Before buying a mattress topper, it’s important to consider what you are trying to change about your current mattress — such as if you’re trying to soften a firm mattress or get more support from your bed. It’s also important to consider factors about yourself, such as if you are a hot sleeper, your weight and sleep style, and if you have pain in the hips, shoulders, or lower back.
Who I recommend the PandaZzz Premium Double-Quilted mattress topper for
- I would recommend the PandaZzz Premium Double-Quilted Topper to back sleepers who want to alter a mattress that’s too firm for their taste. It allows for some contouring and cushioning, but still keeps you fairly elevated on the surface of the mattress.
- This topper is also a good choice for side sleepers who are looking for a little extra pressure relief. I would especially recommend it to side sleepers with a medium to medium-firm bed to add a little extra cushioning.
- I think this topper is also a good choice for people with allergies, skin sensitivities, or anyone who wants to ensure a very clean sleep environment. This topper has a washable cover, which is helpful for keeping things clean.
Who I don’t recommend the PandaZzz Premium Double-Quilted mattress topper for
- I would not recommend the PandaZzz Premium Double-Quilted Topper to stomach sleepers. Stomach sleepers generally need a firm sleep surface to keep their hips elevated. Adding a memory foam topper will only cause their hips to sink, leading to lower back pain.
- I’d also steer ultra hot sleepers in another direction. While this topper does have some cooling features, I think the plush knit cover will likely trap some body heat. Additionally, memory foam is a material that tends to retain heat, even with perforations or cooling gel.
- I also would advise that if you’re a side sleeper with a very firm mattress that you might want to consider a topper that is thicker or allows for more contouring. When I tested this topper on a firm mattress, I still felt some buildup in pressure points, like my shoulders and hips.

The PandaZzz Premium Double-Quilted Topper is a 3-inch memory foam topper with a jacquard knit cover. Let’s take a closer look at these materials.
Cover: The cover of this topper is a quilted double-jacquard fabric. It feels plush and is somewhat reminiscent of a pillow top. This cover has mesh along the sides, as well as a zipper that allows you to completely remove it. And it’s machine washable!
The bottom of the cover has an anti-slip grid of silicone nubs, which are supposed to keep the topper centered on your bed. This cover is also OEKO-TEX certified for safety.
Fill: The fill of the PandaZzz Premium Double-Quilted Topper is AirCell memory foam, which has an open-cell design with perforations to promote airflow within the topper. The foam is also CertiPUR-US certified to be free of harmful chemicals and pollutants.
How Does the PandaZzz Premium Double-Quilted Mattress Topper Feel
I personally tested this topper out by laying on it in different sleeping positions to get a good idea of its feel. It’s important to remember that feel is subjective, so my experience may not be the same as yours if you are larger or smaller than me, or if you have sensitive joints or back pain that may alter your experience.
I’m an average weight sleeper and I thought that this topper generally had a medium to medium-firm feel. I experienced some contouring and pressure relief, but still felt elevated while lying on the topper, rather than sinking deeply into it.
Now, the purpose of adding a topper is to alter the feel of your existing mattress, so here’s how I think the PandaZzz Premium Double-Quilted Topper will alter beds with different firmness levels.
Soft: I don’t think adding this topper to a soft mattress will really do much, as the purpose of the topper is to lower the firmness of the bed. This topper does have a slightly more supportive, buoyant feel than some memory foam toppers, so it may work for those with a bed they are sinking too deeply into, but overall I’m not sure this topper will add a lot to a soft mattress.
Medium-firm: On a medium-firm mattress, I think this topper will bring the firmness down to a medium-soft to soft feel. I think side sleepers with a medium-firm mattress who need some extra cushioning and softness will particularly benefit from this mattress topper.
Firm: Adding this topper to a firm mattress should bring the firmness level down to medium or medium-firm. I think this is a good option for back sleepers who have a firm mattress that they don’t enjoy the feel of. The topper will add some cushioning and pressure relief, but the firm mattress will still provide support.

My Verdict on the PandaZzz Premium Double-Quilted Mattress Topper
Overall, I thought the PandaZzz Premium Double-Quilted Topper was a great option to soften a firm or medium-firm mattress. I think back and side sleepers will get nice pressure relief benefits from it, but I’d recommend stomach sleepers steer clear. Back/side combination sleepers will also appreciate that it’s easy to move around on this topper.
I think the temperature regulating AirCell foam will help most people sleep temperature neutral, but I wouldn’t recommend this topper to very hot sleepers. Memory foam is a heat trapping material, so though the breathable perforations are working to combat that, it won’t eliminate overheating altogether.
