Is the Polysleep a Good Mattress for You?
The Polysleep is an all-foam mattress with a contouring, medium-firm feel. This type of bed creates a better sleeping experience for some people than others, so take a look below for a quick overview of who might enjoy this mattress.
Who I recommend the Polysleep mattress for
- First off, I’d recommend the Polysleep to back sleepers looking for a comfortable, supportive foam mattress. It does a great job forming to your body and keeping your hips in an aligned position.
- I think the Polysleep would be a nice fit for a lot of couples that don’t want to feel each other’s movements throughout the night. It tested well in multiple categories for this. I think you’d be able to not only use the full mattress, but also move around on it in peace.
- Lastly, the Polysleep is a very reasonably priced mattress. It’d be a great option for people shopping with a certain price point in mind.
Who I don’t recommend the Polysleep mattress for
- This mattress is not the best for stomach sleepers. It’s too soft of a bed to support these types of sleepers’ hips. Stomach sleepers will want to look for firmer options, like the ones in our list of best mattresses for stomach sleepers.
- Although the top layer is ventilated, this mattress wouldn’t be a great match for hot sleepers. You’ll want to look for a cooling mattress, which often includes coils or a cooling gel-foam, if you tend to overheat at night.
- Lastly, if you’re looking for a bouncy mattress, I don’t recommend the Polysleep for you. The memory foam inside makes you feel more like you’re sinking into it rather than bouncing on top of it. I’d look for an innerspring mattress to get some bounce.
How Firm is the Polysleep Mattress?
Now that we’ve gone over some basics, let’s get into the details of the Polysleep — starting with its firmness level.
As with any feel factor, firmness is subjective, and can change a lot depending on your body weight, size, and shape. That’s why I always incorporate a few different opinions into this section. In addition to my own personal thoughts on the Polysleep’s firmness level, I’m also going to draw on the perspectives of my coworkers.
The score below is the average of all our different ratings!
We put the Polysleep as a 6.5 out of 10 on the mattress firmness scale. When compared to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness, this bed is right there as being medium-firm.
I personally gave the bed a 6.5 as I found its all-foam construction to allow me to sink into the bed, rather than feel positioned on top of it. However, the foam is responsive, so you shouldn’t struggle to change positions throughout the night. Overall, the Polysleep gave a firm, supportive feel.

Now I want to go over a few performance factors, including support in different sleeping positions, pain relief, and performance for couples. See below how the Polysleep does in these categories.
Testing the Polysleep Mattress in Different Sleeping Positions
Sleepers with different body types will need different amounts of support, so let’s go over how the Polysleep performs for different weight classes in different sleeping positions below.
Is the Polysleep a Good Mattress for Light Sleepers (Under 130 lbs)?
- Light Back Sleepers – I think these sleepers would really enjoy the Polysleep. It’s supportive and allows your hips to sink in just the right amount.
- Light Side Sleepers – Light side sleepers should feel great on the Polysleep. Since I do find this mattress to have some softness to it, I think it’d contour nicely around these sleepers’ hips and shoulders.
- Light Stomach Sleepers – The Polysleep is too soft for these sleepers. It won’t keep their hips lifted in line with their shoulders, which can lead to back pain.
Is the Polysleep a Good Mattress for Average Weight Sleepers (130 – 250 lbs)?
- Average Weight Back Sleepers – These folks should feel really comfortable on the Polysleep! Its top layer of memory foam will do an excellent job filling in the space at their lumbar regions, bringing support and pressure relief to their spines.
- Average Weight Side Sleepers – The firmness of the bed could cause some jamming at the hips and shoulders for these folks. Strict side sleepers will want to look for a more body-contouring bed. One of our best memory foam mattresses could be a better fit.
- Average Weight Stomach Sleepers – This bed is also too soft for average weight stomach sleepers. It will allow their hips to sink too far into the mattress, which can cause pain over time.
Is the Polysleep a Good Mattress for Heavy Sleepers (over 250 lbs)?
- Heavy Back Sleepers – The all-foam Polysleep likely won’t be supportive enough for any heavier sleepers, who often do better on mattresses that include innerspring support. I’d recommend these folks check out our best mattresses for heavy people instead.

Polysleep Mattress Pain Relief Performance
How well a bed relieves pressure is crucial for a lot of sleepers out there. Whenever I look at a bed, I want to see its pressure relief, or how well it could alleviate tension in areas like the shoulders, hips, and lower back.
I test pressure relief out by using a pressure map. I lay it out on the bed, hop on top, and let the device do the rest! As I roll around, the gadget tracks the force my body exerts on the bed, creating a colored “map” of any pressure points that are triggered. Areas of low pressure are indicated in blue to green, and areas of high pressure are marked in yellow to red.
Back Pain – The pressure map results show the Polysleep is great for back sleepers with back pain. Back sleepers should feel a nice level of pressure relief and support on this mattress. Stomach sleepers should opt for a firmer option since their hips could sink in too far on the Polysleep, contributing to back pain. Some side sleepers with back pain would be comfortable on this mattress, but I’d recommend they look at the best mattresses for side sleepers to check out more options.
Shoulder Pain – Based on these results, I’d recommend side sleepers with shoulder pain look for a softer mattress. The map shows pressure building up around the shoulder and elbow areas when side sleeping, so it wouldn’t be the best fit for those with sensitive shoulder joints. Back sleepers with shoulder pain should feel little to no pressure on the Polysleep, so it’d be a nice fit for them. Stomach sleepers with shoulder pain should look for a firmer mattress.
Hip Pain – Back sleepers with hip pain should feel comfortable on the Polysleep. The pressure map showed low pressure in that area. Although some side sleepers would not be affected in the hip area on the Polysleep, they may feel that pressure on their shoulders. Stomach sleepers with hip pain won’t like this mattress as it will cause their hips to sink in too far. I’d recommend one of our best mattresses for hip pain instead.
Polysleep Mattress Performance for Couples
The best mattress for couples typically has a combination of motion isolation, responsiveness, cooling features, and strong edge support. I’ll explain more below about what those terms mean and how the Polysleep performs in each category.
Motion Transfer
Motion transfer is how movement carries from one side of the bed to the other. This is especially important if you share the bed with a partner or a pet and don’t want to be awakened by their movements throughout the night.
To illustrate motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
These are great results for motion transfer. What this shows me is most people could sleep on the Polysleep with their partner or pet and not be too disrupted by their movements.
Sex
The best mattress for sex is usually responsive and easy to move around on. While the Polysleep isn’t very bouncy, it is responsive and easy to change positions on. This means it should be good for sex.
Cooling
People sharing a bed are going to overheat faster than someone sleeping alone, so couples often prefer cooling mattresses. Due to its all-foam build, I don’t think the Polysleep would be the best option for couples that are hot sleepers.
Edge Support
Edge support is a measure of how supported you feel on the sides of your bed. Strong edges make a bed feel larger, which is great for couples. It’s also important for people who like to sleep toward the edge of the bed.
In my opinion, the Polysleep has strong edge support for an all-foam mattress. I didn’t feel like I was going to fall off the side of this bed when I was laying or sitting on it. I credit this to the proprietary support frame inside the mattress that I’m going to discuss more below.
What is the Polysleep Mattress Made Of?
The Polysleep consists of several different foams that all perform different jobs. One highlight is it’s made with antimicrobial foam to fight against bacteria growth. Its foams are also latex free and certified by the CertiPUR-US®, meaning they’re free of dangerous chemicals. Here’s the breakdown of the mattress’ layers:
Cover – One nice perk of the Polysleep is its liquid repellant cover. This machine washable cover is meant to help with any spills or accidents. I put it to the test by spilling water on the bed and I was very impressed. The vast majority of the liquid didn’t sink into the mattress. The cover is also soft to the touch and ventilated to promote airflow.
Comfort Layer – The top layer is a hybrid foam that’s meant to adapt to your body and keep you from sinking in too far. It’s very responsive, cushioning and doesn’t re-form as slowly as normal memory foam.
Support Layer – Below the top layer is a support frame that surrounds the remaining parts of the mattress. This is meant to keep the bed from flattening. It’s also good for keeping the feeling consistent throughout the bed, so you can sleep in the center or near the edge and still be comfortable.
Transition Layer – The transition layer foam bridges the top hybrid foam to the high-density foam base.
Base Layer – The foam base layer is high-density foam and acts like a box spring for this mattress. It creates a durable and supportive feel for the Polysleep.
Polysleep Mattress Unboxing and Off-Gassing
Typical to most bed-in-a-box mattresses, the Polysleep will have an off-gassing and decompression period after you unwrap it. I’d recommend giving this bed about 24 hours to fully decompress after you unbox it.

My Final Thoughts about the Polysleep Mattress
Well friends, we made it through all the tests and trials for this mattress. After going over the Polysleep’s construction, firmness, feel, and performance, I want to summarize my findings below. Hopefully, this can help you decide whether the Polysleep is the right new mattress for you!
My favorite things about the Polysleep mattress
I really appreciate the squishy yet supportive feel of the Polysleep mattress. Its responsive foam allows it to be a great fit for back sleepers along with a lot of side sleepers and couples out there. I also was really impressed by the Polysleep’s liquid-repellant cover and think that would be a great perk for kids.
My Polysleep mattress complaints
I personally didn’t feel great on the Polysleep on my side due to some pressure growing around my shoulder, so I think some side sleepers with joint pain might want a softer mattress. I also tend to be a hot sleeper and don’t think the Polysleep would do enough cooling for me, despite its ventilated cover. Instead, I’d look for a hybrid mattress or one with innerspring support if you also sleep hot.
