The Gelee brand is meant to be Intellibed’s more affordable line of high-quality beds. The Gelee H4 is a hybrid mattress built with the company’s proprietary Gel Matrix, coils, and a memory foam topper. The company says this combination of materials allows sleepers to have spinal support and pressure relief.

Is the Gelee H4 a Good Mattress for You?
The Gelee H4 is a hybrid mattress with a softer feel. This type of bed creates a better sleeping experience for some people more than others, so take a look below for a quick overview of who might enjoy this mattress.
Who I recommend the Gelee H4 mattress for
- First off, I’d recommend the Gelee H4 to anyone looking for a plush, sinking-in type feel in a bed. It’s super cushiony and provides great pressure relief.
- I think the Gelee H4 works great for both back and side sleepers. I felt comfortable in both sleeping positions with my spine in alignment and getting the needed body contouring.
- Lastly, the Gelee H4 is a nice match for hot sleepers. It has cooling features, like the phase change material cover and air-promoting coils, to make for a cool sleeping experience.
Who I don’t recommend the Gelee H4 mattress for
- This mattress may not be right for stomach sleepers. It’s too soft of a bed to support these types of sleepers’ hips and keep them elevated. Instead, stomach sleepers will want to look for firmer options, like the ones in our roundup of best mattresses for stomach sleepers.
- If you like to feel more “on top” of a bed than “in it,” then I don’t think the Gelee H4 is the right choice for you.
- Lastly, although a great deal for its materials and being a luxury hybrid bed, the Gelee H4 at full price does run on the more expensive side when comparing it to other online mattresses. But keep in mind we have coupons to help save you money. Gelee also offers similar models for significantly less money too.
How Firm is the Gelee H4 Mattress?
Now that we’ve gone over some basics, let’s get into the finer details of the Gelee H4 — starting with its firmness level.
As with any feel factor, firmness is subjective, and can change a lot depending on your body weight, size, and shape. That’s why I always incorporate a few different opinions into this section. In addition to my own personal thoughts on the Gelee H4’s firmness level, I’m also going to draw on the perspectives of my coworkers.

Now let’s go over a few performance factors of the Gelee H4, including support in different sleeping positions, pressure relief, and performance for couples.
Testing the Gelee H4 Mattress in Different Sleeping Positions
Sleepers with different body types will need different amounts of support, so I want to cover how the Gelee H4 performs for different weight classes in different sleeping positions below.
Is the Gelee H4 a Good Mattress for Light Sleepers (Under 130 lbs)?
- Light Back Sleepers – I think these sleepers would really enjoy the Gelee H4. It’s supportive and allows your hips to sink in just the right amount.
- Light Side Sleepers – Light side sleepers should feel great on the Gelee H4. I think the plush topper will contour nicely around these sleepers’ hips and shoulders.
- Light Stomach Sleepers – The Gelee H4 is too soft for these sleepers. It won’t keep their hips lifted in line with their shoulders, which can lead to back pain.
Is the Gelee H4 a Good Mattress for Average Weight Sleepers (130 – 250 lbs)?
- Average Weight Back Sleepers – These sleepers should feel really comfortable on the Gelee H4! Its slow-moving foam will do an excellent job filling in the space at their lumbar regions, bringing support and pressure relief to their spines.
- Average Weight Side Sleepers – I think these sleepers will get the pressure relief they need at their shoulder and hip on this mattress.
- Average Weight Stomach Sleepers – This bed is also too soft for average weight stomach sleepers. It will allow their hips to sink too far into the mattress, which can cause pain over time.
Is the Gelee H4 a Good Mattress for Heavy Sleepers (over 250 lbs)?
- Heavy Back Sleepers – Heavy back sleepers should feel supported and comfortable on the Gelee H4.
- Heavy Side Sleepers – I think side sleepers between 250 and 300 pounds should get nice pressure relief and support from the Gelee H4. However, those over 300 pounds may want to look for a bed specifically designed for them in order to get optimized sinkage.
- Heavy Stomach Sleepers – This mattress is too soft for these sleepers. I’d recommend these folks check out some other options in our best mattresses for heavy people instead.
Gelee H4 Mattress Pain Relief Performance
How well a bed relieves pressure is very important for a lot of sleepers out there. Whenever I test a bed, I want to see its pressure relief, or how well it could alleviate tension in areas like the shoulders, hips, and lower back.
I test pressure relief out by using a pressure map. The pressure map tracks the force my body exerts on the bed, creating a colored “map” of any pressure points that are triggered. Areas of low pressure are indicated in blue to green, and areas of high pressure are marked in orange to red.
Back Pain – The pressure map results show the Gelee H4 is great for side sleepers and back sleepers with back pain. These sleepers’ spines should stay in alignment on this bed. However, stomach sleepers with back pain will want to look for a firmer mattress to get relief. I’d recommend checking out our roundup of best mattresses for stomach sleepers instead.
Shoulder Pain – Based on these results, I’d recommend the Gelee H4 to side sleepers and back sleepers with shoulder pain. The map shows low pressure around the shoulder and elbow areas when side sleeping, so it could be a nice fit for back or side sleepers with sensitive shoulder joints. Stomach sleepers with shoulder pain should look for a firmer mattress.
Hip Pain – Similar to the shoulder pain results, I think the Gelee H4 would be a great choice for back and side sleepers with hip pain. The map shows low pressure around the hip area in these sleeping positions. The ultra plush memory foam in this bed not only provides pressure point relief for these sleepers, but it also helps promote spinal alignment. Stomach sleepers with hip pain will likely not enjoy this mattress as it will cause their hips to sink in too far. I’d recommend one of our best mattresses for hip pain instead.
Gelee H4 Mattress Performance for Couples
The best mattress for couples typically has a combination of motion isolation, responsiveness, cooling features, and strong edge support. I’ll explain more below about what those terms mean and how the Gelee H4 performs in each category.
Motion Transfer
Motion transfer is how movement carries from one side of the bed to the other. This is especially important if you share the bed with a partner or a pet and don’t want to be awakened by their movements throughout the night.
To illustrate motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
These are great results for motion transfer. What this shows me is most people could sleep on the Gelee H4 with their partner or pet and not be too disrupted by their movements.
Sex
The best mattress for sex is usually responsive and easy to move around on. While the Gelee H4 isn’t very bouncy, it is responsive thanks to its coil system and is easy to change positions on. This means it should be good for sex.
Cooling
People sharing a bed are going to overheat faster than someone sleeping alone, so couples often prefer cooling mattresses. Due to its strong cooling components (that I’ll go over more soon), I think the Gelee H4 would be a great option for couples that are hot sleepers.
Edge Support
Edge support is a measure of how supported you feel on the sides of your bed. Strong edges make a bed feel larger, which is great for couples. It’s also important for people who like to sleep toward the edge of the bed.
In my opinion, the Gelee H4 has great edge support. I credit this to the mattress’ structured edge, which adds support to the entire perimeter of the bed.
What is the Gelee H4 Mattress Made Of?
The Gelee H4 is a 13” mattress with the company’s gel matrix, coils, and more. Here’s the breakdown of the mattress’ layers:
Cover – The Gelee H4’s cover has phase-change cooling fabric, which is great for hot sleepers. It’s also soft to the touch.
Comfort Layer – Below that is Gel Matrix foam. This is super doughy and squishy feeling. The company says the “revolutionary Gel Matrix” helps keep spines aligned while being pressure-relieving.
Support Layer – Next is a layer of ultra-plush HD memory foam. This provides more contouring and comfort.
Base Layer – 8” of individually wrapped coils sit at the bottom of the bed. These make the mattress durable and breathable by allowing airflow. They sit on a final layer of stabilizing base foam to keep everything in place.
There’s also a foam edge surrounding the entire mattress that keeps it supportive and durable.

The company starts their delivery charges at $269. The Gelee H4 ships to your door in a box uncompressed. Average delivery time is 14 business days after shipping’s confirmed. The company will perform a full service set up, which includes setting up your mattress. Gelee asks you take at least 30 days to try out the mattress and if you decide to return it before then, you’ll be responsible for the return shipping. The company also asks you to use a mattress protector in order for the mattress to be eligible to be returned. It comes with a 90-day trial period and a 10-year warranty.
