DreamCloud Mattress Construction & Feel Differences
Now that the main similarities and differences between the DreamCloud beds are out of the way, let’s focus on what each mattress feels like. To find out how these beds feel, we’re going to examine each mattress for a variety of factors, including firmness level, pressure relief, sinkage, motion transfer, and bounce. However, you should keep in mind that how I judge a bed’s feel could very well differ from how you’d judge it, so take my notes for what they are.
What’s the Firmness Difference?
When it comes to mattresses, firmness isn’t a one-size-fits-all scenario. Your size, weight, shape, and other factors all determine your ideal level of firmness, meaning your preferences will likely differ from mine. When testing a mattress for firmness, we try to capture the variance different people might feel. I test every bed with colleagues of various body shapes, types, and sizes, then average those responses to determine the final firmness score.
My colleagues and I decided to give the DreamCloud and DreamCloud Premier a 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale. When compared to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness, it’s clear these mattresses are on the firmer side of things.
The DreamCloud Premier Rest is the softest and most luxurious out of the bunch thanks to its plush pillow top. This bed snagged a 6.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale, putting it right at the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness.
What Does Each Mattress Feel Like?
During testing, I thought the DreamCloud was a firm mattress that offered just the right balance of support and comfort. At 14 inches tall, it combines a quilted cashmere cover with gel-infused memory foam and pocketed coils. The gentle pressure relief from the memory foam felt great on my back, while the coil system gave a nice bounce that kept me feeling “on top” of the mattress. I think the original DreamCloud is a great choice for back sleepers like myself, though side sleepers may find it a bit too firm for their hips and shoulders.
The DreamCloud Premier, with its 14-inch profile and added Euro top, provided a more plush feel compared to the original. The two-inch memory foam Euro top gives a softer surface, which improved pressure relief while still offering solid support from the coils underneath. I found it to be great for combination sleepers, as the added comfort layer made it easier to switch positions, while still offering enough support for back sleeping. It also helped with heat retention, which is a bonus for hot sleepers.
Finally, I thought the DreamCloud Premier Rest was the softest of the three, and at 16 inches tall, it felt significantly more plush during my tests. The pillow top and additional foam layers provided exceptional pressure relief, especially for side sleeping. I found it particularly comfortable for my hips and shoulders, which tend to need more cushioning. The Premier Rest felt the most luxurious overall, but it’s also the most expensive of the three, meaning it might not be the best option for budget shoppers.
How Does The Construction Differ?

DreamCloud vs DreamCloud Premier vs DreamCloud Premier Rest: Comparing Mattress Performance
Temperature
Many factors contribute to a mattress’s cooling ability. First and foremost, I consider its construction. Since all mattresses are hybrid models, there’s plenty of room for air to flow through them and keep them cool.
I found that the original DreamCloud mattress is excellent at temperature regulation overall. The combination of its gel-infused memory foam and pocketed coil system made it one of the cooler mattresses I’ve tested. The gel foam helps dissipate heat, while the coils provide plenty of airflow between them, allowing heat to escape. In our thermal gun test, the mattress only increased 7 degrees after 10 minutes, which is on par with our best cooling mattresses. I think this mattress should be a home run for hot sleepers.
The DreamCloud Premier performed decently when it came to cooling as well, but it wasn’t quite as effective as the original DreamCloud. While the hybrid construction with its pocketed coils helps with breathability, the foam layers don’t feature any specialized cooling technologies. As a result, while it did a decent job at keeping heat at bay, I wouldn’t consider it to be the coolest option available. For those who run hot, I would recommend a mattress with more dedicated cooling features.
Finally, the DreamCloud Premier Rest is similar to the Premier in terms of cooling. The addition of a pillow top does make the surface feel more comfortable, but it doesn’t drastically impact the cooling performance. Like the other models, the gel-infused foam helps with heat regulation, but it’s not as specialized as some other cooling mattresses out there. Overall, it sleeps fairly cool, and if you want an extra boost in cooling, pairing it with cooling sheets could help.
Motion Isolation
If you have a restless partner, you’ll want something with better motion isolation so you don’t feel their movements on your side of the bed. If that’s not an issue, or you’re a combination sleeper who switches between different positions throughout the night, a more bouncy and responsive mattress is a plus.
When testing for responsiveness, I thought the DreamCloud was very bouncy and springy, with an on-top-of-the-bed feel. Because of its pocketed coil system, motion transfers easily across the mattress, so if you share the bed with a partner, you might feel their movements more than you would on a mattress with better motion isolation. This makes the DreamCloud a better choice for those who prioritize responsiveness and ease of movement, but less ideal for folks who are sensitive to their partner’s movements.
On the other hand, both the DreamCloud Premier and Premier Rest did an excellent job at isolating motion. The memory foam layers in these beds absorbed movement well, so when my colleague and I moved around or got in and out of bed, I barely felt it. Whether you go with the Premier or the Premier Rest, both options are great for couples who want to avoid being disturbed by a restless partner or pet.
Edge Support
When testing the edge support on the original DreamCloud bed, I found that it offered strong edge support, thanks to its pocketed coil system. When I sat or slept near the edge, the mattress held up well without significant sinking or discomfort. This makes the DreamCloud a great option for anyone who tends to sleep or sit near the edge of the bed and wants to make full use of the mattress’s surface area.
I thought that the Premier also had pretty solid edge support. I didn’t experience much sinkage when sitting or lying near the edge, so I felt comfortable using the full surface of the mattress. This makes it a good choice for sleepers who like to sprawl out or need reliable edge support for getting in and out of bed.
However, the DreamCloud Premier Rest, while featuring firmer steel coils along the edges, didn’t offer as strong edge support as I had hoped for. I noticed the foams compressing quite a bit when sitting or sleeping near the edge, which meant I experienced more sinkage compared to the other two models. For that reason, I would say that the Premier Rest’s edge support is only average, which could be a concern for those who need sturdy edges for sitting or sleeping along the perimeter.
Pressure Relief
I think the DreamCloud provides solid pressure relief for back sleepers. Its top foam layers do a great job filling in the lumbar region, offering soothing relief for lower back tension. While there’s some relief for shoulder pain, side sleepers with hip pain might find the mattress a bit too firm, as indicated by the yellow areas on my pressure map test results below. For deeper contouring, side sleepers with hip pain may want to consider a softer, memory foam option instead.
Similarly, the DreamCloud Premier and Premier Rest both perform well in pressure relief for back sleepers. The Premier offers great lumbar support and keeps the spine aligned, but the pressure map showed some red around my shoulders, indicating higher pressure for side sleepers. The Premier Rest, on the other hand, excels for side sleepers, offering low pressure at the shoulders and hips, making it a better choice for those with shoulder or hip pain.
Pain Relief
The results of our pressure relief test suggest how well each mattress can help reduce pain in specific areas. Overall I think the original DreamCloud is great for average-weight back sleepers, providing good support and pressure relief for the lower back, but side sleepers with hip pain might find it too firm.
For those who prefer a softer option, I would recommend the DreamCloud Premier. The Premier offers more comfort for back sleepers and some relief for side sleepers, though side sleepers with shoulder pain might still feel pressure.
The DreamCloud Premier Rest is the best option for those with hip or shoulder pain, thanks to its extra plush layers that offer more cushioning and pressure relief for side sleepers.
Durability
I would say that the DreamCloud mattress is built for long-term durability, thanks to its hybrid construction with individually-wrapped coils and strong edge support. This combination makes it less prone to sagging over time compared to other mattresses.
The DreamCloud Premier and DreamCloud Premier Rest also benefit from these features, with the dense comfort layers providing durability without compromising support. The Premier Rest, while softer, still holds up well thanks to its reinforced edge coils.

DreamCloud Customer Service Rating
- Good: I gave DreamCloud this rating because when I asked a question in their chat function, they sent a link instead of pairing me with a rep to chat with. Although my question was answered, I would have preferred it if they answered my question directly. I also considered the bed’s warranty and trial period in my rating. DreamCloud’s 365-night trial and lifetime warranty (as high as you’ll find in the sleep industry) help them out quite a bit here.

Our Review Process
Our Sleepopolis reviewers personally test each mattress. We start by unboxing the mattress to figure out how difficult (or easy) it is to get the mattress from the box to the bed. Then, we spend time laying on the bed in different positions, taking time to assess it on our backs, stomachs, and sides. Next, we perform our Sleepopolis tests, using specialized tools to measure qualities like motion transfer, bounce, and pressure relief. Our last step is to open up the mattress and take a look at each layer. These steps allow us to give our final verdict on the mattress.
