Founded in 2011, DubsLabs created its Moonbow collection with an aim to help folks get better Zzz’s in and out of the bedroom. From its sleep mask to its headphones (cleverly named Bedphones), most Moonbow accessories can be easily packed in a suitcase, stowed in a nightstand, or used on the go.

While I haven’t had the chance to test all DubsLabs products, I have been snoozing with the DubsLabs Bedphones for about one week. So follow along as I detail all the need-to-know info about these unique sleep headphones!

How Do DubsLabs Bedphones Work?

As I said, I’ve been testing the DubsLabs Bedphones for about one week, and I’m ready to tell you all about my experience. However, if you’re short on time or just want the need-to-know basics, take a moment to peruse the key features below:

DubsLabs Bedphones Key Features

• Wireless – These are wireless Bluetooth headphones designed to connect to your smart device. So, there’s no need to plug anything in or fiddle with extra wires; simply connect them to your phone and play whatever music you like.
• 13-Hour Playtime – Once your Bedphones are fully charged, they can play music for up to 13 hours straight. Of course, we don’t necessarily recommend you sleep for 13 hours, but it’s nice to know these headphones won’t shut off mid-slumber.
• Microphone – The Bedphones can be used on the go, and have a built-in microphone for folks looking to use them for a phone call. Simply position the mic near your mouth, hook the speakers around your ears, and chat away.
• Memory Wire – Memory wire ear hooks can be adjusted and bent to conform to the precise shape of your ear. Personally, this one of my favorite features, as it allows you to customize the fit and make sure they’re snug around your ears.
• On-Ear Design – Bedphones speakers are incredibly thin and feature a patented on-ear design intended to make your sleep experience more comfy. Instead of going in your ear (like earbuds, for example), these speakers rest against your ear so that you don’t feel them as you roll around in bed (more on this later).
• Carrying Case – Finally, these Bedphones come packaged with a sturdy little carrying case, which makes traveling with them more convenient.

Essentially, the main thing to note about these Bedphones is that they perform just like other Bluetooth headphones in that they connect to your smart device. You can use them to listen to music, talk on the phone, or even take them on the treadmill. The key difference, though, is that the speakers are crafted to rest against your ear in order to make your sleep experience more comfortable.

My Experience with DubsLabs Bedphones

Okay sleepers, let’s talk about my experience slumber with these Bedphones. The first thing I noticed when I unpackaged them was the compact carrying case they come with. Whenever I wanted to take my Bedphones to work or a friend’s house, I simply stuck them in the case, tucked the case in my purse, and kept it movin’. If you’re looking for headphones that can be easily stowed on the go, these definitely qualify.

That said, I have to confess that I do not like to listen to music, podcasts, or anything other than white noise while I sleep. But after testing these Bedphones for about a week, I can certainly see how they’d come in handy for those who do. The speakers are thin, round, cushy, and rest against the ear in a very comfortable way.

In fact, I could barely feel them at all when I slept on my side. The foam-covered speakers seamlessly slipped between my ear and pillow, while the memory wires kept them securely fastened around both ears.

Meanwhile, the inline remote let me adjust the volume by pressing the plus and minus buttons, and the sound quality was surprisingly good. But it’s important to note that these are not noise cancelling headphones. In fact, my partner complained that he could hear the music coming from my Bedphones while he tried to sleep (which is my main gripe with this accessory).

Perhaps it’s because the speakers rest on top of the ear rather than inside of it, but it’s pretty easy for others to hear what you’re listening to. If you share your bed with a partner, you might want to consider this before making your purchase.

Other than that, I enjoyed my experience testing the DubsLabs Bedphones. I don’t see myself replacing my regular headphones with this made-for-sleep model (though you technically could), and I think I’ll continue to stick with my white noise machine. But folks who love to drift off to their personal playlist of lullabies might find that Bedphones are the just the thing!

The Verdict: Though my partner was a little annoyed by them, I was impressed by how comfortable the DubsLabs Bedphones are. If you’re looking for a way to listen to soothing tunes without plugging headphones directly into your ears, this is a great way to go.

• Not Noise Cancelling – If you’re looking for a pair of noise cancelling headphones, you might want to look elsewhere. While these are uniquely designed to be used in bed, they do not cancel outside noise in any way.
• Noisy for Others – In my experience, my partner was able to hear the music coming from the speakers as I slept with these Bedphones. If you sleep with a partner, it’s worth noting that these headphones emit a bit of noise.
• Pricey – At about $150, these Bedphones aren’t going to be in everyone’s budget. Keep in mind, though, that you have 30 days to return them if you’re not satisfied.
