DreamCloud is an online mattress retailer that offers Standard, Premier, and Luxe models in both all-foam and hybrid options. The DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid model contains premium upgrades not found in the brand’s other models, such as three distinct support zones, reinforced coils along the edges, and a taller profile. I’ve tested more than 70 mattresses, and this bed is one of my personal favorites due to its medium-soft feel that provides soothing cushioning and pressure relief at the joints and lumbar region.
I’m a certified sleep science coach and have been testing and reviewing mattresses for Sleepopolis for three years. In our studio in Charlotte, NC, I’ve worked with a team of expert testers to evaluate more than 330 mattresses using a rigorous testing methodology that’s designed to find which specific sleepers they’re most compatible with. The best mattresses typically earn high scores on these tests, indicating their quality and durability.
In addition to having our team personally test every mattress, Sleepoplis works with a network of medical professionals, including board-certified doctors, physical therapists, and registered nurses who review our findings for accuracy. We work especially closely with our chief medical advisor, Dr. Raj Dasgupta MD, FACP, FCCP, FAASM, who provides expert insight for different kinds of sleepers based on the latest research.
When I tested the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid, I was blown away by its ability to relieve pressure in both the side- and back-sleeping positions. While the individually wrapped coils provide plenty of lift and support to promote spinal alignment, the layers of soft foam perfectly cradle the hips and shoulders, preventing them from bearing weight. I think sleepers who want a gentle hugging sensation but still prioritize support will find a lot to love from this mattress.
DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid Mattress Overview
The DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid is made from a quilted Euro top, two layers of pressure-relieving foam, and a layer of sturdy coils. These coils are individually wrapped, meaning they move independently from one another rather than as a single unit. This helps the bed reduce motion transfer, as one sleeper’s tossing and turning doesn’t affect the coils on the other side of the bed.
One luxury feature that stood out when we put the mattress through our testing methodology was the zoned support foam layer. This layer of foam has three zones that vary in firmness, with the firmest zone targeting the hips. The body typically needs more lift and support at the hips to maintain a neutral spinal position. While the foam offers more support in this area, it’s softer at the shoulders and hips to maintain a cozy, cushioning sensation.
Something I love about this mattress is its versatility. Its medium-soft feel is plush and cozy while still offering strong support. During testing, the bed scored highly on our pressure relief tests for both lightweight and average-weight side and back sleeping. This makes it a good choice for couples who have different body types or preferred sleeping positions, as it’s compatible with many types of sleepers.
DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid Value
We determine a mattress’s value by assessing whether the bed’s materials and performance match the price point. When we tested the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid, we found very high-quality materials. Upon cutting the bed open, we noticed that the coils closest to the edge were reinforced to be more supportive than the center coils. This is a luxury quality that’s not typically found in standard mattresses. The foams inside this DreamCloud mattress have also been third-party tested against the inclusion of heavy metals, harmful chemicals, and ozone depletors, earning a CertiPUR-US certification. This not only indicates quality and durability, but also ensures the safety of the materials.
According to DreamCloud, a queen-size Luxe Hybrid has a total value of $2,431. However, the brand offers the bed at a discounted price, costing only $1,499 for a queen. Most standard beds cost between $1,000 and $1,500, so it’s rare to find a luxury mattress for less than the $1,500 to $2,000 range. Although it’s cheaper than most luxury beds, the quality of the materials, as well as its performance during testing, make this mattress of extremely high value. This bed is great for anyone seeking a luxury experience without the extravagant price tag.

What Is the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid Made Of?
When we assess mattress materials, we cut directly into the side of the bed and evaluate each individual layer. This allows us to verify that what’s inside the bed matches the online description.
When I cut into the 14-inch DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid, I found a soft quilted cover, two thick layers of foam, and a layer of individually wrapped coils. Since this bed is marketed as a luxury model, I looked closely for upgraded materials, such as cooling technology, zoned support, and reinforced edges.
As a bed-in-a-box mattress, it arrives compressed in a box at your doorstep ready to be inflated. Since a queen size weighs a hefty 103 pounds, I needed an extra set of hands to help me unbox and set up the bed. With Kenny’s assistance, we were able to quickly open the box, unroll the plastic wrap, and puncture the plastic cover. The bed immediately began to inflate and was ready to use within about 30 minutes. I was pumped that the mattress had handles, which allowed us to easily lift it up and onto the bed frame.

Cover – This silky smooth cover is a beautiful navy color with silver-patterned polka dots. The cover is stitched with a cooling phase change material and quilted with memory foam to create a Euro top. According to DreamCloud, the cover also contains cooling fibers made from a phase change material designed to dissipate heat.
Comfort Layer – A soft memory foam layer that offers initial pressure relief around the hips, shoulders, and lower back.
Transition Layer – A layer of foam that has been zoned for support, meaning its firmness fluctuates depending on where the body needs more or less lift.
Support Layer – The main support system is made from 8 inches of individually wrapped innerspring coils. The coils along the perimeter of the mattress are reinforced to increase the edge support.
Base Layer – A thin layer of high-density foam gives the coils something to bounce off of.

DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid Mattress Firmness
Firmness is one of the main factors customers pay attention to when looking for a new mattress. Since this factor is pretty subjective, and every sleeper has their own preference, we invited multiple expert testers to lie on the mattress on their backs, sides, and stomachs. Each tester provided us with their personal firmness rating, and then we found the average to create the final firmness score. The firmness scale goes from 1 to 10, with 1 being the softest and 10 being the firmest. For reference, a score of 6.5 out of 10 represents a true medium-firm mattress, which is the most common firmness preference among sleepers.

The DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid falls at a 6 out of 10 on our mattress firmness scale, meaning it’s just a tad softer than medium-firm. While the bed is still super supportive, the medium-soft experience allows for more cushioning around the body’s pressure points, making it a good choice for those with sensitive joints.
We found this firmness level most compatible with side and back sleeping. While there’s a decent amount of sinkage and a slight “hugging” sensation around the body, there’s plenty of support to keep the spine in a straight neutral line. However, we don’t recommend this bed to strict stomach sleepers, as you may find your hips sinking too far into the soft layers, which can lead to lower back pain.
DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid Mattress Performance
When we discuss a mattress’s “performance,” we’re referring to how well it scored when we put it through a series of tests to evaluate pressure relief, motion isolation, responsiveness, cooling, and edge support. I grabbed my fellow testers Kenny Timper and Erin Chiles to help me assess the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid in our Sleepopolis studio.
We performed both objective and subjective tests on this mattress to get a better understanding of how the mattress performs for different sleepers. Below, I’ll dive into each test and how the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid performed.
DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid Pressure Relief Performance
Regardless of your preferred sleeping position or body type, pressure relief is an important factor to consider. A mattress can relieve pressure at the body’s most sensitive areas by providing enough sinkage and cushioning to cradle the joints and evenly distribute your weight. According to our Chief Medical Advisor Dr. Raj Dasgupta, soft memory foam is one of the best materials to provide pressure relief and prevent pain from forming over time.
Kenny and I tested pressure relief by lying on the mattress in the back- and side-sleeping positions and observing where we felt supported, cushioned, or pressure building up. For reference, I weigh less than 130 pounds, so I fall in the lightweight sleeper category. Kenny weighs between 130 and 230 pounds, making him an average-weight sleeper. Since Kenny weighs more than I, he usually finds slightly more sinkage and contouring. Since I sink in less, I typically perceive mattresses as just a touch firmer than average.
When we tested the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid, we gave it an average pressure relief score of 5 out of 5 stars in the side-sleeping position and 4.5 stars in the back-sleeping position. When we averaged these scores together, we got an overall pressure relief rating of 4.8 stars.
In the side-sleeping position, I felt like I was weightless and floating on a cloud off to dreamland. While I felt incredibly supported and lifted, there was still enough cushioning around my hips and shoulders to prevent pressure buildup. Kenny had a similar experience. “The comfort layer cradles you, while the rest of the layers prop you up just enough to keep your spine in alignment,” he said. We think the combination of plush contouring and spinal support makes this bed an excellent match for side sleepers, especially those looking for joint pain relief, so we gave the bed a perfect 5-star rating for side-sleeping pressure relief.
When I switched onto my back, I could feel myself melting into the foam layers yet remaining lifted and supported by the coil layer. My hips were lifted in line with my shoulders, placing my spine in a straight neutral line, but I still experienced excellent contouring around my upper back, lumbar region, and hips.
While I rated the bed 5 stars for back sleeping, Kenny found slightly more sinkage at his hips, which placed a bit of pressure at his lower back, so he rated this position 4 stars. “I think the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid is great for average-weight back sleepers who prefer a soft surface,” he said. “I would recommend back sleepers pair this mattress with a low-loft pillow to ensure their necks and spines stay aligned.”
DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid Motion Isolation
Motion isolation is most important to people who sleep with a partner, pet, or child. If someone is tossing and turning next to you, a mattress with good motion isolation will absorb their movement and prevent it from reaching your side of the bed. This is especially appealing to light sleepers who are easily awakened, as it decreases the chance of sleep disruption. Dr. Raj Dasgupta also says that motion isolation can be an overall comfort indicator, as it promotes sound sleep and less waking up through the night. When we tested the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid for motion isolation, we found an overall score of 4.5 out of 5 stars.
We started with a ripple test, which involved placing a full tub of water on one side of the bed and moving around on the other side. We then observed the water and whether our movement disturbed it. I was actually very impressed with the motion isolation on the Luxe Hybrid, as it did a great job absorbing my motion at the source and preventing it from reaching the water tub. When climbing into bed, the water was primarily still, with just some slight ripples across the surface. The more I moved, the more the water began to sway, but it was never heavily sloshing or splashing up the side of the tub, so I rated the ripple test 4.5 stars.
Next, I put on a blindfold and lay down on one side of the mattress. Kenny then got in and out of bed next to me and rolled around, while I observed how my side was affected. I could feel the mattress adjusting to the weight of another person when he climbed into bed, but that was the largest disturbance. When he switched from his stomach to his back, I could feel him pressing into the mattress to assist him. However, the disturbance was pretty light, and I don’t think it was significant enough to wake someone up, so I gave the bed 4.5 stars for the partner test.
Based on these tests, I think the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid is a great mattress for couples, especially if you or your partner tends to toss and turn. While there was some slight motion transfer, the foam layers did a nice job at absorbing the majority of the motion at the source. If you’re easily awakened, you should be able to sleep through the night without feeling your partner moving around beside you.

DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid Responsiveness
When we talk about how responsive a mattress is, we mean how quickly it returns to its original shape after weight has been applied. We also consider how easy it is to move around on the bed, which can be important for combination sleepers to prevent them from getting stuck in the bed’s layers. We evaluated the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid’s responsiveness using four distinct tests to create a final score of 3 stars.
Switch test: First, I assessed how easy it was to switch from one position to the next on this mattress. The plush quilted cover on the Luxe Hybrid offers a lot of initial sinkage and cushioning. Moving around on the mattress was relatively easy, but I felt slightly trapped by the soft foams and had to put in a bit of effort to switch between positions. It wasn’t impossible to roll around, but people with mobility issues may struggle to seamlessly transition between sleeping positions, so I gave the bed 3 stars for the switch test.
Responsiveness test: Next, Erin tested how long it takes for the mattress to bounce back. She placed a 53-pound kettlebell on the mattress and allowed it to fully sink in. Then, she pulled the weight straight up and used a stopwatch to record how long it took for the bed to return to its original shape. The soft foams in this bed are pretty slow moving, so it took a full 2 seconds for the bed to rise. While 2 seconds seems like a short amount of time, it’s actually relatively slow in the mattress world and only earns this bed 2 stars for this test.
Sinkage test: For this test, Erin grabbed the kettlebell again and placed it directly on the center of the mattress. Once it completely sank in, she used a ruler to measure how many inches it sank down, which was a full 5 inches. This places the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid firmly in the “deep sinkage” category.
Bounce test: Finally, we tested how bouncy the mattress is by climbing 6 feet above the bed and dropping a 25-pound steel ball onto its surface. A yardstick on the wall allowed us to see exactly how high the ball rebounded, which was 20 inches. This classifies the bed as “high bounce,” which was surprising considering the foams’ slow response to pressure. Although the soft foams create a slight quicksand effect, this high level of bounce helps spring the sleeper from one position to the next when exerting some slight effort.
DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid Cooling
If you run hot at night, you may benefit from a mattress with cooling abilities to help dissipate heat and regulate body temperature. According to Dr. Raj Dasgupta, a mattress that effectively dissipates heat can help regulate your circadian rhythm and body temperature, which can lead to better sleep. With a cooling cover and breathable pocketed coils, I had high expectations for the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid’s performance in this category; however, it only earned 2.5 out of 5 stars.
Thermal gun test: We use a thermal gun to get a quantifiable look at how a mattress responds to body heat. First, we record the initial resting temperature of the bed. Next, a tester lies on it for 5 minutes and then records the bed’s temperature again. If the temperature increases by fewer than 5 degrees, we consider it to have excellent cooling. An increase of 5 to 10 degrees indicates good cooling, 10 to 15 degrees indicates decent cooling, and more than 15 degrees indicates poor cooling.

When Erin performed the thermal gun test, the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid went from 71.6 degrees to 85.6 degrees. This is a 14-degree increase, which only earned the bed 2.5 stars.
Cover test: Before Erin lay down for the thermal gun test, she felt the surface of the mattress and observed its initial feel. She noticed that it didn’t feel cool to the touch, but rather more temperature neutral. Erin predicted the bed’s subpar cooling abilities, saying, “This mattress has a soft feel and there is a lot of sinkage, so I’m worried about heat getting trapped.”
Feel test: As she was lying on the mattress during the thermal gun test, Erin paid attention to her body and whether she noticed the bed heating up. Since the bed didn’t offer any initial cooling, she noticed the temperature rising from neutral to slightly warm. Although Erin didn’t feel overheated, we think hot sleepers will find this bed too hot and should seek a more cooling mattress.
Based on the 2.5-star cooling abilities, I do not recommend this mattress to hot sleepers. While most sleepers should be comfortable with a temperature-neutral mattress, people prone to overheating and night sweats will likely find this bed too warm.
DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid Edge Support
Edge support is exactly what it sounds like — how supportive the edge of a mattress is. Ideally, the perimeter of a bed should be just as strong as the very center, allowing sleepers to fully spread out without feeling like they’re about to fall off. This can make the mattress feel larger to couples, as both sleepers won’t be crowding the center to get the best support. Strong edge support can also appeal to older adults and people with mobility issues, as it allows them to bear down on the side of the bed when getting in and out. We tested the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid’s edge support using a tape measure test, a seated test, and a full body test to create a final score of 3.8 stars.
Tape measure test: For this test, we simulated how the edges perform for sleepers of different weights. We stacked weighted plates together to create a 99-pound stack, a 154-pound stack, and a 198-pound stack and placed these stacks directly on the edge of the mattress. We then used a tape measure to check how many inches the layers compressed. From the lightest to the heaviest stack, the sinkage went from 3 inches to 6 inches to 7 inches. Considering this bed has a starting height of 14 inches, 7 inches of sinkage from the heavy stack takes away half the height of the mattress. When we combined the ratings from each stack, the Luxe Hybrid earned an overall score of 3.3 stars for this test.
Seated test: Kenny then tested the edge support by sitting directly on the side of the bed with his feet planted on the floor. He said, “Overall, the seated edge support is pretty solid. I noticed some sinkage from the pillow top, but the other layers weren’t impacted at all.” However, he did note that there’s just a bit too much sinkage for people with mobility issues to rely on the edge for complete support, so he gave the bed 4 stars for the seated test.
Full body test: Finally, Kenny lay along the edge of the Luxe Hybrid in all three sleeping positions and observed his stability. Regardless of which position he was in, he felt completely secure and supported. No matter how close to the edge he got, he never felt like he was going to roll off the bed. “This is a great choice if you’re looking for a soft and luxurious mattress that allows you to use the entire surface,” he said.
Although the bed only earned 3.8 stars total for edge support, I still think most sleepers can benefit from these edges. Although the edges significantly collapsed when we placed weight directly on them, they remained strong when Kenny lay directly on them. People with mobility issues and heavy sleepers might find too much sinkage when sitting, but solo sleepers and couples should be able to completely spread out and still feel supported by the edge.
DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid Mattress Performance for Couples
If you sleep with a partner, motion isolation, cooling, responsiveness, and edge support are the most important performance factors to consider. Based on the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid’s performance in these categories, I think it could be a good choice for some couples, but there are some important caveats to keep in mind.
When it comes to motion isolation, this bed excels. Even if you’re easily awakened, your partner will be able to toss and turn all night without drawing you out of sleep. I also think couples will be able to completely spread out and sleep right up to the edge of the bed.
The 2.5-star cooling score suggests that hot-sleeping couples may find this bed too warm. Since two sleepers heat up quicker than just one, I could see two hot sleepers struggling to stay cool. The 3-star responsiveness isn’t too concerning, but sexually active couples should be aware that they may experience a sinking effect that makes it harder to move around.
Other Performance Factors to Consider
Pressure relief, motion isolation, cooling, responsiveness, and edge support are the main performance factors most important to sleepers. However, there are a few additional things you’ll want to consider before confirming your purchase.
Sex
Our score for sex is created by combining our responsiveness, cooling, and edge support scores. Responsiveness is important because it allows couples to seamlessly switch positions without getting trapped in the bed’s layers. Cooling also helps prevent couples from overheating, while strong edges let them use the entire surface area of the bed. Based on the 3-star responsiveness, 2.5-star cooling, and 3.8-star edge support, the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid earns 3.1 stars overall for sex. While couples will still be able to have sex on this mattress, they may find things getting a bit too steamy, especially since they’ll have to exert a bit of effort to move around on the bed.
Noise
Erin evaluated the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid for noise by pressing on the layers, rolling around on the bed, and jumping on it. Sometimes the coils in hybrid mattresses make a squeaking sound, but this mattress was completely silent. Regardless of how aggressively Erin pressed on the bed, it didn’t make a peep, so she gave it 5 stars for noise.
Base Compatibility
If you own an adjustable base, the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid is a great mattress to pair it with. When we placed it on an adjustable base in our studio in the TV and zero-gravity presets, it was able to perfectly bend and conform to the base. We were impressed by how securely the bed sat on the base, so we rated the base compatibility 5 stars.
Durability
If a mattress is durable, you’ll be able to use it for a long time without worrying about the materials deteriorating. We assess durability by looking at the quality of the materials, the bed’s support and edge support scores, and its warranty. High-quality materials and a strong support system are key to preventing premature sagging. The warranty also gives us an idea of how long the brand expects its mattress to hold up.
Overall, I think the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid is an extremely durable bed. With luxury features like zoned support foam, a shift-resistant cover, and reinforced edges, it’s an extremely high-quality product. All the foams used in this bed have obtained a CertiPUR-US certification, which ensures they’ve met strict standards for content, emissions, and durability. Although it’s a softer mattress, the sturdy coils provide excellent support, and I’m not concerned about premature sagging. DreamCloud also provides a lifetime warranty, so the brand is confident in the bed’s ability to withstand the test of time.

DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid Sleeping Position and Body Weight
There are two elements that will largely determine how a mattress feels for you — your body type and preferred sleeping position. For example, what feels firm to a lightweight side sleeper might be too soft for an average-weight stomach sleeper. Below, I’ve created a guide to each body type and sleeping position. Simply find your weight and typical sleeping position to see how the bed may feel for you.
Before we dive into our recommendations, though, we want to recognize that people come in all shapes and sizes, and people of every size deserve a mattress that works for their body type. We use the weight categories light, average, and heavy to more easily categorize sleepers based on how mattresses will perform for their body type, as most mattresses are designed for the group we call “average” (130 to 230 pounds).
As a general takeaway, lighter sleepers don’t require as much support as average-weight sleepers, and mattresses will tend to feel firmer to them. On the other hand, heavy sleepers tend to need more support than average-weight sleepers and sink into the mattress more. As far as sleeping positions go, side sleepers likely need a softer mattress while stomach sleepers usually need a firmer, more supportive one. Back sleepers are usually somewhere in the middle.
Is the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid a Good Mattress for Light Sleepers (Under 130 pounds)?
- Light Back Sleepers – These sleepers will experience excellent spinal alignment, with some comforting cushioning along the upper and lower back.
- Light Side Sleepers – The soft foams do a great job cradling the hips and shoulders and relieving pressure in these areas, while still lifting the spine into neutral alignment.
- Light Stomach Sleepers – These sleepers will find cushioning at the hips and chest, yet will still get enough support at the hips to keep the spine straight.

Is the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid a Good Mattress for Average-Weight Sleepers (130–230 pounds)?
- Average-Weight Back Sleepers – These sleepers will experience some slight sinkage at the hips and contouring at the lower back. While the sinkage doesn’t compromise the spinal alignment, those with preexisting back pain may need firmer support.
- Average-Weight Side Sleepers – The hip and shoulder joints are cushioned by the plush pillow top layer and find enough sinkage to relieve pressure.
- Average-Weight Stomach Sleepers – This mattress is likely too soft to keep the hips in line with the shoulders in this position.
Is the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid a Good Mattress for Heavy Sleepers (over 230 pounds)?
- Heavy Back Sleepers – These sleepers will find good support in this position, but some may find it too soft and will desire firmer support and more lift at the hips.
- Heavy Side Sleepers – The plush cushioning and sinkage should relieve pressure at the hips and shoulders while still supporting the spine.
- Heavy Stomach Sleepers – This bed is too soft for these sleepers, so they should seek a firmer mattress that keeps the hips lifted.

DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid vs. Competitor
Most major mattress retailers sell a luxury hybrid model. Let’s take a look at an option from one of DreamCloud’s competitors, Nectar.
DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid vs Nectar Luxe Hybrid
Like the DreamCloud, the Nectar Luxe Hybrid is a 14-inch bed-in-a-box mattress that combines two layers of pressure-relieving foam with a layer of individually wrapped coils. However, the Nectar has a smooth cover, while the DreamCloud has a quilted cover. We found the Nectar slightly softer than the DreamCloud, falling at a 5.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale. However, the Nectar Luxe Hybrid was less supportive, offering more sinkage than lift. This bed earned an overall average rating of 3.5 out of 5 stars, compared to the DreamCloud’s overall score of 4.1 stars.
- Price: The Nectar Luxe Hybrid is $865 more expensive than the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid, with a queen size costing $2,364 at full retail.
- Sleeping position: The Nectar is best suited to side sleepers, providing lots of sinkage and contouring at the hips and shoulders.
- Cooling: The Nectar performed better on our cooling test, earning 3.5 stars in this category.

Our Review Process
At Sleepopolis, our team of certified sleep science coaches personally test each mattress. We start by unboxing the mattress to figure out how difficult (or easy) it is to get the mattress from the box to the bed. Then, we spend time lying on the bed in different positions, taking time to assess it on our backs, stomachs, and sides. Next, we perform our Sleepopolis tests, using specialized tools to measure qualities like motion transfer, bounce, and pressure relief. Our last step is to open up the mattress and take a look at each layer. These steps allow us to give our final verdict on the mattress.
