Slithering in with the latest sleep news. Are you familiar with the snake plant? The Sun says this plant has a rare ability that could impact your sleep in a big way.
So what’s a snake plant anyway? According to Costa Farms, the snake plant, or Sansevieria trifasciata, is a hardy, adaptable, indoor plant that thrives in a wide variety of conditions, and pairs well with modern and contemporary interior design.
Speaking of interior design, apparently, it’s not such a bad idea to place one in your bedroom. The article states that the rare benefits of these plants stem from the fact they not only pump oxygen into the room, but they continue pumping it all night long.
Thirty-two grams of oxygen are released per every 150 grams of plants, and the average human being consumes about 550 liters of oxygen a day. This boost of oxygen can help you sleep better, improve your mood, and help you to be more mentally alert the next day.
The snake plant is native to Africa. Patch Plants calls the snake plant “almost unkillable” on their site due to its ability to withstand extremely dry conditions with little water. They call the bedroom a superb location for this plant, thanks to its storage of oxygen during the day and release at night. This plant purifies the air as well, eliminating harmful chemicals from the air.
