Firmness: 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale. Compared to our 6.5 rating for medium-firm, this means the Purple is a little firmer than average.
Motion Transfer: The Purple isolates motion well, meaning you shouldn’t feel much movement from a partner or pet.
Edge Support: The Purple’s edge support isn’t very impressive, meaning the edges do sag when sitting or lying along the edge. Strong edge support allows you to maximize the surface area of your bed, as well as making it easier to get in and out of the bed.
Pressure Relief: This bed offers excellent pressure relief for back sleepers and average pressure relief for side sleepers.

Motion Transfer: The Purple NewDay doesn’t isolate motion well, so you are likely to feel medium to large movements from a partner or pet.
Edge Support: The Purple NewDay also doesn’t have very sturdy edges. You are likely to sink down while sitting or lying along the edge of this bed.
Pressure Relief: This bed offers great pressure relief for back sleepers and solid pressure relief for side sleepers.

Firmness: 5.5 out of 10. Compared to our medium-firm standard 6.5, this means the Purple Restore Plus is very soft. We tested the Soft model, so the Firm likely is firmer.
Motion Transfer: This bed isolates motion well, so you shouldn’t be disturbed by movement from a partner or pet.
Edge Support: This bed has average edge support. We saw some sinkage while sitting, but less while lying along the edge.
Pressure Relief: This bed offers good pressure relief for both back and side sleepers.

Firmness: 6.5 out of 10, making this bed a true medium-firm mattress.
Motion Transfer: The Purple Rejuvenate Plus has excellent motion isolation, so you shouldn’t feel most movement from a partner or pet.
Edge Support: This bed has great edge support, so you should feel just as supported along the edge as you do in the middle of the bed.

Purple Mattress Review Summary
As you can see, these Purple mattresses differ in key ways, from construction to firmness to performance to price. They all share the Purple GelFlex grid in their top layers, but are otherwise quite unique.
Overall, the Purple and Purple NewDay are the most similar — the NewDay is a bit like a pared down version of the original Purple. Both of these beds provide a more distinct “Purple grid” feel, since the grid layer is easily felt through the thin covers. Both of these beds work well for back sleepers and are excellent cooling options.
The Purple Restore Plus and Purple Rejuvenate Plus both offer a much more luxe experience. While they still offer that jello-like Purple feel, they are more similar to other mattresses, as they include pocketed coils and more foams. These beds are both better choices for heavy sleepers, who weigh 250 pounds or more, as they are much more supportive than the other two.
Which Purple Mattress is Best For You?
Back Sleepers – I think back sleepers can pick between any of these beds. They are all good options for these folks. The Purple and NewDay definitely have a firmer feel, while the Restore and Rejuvenate feel a little softer, so it depends what you want.
Side Sleepers – I think the best option on this list for side sleepers is the Restore Plus, as it is the softest and offers adequate cushioning for the shoulder and hip. Side sleepers could do okay on the other beds if they also tend to sleep in another position, but the other three aren’t amazing side sleeper beds.
Stomach Sleepers – These Purple beds aren’t great for stomach sleepers. Lightweight folks, who weigh 130 pounds or less, could do okay on all the beds but the Restore Plus. Some average weight stomach sleepers may also feel comfortable on the Rejuvenate Plus.
Combination Sleepers – All four of these beds should work well for combination sleepers, as they are easy to move around on and change between sleeping positions.
Heavy Sleepers – The Rejuvenate Plus could be a fantastic option for those with larger body types, as it is an ultra-supportive bed that should ensure those with a heavier body weight maintain spinal alignment and feel comfortable.
Hot Sleepers – All these mattresses are great picks for hot sleepers, although the hybrid models should sleep a little cooler than the Purple and NewDay. The support coils allow for more breathability in the mattress.
