These beds are very similar — the WinkBed Plus is technically the same model as the WinkBed mattress — but there are some key differences.

Now let’s compare the difference in how these beds feel. At Sleepopolis, we rate firmness in beds on a scale from 1 to 10, where 1 is the softest and 10 is the firmest. We use 6.5 as the standard for medium-firm.
WinkBed
Our reviewer rated the WinkBed a 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale, meaning it is firmer than average. Keep in mind that we tested the Luxury Firm WinkBed, which is the middle model out of the three firmnesses offered. There are also Softer and Firmer versions.
Of the WinkBed, our tester reported feeling initial sinkage and pressure relief from the plush Euro top cover, which filled in around her lumbar region of the lower back. After that initial pressure relief, she felt the firm support from below and noted the WinkBed had an “on top of the bed” feel.
WinkBed Plus
We tested the WinkBed Plus with both a light and heavy sleeper to get two opinions on how it feels. Our lightweight tester rated it an 8 out of 10, while our heavyweight tester rated it a 7.5 out of 10. Both these ratings indicate the WinkBed Plus is firmer than average, as well as reflecting that it will likely feel firmer to lighter sleepers than to heavier sleepers, as the light sleepers won’t sink in as much.
Our testers also reported the WinkBed Plus as having an “on top of the bed” feel, with ample support.
Comparing What it’s Like to Sleep on the WinkBed and the WinkBed Plus
Depending on which position you are sleeping in, as well as your body type, beds will feel different to you than to others. Let’s go over what it will feel like for different folks to sleep on each of these beds.
WinkBed
Back — The WinkBed should work well for light, average, and heavy back sleepers. It offers a nice mix of comfort and support for these sleepers, with the plush Euro top on the surface and supportive coils below.
Side — The Luxury Firm WinkBed we tested is likely too firm for most side sleepers, although some light side sleepers may find it comfortable, as they won’t sink past the plush Euro top layer. However, the Softer version of the WinkBed may work well for more side sleepers.
Stomach — The Luxury Firm WinkBed should work well for lightweight stomach sleepers, as well as some average stomach sleepers, as it offers the firm support to keep their hips propped up and maintain spinal alignment. However, the Firmer version might be better for average to heavy sleepers.
Body Weight — Light sleepers, who weigh 130 pounds or less, won’t sink into the bed as much as average or heavy people. It may feel firmer to these sleepers, but they will still likely feel pressure relief from the Euro top layer, as they won’t sink deep enough to hit the support coils. Heavier people will sink in more, which could cause the bed to feel less firm. However, depending on primary sleeping position and the firmness option chosen, the WinkBed can work for people of a variety of weights.
WinkBed Plus
Back — The WinkBed Plus also works well for back sleepers, as it is supportive enough to maintain neutral alignment, but still offers some comfort. However, it will likely feel very firm to light sleepers, who weigh 130 pounds or less. Unless they prefer an ultra-firm bed, they may want a slightly softer option.
Side — For people of all weights, the WinkBed Plus is likely too firm. It doesn’t offer quite enough pressure relief around the shoulders and hips for these sleepers, who tend to need quite a bit of cushioning around these pressure points.
Stomach — The WinkBed Plus is generally a good option for stomach sleepers of all weights. Its firm and supportive feel should keep their hips lifted up, which promotes a neutral spine. However, while this bed provides good support for heavy stomach sleepers, they should be aware they might feel some pressure buildup in the midsection if that’s where they carry weight.
Body Weight — As a bed designed for heavy sleepers, the WinkBed Plus is generally a good option for providing support for heavy sleepers, but they should still be aware of their primary sleeping position. As our ratings from different testers indicate, the WinkBed Plus will likely feel firmer to lightweight sleepers than it does to heavy sleepers.
