move around on this bed, which combination sleepers can appreciate.
What to Keep In Mind About the Nolah Natural Mattress
I don’t think this mattress is firm enough for stomach sleepers, who may need a bit more support to keep their hips lifted and aligned with their shoulders.
This bed isn’t the best at isolating motion, so couples may be disturbed by each other’s movement at night.

The Brooklyn Bedding Titan is designed specifically for heavy people over 250 pounds, with extra-supportive touches such as responsive Titanflex foam in the comfort layer and an extra-tall layer of TitanCaliber-encased coils at the base. All of these materials work together to establish a 7.5/10 firmness that should appeal to heavier sleepers in all three sleeping positions. An added bonus of all this reinforcement is that the Titan is extra-durable, which means it should easily prevent sagging.
I had one of my friends, Paulie, come in and test the mattress. As a powerlifter, he fits the body type the Titan Plus was made for, and having someone like Paulie test the mattress was crucial for finessing our overall recommendation and opinion of this mattress. To Paulie, the mattress felt firm (a 7.5 out of 10 on our firmness scale) and supportive. But he could also feel contouring and pressure relief at his shoulders, as well as his lower back.
What Customers Say
With consideration of the mattress’s overall construction and material quality, reviewers comment on how the Titan Plus is a wonderful value buy.
Highlights of the Titan Plus Mattress
This mattress has enough firm support to keep the hips and shoulders of stomach sleepers in one straight line, which is ideal to avoid pain.
The responsiveness of the coils should make it easy for combination sleepers to move around and switch sleeping positions.
The space between the coils leaves plenty of room for airflow, which should be appealing to hot sleepers.
What to Keep In Mind About the Titan Plus Mattress
Side sleepers aren’t likely to have enough sinkage on this bed in order to relieve pressure on their hips and shoulders. Lightweight side sleepers may find they have an even harder time sinking in.

Expert Opinion
A firm mattress is less likely to sag than a softer one, and when it comes to firm beds, you can’t get much firmer than the Plank. An all-foam bed created by Brooklyn Bedding, it’s unique both for how firm it is and for its flippable structure. One side of the mattress has a firm feel and the other side has an extra-firm feel.
I tested out both sides of the Plank Firm in our mattress lab, and found that this bed really does live up to its name. I gave the firm side a score of 7.5 out of 10 on our mattress firmness scale and the ultra-firm side an 8.5 out of 10. No matter which way you flip it, this is going to be a firm, sturdy, and supportive mattress.
What Customers Say
There are currently almost 3,200 customer reviews on the Plank Firm’s website, and the mattress has an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars. Most of the reviews praise the bed for being as firm as advertised, although some folks say that they wish the edge was a little stronger. A soft edge is typical of all-foam mattresses.
Highlights of the Plank Firm Mattress
Back sleepers should be comfortable on the firm side. There’s a slight amount of cushioning for the lumbar region, and the dense foams should give them a good amount of spinal support.
I recommend that stomach sleepers go for the ultra-firm side. They need more support than any other sleeping position, and they should feel the foams lifting their hips and keeping them in line with the shoulders (this is key for maintaining a neutral spinal alignment).
Even though it’s a foam mattress with no springs, there’s enough responsiveness in the Plank Firm for combination sleepers to be able to easily switch sleeping positions.
What to Keep In Mind About the Plank Firm Mattress
The Plank Firm isn’t the best fit for side sleepers. Unlike back sleepers and stomach sleepers, they need a soft mattress that gives them lots of contouring at the shoulders and hips.
We rate each mattress on a scale from 1 to 5 to reflect its overall quality. This number is comprised of individual scores from hands-on testing of materials, firmness, pressure relief, motion transfer, cooling, responsiveness, and more.

The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid mattress combines a foam comfort layer and sturdy coils. This combination of materials makes it bouncy and easy to move around on. It comes in three firmness levels, and we recommend the Medium model for most back sleepers. It’s a great choice for shoppers who are looking for a new mattress on a budget. For more information, check out our video review.
A mattress that doesn’t sag is more likely to give you spinal support, which is crucial for back sleepers. They’ll want a mattress that gives them enough pressure relief at the lumbar region while still giving them enough of a lift to promote a neutral alignment. They might find what they’re looking for in the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid — a simply constructed mattress with memory foam up top and individually encased coils at the bottom.
It’s available in three different firmness levels: Soft, Medium, and Firm. I tested out the Medium, and scored it 6.5 out of 10 on our mattress firmness scale (the industry standard for medium firm). While lying on my back, I got the pressure relief I needed at the lumbar and still felt propped up. To dig a little deeper into how the Signature Hybrid might work for back sleepers, I ran the mattress through our pressure map test, and the graphic lit up almost entirely blue in the back-sleeping position. As one of Brooklyn Bedding’s older models, the Signature Hybrid has plenty of reviews on the brand’s website — nearly 11,000 as of this writing. Many of them say the bed is an ideal fit for back sleepers, with one verified buyer calling it “the greatest mattress I’ve ever owned.”
Highlights of the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Mattress
The three different firmness levels mean there’s something for every sleeping position. I recommend the Medium for back sleepers, Soft for side sleepers, and Firm for stomach sleepers.
The Signature Hybrid is fairly affordable. You can usually get a queen size for under $1,000 after discounts.
I found this to be a fairly cooling mattress, thanks to its airflow-promoting coils. You can also add a cooling cover for an additional $150.
