For over 40 years, Sam’s Club has been a popular choice among buyers looking for huge savings. Owned by Wal-Mart and operating under a membership-only model, this chain of retail warehouses has over 69 million members and sells everything from groceries to appliances to sporting goods and, yes, mattresses.
The mattress inventory at Sam’s Club includes their own brand, Member’s Mark, as well as models from several different players in the bed-in-a-box industry. In this roundup, I’ll cover some of our favorites, in addition to offering some alternative options for customers who may not have a Sam’s Club membership. I’ll also discuss the pros and cons of becoming a member, and recommend who each bed might be a good fit for.
I should note that we’ve tried out each of our alternative choices in Sleepopolis’ mattress lab, testing out each one in categories such as cooling, motion isolation, support, pressure relief, and more. Through this rigorous testing process, we’ve helped 12,544 customers find their ideal new mattress in 2024 alone.

Member’s Mark Hotel Premier Memory Foam – Best Overall
Expert Opinion
As the standard memory foam mattress of the Member’s Mark brand, this bed has a universally appealing construction of memory foam up top, followed by ventilated air channel foam in the middle, and durable support foam at the bottom. Essentially, the mattress starts off soft and gets firmer toward the bottom, creating a blend of comfort and support that should give you some cushioning without causing you to sink too far into the bed. It’s also available in three different firmnesses: Medium, Firm, and Ultra Plush. I usually recommend that back sleepers go for a medium mattress, side sleepers go for something softer, and stomach sleepers opt for a firmer bed.
What Customers Say
On the Sam’s Club website, it has an average customer rating of 4.3 out of 5 stars, sourced from over 4,300 reviews. Most folks seem to comment on the affordable price (a given for any Sam’s Club mattress), with some of them saying that it’s actually more comfortable than some of the pricier beds out there. “Just as good as Nectar,” wrote one five-star review. “I have both.” (more on Nectar in a bit).
Pros of the Member’s Mark Hotel Premier Memory Foam Mattress
- The three firmness options allow it to appeal to a wide variety of sleepers.
- Even a queen size is well under $1,000 before any discounts, making this a very affordable memory foam mattress.
- Although memory foam tends to sleep hot due to its thickness, the Hotel Premier Memory Foam mattress has an infusion of gel in the comfort layer to stave off heat.
Cons of the Member’s Mark Hotel Premier Memory Foam Mattress
- It currently isn’t available for delivery, which could be an issue for sleepers with mobility issues or anyone who doesn’t have someone else to help set up the bed.
Member’s Mark Hotel Premier Memory Foam Alternative – Nectar
The Nectar delivers a balance of comfort and support: it’s definitely contouring, but still provides a firm enough foundation for most light to average weight sleepers, especially if they sleep on their back or stomach. Plus, a lengthy trial period, lifetime warranty, and affordable price make the Nectar a reassuring choice for many. Watch our video review to learn more.
One of my personal favorite memory foam mattresses is the Nectar. It’s actually the bed I sleep on at home. Like the Member’s Mark Hotel Premier, it’s constructed entirely of foam, with softer material up top and firmer material toward the bottom. Even though it’s a memory foam mattress, it has more of a medium-firm feel, with a lot of support and responsiveness. Whenever I lie on it, I get a nice lift and feel like my spine is neutrally aligned. I find it especially comfortable for back sleeping and side sleeping.

Serta Perfect Sleeper Delfino Nights Pillow Top – Best Innerspring Mattress
Expert Opinion
One of the renowned mattress brands featured at Sam’s Club is Serta. With their Perfect Sleeper mattress, they’ve created a bed with a traditional innerspring feel, due to its layer of 850 innerspring coils. These springs are divided into three zones, each with a different level of support. This construction is designed to give certain areas of the mattress — such as the center — a bigger lift than others. But to prevent the mattress from being too firm, there’s a gentle pillow top and a little bit of foam at the top. Serta says this creates a medium-firm feel. That said, there are two different firmness options available (Medium and Firm), so this might vary depending on what model you choose.
What Customers Say
There are a little 150 reviews of the Perfect Sleeper mattress on the Sam’s Club website, with an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars. Several customers commented on how it’s a much more comfortable bed than a more expensive option such as a Sleep Number.
Pros of the Serta Perfect Sleeper Delfino Nights Pillow Top Mattress
- The cover is designed to feel cool to the touch, which should appeal to hot sleepers.
- It comes with a 120-night sleep trial, so you can test out the bed and see if it’s a good fit for you.
- The mattress comes with a anti-microbial treatment that keeps away allergens, odors, and dust.
Cons of the Serta Perfect Sleeper Delfino Nights Pillow Top Mattress
- Shipping is available for the mattress, but only if you’re a Sam’s Club member.
Serta Perfect Sleeper Delfino Nights Pillow Top Alternative – Saatva
The Saatva’s coil-on-coil construction provides a classic innerspring feel. It’s a good option for combo sleepers, who will want to feel free to switch positions and avoid feeling “stuck” in the mattress. It comes in three firmness levels, so you should be able to find one that suits your needs. The white glove delivery Saatva provides is an added perk and will save you the headache of getting rid of your old mattress (they take it away for free!). For more information, watch our video review.
Saatva has also created a bed with a traditional innerspring feel via their flagship mattress, the Saatva Classic. It has a layer of tall innerspring coils at the bottom, along with another layer of smaller microcoils. When I tested out the Saatva, it was bouncy and responsive with an on-top-of-the-bed feel. Like the Serta mattress, it also comes outfitted with a Euro pillow top for a little bit of cushioning. Overall, I experienced the Saatva as medium firm, but it does come in three different firmness levels: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, and Firm. I tested the Luxury Firm, and think it’s a good fit for back sleepers and stomach sleepers alike, thanks to all of the support offered by the coils (these sleeping positions both need more support than side sleepers).

Sealy Dreamlife – Best Value
Expert Opinion
At under $500 for a queen size, the Sealy Dreamlife is a high-quality memory foam mattress offered at a bargain price. The material is meant to have a medium-firm feel, with softer, gel-infused memory foam up top and firmer support foam at the bottom. It’s designed to provide some pressure relief to the sleeper while still keeping them well-supported.
What Customers Say
While there are currently only 30 reviews of the Sealy Dreamlife on the Sam’s Club website, they’re mostly positive, with an average rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars. All of them praise the bed for being comfortable, although a handful of folks say that you should give the mattress 72 hours to decompress once it’s out of the box.
Pros of the Sealy Dreamlife Mattress
- It’s much cheaper than other quality memory foam mattresses on the market.
- Medium-firm mattresses tend to be comfortable for back sleepers and some side sleepers.
- The gel infusion should help keep the mattress cool.
Cons of the Sealy Dreamlife Mattress
- There aren’t a ton of bells and whistles here. If you want a mattress with more upgrades, you may want to look at our list of the best luxury mattresses.
Sealy Dreamlife Alternative – DreamCloud Memory Foam
With soft foam and a sturdy layer of innerspring coils, the DreamCloud strikes a balance between comfort and support — a little bit of contouring up top and on-top-of-the-bed feel that comes from the bottom. It’s a fairly firm mattress that we think is most comfortable for back sleepers. It also has some luxury touches such as a cashmere-blend cover that are reminiscent of a high-end hotel. Learn more in our DreamCloud video review.
There are plenty of high-quality memory foam mattresses out there, and one of my favorites is the DreamCloud Memory Foam. It has a similar feel to the brand’s flagship mattress, the DreamCloud Hybrid, but without coils in the construction. Overall, I scored this bed a 7.5 out of 10 on our mattress firmness scale, so it’s definitely more firm than it is pressure relieving or contouring. I recommend it for average weight back sleepers and stomach sleepers who prefer to sleep more “on top” of the bed than “in” it. There’s also a hybrid version of this mattress on the DreamCloud website, so make sure you click the Memory Foam option before purchasing.

Member’s Mark Hybrid – Best Hybrid Mattress
Expert Opinion
Hybrid mattresses usually contain a substantial amount of both foam and coils in order to give the sleeper the best of both worlds. When lying down on the Member’s Mark Hybrid, they’re likely to experience a blend of spinal support (courtesy of a layer of innerspring coils) and pressure relief at their lower back, shoulders, and hips (courtesy of a thick layer of memory foam).
What Customers Say
Throughout the 400 customer reviews currently on the Sam’s Club website, many of them praise this hybrid mattress’s medium-firm feel. That said, a handful of sleepers claimed that the bed’s support began to wane over time. It has an average customer rating of 4.2 out of 5 stars.
Pros of the Member’s Mark Hybrid Mattress
- It has reinforced edge support, which is designed to let you (and possibly a partner) spread out and use the entire surface of the bed.
- The memory foam layer has an infusion gel for cooling.
- The mattress comes outfitted with a cooling cover that’s washable.
Cons of the Member’s Mark Hybrid Mattress
- It may be heavier to set up than an all-foam mattress due to the coils.
Member’s Mark Hybrid Alternative – Helix Midnight
The Helix Midnight is amongst Helix’s line of six standard mattresses. It’s known for its more balanced feel, allowing it to accommodate a wide range of sleepers. We also recommend it for couples, as it scored well on our motion isolation, responsiveness, edge support, and cooling tests. For a plusher and more cooling version of this mattress, see the Helix Midnight Luxe. Learn more in our video review.
When it comes to a high-quality, no-fuss hybrid mattress, Helix is one of the most lauded names in the sleep industry. The brand was founded on their original line of six hybrid mattresses, each with a different level of firmness. Their medium-firm option is the Helix Midnight, although after lying on it, I found it to be closer to medium soft. Either way, it was comfortable while both back sleeping and side sleeping. I got a decent amount of pressure relief at my shoulders and hips without feeling like I was sinking too far into the bed.

Best Pillow Top Mattress – Scott Living Plush Eurotop
Expert Opinion
A pillow top is essentially an extra bit of quilted cushioning stitched into the top of the mattress. Functionally, it adds a bit of elegance to the bed, in addition to providing sleepers with a touch of softness before they compress into the rest of the layers, including a stretch of innerspring coils at the bottom. If you’re a Sam’s Club shopper in search of a pillow top, Scott Living offers a plush, extra-tall mattress that’s 14 inches in height. It could be an especially good fit for those looking for a soft mattress.
What Customers Say
There are currently only 43 reviews of the Scott Living Plush Eurotop mattress on the Sam’s Club website, with an average customer rating of 4.3 out of 5 stars. Most of them say that the pillow top is indeed doing its job, and that they felt pressure relief. However, a handful of customers found the mattress to be too soft.
Pros of the Scott Living Plush Eurotop Mattress
- There are four layers of coils above the springs, creating a soft feel.
- The cover is designed to wick away moisture and help you sleep cool.
- Unlike the Member’s Mark brand, the mattress comes with a 10-year warranty.
Cons of the Scott Living Plush Eurotop Mattress
- At 14 inches tall and with a layer of coils, it’s likely to be heavier to set up than some of the other mattresses on this list.
Scott Living Plush Eurotop Alternative – Nolah Evolution
The Nolah Evolution’s hybrid construction offers the cushioning of memory foam with the responsiveness of coils. The Luxury Firm model is a good option for side and back sleepers due to its medium-firm feel, though there are Plush and Firm versions as well. Those who share a bed may also appreciate its low motion transfer, so you won’t be disturbed by a partner’s movements and its solid edge support to allow you to maximize surface area. For more information, check out our video review.
The Nolah Evolution consistently ranks on our list of the best pillow top mattresses. That’s because it’s made with extra-luxurious materials, such as Nolah’s proprietary AirFoam (a more cooling alternative to standard memory foam) and an organic cotton cover. When I laid down on it, I felt “hugged” by the foams and experienced a lot of pressure relief at my lower back in the back-sleeping position, and at my shoulders and hips in the side-sleeping position. Overall, I found the mattress to be medium firm, although I tested the Luxury Firm model. It’s also available in a Plush model that’s going to feel softer and a Firm model that’s going to feel firmer. Also, I think it’s a good alternative to the Scott Living Plush Eurotop mattress because they’re similar in height, with Nolah coming in at 15 inches and Scott Living coming in at 14 inches.

Member’s Mark Hotel Premier Hybrid – Best Luxury Mattress
Expert Opinion
As the luxury upgrade of the standard Member’s Mark Hybrid mattress, the Hotel Premier Hybrid has extra luxury touches such as a cool-to-the-touch cover and a graphite infusion in the memory foam layer, which can further assist with temperature regulation. The coils are also both simultaneously more supportive and pliant than those found in the standard model. They’re designed to conform to the needs of every sleeping position (for example, supporting stomach sleepers at the hips, while contouring side sleepers at the shoulders). Finally, there’s an extra two inches of height on the Hotel Premier Hybrid.
What Customers Say
As one of the newer mattresses from Member’s Mark, the Hotel Premier Hybrid only has 19 customer reviews on the brand’s website, with an average rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars. Most sleepers were satisfied, with two of them saying they wish the mattress was a little bit firmer.
Pros of the Member’s Mark Hotel Premier Hybrid Mattress
- Between the graphite infusion and the airflow-promoting coils, this is likely to be a fairly cooling mattress.
- For a luxury mattress, the Hotel Premier Hybrid is very affordable, with a queen size available for under $1,000 before any discounts.
- It’s available in three different firmness levels: Plush, Medium, and Firm. Although the brand says each model is comfortable for any sleeping position, I recommend the Plush for side sleepers, Medium for back sleepers, and Firm for stomach sleepers.
Cons of the Member’s Mark Hotel Premier Hybrid Mattress
- At 14 inches tall, it might not be the best option for any sleepers with mobility issues.
Member’s Mark Premier Hybrid Alternative – Bear Elite Hybrid
The Bear Elite Hybrid uses foam and coils for a mix of support, cushioning, and cooling. While designed for athletes prioritizing wellness and recovery, sleepers of all activity levels can enjoy the many luxurious features. Enjoy zoned support for targeted relief, an “on top of” feel allowing for ease of movement, and cooling features throughout. For more information, watch our video review.
What our tester says:
“I’d recommend the Bear Elite Hybrid for most back and stomach sleepers.I think these sleepers will get the needed pressure relief and contouring around the lower back and hips. This mattress does a wonderful job at offering body contouring while still helping the sleeper stay elevated and lifted as well. The layers of foam should provide comfort while the coil system should offer lots of support.” – Nichole Mondshein, lead reviewer and mattress tester
Another luxury hybrid mattress that’s similar to the Hotel Premier is the Bear Elite Hybrid. Like the Hotel Premier, it has several foam layers up top and coils at the bottom. It’s also available in three different firmness levels: Soft, Medium, and Firm. I tested the Medium and found it to have a soft feel, scoring it at 6 out of 10 on our mattress firmness scale. While I felt somewhat comfortable in all three sleeping positions, I recommend that side sleepers choose the Soft, back sleepers choose the Medium, and stomach sleepers choose the Firm, just like with the Hotel Premier Hybrid.

Brooklyn Bedding Essential – Best Medium-Firm Mattress
Expert Opinion
Brooklyn Bedding actually manufactures their mattresses at their own factory, then ships them across the country. But they also sell them at retailers such as Sam’s Club. Here at Sleepopolis, we’ve actually tested all of their beds, including the Brooklyn Bedding Essential — their value option. It has a simple hybrid construction of thin foam up top, with an 8-inch section of coils at the bottom. This resulted in a medium-firm feel when I laid on it, and I found it to be most comfortable while back sleeping and stomach sleeping. I don’t think it’s very comfortable while side sleeping since I didn’t get a lot of pressure relief at my shoulders and hips.
What Customers Say
On the Sam’s Club website, the Brooklyn Bedding Essential has 44 customer reviews and an overall customer rating of 4.4 out of 5 stars. Most folks say they appreciate the bed’s firmness, while a few people said they softened it up by adding a mattress topper.
Pros of the Brooklyn Bedding Essential Mattress
- I found the Essential to be very cooling. I even checked its temperature after I laid down on it for five minutes, and the mattress heated up less than 5 degrees. This indicates excellent cooling capabilities.
- This is a true value mattress. Even on the Brooklyn Bedding website (which tends to be a bit more expensive than Sam’s Club), you can usually find a queen size for under $1,000 after discounts.
- The Essential is adept at isolating motion. That means if you sleep with a partner, you’re unlikely to feel each other tossing and turning at night. When I measured the bed’s vibrations with a seismometer while lying down on it and rolling around, the vibrations were very low, which indicates low motion transfer.
Cons of the Brooklyn Bedding Essential Mattress
- There aren’t a ton of upgraded features on this mattress. However, Brooklyn Bedding has a luxury option, the Aurora Luxe. Note: this mattress isn’t available at Sam’s Club.
- I think this mattress is a touch too firm for side sleepers.
Brooklyn Bedding Essential Alternative – Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid mattress combines a foam comfort layer and sturdy coils. This combination of materials makes it bouncy and easy to move around on. It comes in three firmness levels, and we recommend the Medium model for most back sleepers. It’s a great choice for shoppers who are looking for a new mattress on a budget. For more information, check out our video review.
One of Brooklyn Bedding’s most popular mattresses — but not one sold at Sam’s Club — is the Signature Hybrid. Like the Essential, it’s a streamlined medium-firm hybrid, but with a few added features. For instance, it has a quilted top and a thicker layer of memory foam that gives it just a bit more pressure relief for side sleepers. I felt comfortable in this position, and also when I was back sleeping and stomach sleeping. That said, I should note that neither the Essential nor the Signature is going to be soft enough for any side sleepers experiencing joint pain. They’d be better off checking out our best mattresses for arthritis or our best soft mattresses.

Pros of Buying a Sam’s Club Mattress
- Cost: The Member’s Mark brand is consistently less expensive than other mattress brands on the market, and even the non-Sam’s Club brands such as Sealy, Serta, and Brooklyn Bedding are usually offered at a cheaper price point in the store than online.
- In-store Trial: Because Sam’s Club has brick-and-mortar locations, you can try out the mattress in the store to see how it feels to you. You can’t do this if you’re just buying a mattress online.
- Customer service: If you’re shopping for a Sam’s Club mattress in the store and have questions, you can find an employee to assist you in real time, rather than waiting for a customer service agent to respond online.
Cons of Buying a Sam’s Club Mattress
- Warranty: Many of the brands sold at Sam’s Club don’t have as generous a warranty or trial period as what you’d find online.
- Selection: Sam’s Club inventory for non-store brands isn’t going to be as extensive as what you’ll find online. For instance, you can currently find the Brooklyn Bedding Essential at Sam’s Club, but not other Brooklyn Bedding mattresses such as the Aurora Luxe, Titan Plus, or Plank Firm.
- Membership: To shop at Sam’s Club, you have to have a membership, which costs extra. That said, there’s a good chance you’ll still get your money’s worth and then some due to all the steep discounts at the store.
