I personally tested the Saatva Adjustable Base and in this review, I’ll cover what it is made of, how it works, and who I do and don’t recommend it for. Short on time? Skip ahead for a review summary.

What is the Saatva Adjustable Base Made Of?

Let’s first go over what this adjustable base is made of.

saatva adjustable base

The adjustable base is made with a metal frame and a simple wooden platform, which is covered with black fabric. The motor and cords are conveniently hidden under the wooden platform on the underside of the base.

The Saatva Adjustable Base also has adjustable legs. These are adjustable by half-inch increments, so you can make it shorter or taller based on your preference. The lowest height option is 13 inches and the highest is 18 inches. Additionally, you can take the legs off entirely to use the adjustable base with a platform bed.

The Saatva Adjustable Base is available in five sizes: twin XL, queen, king, split king, and California king.

How Do I Assemble the Saatva Adjustable Base?

Often when you are shopping for an adjustable base, you’ll have to factor in how difficult the assembly is. However, one of the great benefits of shopping with Saatva is you don’t have to worry about that. Saatva offers free in-room delivery and set-up for this adjustable base. That means a delivery team will not only bring the adjustable base into your bedroom, but they’ll set it up for you. From your point of view, assembly couldn’t be easier!

How Does the Saatva Adjustable Base Work?

Now that you are a little more familiar with the Saatva Adjustable Base, let’s go over how it works.

saatva adjustable base remote

This base is controlled entirely from a wireless remote. The remote has a built-in flashlight, which could be handy for making adjustments at night or even if you need to get out of bed for a midnight snack. The remote is pretty simple, with just a few buttons, so I found it very easy to use. It didn’t take much effort to figure out what each button did and quickly control adjusting the bed.

While there is some noticeable noise as the base is adjusting, I don’t think it’s a major drawback, as it only lasts while you are adjusting and thus, won’t disrupt your sleep. I also thought the base did a good job of keeping the mattress in place as I adjusted.

What Are the Saatva Adjustable Base’s Features?

So what can this adjustable base do? In this case, really only a few things.

Head Up/Down, Foot Up/Down

You can raise and lower both the head and foot of the bed with this adjustable base. The head and foot each have their own button on the remote with up and down arrows, so it’s easy to control.

Flat

There is also a “flat” button, which you can press to instantly return both the head and foot to a flat position.

That’s about it! The Saatva Adjustable Base is among the more simple adjustable bases, so it doesn’t include many additional features like presets, massage features, or under bed lighting. If you are interested, Saatva does offer the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus, which has more of these premium features.

Is the Saatva Adjustable Base Good for You?

Let’s go over now who I think should consider the Saatva Adjustable Base and who may want to consider buying a different adjustable bed.

Who Should Buy the Saatva Adjustable Base

  • Anyone looking for a slim profile or who wants to combine their adjustable base with a platform base will love the zero-clearance, ultra-slim design of the Saatva Adjustable Base.
  • Shoppers looking for a simple adjustable base with lift and lower features should appreciate this stripped-back, easy-to-use adjustable bed.
  • Those who don’t want to deal with setup should appreciate Saatva’s free white glove delivery.

Who Shouldn’t Buy the Saatva Adjustable Base

  • Shoppers looking for special features like massage functions, presets (such as an anti-snore, zero gravity, or TV position), or memory features (to save favorite positions), may want to consider another base. The Saatva Adjustable Base is fairly straightforward.
  • Shoppers looking for a bolder design may not love the simplistic, minimal look of the Saatva Adjustable Base. However, keep in mind that you can combine it with a platform bed if you want a headboard, footboard, or visible frame. Still, that’s an additional purchase you’ll have to make.
  • Those who aren’t 100 percent sure should consider an adjustable bed frame with a trial period, as Saatva does not allow returns nor do they offer a trial period with this base.
