See Recent Class Action Lawsuits

Here are the most recent class action lawsuits against sleep products. These have been pulled from classaction.org.

Zinus Mattress Can Release Dangerous Glass Fibers, Lawsuit Claims

Filed March 12th, 2020. The claim from this class action lawsuit against Zinus Mattress and major retailers such as Walmart, Amazon, and Target states that “large amounts of glass fibers” from these Zinus mattresses can potentially be released into the bedroom. These fibers, the claim states, could cause “life threatening inury”. Defendants’ clothing in the bedroom may have also been destroyed by these fibers. The claim also states that these fibers, once released into the air, may cause respiratory infections and require surgery to remove them. For more information and the full report, click here.

Wayfair Sold Mattresses Infested With Bedbugs For 2 Years, Lawsuit Claims

Posted April 8th, 2019. This lawsuit claims that major retailer Wayfair sold mattresses that were “infested and crawling” with bedbugs. It also goes on to mention that while Wayfair was aware of the situation, they did nothing to correct it, but rather continue to sell these infested mattresses to consumers. The claim says Wayfair has known about the issue since as far back as 2016. Consumers in the report mention having itchy bumps and having to throw away household and bedroom items, not to mention the fear they have that there could be more. For more information and the full report, click here.

Overstock's Hypoallergenic Mattress Contains Fiberglass, Lawsuit Claims

Filed February 19th, 2021.  A lawsuit against overstock.com claims that their supposed luxury line of mattresses contained dangerous fiberglass that leaked into the bedroom. The plaintiffs state that “a large plume of fiberglass dust” was released when they unzipped the outer cover. Additionally, since it was marketed as a hypoallergenic and natural product, many customers who already had breathing difficulties purchased this mattress. Many plaintiffs also report the fiberglass reaching the HVAC unit, which can cause damage throughout the entire home. For more information and the full report, click here.

Mattress Firm's Bed Tech Bed Frames May Collapse, Lawsuit Claims

Filed April 8th, 2021.  A class action lawsuit filed against Mattress Firm claims that their Bed Tech bed frames may collapse due to a design issue, leading to injury or death. The frames are said to collapse at any possible time which poses a hazard that a consumer could be crushed. Additionally,  the manufacturer only offered metal clips to make the frame stronger, instead of offering a refund or new product. This product was also recalled on March 17th. For more information and the full report, click here.

How it Works

1. The Consumer Product Safety Commission ensures all products meet a set of established standards. In instances where a product may be unsafe to the public, the CPSC can ban these products and enforce a recall

2. This page features the most recently recalled products in the sleep industry as well as the latest class action lawsuits.

In Summary

Products can be recalled for many reasons. Most of the time, it’s due to the mattress not meeting flammability standards (which makes it a fire hazard) or harmful materials found in the product. This tool ensures you and your family can have peace of mind.
