Construction

The L300 adjustable base is 15 inches tall and uses a steel construction to give it a strong, sturdy feeling. The mattress platform is wrapped in polyester and has a softer look to it. The base uses two retainer bars at the foot of the bed to hold the mattress in place as you adjust the angle of incline.

The Lucid bed base uses two separate motors to allow the head and legs to adjust independently. The head of the base is adjustable from 0-60 degrees while the leg portion of the base can adjust anywhere from 0-45 degrees. The L300 comes with a wireless remote to adjust the angle of the base and I found that both the head and leg portions adjusted smoothly and that the motors were pretty quiet while changing position.

Assembly

The assembly of the L300 doesn’t require any tools and I found it to be pretty simple. The base arrived folded in half in a cardboard box with two legs already attached. Once I unfolded the base I simply screwed the remaining four legs onto the structure. Once the legs were securely on the base I flipped it over and attached the retainer bars. Finally, I plugged in the L300 to complete the setup.

Features

The remote has a memory feature, so you can save your favorite position. With one click of the memory button the L300 will adjust the head and the leg portion of the base to preset angles. Along with this there is also flat feature, which allows you to click the Flat button once and the base will automatically adjust both the head and leg portions to a flat position.

Another feature added to the construction of the base is the inclusion of two USB ports on either side. This allows you to plug in your phone, tablet, or any device that charges with a USB cord for easy charging while you sleep. The L300 plugs directly into a standard outlet as a source of power, but has the option of using 9V batteries as a backup energy source.

I should note that during the review I used a Lucid mattress, however it is not required, and this base will work with any mattress that is compatible with adjustable bases.

  • Looking for a straightforward adjustable base: The L300 doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles, but has a solid construction and does a good job of comfortably adjusting to the desired position.
  • Simple setup: The basic construction of the L300 means that it’s easy to ship and pretty simple to assemble on your own.
  • Low on outlet space: The L300 plugs into the wall for its power source but makes up for occupying that space by offering a total of four USB ports to charge electronic devices from.
  • Great value: The L300 performs well at a low price when compared to other adjustable bases.
