The Company: King Koil
While King Koil might not the most popular brand name, it’s been around for a long while and has a large, global presence today. The King Koil Licensing Company is established as a global brand and provider of high-quality mattresses, with over 30 licensees worldwide servicing over 90 countries. The company was founded in 1898, which was then called United States Bedding. Throughout the early 1900s, the founder Samuel Bronstein grew his team, expanded manufacturing, and became an innovator when it came down to the bedspring. That’s how the new name — King Koil — was born.
King Koil World Luxury Collection: Construction
The King Koil World Luxury collection features three different mattress models that all are a bit different. Here’s what we’ll be looking at today:
- Ambrose Firm
- Ambrose Cushion Firm
- Florence Plush
- Florence Euro Top
- Bordeaux Extra-Firm
- Bordeaux Cushion Firm
- Bordeaux Plush
- Bordeaux Euro Top
Let’s look into the construction each mattress now:
King Koil World Luxury Ambrose (Firm and Cushion Firm) and Florence (Plush and Euro Top)
Despite the name difference, these two mattress models have similar construction components. The only difference is the comfort level, along with what the base is made out of.
Comfort layer: The Ambrose and Florence comfort surface incorporates Tencel fibers, Tencel is both durable and gentle on the skin and is known for providing comfort and keeping you cool, given its ability to promote the body’s natural thermal regulating mechanism. The comfort layer also includes special latex lumbar support, which aims to provide additional back support and comfort.
Coil system: These mattresses contain King Koil’s Contour Elite Encased Coil System, which has 858 independently wrapped coils that are designed to isolate motion and relieve pressure throughout the body.
Base: The base of the Ambrose mattress model is made from a densified fiber pad and also includes a natural wood foundation. For Florence, the base is made from Everlast® Base Foam.
Other features: This mattress (like all King Koil beds) includes an Excellent Edge™ Foam Encasement, which is said to provide stability and support so you don’t feel like you’re rolling off the bed. The mattress is also endorsed by the International Chiropractors Association (ICA) and thus is designed to help promote proper spinal alignment.
King Koil World Luxury Bordeaux (Extra-Firm, Cushion Firm, Plush, Euro Top)
Comfort layer: The Bordeaux comfort surface also incorporates these Tencel fibers, along with the latex lumbar support for extra back support and comfort. However, another layer is now added: King Koil’s iFusion technology, which is a gel-infused, cooling memory foam.
Coil system: This mattress model also features King Koil’s Contour Elite Encased Coil System: 858 independently wrapped coils that focus on pressure relief and motion control.
Base: The base of the Bordeaux mattress model is made from Everlast® Base Foam and includes a natural wood foundation.
Other features: Yep, same goes here as well: This mattress has the Excellent Edge™ Foam Encasement and International Chiropractors Association (ICA) endorsement.
King Koil World Luxury Feel
When it comes to comfort levels, you have lots of options here. From super soft to extra firm, picky sleepers shouldn’t have an issue finding the right amount of softness and support they need, depending on their sleep position and preference.
While there are quite a few mattress models here, let’s start with some key similarities between them all. These mattresses are classic hybrids, meaning they are constructed with an innerspring system with layers of foam above it. However, the key difference is the types of foam used above the coil system. Hybrid beds are said to bring “best of both worlds” to your mattress makeup; you typically feel the bounce and coolness from the coils, with the comfort and hugging qualities of foam. Read our best hybrid mattress list to learn more about these beds.
That said, the Ambrose and Florence models include latex foam in their comfort layer, while the Bordeaux features gel-infused memory foam. Latex foam tends to have more elasticity than memory foam, which translates to a faster response time and more bounce. On the flip side, memory foam mattresses will hug and contour to pressure, providing a slower response time and less bounce. Sleeping on latex means a lighter feel and a more generalized compression. For memory foam lovers, you’ll get deep pressure relief and hug.
Lastly, both Florence and Bordeaux mattresses include a Euro top option, which gives off a different feel than traditional plush or firm beds. With Euro top beds, you’ll find padding underneath the top cover that is flush with the mattress edge. You’ll get extra cushioning at the center of your mattress with a firm feel near the edge.
King Koil World Luxury Collection Vs. Others
Since there are many mattresses in the King Koil World Luxury Collection, it’s hard to just compare them all to one mattress. While no two beds are alike, here’s a general idea of how the King Koil World Luxury beds compare to a few other well-known hybrid mattresses:
For hybrid mattresses that are budget-friendly and include gel-infused foam and latex comfort surfaces, check out the eLuxury Supply Hybrid Mattress, which will provide a medium-firm feel, keep cool, and relieve pressure. The Cedar Mattress is another hybrid bed that includes latex in its comfort layer, but also has an extra layer of wool on top. It will provide good bounce and pressure relief.
Lastly, the Euro top models in the King Koil collection will compare well to DreamCloud, offering that great balance of plush comfort and sturdy support.

Is the King Koil World Luxury Collection Right for You?
Here’s a solid summary of why the King Koil World Luxury Collection might be right for you.
You prefer softer beds. Like we just wrote above, there are more plush options than firm in the World Luxury collection. Even King Koil rates its firm beds at about a 5 out of 10 on the firmness scale, so don’t let its title fool you. Soft mattresses are great, especially if you sleep on your side. They can help support the lower back and are generally cozy.
You are focused on body alignment. According to the company, King Koil is the only mattress manufacturer endorsed by the International Chiropractors Association, which means each mattress is designed to help keep your body in proper alignment.
You sleep with a partner. Since these beds are designed to limit motion throughout the mattress, these mattresses are ideal for couples.
King Koil World Luxury Collection Summary
