Even though the pair officially began seeing one another sometime last summer, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have quickly become one of the most beloved celebrity couples. And even though they are thousands of miles apart while Taylor takes the Eras Tour through Europe and Travis is gearing up for the 2024-2025 NFL Season back in the States, the pair are apparently finding ways to connect despite the distance.

According to recent reports from Life & Style, the pair has taken to virtual video dates to stay connected while on the road. Given the substantial time difference between the United States where Travis is located, and Europe where Taylor is touring, this means that the pair would be in for some pretty late nights chatting, and even falling asleep together while talking. It’s pretty common for people in long-distance relationships to use virtual dates as a way to connect while apart. And, while they can be emotionally tough, for some couples long distance relationships have some pretty big sleep benefits. For example, you don’t have to worry about calibrating your sleep to match your partner’s if you have opposing sleep styles and preferences or losing sleep if you cannot sleep in the same bed as your partner.

We’ve gone ahead and rounded up everything you need to know about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s super cute virtual dates: what the pair are claimed to get up to, and how you can incorporate this practice into your schedule without harming your sleep.

What Do Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Do on Their Virtual Dates?

According to Life & Style’s interview with an unnamed insider source close to the couple, the pair uses the virtual time they have together to catch up on their busy days and eat dinner together like they’re on a non-virtual date. The unnamed insider goes on to say that Taylor and Travis will also watch movies and fall asleep together. (1)

While neither Taylor or Travis has officially confirmed that this is how they stay connected while separated, it’s not a huge stretch to believe that the couple does use technology to stay connected while apart. And, as someone who dated their partner long distance for a good bit of time, late night phone calls and falling asleep over the phone definitely made me feel more connected to my partner.

How Can I Connect With My Long-Distance Partner at Bedtime?

If you’re in a long distance relationship, it’s hard to avoid using technology to connect, even though using technology before bed or while you’re trying to sleep can interfere with getting quality sleep.

Now, when it comes to practicing good sleep hygiene, Sleepopolis recommends avoiding screens before you go to bed. Additionally, Sleepopolis’s director of sleep health Dr. Shelby Harris says that, “The final 30 minutes before bedtime should be used as a time to wind down and relax, ideally without screens.”

However, if you just have to connect with your significant other right before bed, there are some things that you can do to reduce the strain that screens put on your eyes. Dr. Harris recommends “Lowering your brightness and using night mode on your phone can help limit the amount of exposure you get before bed,” to help reduce the strain that screens put on your eyes.

So, if you and your partner want to emulate Taylor and Travis, making sure to reduce the brightness of your phone or computer is a good step to take. Additionally, you could do some calming wind-down activities like reading, journaling, or drawing while still on the phone with your partner. This way you are still preparing your body and mind for bed while fitting a bit of connection in with your significant other.
