If you weigh more than 250 pounds, you’re going to put more pressure on a mattress and might benefit from a super-supportive and durable bed. Brooklyn Bedding’s Titan line was created with this specific purpose in mind.
Now, the question is: does the brand deliver on its promise of giving heavier folks a luxurious sleeping experience with the Titan Plus Elite? That’s what we’re here to find out.
My colleague Nichole and I took this mighty mattress to the lab to test its durability, support, and cooling, among other categories. See what we found below.

Titan Plus Elite Mattress Overview
The Titan Plus Elite is a 14.5-inch hybrid mattress designed for heavier sleepers. It combines individually encased coils and high-density memory foam for support and pressure relief. This mattress also features Brooklyn Bedding’s GlacioTex+ Cooling Cloud Pillow Top to deliver a cool-to-the-touch feel.
After taking this mattress for a spin, I was impressed with its cooling performance, solid edge support, and motion isolation. Heavy back, side, and stomach sleepers will find it provides ample support and comfort, while average and lightweight back and stomach sleepers will also benefit from its firmness and pressure relief.
I also think this mattress is well-suited for couples due to its motion isolation and supportive edges, but side sleepers with joint pain may find it a bit too firm.

The Titan Plus Elite performed well across the board in a way that mattresses seldom do. The only drawback I can think of is Brooklyn Bedding’s 10-year limited warranty. While a mattress of this caliber shouldn’t see much wear and tear after 10 years, it would still be nice to have the peace of mind that comes with a lifetime warranty.
What Is the Titan Plus Elite Mattress Made Of?
The Titan Plus Elite is a staggering 14.5 inches tall and features a combination of heavy-duty, individually encased coils and high-density memory foam to provide zoned support and superior body contouring. Let’s take a closer look at each layer of the Titan Plus Elite below.
Cover – Brooklyn Bedding’s GlacioTex+ Cooling Cloud Pillow Top offers superior cooling and comfort. When hopping into this bed for the first time, I immediately noticed how cold the cover was against my back and felt it disperse heat as I continued to test it in different sleeping positions. Based on my experience, I would confidently recommend this mattress to folks who sleep hot at night.
Comfort Layer – The Titan Plus Elite’s comfort layer features 1.25 inches of TitanFlex memory foam to deliver responsive contouring and pressure point relief. As someone who falls into the average weight category, I thought this mattress felt comfortable around my hips and shoulders while lying on my side. Heavier side sleepers should sink more into the memory foam and deep pressure relief around their joints.
Transition Layer – Next, the Titan Plus Elite’s transition layer combines over 2,000 individually encased micro-coils and 1-inch of transition foam for improved pressure relief and motion isolation. Overall, I think this layer will help isolate your partner’s movements. In my experience, the Titan Plus Elite has fantastic motion isolation for a hybrid bed. During testing, I could barely feel Nichole’s movements as she switched between different sleeping positions on her side of the bed.
Support Layer – Finally, the Titan Plus Elite’s support layer consists of 8 inches of individually encased coils and 1 inch of high-density memory foam at the base to create a durable and supportive sleep environment.
Titan Plus Elite Mattress Firmness
Before I get too far into the firmness and feel of the Titan Plus Elite, it’s important to note that firmness is subjective. A mattress will feel firmer or softer to different sleepers depending on their body weight, shape, and preferred sleeping position.
To get a better understanding of how firm the Titan Plus Elite feels, Nichole and I took turns testing the mattress and gave it a firmness rating between 1 and 10. For reference, the industry standard is 6.5 out of 10, or medium-firm.
After testing this mattress on our backs, stomachs, and sides, Nichole and I found that this mattress has a true medium-firm feel. I felt lifted on this bed and could hardly detect any sinkage. Based on my experience, I predict most lightweight and average sleepers will likely feel more “on top” than “inside” of this mattress.
While heavier sleepers may sink in a little more, I still think this bed’s combination of sturdy coils and dense memory foam will give them enough support and body contouring for a restful night’s sleep.

Sleeping Position and Body Weight
Is the Titan Plus Elite a Good Mattress for Light Sleepers (Under 130 pounds)?
- Light Back Sleepers – Although the Titan Plus Elite is a mattress made for heavier people, I think it’s also a solid choice for lightweight back sleepers. Thanks to the bed’s plush pillow top cover, these sleepers should get plenty of support around their lower lumbar spine.
- Light Side Sleepers – While I think the Titan Plus Elite could work for lightweight back and stomach sleepers, side sleepers may want something softer. These sleepers will likely need more cushioning and contouring around their joints. I wouldn’t recommend this mattress to light stomach sleepers with sensitive joints.
- Light Stomach Sleepers – Similar to lightweight back sleepers, I think the Titan Plus Elite is great for lightweight stomach sleepers. Since this mattress will likely feel firmer than medium-firm to these sleepers, they should get enough support around their hips to keep their spines in a neutral position throughout the night.
Is the Titan Plus Elite a Good Mattress for Average Weight Sleepers (130–250 pounds)?
- Average Weight Back Sleepers – Average weight back sleepers and folks who struggle with back pain should seriously consider the Titan Plus Elite. While testing out this mattress for back sleeping, I felt lifted and “on top” of the mattress. Nichole, who suffers from back pain, noted that she felt great pressure relief around her lower lumbar spine and that she didn’t feel any pain or tension at all while on this mattress.
- Average Weight Side Sleepers – I think most average weight side sleepers should feel comfortable on the Titan Plus Elite. The pillow top should provide enough cushioning around the hips and shoulders for most sleepers in this category. However, I think this bed might be just a touch too firm for side sleepers with sensitive joints. I would recommend something softer, like a pure memory foam mattress, to these folks.
- Average Weight Stomach Sleepers – As someone who falls into this category, I think the Titan Plus Elite is a slam dunk for average weight stomach sleepers. I hardly noticed any sinkage around my hips and felt like my spine was in a neutral position the entire time I tested it. Nichole also noted that she felt good plushness around her chest without feeling constricted by the bed’s pillow top cover.
Is the Titan Plus Elite a Good Mattress for Heavy Sleepers (over 250 pounds)?
- Heavy Back Sleepers – The Titan is made with heavier sleepers in mind, and I think it delivers on all fronts. Heavy back sleepers will sink a little more into this mattress than lightweight and stomach sleepers, but they should still get ample support thanks to its coils and high-density memory foam. These sleepers should get plenty of pressure relief around their lower lumbar spine.
- Heavy Side Sleepers – When testing mattresses with colleagues who fall into this category, one complaint I often hear from them is that the bed is too thin, and they wind up feeling the springs beneath them on their sides. Thankfully, the Titan Plus Elite offers plenty of cushioning between its individually cased coils to give these sleepers the contouring they need around sensitive areas without them hitting the springs. As a result, I think heavier side sleepers with joint pain will find relief on this bed.
- Heavy Stomach Sleepers – Heavy stomach sleepers should sleep comfortably on this bed. I think these folks will experience a little more sinkage around their hips than average and lightweight stomach sleepers. However, they should still be elevated enough by the bed’s coils and high-density foams to maintain spinal alignment throughout the night.
Titan Plus Elite Mattress Performance
Now that the firmness and feel are out of the way, let’s dig into some of the other tests I performed on the Titan Plus Elite. I put each mattress through numerous tests so I can give readers an objective view of what it’s like to sleep on these beds every night.
See how the Titan Plus Elite performs in areas like edge support, cooling, motion transfer, and more.
Titan Plus Elite Mattress Pain Relief Performance
Pressure relief refers to how a mattress eases tension in high-pressure areas at the hips, shoulders, and back. Individuals who suffer from shoulder or hip pain need to sleep on a mattress that provides good pressure relief. These beds typically offer more sinkage and feel gentler around those sensitive pressure areas.
To test the Titan Plus Elite’s pressure-relieving abilities, Nichole and I placed a specialized mat across the mattress and slept on it in different positions. The mat uses thermal imaging to show how much pressure builds on our bodies.
It changes from blue and green for low pressure (with blue signaling no pressure at all) to orange and red for high pressure (with red being the highest pressure). We cover three areas: back pain, shoulder pain, and hip pain.
When testing the Titan Plus Elite with our pressure map, Nichole and I found minimal pressure buildup on our backs. As you can see in the graphic above, my back showed all blue, meaning there were no signs of pressure buildup. Nichole’s results showed a little yellow in her hips, but these are still solid results, considering she suffers from back pain.
The Titan Plus Elite also performed well when we switched to our sides. Our pressure map results showed a bit more green and some yellow in this position, which is not uncommon across most hybrid mattresses. I still think this mattress is an excellent choice for heavier folks with sensitive joints, but I would steer lightweight and average weight sleepers with joint pain to something softer.
Motion Transfer
Motion transfer refers to the amount of movement you will likely detect from one side of the bed to the other. If you sleep with a wiggly pet or have a partner who tends to change sleeping positions throughout the night, you’ll want a mattress that effectively traps motion. Prioritizing low motion transfer, or what we also call good motion isolation, can help you sleep soundly, no matter who’s moving around next to you.
Human Test
For the first motion transfer test, I lie on the mattress with a colleague, switch between different sleeping positions, and see how much they feel me from their side of the bed. During this test, my colleague and I take turns moving around on the bed while the other stays still to estimate how much motion someone might detect while sleeping with a partner or pet.
When testing the Titan Plus Elite mattress, Nichole and I could feel each other get in and out of bed the most. However, when it came to changing between different sleeping positions, we could barely feel what the other person was doing, which is great for a hybrid mattress.
Water Test
The next test is the “water test.” For this test, my colleague and I place a full glass of water on the mattress and see how much the liquid moves around with us. If the water has zero to little movement, it is safe to say that the mattress has low motion transfer, which is what you want to see.
During this test, Nichole and I observed more motion in the glass when getting in and out of bed. When changing positions, we only saw minimal movement in the glass.
Seismometer Test
The last motion transfer test is our seismometer test. This test involves dropping a 10-pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches, and 12 inches, then measuring the disturbance it causes. In this case, the bigger the lines on the graph, the bigger the disturbance and the higher the motion transfer.
Looking at the results above, you can see that there’s quite a bit of motion at the impact site, but it carries over very little. I would say these results aligned with the results of the human test; couples might feel their partners get in and out of bed, but it shouldn’t disturb them unless they wake up very easily.
Responsiveness
Responsiveness refers to how quickly a mattress reverts to its original shape after applying pressure. Memory foam usually has a low response to pressure, while hybrid mattresses with coils tend to have a high response to pressure.
Personally, I found the Titan Plus Elite pretty easy to move around on. I was able to change between sleeping positions without struggling. The cooling cover makes this mattress feel a little slippery, but this shouldn’t be an issue after putting sheets on it. I have no issues recommending this mattress for combination sleepers.
Cooling
Many factors determine how cool a mattress stays when you sleep on it. The materials inside the mattress largely contribute to whether it traps heat or releases it. The Titan Plus Elite’s cooling cover and individually wrapped coils help prevent it from absorbing too much heat.
I tested the Titan Plus Elite with a thermal gun, a device that uses color-coded imaging to measure how much and how quickly a mattress heats up when someone lies down on it.
If it heats more than 15 degrees Fahrenheit, I consider it to have poor cooling capabilities. 10 to 15 degrees indicates decent cooling, 5 to 10 degrees indicates good cooling, and less than 5 degrees indicates excellent cooling.
After taking turns lying on the Titan Plus Elite, Nichole and I saw the temperature go up 5 degrees, meaning it should keep most sleepers cool and comfortable at night.
Edge Support
Finally, Nichole and I tested the Titan Plus Elite’s edge support. Edge support measures whether you can sleep on the edge of the bed without feeling the side of the mattress collapsing under your weight. It can also help you determine a bed’s durability and whether it may sag over time.
When laying and sitting on the edge of this mattress, I found that it had excellent edge support. I never felt like I was falling off the bed at any point. I also thought the corner did a great job of supporting my weight as I sat on it. Based on this experience, I predict that folks with mobility issues should have no trouble bearing down on the mattress to get up.
Titan Plus Elite Mattress Performance For Couples
I think the Titan Plus Elite is a home run for couples. It has excellent motion isolation, especially for a hybrid bed, meaning most folks will not be disturbed by their partner’s movements. Meanwhile, the individually wrapped coils in its construction give it plenty of bounce for sex. Last but not least, the Titan Plus Elite’s solid edge support should allow couples to spread out and use the entire surface area of the bed.

My Final Thoughts about the Titan Plus Elite Mattress
We’ve checked out everything from the Titan Plus Elite’s construction to how it feels, but should you buy it? Check out my final thoughts to help you decide!
Who I Recommend the Titan Plus Elite Mattress For
- This bed is made with heavier sleepers in mind, and it truly delivers. Heavy back, side, and stomach sleepers should all feel supported and comfortable on this mighty mattress.
- I also think most average and lightweight sleepers will enjoy this mattress. Back and stomach sleepers in these weight categories should get ample support from this bed to maintain healthy spinal alignment.
- Couples looking for the best of both worlds in a mattress should check out the Titan Plus Elite. This bed has plenty of bounce for sex but absorbs enough motion so you can both sleep soundly at night without worrying about disturbing the other person.
- Hot sleepers should have no trouble falling asleep on this mattress. Its plush cooling cover didn’t heat up beyond 5 degrees when we tested it with our heat gun, indicating excellent cooling.
Who I Don’t Recommend the Titan Plus Elite Mattress For
- The Titan Plus Elite might be too firm for average and lightweight side sleepers with sensitive joints. These sleepers will need something that offers more cushioning around those pressure points.
- Despite its excellent motion isolation, I wouldn’t recommend this mattress to couples who wake up easily at night. These couples should probably opt for an all-foam bed that traps motion better.

Titan Plus Elite Mattress Vs
Now that we’ve gone over every inch of the Titan Plus Elite mattress, let’s take a minute to compare it to some of its competition from other brands.
Titan Plus Elite vs Big Fig
Similar to Brooklyn Bedding’s Titan line, the Big Fig is made with heavier sleepers in mind. The Big Fig is much firmer than the Titan Plus Elite, snagging a staggering 8 out of 10 on our firmness scale.
- Price: A queen-sized Big Fig mattress is $1,899 before any discounts. The Titan Plus Elite is a bit more expensive at $2,398 without coupons.
- Sleeping position: The Big Fig is an excellent option for heavy back and stomach sleepers. Since it’s so firm, these sleepers should get the support needed to keep their spines in a neutral position. Heavier side sleepers will likely fare better on the Titan Plus Elite, as this mattress has more cushioning to relieve pressure and pain around their shoulders and hips.
- Cooling: Both mattresses are great for hot sleepers thanks to their combination of individually wrapped coils and cooling foams.
- Body weight: The Titan Plus Elite is a great mattress for sleepers in all weight categories. Meanwhile, the Big Fig is much too firm for average and lightweight sleepers.

Titan Plus Elite vs Saatva Classic
The Saatva Classic has a traditional innerspring feel and fantastic edge support. The Saatva also landed at 6.5 out of 10 on our firmness scale.
- Price: The Saatva Classic is just a little bit cheaper than the Titan Plus Elite at $2,095 before any discounts.
- Sleeping position: The Saatva Classic and Titan Plus Elite are both excellent choices across the board for back and stomach sleepers. However, I would argue that the Titan Plus Elite performs better for side sleepers thanks to its plush cover layer.
- Cooling: The Titan Plus Elite has better cooling overall thanks to its cool to the touch GlacioTex material.
- Body weight: Both beds are excellent choices for heavy sleepers, but I think the Titan Plus Elite could appeal more to folks in different weight categories thanks to its super soft cover layer.

We were skeptical of buying a mattress on line but it could not have gone any smoother. Anthony answered all of our questions during our many phone conversations. The Saatva’s coil-on-coil construction provides a classic innerspring feel. It's a good option for combo sleepers, who will want to feel free to switch positions and avoid feeling “stuck” in the mattress. It comes in three firmness levels, so you should be able to find one that suits your needs.

Delivery was prompt and went without a hitch. Best of all the mattress is so comfortable! I haven't had such a good night sleep in years. Highly recommend this.
Patty, Saatva customerOther Models from Brooklyn Bedding
The Titan Plus Elite isn’t the only mattress in Brooklyn Bedding’s Titan line; this mattress also has to compete with the Titan Plus and Titan Plus Luxe. See how it fares against the other models below.
Titan Plus Elite vs Titan Plus Luxe
Similar to the Titan Plus Elite, the Titan Plus Luxe is designed for heavier sleepers. Per its name, the Titan Plus Luxe has a more luxurious feel than the standard Titan Plus model. The Titan Plus Luxe is also a hybrid bed, but it’s a bit firmer than the Titan Plus Elite.
- Price: The Titan Plus Luxe is much cheaper than the Elite at $1,599 before any discounts.
- Sleeping position: I think both models could appeal to back and stomach sleepers. However, I would recommend the Elite for side sleepers because of its extra cushioning.
- Cooling: The Titan Plus Elite performed better on our cooling test than the Luxe, but just barely. Both are excellent choices for hot sleepers.
- Body weight: Both beds are built for heavier sleepers, but the Elite version is the best bet for average-weight back and weight sleepers because it’s the softest of the Titans on the firmness scale.

Titan Plus Elite vs Titan Plus
The Titan Plus is the most stripped back model out of Brooklyn Bedding’s Titan line. We gave this mattress a 7.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale, making it a bit firmer than its more luxurious counterpart.
- Price: The Titan Plus Elite is more expensive than the standard Titan Plus. The Titan Plus is $1,249 at full retail price.
- Sleeping position: Back and stomach sleepers who prefer something firmer will likely enjoy sleeping on the standard Titan Plus. However, side sleepers and folks who want more cushioning from their mattress would probably prefer the Titan Plus Elite.
- Cooling: While we gave both of these mattresses high marks on cooling, the Titan Plus Elite comes with more features for folks who tend to sleep extra hot.
- Body weight: Both beds work best for heavier sleepers, but the Elite version is a better fit for average-weight back and weight sleepers because it’s a bit softer on the firmness scale.

Shante, Brooklyn Bedding customerOur Review Process
At Sleepopolis, our team of Certified Sleep Science Coaches personally test each mattress. We start by unboxing the mattress to figure out how difficult (or easy) it is to get the mattress from the box to the bed. Then, we spend time laying on the bed in different positions, taking time to assess it on our backs, stomachs, and sides. Next, we perform our Sleepopolis tests, using specialized tools to measure qualities like motion transfer, bounce, and pressure relief. Our last step is to open up the mattress and take a look at each layer. These steps allow us to give our final verdict on the mattress.
