Polysleep’s two top mattresses by price include the Polysleep (#2) and the Zephyr (#1). They are both all-foam beds with a different version of the company’s signature purple-and-white theme. The company takes great pains to ensure comfort for different types of sleepers with their construction, especially edge support. However, there are differences between the two—major and subtle. I’m going to look under the hood of both of these mattresses to see what really makes them tick in my Polysleep mattress review.
A detailed comparison is usually a great decision-making tool if you are having trouble figuring out your next mattress investment. By the end of this write-up, you should have a much clearer picture of the mattress that is right for you.
Without further ado, let’s get to the Polysleep vs. Zephyr comparison!

What’s Similar?
Because they come from the same company, the Polysleep and Zephyr do share certain similarities. I will talk about the most important likenesses here to make sure you are in the right general ballpark with your choices.
- All foam – Both beds are made from all foam and use similar materials in their support layers, including polyester, hybrid foams, and high density poly foams.
- Edge support – The Polysleep and the Zephyr both have a special layer of edge support that allow sleepers to use more of the bed.
- Mobility – Both mattresses provide good mobility, which means it should be easy for most sleepers to switch positions.
What’s Different?
The differences in the Polysleep and the Zephyr are where we really start to see The bird’s eye view is here, but we have more details in our full Polysleep mattress review!
Polysleep
Cover – The Polysleep cover is a relatively standard polyester. The material is liquid repellant, which might be a big plus for a children’s bed.
Comfort – Moving below the cover, a layer of soft, aerated ventilated hybrid foam (a type of poly foam) lets the sleeper sink into the mattress. Its quick response to pressure makes moving around the layer easy, however. The ventilation helps the mattress sleep cooler as well.
Transition – Further into the mattress, you’ll land on the transition layer of high density poly foam. This foam provides cradling support while protecting the sleeper from the firmer poly foam layer at the base of the bed
Base – After the transitional layer of HD poly foam, you find the firmest layer of high-density poly foam at the base of the Polysleep. This thick layer provides support for the layers above and gives the bed its shape.
Edge Support – A unique feature of the Polysleep is the high-density poly foam layer around the bed’s perimeter. This is usually a great feature for couples who may need to use the entire surface area of the mattress. Both sleepers can sleep right to the edge of the bed without feeling as though they will roll out of it.

Thoughts: The materials in the Polysleep start off in a standard form but move into a fairly unique construction. The bed has a mix of comfort and support with special consideration for couples or restless sleepers who need good edge support.
Head to our Polysleep mattress review for more details.
Zephyr
Cover – Starting off, the Zephyr has a mix of polyester, spandex, and cotton that is light and breathable. This gives a great feel to the bed initially and helps it sleep cool. I should also mention the Zephyr’s cover uses something called Nanobionic Technology, which is meant to increase local blood flow allowing your body to enhance recovery, improve athletic performance and promote a more restful sleep. I don’t have the scientific background to back up those claims, but if you’re interested there is some information on the internet for your perusal.
Comfort Layer – Just after the cover, a layer of gel infused memory foam provides a soft, contouring feeling around the body. The gel infusion helps draw heat away from the memory foam, which is known for trapping body heat otherwise. This is one major difference that separates the construction of the Zephyr from the Polysleep.
Contour – Similar to the Polysleep, the Zephyr has a soft layer of ventilated hybrid foam. Its soft feel of contouring the body is balanced with a quick response to pressure that helps bring some bounce to the bed.
Transition – The Zephyr’s transition layer is zoned for firmness, with firmer foam at the hips and softer foam at the shoulders. This feature is usually good for side sleeping spinal alignment. The Polysleep does not have this feature, which could mean that strict side sleepers have much easier decision to make.
Base – The Zephyr gets its shape from its HD poly foam base. This material is fairly common in bed-in-a-box mattresses, so this layer is par for the course.
Edge Support – An extra layer of HD poly foam surrounds the Zephyr to ensure good support all the way to the edge of the bed.

Thoughts: Although a few layers in the Zephyr are similar to the Polysleep, the Zephyr does offer a few more comfort features. The additional layer of gel memory foam and zoned pressure relief in the transition layer may appeal to sleepers who want that extra bit of luxury comfort.
Polysleep vs. Zephyr Head to Head
Though both beds are all—foam, I was actually surprised to find some fairly important differences between them. I will take a closer look at these differences and how they affect different types of sleepers.
The zoned support in the Zephyr transition layer is not in the Polysleep at all. This is one of the biggest factors in the price difference between the two. It is also a major factor in the overall experience of the bed.
The comfort layer of the Polysleep’s aerated hybrid foam begins a much different sleeping experience from the Zephyr’s gel infused memory foam comfort layer. Both give the body a contouring feel and sleep cool, but the overall firmness of the Polysleep is softer than the Zephyr.
Zoned support can be the most important factor for side and combo sleepers. Body weight is less evenly distributed in the side position than on the stomach or back, and combo sleepers need more adaptable beds because they switch positions often. Zoned support provides a mix of pressure relief and support for side sleepers and adaptability for combo sleepers. As for the comfort layers, the firmer Zephyr needs a softer comfort layer of memory foam to counter the firmer layers below. The Polysleep can afford to have slightly less give in the comfort layer because the layers below are generally softer.
Which Mattress Has the Best Feel?
When I assess the feel of a mattress, I usually start with a firmness test. Firmness is rated on a scale of 1 to 10 (6.5 being the industry standard for medium firmness). Firmness is somewhat subjective, so I run the test with my co-workers of various body weights, shapes, and sizes. The rating you see is the average of all our personal firmness ratings.
Polysleep
The Polysleep earned a firmness rating of 6/10, which is medium soft. I felt this softness on first contact, with my body sinking into the mattress a bit as soon as I laid down on my back. However, the support of the lower layers kicked in quickly, and I never felt stuck in the mattress at any time. Strict side sleepers should do well with the Polysleep because of the pressure relief in the shoulders and hips in the side position. I felt good spinal alignment when I tested my side.
On my stomach, the Polysleep’s softer nature worked against it slightly. My hips sank into the bed when rolling onto my stomach, a position that can cause uncomfortable spinal misalignment over the course of a night. This is especially important to consider if you are 250 pounds or above. The Polysleep may not provide enough support for you in any sleeping position
Zephyr
I gave the Zephyr a firmness score of 7/10. This is a medium firm feel. The mattress immediately gave me a great feeling of support while lying on my back. Strict back sleepers should enjoy the feeling of being on top of the mattress with good spinal alignment. Changing positions was easy because of the Zephyr’s good mobility, which is great for combo sleepers.
On my side, the zoned support layer allowed my shoulders to sink into the mattress and maintain spinal alignment. I felt good support throughout the rest of my body as well. I can recommend the Zephyr for strict side sleepers, which is usually not the case for firmer mattresses. On my stomach, I also initially felt the support of the firmer feel, but I could feel my hips sinking into the mattress over time. If you are a combo sleeper who stomach sleeps only a little bit, you should be fine here. However, strict stomach sleepers may need a mattress with even more support.
Which Mattress is for You?
I had great fun putting together this review of the Polysleep and the Zephyr for you! You should have a good idea of each bed’s construction, how they differ, and how you can expect either bed to perform for you. Which mattress should you pick? That’s 100% your call, but here is a summary of the major points to hopefully help your buying decision.

After considering all of the similarities and differences, I believe the Polysleep will work better with side sleepers. Folks who go to bed in this position and stick there often find their shoulders and hips jammed up on firmer mattresses. The pressure relief from the contouring comfort and transition layers works wonders for nighttime comfort in the side position. The Polysleep also has some surprising features that work for couples—motion isolation and good edge support.
The slightly firmer profile that the Zephyr gives you should work well for strict back sleepers. The poly foam support layers provide good spinal support without giving up any of the comfort of the top layers. Stomach sleepers may need something a bit firmer at the hips to keep the back in alignment, but combo sleepers who only stay on the stomach for a little bit shouldn’t have a problem.
Keep in mind that the Polysleep company is Canadian, but they do sell the Polysleep in the US. As I write this, the Zephyr is only available in Canada. That may change in the near future.
Both the Zephyr and the Polysleep offer a 100 day trial period and a 10 year warranty. Before testing your new mattress, remember that it does ship in a compressed form. It will need to decompress for a few hours once you take it out of the box. However, the price difference is substantial between the two. The Polysleep price range is between $675—$950 while the Zephyr ranges between 1,425—$2,350.
My core takeaways from the Polysleep and Zephyr comparison are down below! This shortlist of features is the best way to summarize the rest of the review if you are ever short on time.
Polysleep
- If you are looking for a softer feel, then the Polysleep will likely fill your needs. Strict side sleepers should enjoy the pressure relief in the shoulders and hips this mattress provides.
- The Polysleep ($675—$950) is a much better value than the Zephyr (1,425—$2,350). If you don’t need the extra features the Zephyr brings, that’s quite a difference in price for not-so-much difference in the basic sleeping experience.
Zephyr
- The firmer overall feel mixed with the zoned support layer make the Zephyr a potentially good choice for back—side combo sleepers.
- Couples should find a lot to love with the Zephyr because of its edge support, which made the bed feel a little bigger.
How Much Do the Polysleep and Zephyr Cost?
