Are you on the hunt for a budget-friendly mattress that doesn’t skip out on comfort? Well, then perhaps you should check out the Siena Memory Foam mattress! Siena says this bed offers “a great sleep at a dream price.” The Siena is made of all-foam layers and offers sleepers an extra touch of firmness.
But is this the right budget mattress for you? And is it as dreamy as Siena says? I’m going to put it through a variety of tests to help answer that — like checking its firmness, pressure relief, motion isolation, and more. I’ll let you know who I think the Siena would work best for, along with who may want to look at other top mattress options.
Keep reading for my full Siena mattress review. If you’re in a hurry, you can jump down my review summary.

Is the Siena a Good Mattress for You?
To start off, we put each of our mattresses through something called a “Rest Test,” where we lie down on the bed for an uninterrupted 15-minute power nap. This gives us a big-picture assessment of how it performs before we get into some of our more specific tests. Here’s how my colleague Amelia felt napping on the Siena Mattress:
“Overall, I felt the Siena offered a fairly firm and supportive feel. I definitely felt ‘on top’ of the bed while lying on the Siena, but I did note the longer I laid on the bed I did sink in for some more contouring. Switching around between positions, I felt most comfortable on my back and stomach. I was particularly impressed with how comfortable I felt on my stomach, as I often find it difficult to get cozy for stomach sleeping. On my side, I felt okay, but I did feel a small amount of pressure buildup on my shoulder. All in all, I generally prefer a softer bed for myself, but I think this is a good option for those who like that firmer feel.”
Along with the Rest Test, I want to offer some quick recommendations for the Siena before we fully dive into this review since different factors, such as your body type and sleeping position, will determine whether or not a mattress will work for you.
Who I recommend the Siena mattress for
- As mentioned up top, this is a great option for budget shoppers. At full retail price in a queen size, it costs less than a thousand dollars for a Siena mattress.
- I think stomach sleepers would be happy on this bed. It should keep their hips lifted up and in line with their shoulders, promoting a healthy spinal alignment.
- Back sleepers after a firmer sleep experience should also like this mattress. Its firm feel will help keep the body supported while also providing a slight bit of cushioning around the lumbar region.
Who I don’t recommend the Siena mattress for
- Anyone after a luxury bed with higher quality materials and extra support may not be impressed with this no-frills bed. Check out our best luxury mattress roundup for better options.
- Side sleepers will likely find this bed is too firm for their sleeping position and will want a softer bed for better contouring and sinkage around their hips and shoulders. Check out our top picks for side sleepers instead.
- Heavier sleepers weighing more than 250 pounds will likely not get adequate support from the Siena. We recommend taking a look at our best mattresses for heavy people roundup in order to find beds better suited for heavier folks.
How Firm is the Siena mattress?
A mattress’s firmness level can help determine how well it’s going to work for you and your sleep preferences. Since firmness level can be subjective, I like to poll my coworkers and include their opinions in order to come up with my final firmness rating for a bed.
I ultimately rated the Siena as a 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale, with 1 being the softest and 10 being the firmest. We rate 6.5 as the standard for medium-firm, so this means the Siena is a little firmer than average. There’s very little sinkage on this bed, so it keeps your body lifted up on top of its layers.

Siena Mattress Performance
Now let’s go over a few performance factors, including support in different sleeping positions, pain relief, and performance for couples. See below how the Siena performs in these categories.
Testing the Siena Mattress in Different Sleeping Positions
Take a look at how the Siena does for different weight classes in different sleeping positions below.
Is the Siena a Good Mattress for Light Sleepers (Under 130 lb)?
- Light Back Sleepers – This bed will feel extra firm to these sleepers. Its thick cover will provide them a little cushioning, so they could like this bed as long as they prefer a firmer feel.
- Light Side Sleepers – The Siena is going to be too firm for these sleepers and could cause them pain down the road. I’d recommend they check out a soft mattress instead.
- Light Stomach Sleepers – These sleepers should really like this bed since it’ll keep them propped up and supported.
Is the Siena a Good Mattress for Average Weight Sleepers (130 – 250 lb)?
- Average Weight Back Sleepers – I think these sleepers could really like this bed and benefit from its firm support.
- Average Weight Side Sleepers – The Siena is too firm for these sleepers. I’d check out our roundup of best mattresses for side sleepers for better options that will contour the shoulders and hips.
- Average Weight Stomach Sleepers – I think the Siena is a great match for these sleepers. Their hips should be elevated and in line with their spine, which will help ensure healthy sleep posture and prevent pain.
Is the Siena a Good Mattress for Heavy Sleepers (over 250 lb)?
- Heavy Back, Side, and Stomach Sleepers – I don’t think the Siena is going to provide heavier sleepers with the support they need. Check out our roundup of the best mattresses for heavy people to see some great supportive options specifically designed for heavier body weights.
Siena Pain Relief Performance
How well a bed relieves pressure can be crucial for anyone who suffers from pain. A mattress with good pressure relief will alleviate tension at pressure points found at the shoulders, hips, and lower back. Depending on your preferred sleeping position, you’ll want pressure relief for different parts of your body.
I used a pressure map to test the Siena’s pressure-relieving abilities. This device works by rolling it out on top of the mattress, then lying on it in different sleep positions. The device tracks the force I’m exerting on the bed as I move around and produces a colored “map” of results. Blue and green indicate areas of low pressure, while orange and red indicate areas of high pressure.
Back Pain – These are great results for back sleepers with back pain. It’s primarily blue throughout and shows very minimal pressure while back sleeping. I also think the Siena’s a great choice for stomach sleepers with back pain. However, I’d steer side sleepers with back pain to a softer option to ensure maximum pressure relief and spinal alignment.
Shoulder Pain – These results are a good sign for both back and stomach sleepers with shoulder pain. They’re showing no pressure building around the shoulder area. However, there’s noticeable pressure forming around the shoulder while side sleeping. I do think side sleepers and some back sleepers with shoulder pain may want to check out a softer bed to get more cushioning that cradles their joints.
Hip Pain – I think this is a great pick for stomach sleepers with hip pain. Pressure map results show very low pressure around the hips while back sleeping too. However, I’d suggest back and side sleepers with hip pain go for a bed with a plusher feel to get more relief.
Siena Mattress Performance for Couples
If you sleep with a partner, you’re going to want to keep a few extra factors in mind when looking for a new mattress than those who sleep solo, like motion transfer, sex, edge, support, and cooling.
Motion Transfer
Motion transfer refers to how movement carries from one side of the bed to the other, or if the bed’s able to quickly absorb it and stop it from traveling. A mattress with strong motion isolation is ideal for couples, since their movements throughout the night shouldn’t bother each other.
To illustrate motion transfer, I dropped a 10-pound steel ball on the Siena from heights of four inches, eight inches, and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
These are pretty good motion transfer results. The spikes show me you may feel the bigger movements from a partner, like them getting in and out of bed. I don’t think you’ll notice the smaller tosses and turns throughout the night, though.
Sex
The best mattress for sex tends to be responsive (easy to move around on) and bouncy. I found the all-foam Siena to be really easy to move around on, but it doesn’t have much bounce to it. I think it’d be a good mattress for sex since you can move around with ease.
Cooling
Two bodies will overheat faster than one, so it can be good for couples to find a mattress with cooling materials. Like most all-foam beds, I don’t find the Siena to be particularly cooling. I’d recommend hot sleepers check out our list of the best cooling mattresses of the year for better picks.
Edge Support
Edge support refers to how well the sides of a bed bear weight. Strong edge support means you’ll feel just as supported on the edge of the bed as you do in the middle. This can be beneficial for couples who want to use the full surface of the mattress and is also a good sign of a mattress’s durability.
I tested the Siena’s edge support by sitting, lying, and moving around on the side of the bed. I felt it sinking a little bit below me while sitting on the edge, but it did a really nice job while lying and rolling around on the side — I was actually quite surprised by how well it did here! Overall, I think the Siena has good edge support for being an all-foam mattress.
What is the Siena Mattress Made Of?
The Siena’s a 10-inch mattress with three main foam layers. Let’s go over each one below.
Cover – The Siena has a soft, thick cover as its top layer. It offers a touch of cushioning for sleepers on top of the otherwise firmer mattress.
Comfort Layer – The comfort layer is memory foam that offers your body a little sinkage and pressure relief.
Transition Layer – Next up are two inches of denser poly foam to offer support. The foam has ripples in it in order to help promote airflow.
Support Layer – The support layer is five and a half inches of denser poly foam. This helps stabilize the mattress and keep everything in place.
Siena Mattress Unboxing and Off-Gassing
The Siena is a bed-in-a-box mattress, which means it will arrive at your door compressed in a box. You’ll need to unbox it at home, and we recommend having another person help you.
Like most bed-in-a-box mattresses, you’ll need to wait at least 24 hours for this bed to fully decompress. I will note this mattress took longer than others to fully take its shape, so you’ll want to be patient with it. Also, the Siena will need to off-gas for a few hours, but after that, any smell should go away.

My Final Thoughts About the Siena Mattress
Alright, we’ve made it to the end of this Siena mattress review! Before we (sadly) go our separate ways, let’s go over my favorite components of the Siena, along with some downsides.
My favorite things about the Siena mattress
The Siena has a simple, minimalistic design that gets the job done for stomach sleepers and a lot of back sleepers. I think it’s a great option for those after a firm mattress. It will keep sleepers propped up and slightly cushioned, which is especially a major win for stomach sleepers. I also think it’s fairly easy to move around on for an all-foam bed and has some solid edge support. The Siena also boasts a budget-friendly price tag, which is great for any shopper — but also makes it a nice option for a guest room or college dorm.
My complaints about the Siena mattress
Although it’s offered at a very competitive price point, that also means it lacks a lot of high-quality or organic mattress materials you may be looking for. If you’re also after deep sinkage in your mattress, I’d check out some of our other favorite memory foam mattress options instead. Lastly, I think the Siena is too firm for side sleepers and not supportive enough for heavier sleepers weighing over 250 pounds.

Siena vs Nectar
- The Nectar mattress is also made of all-foam layers, but it is softer than the Siena and features a medium-soft feel.
- We think the Nectar has stronger cooling components than the Siena.
- The Nectar is also a budget-friendly option.

We recommend this mattress for the following sleeper types: Financing options are available for this mattress. I dreaded paying for a new mattress but my old one was 15 years old…buying a Nectar was the best choice I could have made! It is so comfortable and didn’t cost an arm and a leg. I would absolutely recommend this mattress to anyone!
The original Nectar mattress is a pressure-relieving, yet supportive, bed. It’s made with a thick layer of therapeutic memory foam, which offers sleepers plenty of support and decent body contouring.
