Parachute Is Landing in New York City this May

Parachute, an online bed and bath company, is opening up its third store in New York City later this month.

The brand’s flagship brick-and-mortar establishment opened in May 2016 in Venice, CA with its second following in Portland, OR in June 2017.Sticking to the trend of opening a retail store every spring/summer, it seems fitting the company’s now moving to The Big Apple.

The new locale will be situated on 129 Grand Street in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood. It’ll be a ground-floor retail space in a five-story residential condominium building. According to one sourcethe company signed a two-year deal, with an option for an additional five years, meaning it’ll be around for a good awhile!

In addition to being Parachute’s first store on the East Coast, it’s also the biggest. The store will be 2,040 square feet – comprised of 1,140 square feet of street-level storefront and 900 square feet of basement space. In comparison, the California location is a modest 450 square feet.

Unfamiliar with Parachute? It’s a woman-owned California-based luxury bedding and home goods company that launched in 2014 and quickly grew in the busy bedding market. In addition to bedding sets, the popular brand also sells bathware — towels, shower curtains, etc — and decor, such as decorative pillows and table runners.

While Parachute doesn’t sell mattresses its website does feature everything else you need to put on top and under them, from duvets and feather beds to a handmade, 100% solid American hardwood bed frame. This frame hit the market in 2017, after explicit customer feedback.

While mainly known for its linens, Parachute has started to expand to furniture and more pieces of decor. Founder Ariel Kaye explains:

As we’ve continued to build the brand, we’ve found that people are drawn not to just our sheets and towels but to the items we have in our shoots—the lights, the furniture, the art. It feels very uniquely Parachute.

If you’re in New York City and interested in checking out their store, do go and let us know what your experience is like!
