Saatva is an online mattress retailer known for its “luxury mattresses made affordable” tagline. We’ve put this claim to the test with a number of Saatva’s beds and found that when it comes to high-quality and eco-friendly beds, the Saatva Latex Hybrid is a great choice. Not only has this mattress obtained four distinct third-party certifications to ensure the safety and quality of the materials, but it also has luxury touches, such as a wool quilted cover, antimicrobial treatment, and recycled steel coils. In this review, I’ll break down everything you need to know about this latex mattress, including its construction, performance during testing, and company policies.
I’m a certified sleep science coach and have been testing and reviewing mattresses for three years with Sleepopolis. Since 2014, our team of expert testers has tested more than 300 mattresses in our Charlotte, NC, studio. We’ve helped a total of 60,108 people find the best mattress for them based on our medically approved testing methodology.
We work closely with a network of sleep specialists and medical professionals, including board-certified doctors, registered nurses, physical therapists, and chiropractors. These experts review our findings and ensure we are making accurate recommendations. We work especially closely with our Chief Medical Advisor Dr. Raj Dasgupta, MD, FACP, FCCP, FAASM, who provides us with medical advice for common sleep complaints, such as joint pain, trouble staying cool, and improper spinal alignment.
When we tested the Saatva Latex Hybrid, we found it most compatible with back sleeping due to its medium-firm feel that supports all body types. Its buoyant latex layer and bouncy spring coils also made this bed stand out during our responsiveness tests, making it easy for combination sleepers to switch between sleeping positions.
The Saatva’s coil-on-coil construction provides a classic innerspring feel. It’s a good option for combo sleepers, who will want to feel free to switch positions and avoid feeling “stuck” in the mattress. It comes in three firmness levels, so you should be able to find one that suits your needs. The white glove delivery Saatva provides is an added perk and will save you the headache of getting rid of your old mattress (they take it away for free!). For more information, watch our video review.
What our tester says:
“The Saatva Classic’s springy surface is perfect for combination sleepers looking for ease of movement as they toss and turn throughout the night. Also, back sleepers are perhaps best suited to the bed’s lifted support and balanced cushioning from the pillow top.” – Livvi DiCicco, staff writer and certified sleep science coach
Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress Overview
The Saatva Latex Hybrid is a 12-inch tall mattress made from organic cotton, organic New Zealand wool, natural Talalay latex, and recycled steel coils. In terms of firmness, we rated it a 6.5 out of 10 on our firmness scale, making it a true medium-firm bed. The cover quilted with wool provides some nice cushioning at the joints, while the latex foam and innerspring coil layer give the sleeper a lifted feel.
When it comes to company policies, you really can’t get much better than the Saatva. The company offers a 365-night sleep trial period on all mattresses, which means you’re eligible for returns for a full year. The mattress also comes with a lifetime warranty, which protects you against manufacturing defects or premature sagging. While many online mattresses arrive at your doorstep compressed in a box, Saatva offers free white glove delivery. A team of workers will set up your new mattress for you in the room of your choice and even dispose of your old mattress at no additional cost.
In addition to the 5-out-of-5 star company policies, we found outstanding pressure relief in the back-sleeping position, which also earned 5 stars in our testing. We were particularly impressed with the bed’s responsiveness, which earned it another perfect 5-star score, as well as its 4-star cooling abilities. When we combined all of our testing scores together, the Saatva Latex Hybrid mattress earned an overall score of 4.5 stars.

Saatva Latex Hybrid Value
We assess the value of a mattress by considering the quality of its materials and construction, and whether its overall performance matches the price. The Saatva Latex Hybrid offers excellent value for its price, especially for shoppers seeking a luxury, eco-friendly mattress. The bed uses premium materials that have obtained multiple third-party certifications that verify it meets strict safety and environmental standards. These certifications include Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS), eco-INSTITUT, and GREENGUARD Gold.
The Saatva Latex Hybrid is firmly in the luxury category. At full retail, a queen size costs $2,499. While this may seem high, it’s fairly standard for a luxury mattress. There are plenty of luxury mattresses out there with lower-quality materials and a higher price tag. While the mattress doesn’t outperform cheaper mattresses in every area, based on our testing, we think the overall quality of materials and thoughtful construction justify the cost.
What Is the Saatva Latex Hybrid Made Of?
When we evaluate what’s inside a mattress, we actually look inside the mattress. We use a box cutter to cut into the side of the bed and examine each individual layer.
The Saatva Latex Hybrid is, obviously, a hybrid mattress, so it includes both foams and coils in its construction. The latex foam in this bed is made from GOLS-certified, natural Talalay latex, so it’s free from toxic chemicals, emissions, or pollutants. The bed also contains recycled steel coils, a flame retardant barrier made from GOTS-certified organic New Zealand wool. If you struggle with allergies, you can appreciate the mattress cover that has an antimicrobial treatment.
Unlike many other online mattress retailers, Saatva is not a bed-in-a-box company. Instead, each mattress comes with free white glove delivery. A team of workers will arrive with the bed and set it up in any room for you. This means the mattress comes at its full size and will not be compressed in a box, so there’s no off-gassing scent or inflation period.

Cover – A soft, organic cotton cover that’s quilted with wool for initial cushioning and natural flame retardance.
Comfort Layer – A thick 3-inch layer of Talalay latex that’s zoned for support, meaning its firmness fluctuates depending on where the sleeper needs more or less lift.
Support Layer – An 8-inch layer of individually wrapped coils that move independently from each other. Like the latex layer, the coils are zoned for support.

Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress Firmness
Mattress firmness is one of the factors that can be tricky to pin down. How a mattress feels to you is largely dependent on your individual body type, sleeping position, and personal preference. What feels soft or firm to you may feel completely different to someone else. To get a better understanding of how a mattress actually feels, we invite several expert testers to lie on the bed in three sleeping positions and provide their personal firmness rating. We then find the average of all the ratings to create our final firmness score.
We rate firmness on a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is the softest and 10 is the firmest. A true medium-firm mattress falls at a 6.5 out of 10, which is exactly where the Saatva Latex Hybrid lands. It provides a balance between soft cushioning from the foam layers and firm support from the innerspring coil layer.
When we tried this medium-firm latex mattress, we found it most compatible with back sleeping. The coil layer does a fantastic job of lifting the sleeper up and out of the mattress, thus placing the spine in a straight neutral line. The top layers add a touch of plushness that feels great along the entire body, especially in the lower lumbar region.

Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress Performance
Mattress construction and firmness are two crucial factors to consider, but they’re not the only elements that matter. I tested the Saatva Latex Hybrid in our Sleepopolis studio with help from my fellow testers Erin Chiles, Marten Carlson, and Asha Birjah to assess it for pressure relief, motion isolation, responsiveness, cooling, and edge support.
We performed both subjective and objective tests to better understand how the mattress may perform for different kinds of sleepers, which allows us to make very specific recommendations. Below, I’ll go over each test and how the Saatva Latex Hybrid scored.
Saatva Latex Hybrid Pressure Relief Performance
When we evaluate a mattress for pressure relief, we assess how evenly our weight is distributed across the mattress, as well as how much cushioning we’re experiencing at our hips and shoulders. When it comes to mattresses, Dr. Dasgupta says improper support or low-quality materials can cause discomfort at these sensitive pressure points.
We test pressure relief in our studio using a specialized mat that senses pressure. We roll it onto the bed, then lie on it in the back- and side-sleeping positions. The results are then translated into a visual graphic using color-coded thermal imagery. Areas displaying blue and green indicate good pressure relief, while yellow and red suggest more pressure building.

The mat also shows each sleeper’s average pressure in PSI, which stands for pounds per square inch. This gives us a quantitative look at how evenly their weight is distributed, and we compare this number to the overall average mattress PSI for each position. The average mattress PSI is 14.9 in the side-sleeping position and 12.4 in the back-sleeping position, so we want to see equivalent or lower PSI scores from our testers.
Speaking of our testers, we invite testers from different weight classes to lie on the pressure mat on their back and sides to get a better understanding of how the bed performs for different body types. Your weight is one of the main factors that determines how much pressure relief you’ll experience on a mattress. For example, heavy sleepers weighing more than 230 pounds typically sink further into a bed’s layers and experience them as softer than average. Lightweight sleepers weighing less than 130 pounds usually only get cushioning from the top layer, as they don’t sink as far into the other layers.
When our testers performed the pressure map test on the Saatva Latex Hybrid, they gave it an average of 5 stars for the back-sleeping position and 3.7 stars for the side-sleeping position. In both positions, our lightweight and average-weight testers had lower PSIs than average, indicating good pressure relief. However, our heavy tester’s PSI was slightly higher than average, which suggests heavy sleepers may need a more supportive bed to prevent “bottoming out.”
In the side-sleeping position, our average-weight tester Erin Chiles felt great spinal alignment but wished there was a bit more cushioning at her shoulder. Most lightweight and average-weight side sleepers will find good pressure relief on the Saatva Latex Hybrid, but side sleepers with preexisting shoulder pain may need a plusher model with more contouring.

Our testers much preferred the back-sleeping position, each providing a perfect 5-star rating. The pressure map displayed a lower PSI score than average for all three body types, which indicates excellent pressure relief in this position. While our heavy tester Caine Wilkes felt pressure building when lying on his side, he said, “This feels a lot better on my back. I’m getting great spinal alignment and lumbar support.” Erin echoed the lumbar support praise, saying the Saatva Latex Hybrid is one of the only beds she has tried where her lower back feels very supported.

To summarize, this mattress is an excellent match for back sleepers of all body types. The medium-firm feel provides both support and pressure relief to create a balanced sleeping experience. Most average and lightweight side sleepers can also find good spinal alignment on this bed, but it’s not a great match for heavy people or those with shoulder pain.
Saatva Latex Hybrid Motion Isolation
Motion isolation is something couples may want to pay attention to, especially if one or both partners sleep lightly or tend to toss and turn. In this test, we evaluate whether or not a mattress is able to absorb motion and impact and prevent the sleeper on the other side from feeling it. Dr. Dasgupta emphasizes the importance of motion isolation when selecting a mattress, as continuous disturbance can affect the restorativeness of your sleep. We test for motion isolation using a ripple test and a partner test. Since this bed contains bouncy latex and springs, it struggled to completely muffle movement, so it earned 3.7 stars.
We began our ripple test by placing a full tub of water on one side of the mattress. I then climbed in and out of bed on the other side and switched between sleeping positions. We observed the liquid in the tub and whether my movement caused it to ripple or slosh. When I was getting in bed, the water in the tub barely moved. At most, there were a few small ripples, but nothing too concerning. However, the water moved a lot more when I began switching between positions. It didn’t splash up the sides of the tub or move around too much. This indicates good motion isolation, so we gave the mattress 4.5 stars for the ripple test.

Next, I lay on the bed wearing a blindfold while my testing partner tossed and turned beside me. I could feel pretty much every move she made, and it felt like I was on a water bed. As she switched between sleeping positions, my body was jostled around. The mattress didn’t seem to be absorbing her motion and preventing it from traveling to my side of the bed. This was surprising considering how well the ripple test went. Since I could clearly feel my partner moving next to me, I gave the mattress 2 stars for this test.

Based on the above tests, I think light sleepers are very likely to wake up due to a restless partner’s motion. While the plush cover helped absorb some motion, you can still feel the pocketed coils and latex moving, which may cause sleep disturbance. If you or your partner are deep sleepers, you should be fine on this bed. However, its lack of motion isolation is definitely something to keep in mind.
Saatva Latex Hybrid Responsiveness
Responsiveness refers to how quickly the bed returns to its original shape after pressure has been applied. Typically, memory foam mattresses have a slow response to pressure, so the bed doesn’t rise back quickly. However, latex foam is much bouncier and therefore more responsive. We found excellent results from the Saatva Latex Hybrid on all four of our responsiveness tests, so it was awarded the full 5 stars.
Switch test: First, I assessed how easy it was to move around on the Saatva Latex Hybrid by switching from my back to my side to my stomach. Since the latex and coils provide a ton of bounce, it was super easy to transition between positions. The bed was able to spring me from one position to the next. I gave the switch test 5 out of 5 stars because combination sleepers likely won’t feel inhibited when trying to move around at night.
Responsiveness test: Next, I performed an objective test to collect quantitative data on the mattress’s response time. I started by placing a 53-pound kettlebell on the mattress for seven seconds to allow it to fully sink in, and then pulled it straight up. I used a stopwatch to record how many seconds it took for the bed to return to form, which was only 0.3 seconds. This is near instantaneous, so the bed earns 5 stars on this test.

Sinkage test: This test measures exactly how much sinkage a mattress offers. I placed the 53-pound kettlebell back on the mattress and used a ruler to measure how far it sank in. I found 3.6 inches of sinkage, which is pretty consistent with the 3.3-inch average across all mattresses we’ve tested. This qualifies as moderate sinkage, earning the Latex Hybrid 5 stars. You should find some slight cushioning around the joints, but your body will be mostly lifted.

Bounce test: To find out exactly how bouncy this latex mattress is, I climbed up a ladder until I was six feet above the bed and then dropped a 25-pound steel ball onto its surface. A yardstick on the wall allowed me to examine how high the ball rebounded, which was 16.5 inches. This is just a tad higher than the 16.3-inch average, so this test earned 5 stars.

Saatva Latex Hybrid Cooling
If you sleep hot, you understand the struggle of waking up sweaty and overheated from a mattress that doesn’t regulate temperature well. Luckily, some mattresses contain cooling materials and constructions that help transfer body heat. Since latex is a naturally cooling material and steel coils allow for additional airflow, I had high expectations for the Saatva Latex Hybrid. I tested cooling using a thermal gun test, a cover test, and a feel test to create a final score of 4 out of 5 stars.
Thermal gun test: This test allows me to see how a mattress responds to body heat and how well it regulates temperature. I started by using a thermal gun to record the initial temperature of the mattress. Then, I lay down on it for a full five minutes. When the time was up, I used the thermal gun to record the bed’s temperature again and calculate the difference. If the temperature increases by fewer than 5 degrees, we consider it to have excellent cooling. An increase of 5 to 10 degrees indicates good cooling, 10 to 15 degrees indicates decent cooling, and more than 15 degrees indicates poor cooling.

The Latex Hybrid’s temperature went from 65.8 degrees to 72.2 degrees after I lay on it for five minutes. This is a 6.4-degree temperature increase, which is classified as good cooling and earns 4 stars.
Cover test: This test is quite simple. I felt the surface of the Saatva Latex Hybrid and observed whether it had a cool-to-the-touch sensation when I first lay down. I definitely thought the cover was cooler than room temperature, which felt really nice as I settled into bed.
Feel test: As I continued to lie on the Latex Hybrid, I paid attention to the temperature of the bed beneath me and my own body temperature. I could feel the bed starting to warm up slightly, but it was never uncomfortable or stifling. The feel went from cool-to-the-touch to temperature neutral, so it didn’t get overly warm.
Based on the above tests, I think most sleepers will find the temperature of this bed comfortable and temperature neutral. While they can appreciate the initial cool sensation from the cover, extra-hot sleepers may need a bed with just a tad more cooling abilities if the eventual room temperature feel is still too hot.
Saatva Latex Hybrid Edge Support
Edge support is exactly what it sounds like — how supportive the edge of the mattress is. When the perimeter of the bed is strong, you’re able to use the entire surface of the bed and sleep right up to the edge without falling off. This is great for couples, as it allows both partners to spread out, which can make the bed feel bigger. Older adults and people with mobility issues are also able to rely on strong edges to make getting in and out of bed easier. Ideally, the edges will be just as supportive as the center of the mattress. To assess the Saatva Latex Hybrid’s edges, I performed a tape measure test, a seated test, and a full body test to create a final score of 3.6 stars.
Tape measure test: Before beginning this test, I took weighted plates and created three stacks. The weighted stacks went from 99 pounds to 154 pounds to 198 pounds, which simulates three different body types. I then placed each stack on the very edge of the bed and used a tape measure to record how much the edges compressed under the weight.
From lightest to heaviest stack, the sinkage went from 3.5 inches to 5 inches to 5.5 inches. When we combine the ratings from all three stacks, we get an average score of 3.7 stars for the tape measure test.
Seated test: Next, I sat down directly on the edge of the bed with my feet planted on the floor. I observed how much sinkage I felt and whether I felt at risk of falling off. I thought the seated edge support on this mattress was disappointing, as Saatva is typically known for its secure perimeter. However, on the Latex Hybrid, I felt myself sink down a significant amount. I don’t think the edges on this bed are strong enough for people with mobility issues to bear down on. The latex does add a bit of bounce, which makes it easier to stand up, but the layers still collapsed too much for me to feel completely stable, so I gave this test 3 stars.
Full body test: Next, I lay down near the edge on my back, side, and stomach. I experienced more support when lying down compared to sitting. I overall felt stable and didn’t feel like I was about to slide off the bed. I wouldn’t say the edges felt just as supportive as the very center of the bed, but I wouldn’t be concerned about sleeping on them. I gave this test 4 stars but would advise sleepers to look out for premature sagging.

Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress Performance for Couples
Cooling, responsiveness, edge support, and motion isolation are the most important categories for couples to pay attention to. Based on the Saatva Latex Hybrid’s performance in these categories, I think some couples will be a good match for it, but others may have concerns.
This bed is extremely easy to move around on, so sexually active couples will be able to switch between positions quickly due to the 5-star responsiveness. Two bodies also create more heat than just one, so cooling can also be a concern. The Latex Hybrid earned 4 stars during our cooling test, so most couples should find good temperature regulation. However, couples who sleep hot may need even more cooling.
Based on the 3.6-star edge support, you and your partner should be able to lie near the edge of the bed without falling off. However, if you spend most nights sleeping directly on the edge, the support may begin to falter. The 3.7-star motion isolation might also cause issues when co-sleeping, as you’re likely to wake up due to a partner’s movement, especially if you sleep lightly.
Other Performance Factors to Consider
The above tests covered a lot, but there’s more to learn about the Saatva Latex Hybrid’s performance. Below, I’ll provide further insight into how it performed on a few more important tests.
Sex
Our score for sex is based on the average of the responsiveness, cooling, and edge support tests. Typically, the best mattress for sex is responsive enough to aid the switching of positions, cool enough to prevent overheating, and has strong edges that can be relied on regardless of where you are on the bed. Based on its 5-star responsiveness, 4-star cooling, and 3.6-star edge support, the Saatva Latex Hybrid earned 4.2 stars for sex. This makes it a solid pick, but I do think stronger edges would allow couples to use more of the mattress’s surface area.
Noise
Our tester Erin Chiles gave this mattress 5 stars for noise, and found it to be a super quiet and discreet bed. When she compressed the layers and even jumped on the bed, the coils emitted no creaking sounds. She also didn’t hear any air releasing from the foam. This means sleepers will be able to move around at night without being disturbed by noisy materials.
Base Compatibility
If you’re thinking of pairing this bed with an adjustable base, you may want to reconsider. When we placed the Saatva Latex Hybrid on an adjustable base in our studio, it was too rigid to properly bend. There was a large gap where the bed and base didn’t quite meet when we placed it in the zero gravity and TV settings. We found it most compatible when the head and legs were just slightly elevated, so we gave the base compatibility 3 stars.
Durability
When you buy a new mattress, the plan is to sleep on it for many years. To ensure you get many years of use out of your bed, we evaluate its durability by looking at its materials, support, edge support, and warranty. A strong support system and solid edge support helps the mattress stand tall without risk of sagging. We also find high-quality materials to be more durable and longer-lasting than cheap materials. The mattress warranty also gives us some perspective on how long the company expects its product to hold up.
The Saatva Latex Hybrid demonstrates solid durability thanks to its use of high-quality materials like natural Talalay latex and a zoned coil support system, both known for long-term performance and resistance to sagging. However, its edge support only earned 3.6 stars, reflecting average performance, especially when sitting near the edge where we found the most sinkage. While not a dealbreaker, this softens its overall durability score slightly. That said, Saatva backs the mattress with a lifetime warranty, reinforcing confidence in its long-term resilience.

Saatva Latex Hybrid Sleeping Position and Body Weight
The position you sleep in and how much you weigh are two of the most crucial elements that will determine whether you are compatible with a mattress. For example, what feels medium-firm to a heavyweight back sleeper may feel a lot firmer to a lightweight side sleeper. To take bias out of the question, we had testers from all three weight classes try the Saatva Latex Hybrid in each sleeping position. Below, I’ll break down how this bed may feel to different types of sleepers.
Before we dive into our recommendations, though, we want to recognize that people come in all shapes and sizes, and people of every size deserve a mattress that works for their body type. We use the weight categories light, average, and heavy to more easily categorize sleepers based on how mattresses will perform for their body type, as most mattresses are designed for the group we call “average” (130 to 230 pounds).
As a general takeaway, lighter sleepers don’t require as much support as average-weight sleepers, and mattresses will tend to feel firmer to them. On the other hand, heavy sleepers tend to need more support than average-weight sleepers and tend to sink into the mattress more. As far as sleeping positions go, side sleepers tend to need a softer mattress while stomach sleepers usually need a firmer, more supportive one. Back sleepers are usually somewhere in the middle.
Is the Saatva Latex Hybrid a Good Mattress for Light Sleepers (Under 130 pounds)?
- Light Back Sleepers – These sleepers will find excellent lift at their hips to keep the spine in a neutral, straight line, while also enjoying some cushioning at the lower back.
- Light Side Sleepers – The mattress may feel slightly firmer than medium-firm to these sleepers, but they should still experience great spinal alignment and slight cushioning.
- Light Stomach Sleepers – The mattress provides enough lift at the hips to prevent lower back pain in lightweight stomach sleepers, making it a solid choice.

Is the Saatva Latex Hybrid a Good Mattress for Average-Weight Sleepers (130–230 pounds)?
- Average-Weight Back Sleepers – These sleepers are the ideal candidates for this mattress and will experience a balance between firm support and soft pressure relief.
- Average-Weight Side Sleepers – These sleepers may enjoy the Latex Hybrid, but those with shoulder pain may need a softer bed.
- Average-Weight Stomach Sleepers – These sleepers should achieve proper spinal alignment in this position while also getting some cushioning at their chest and hips..
Is the Saatva Latex Hybrid a Good Mattress for Heavy Sleepers (over 230 pounds)?
- Heavy Back Sleepers – Back sleeping is the best position for heavy sleepers on the Saatva Latex Hybrid, as they’ll find plenty of spinal support, especially at the lumbar region.
- Heavy Side Sleepers – These sleepers are not a good match for the Saatva Latex Hybrid, as they’ll experience too much pressure building at their sensitive joints.
- Heavy Stomach Sleepers – Heavy sleepers’ hips will likely sink too far into the mattress in the stomach-sleeping position, which can cause pain at the lower back.

My Final Thoughts About the Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress
Now that we’ve gone through every test we performed, let’s quickly break down some of my favorite things about the Saatva Latex Hybrid, as well as some areas of concern.
Who I Recommend the Saatva Latex Hybrid For
- Back sleepers of all body types can appreciate this bed, as this position earned 5 stars for pressure relief from all of our testers.
- Moving around on this mattress is a breeze, which is great for combination sleepers.
- The anti-microbial treatment on the mattress cover can provide relief for people with allergies.
- The true medium-firm feel is compatible with multiple body types and sleeping positions, making it a versatile bed that works for many types of sleepers.

Who I Don’t Recommend the Saatva Latex Hybrid For
- Side sleepers suffering from shoulder pain may not find the relief they need on this mattress.
- The bed didn’t excel at isolating motion, so couples may experience sleep disturbance from their partner’s movement.
Saatva Latex Hybrid Pricing and Sizing
For most sleepers, price is an important part of the buying decision. As a luxury mattress, the Saatva Latex Hybrid is pricier than most standard mattress models. However, as I mentioned in the “value” section earlier, this is an excellent bed for the money due to its performance and company policies.
Additionally, Saatva runs frequent sales, so you’re likely to get this bed at a discounted price. You can also check out our Saatva coupon page for even more deals.

Saatva Latex Hybrid vs. Competitor
If you’re on the hunt for a latex hybrid mattress, Saatva isn’t the only company offering a high-quality model. Let’s take a look at how the Saatva Latex Hybrid compares to the Nolah Natural.
Saatva Latex Hybrid vs Nolah Natural
Like the Saatva model, the Nolah Natural is a latex hybrid mattress with a medium-firm feel that falls at a 6.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale. While Saatva’s cover has wool quilted into it to create a mini pillow-top effect, Nolah’s organic cotton cover is flat and smooth. The Saatva model scored lowest on our edge support tests; however, the Nolah’s edges were super strong, earning 4.8 stars. But the Saatva prevailed in the motion isolation category, as the Nolah only earned 2 stars. Overall the Nolah earned 4.4 stars based on all our performance tests.
- Price: The mattresses are priced similarly at full retail, with the Nolah being $400 cheaper for a queen size.
- Sleeping position: Both mattresses are great options for back sleepers. The Saatva is better suited for side sleepers, and the Nolah is better for stomach sleepers.
- Cooling: The Saatva is the better choice for hot sleepers, earning 4 stars. The Nolah earned 3.5 stars in this category.
- Body weight: Both mattresses are suitable for heavy back sleepers, but heavy side and stomach sleepers may want an ultra-supportive bed to prevent spinal misalignment.

Other Models from Saatva
Saatva is known for its line of luxurious, high-quality mattresses. Let’s compare the Latex Hybrid model to two additional Saatva beds: the Saatva Classic and the Saatva Rx.
Saatva Latex Hybrid vs Saatva Classic
The Saatva Classic is the brand’s flagship mattress, available in three firmness options: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, and Firm. We tested the Luxury Firm version and thought it fell at a 7.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale, making it firmer than average. This hybrid bed contains not one, but two layers of innerspring coils, which makes it extremely supportive. It also comes with a Euro top layer that provides excellent cushioning at the body’s pressure points. Like the Latex Hybrid, the Classic model had outstanding performance in the responsiveness tests, earning 5 stars, but was unimpressive in the motion isolation category, earning 2.7 stars. When we combined all our testing scores, the Saatva Classic earned 4.5 out of 5 stars.
- Price: The Classic is approximately $400 cheaper than the Latex Hybrid.
- Sleeping position: Both mattresses feel great for average-weight sleepers in the side- and back-sleeping positions.
- Cooling: These beds performed similarly on our cooling test, and each was awarded 5 stars.
- Body weight: The Classic may be too firm for lightweight sleepers, but it’s supportive enough to keep heavy sleepers lifted.

Saatva Latex Hybrid vs Saatva Rx
If you struggle with chronic pain, you may want to consider the Saatva Rx mattress. This bed was specifically designed for sleepers with joint pain, and our chief medical product tester, Dr. Joe Tedesco, approved this bed for hip pain, back pain, and sciatic pain. Like the Latex Hybrid, this bed falls at a 6.5 out of 10 on our firmness scale, but we found slightly more cushioning and sinkage on the Rx model. The Rx performed best in the pressure relief category (4.8 stars) and motion isolation category (5 stars). It faltered on our edge support tests, which were only awarded 3.2 stars. Overall, the Saatva Rx earned 4.3 stars.
- Price: The Rx model is significantly more expensive, costing $3,399 for a queen size at full retail.

Our Review Process
At Sleepopolis, our team of certified sleep science coaches personally tests each mattress. We start by unboxing the mattress to figure out how difficult (or easy) it is to get the mattress from the box to the bed. Then, we spend time lying on the bed in different positions, taking time to assess it on our backs, stomachs, and sides. Next, we perform our Sleepopolis tests, using specialized tools to measure qualities like motion transfer, bounce, and pressure relief. Our last step is to open up the mattress and take a look at each layer. These steps allow us to give our final verdict on the mattress.
