What is the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus Made Of?
The Saatva Adjustable Base Plus has a metal frame with a polyester cover, and a small layer of foam around the platform. It has adjustable legs, which can be adjusted by half-inch increments, allowing you to choose a bed height between 13 and 18 inches tall. Or, you can remove the legs entirely and combine the adjustable base with a platform base or other compatible bed frame.
How Do I Assemble the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus?
One of the best bonuses about shopping with Saatva is you don’t have to do any assembly — Saatva takes care of it all with their in-home delivery and set-up service. Essentially, a delivery team will bring the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus to your home and set it up in your room of choice, at no extra cost.
How Does the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus Work?
The Saatva Adjustable Base Plus is controlled with a wireless remote. The remote has a built-in flashlight, making it easy to use in the dark. I found the remote fairly simple to use — it does have quite a few buttons, but they are well-labeled. The remote allows you to control raising and lowering the head and foot of the bed, the under-bed lighting, and massage features.
Saatva says the base has a “whisper quiet motor.” In testing, the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus did make some noise as it was adjusting, but nothing significantly louder than other bases I’ve tested, so I wouldn’t say this is much of a concern. Additionally, the mattress stayed in place as I was adjusting the base.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus’s features.
Head and Foot Elevation
The Saatva Adjustable Base Plus allows you to raise and lower both the head and foot of the bed. Each end of the bed has its own button with an up and down arrow, which lets you easily control the head and foot independently.
Zero Gravity Preset
The zero-gravity preset has its own button on the remote, marked “ZG.” This button elevates the head and foot slightly to create a “floating” sensation, as if you are in zero gravity.
Anti-Snore Preset
The anti-snore preset also has its own button, marked “Snore.” This preset elevates the head of the bed to about 7 degrees, which is meant to help keep airways open and prevent snoring.
Memory Preset
The memory preset, controlled with a button marked “M,” allows you to make your own preset position, so you can easily return to your favorite setting with one button.
Flat
The “Flat” button returns the head and foot to a flat position with a single button press.
Safety Lock
The safety lock button is marked with a padlock symbol and pressing the button locks the base into position, preventing any accidental button presses from moving the base into a different position.
Zero-Clearance Design
The Saatva Adjustable Base Plus has a zero-clearance, or wall-hugging, design. This means that as you adjust the elevation of the head, the base keeps the distance between the bed and the wall the same. This prevents the base from hitting the wall or a headboard, as well as keeping you in line with your bedside table.
Under-bed Lighting
The Saatva Adjustable Base Plus has lights underneath the base, which you can turn on and off by pressing the control button (it has an icon representing a light beam underneath a platform). This under-bed lighting serves a similar function to a nightlight, making it easy to see where you are walking when getting in and out of bed at night. It is subtle enough though not to disrupt a bed partner or make your eyes fully adjust to bright light in the middle of the night.
Massage
The Saatva Adjustable Base Plus offers massage features. You can choose between an upper body massage, lower body/leg massage, or a full-body wave massage. With all three options, you can choose between three different intensities of vibration. To control the massage, you can press the plus or minus buttons marked “H” or “F” to set the vibration intensity for head and foot massage. Or you can press the “Wave” button for the full-body massage.
Upper-Flex Option
In king and queen sizes, you can opt for an Upper-Flex base, which allows the head of each side of the bed to be controlled independently. This means couples could adjust each side to their own preferences, without disturbing the other sleeper. (Note: the split king size allows both the head and foot of each side to be controlled independently.)
Is the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus Good for You?
Okay, we’ve covered a lot of information about the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus, so let’s go over my recommendations for who should consider buying this base and who should consider another one.
Who Should Buy the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus
- If you’re looking for an adjustable base with premium features, the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus is a great option. It offers many upgrades from a basic adjustable bed, like the under-bed lighting, massage functions, and wall-hugging design.
- Couples who want the option to customize each side of the bed should appreciate the Upper-Flex queen and king size versions of the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus. These make each side of the bed customizable, but are meant to be used with the Saatva Solaire Upper-Flex mattress.
- If you want an adjustable base that you can combine with another bed frame, the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus is a great option. It is designed to be compatible with many of Saatva’s bed frames and platform beds.
Who Shouldn’t Buy the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus
- If you prefer a simple adjustable bed frame, the Saatva Adjustable Plus may simply have too many bells and whistles for you. In that case, I’d recommend checking out the Saatva Adjustable Base — it’s a very simple adjustable bed.
- Budget shoppers may find the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus too pricey. It is definitely a more luxurious option, and thus is more expensive than many other adjustable beds.
- If you want a sleep trial or the option to return, the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus may not be a great choice for you, as it is not eligible for returns or exchanges.

FAQs
Do I have to buy a specific mattress to use with the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus?
No, you don’t have to buy a specific mattress to use with this adjustable base. Saatva specifically states the base is compatible with the following Saatva mattresses: the Saatva Classic innerspring (11.5-inch height model only), Loom & Leaf, Saatva Latex Hybrid, Zenhaven Latex, Saatva Solaire Adjustable, Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid, and Saatva Rx. Given how different these beds all are, many beds from other brands should also be compatible, but be sure to check with your bed’s manufacturer.
Can I return the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus?
No, you cannot return the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus.
How tall is the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus?
You can adjust the height of the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus between 13 and 18 inches.
Is the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus the same as the Saatva Lineal Adjustable bed?
It isn’t exactly the same (the designs of the base and remote are slightly different), but these are essentially the same products. Saatva no longer offers the Lineal Adjustable Base, but it had essentially all the same features as the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus.
Can adjustable beds help with back pain?
Yes, many people like using adjustable beds to help alleviate back pain, as well as other types of pain. They allow you to reposition your body without physically moving, so many people find them beneficial for pain relief. If you are considering an adjustable base for this purpose, be sure to consult your doctor.
