One’s all-foam with pressure relieving features, while the other’s a luxury hybrid mattress with the combination of foam and coils. They both are dreamy in their own rights, but which one’s the best mattress for you?

In this section, I’ll describe how these beds feel in detail. The way a bed feels depends on your body type, weight, shape, and preferred sleeping position.
What’s the Firmness Difference?
It’s important to understand that, when it comes to mattresses, firmness isn’t a one-size-fits-all scenario. Your size, weight, shape, and other factors all determine your ideal level of firmness. So your preferences might not be the same as mine. When testing a mattress for firmness, we try to capture the variance different people might feel. I test every bed with colleagues of various body shapes, types, and sizes, then average those responses to determine the final firmness score.
I gave the Nectar a 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale. The industry standard for medium-firm is a 6.5 out of 10, so it has a a little bit of a softer feel. The top foam layers do a good job conforming around pressure points, so back and side sleepers should be comfy.
Meanwhile, I gave the DreamCloud a 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale, so it’s slightly firmer than average. I thought it felt very supportive but still had pressure relieving abilities due its top foams.
I think the DreamCloud offers more of a cushiony, “on top” of the bed feeling.
What Does Each Mattress Feel Like?
The Nectar Premier is a plush memory foam mattress that throws in some extra cooling features for good measure. The Premier features a polyethylene cover that’s literally cool to the touch, and I felt its effects firsthand in our mattress lab. The bed is super comfortable and breathable, meaning it should help regulate your body temperature and prevent you from overheating at night.
The DreamCloud strikes an excellent balance between pressure relief and support. Its quilted cover and top layer of memory foam offer some nice sinkage while its pocketed coil system gives you plenty of bounce and lift.
I think this combination will work for lots of different sleepers, especially folks who want to feel positioned squarely on top of their bed, like back or combination sleepers. However, the DreamCloud mattress might be too firm for strict side sleepers and those with sensitive joints.

Nectar Premier vs DreamCloud Comparing Mattress Performance
Temperature
Several factors impact a mattress’s ability to stay cool. First and foremost, I consider its construction. Since both mattresses are memory foam beds, you can expect that they will trap more heat than your typical innerspring or hybrid mattress. However, Nectar Premier uses gel-infused comfort foams in their mattresses to help offset some of that heat.
I tested both mattresses’ cooling features using our thermal gun. After laying on each for a few minutes and measuring how much heat each one trapped, I found that the Nectar Premier performed better overall. The Nectar Premier went up about 4 degrees Fahrenheit, while the DreamCloud increased by almost 7 degrees. Overall, both mattresses should do a decent job at keeping things cool throughout the night if you tend to sleep hot.
Motion Isolation
After testing out my fair share of mattresses, I’ve noticed that all-foam beds typically absorb motion and prevent it from transferring to the other side of the mattress. To determine if a bed has strong motion isolation, we perform a few tests on it. One of those tests consists of dropping a steel ball from various heights and measuring the disturbance it causes using a seismometer.
During this test, I found that both mattresses do an okay job of trapping motion and preventing it from going to the other side of the bed. You will likely only notice large movements (like getting in and out of bed). However, I would give the DreamCloud a slight edge here, as I only saw the motion spike after dropping the ball from the second-tallest and tallest heights.
Edge Support
Edge support measures the strength of a mattress’s perimeter. If a bed has strong edge support, you should be able to lie and sit down on it without it collapsing too much beneath you. This should be an appealing feature for couples, heavier people, or anyone who likes spreading out across the mattress surface.
When testing the edge support on both mattresses, I found that the DreamCloud performed better between the two. This is likely because the Nectar Premier is an all foam mattress while the DreamCloud is a hybrid bed. Hybrid models typically have better edge support thanks to the coils in their construction. I would recommend the DreamCloud to couples and folks with mobility issues over the Nectar Premier as a result.
Pressure Relief
Both beds performed well on our pressure relief test. For this test, we use a specialized pressure map mat to measure how much pressure the materials put on different body parts. The mat then creates a graphic or “map” of the body using color-coded imagery.
Areas with low pressure buildup are blue and green, and areas with high pressure buildup are yellow and red. As you can see on the map below, there are a lot of blue and green areas, indicating that the DreamCloud is good at relieving pressure.
Similarly, there is a good amount of green and blue on the map below, meaning the original Nectar Premier also had solid test results. Based on these results, I would say that both mattresses are great for back sleepers. However, I would recommend the Nectar Premier for side sleepers, as we saw more pressure buildup on the DreamCloud in that sleeping position.
Pain Relief
The results of the pressure map test can also indicate if these mattresses can help reduce pain in specific areas. Since the Nectar Premier and DreamCloud had similar pressure map results, I think they are both excellent options for relieving back pain for back sleepers. I’m not sure I would recommend either mattress to strict side sleepers or folks with joint pain, despite the Nectar Premier performing slightly better in this position.
Durability
I would say the DreamCloud is more durable than the Nectar Premier. The DreamCloud is a bit thicker and taller, telling me it is less likely to sag prematurely. The DreamCloud also features coils in its construction, which gives it a more supportive feeling than most memory foam mattresses. The Nectar’s support layer uses conventional foam, and while Nectar uses high-quality memory foam, it is still more prone to sagging than a hybrid bed.
