Modern lifestyle brand Parachute is entering the mattress market with the launch of its first ever bed.
Parachute burst onto the scene in 2014 and quickly became a well-respected online bath and bed brand, with items ranging from duvets and bath towels to home decor, pet beds, and laundering products. The team expanded to retail in 2016, with the launch of its first store in Venice, California. Since then, four more stores have opened in California, Oregon, and New York.
After conquering linens and sheets, the team decided to develop its own bed to round out the sleep experience for customers. The top layers of The Mattress (yep, that’s the name) include New Zealand wool and 100% organic cotton, while below deck lies a hand-tufted pocketed steel coil system constructed with targeted ergonomic zones to help relieve pressure points and align the spine. An added bonus? All the materials used in the 13″ tall mattress are eco-friendly and non-toxic
When developing the bed, CEO Ariel Kaye explained the team first created a list of things they didn’t want it to include, such as foam, adhesives, petrochemicals, and chemical flame retardants. In her words, they only wanted to feature “quality materials that anyone could understand.”
Wait, Foam-Free?!
Considering how popular foam and hybrid beds have become in recent years, I was curious to know why Parachute deliberately kept foam out of sight. Kaye explains that, in her team’s opinion, foam and latex mattresses “tend to deteriorate, change in feel, and offer less support in just a few years,” whereas the internal coils and soft wool of the Parachute Mattress are meant to provide a more breathable and durable sleep experience.

In another effort to differentiate the mattress in a crowded industry, Parachute will also provide complimentary white-glove delivery, which includes set up and old mattress removal. Currently, you can purchase The Mattress in the contiguous 48 states, enjoy a 90-night sleep trial, and receive a limited 10-year warranty. It’s designed to fit most bed frames and comes in a variety of sizes which range in price from $1,299 to $2,199.
While the Parachute team seemed a bit tight-lipped as for what’s to come, they did share that 2019 would include new product categories and retail locations. We’ll be on the lookout so you can be the first to know about the next big thing from Parachute.
