These Silk & Snow mattresses share many things in common, but there are differences that may make one or the other a better choice for you. Keep in mind that if you want more in-depth information on either of these mattresses, you can always check out our full-length Silk & Snow mattress review and our Silk & Snow Hybrid mattress review.
Here are my recommendations for who might like each of these mattresses.
Who Should Buy Silk & Snow
- Folks who love a firmer feel should enjoy the Silk & Snow. It is quite firm and you don’t sink into it much at all.
- The Silk & Snow could be a great fit for many back sleepers, as it offers a good amount of support and the firmness could help some sleepers with back pain.
- The Silk & Snow tested better for edge support, so it may be better for folks who like to spread all the way out to the edge of their bed.

Who Should Buy Silk & Snow Hybrid
- Back and side sleepers should both be happy with the medium-firm feel of this bed.
- Hot sleepers may prefer the Silk & Snow Hybrid, as the coils will allow for more airflow in this bed, which helps to prevent hot air from being trapped.
- Couples easily disturbed by movement, like a partner getting in and out of bed in the middle of the night, should appreciate this bed’s good motion isolation.

Silk & Snow vs Silk & Snow Hybrid: Similarities and Differences
Now let’s take a look at the similarities and differences between these two mattresses.
Main Similarities
- These beds are from the same brand — Silk & Snow — so they come with the same policies. They both ship for free, have a 100-night sleep trial, and 15-year warranty.
- These mattresses incorporate some of the same materials in their construction.
- I would say both of these beds are pretty affordable. Before any discounts, the Silk & Snow costs $800 and the Hybrid costs $900 for a queen size.
Main Differences
- The Silk & Snow is an all-foam bed, while the Hybrid uses both foams and coils.
- These beds differ a lot in feel. The hybrid is more medium-firm and allows for some contouring, while the Silk & Snow is quite firm and keeps you feeling “on top” of the bed.
- The Silk & Snow Hybrid should sleep cooler than the all-foam Silk & Snow, as the coils will allow for more airflow within the bed.
Silk & Snow and Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress Feel Comparison
At Sleepopolis, we use a 1 to 10 firmness scale to evaluate how firm a bed feels, where 1 is the softest and 10 is the firmest. We use 6.5 as the standard for medium-firm, the most common mattress firmness. To determine the firmness, we have several team members try out the bed and give it a rating on the firmness scale. Then we average those together for a final score.
Silk & Snow
We rated the Silk & Snow as a 7.5 out of 10, meaning it is significantly firmer than average. I felt very little sinkage and really felt “on top” of this bed when testing it out. The foam doesn’t have much give, so I didn’t experience much pressure relief or cushioning. This is definitely a noticeably firm bed.
Silk & Snow Hybrid
We felt the Silk & Snow Hybrid was more of a true medium-firm, rating it as a 6.5 out of 10. It has the nice mix of support and pressure relief that is typical of medium-firm mattresses. I felt well-supported and didn’t sink all the way into the material, but still felt some cushioning from the upper comfort layers.
Comparing What it’s Like to Sleep on the Silk & Snow and the Silk & Snow Hybrid
Two main factors to consider when choosing a mattress are your primary sleeping position and your body type. Depending on these two factors, some mattresses may better support and/or cushion you than others.
Here are my takes on how different sleepers will experience the Silk & Snow and Silk & Snow Hybrid mattresses.
Silk & Snow
Back — I think the Silk & Snow can be a great match for back sleepers, particularly those who like a firmer feel. It works nicely to maintain a neutral spine.
Side — The Silk & Snow is a no-go for me when it comes to side sleeping. I found this bed far too firm and didn’t experience enough cushioning for my shoulder and hip while resting on my side.
Stomach — I think the Silk & Snow makes a good match for most stomach sleepers, as its firm feel helps to keep your hips lifted up and out of the structure. I didn’t feel my hips sinking into the material, which helps maintain a neutral spine.
Body Weight — The Silk & Snow can work for light to average weight sleepers, but I wouldn’t recommend it to heavy people, as I don’t think it will offer enough support for a heavier body weight.
Silk & Snow Hybrid
Back — The Silk & Snow Hybrid is a great pick for back sleepers. The medium-firm feel is just right for getting a mix of comfort and support. I felt well-supported on my back, but the cushioning upper layers provide a little extra lumbar support and plush comfort overall.
Side — I think the Silk & Snow Hybrid is okay for side sleepers — it could be a good pick for those who switch between their side and another position. The reason being I felt decently comfortable and felt a reasonable amount of pressure relief on my shoulder and hip, but ideally, I would like a slightly softer mattress for full-time side sleeping.
Stomach — I found the Silk & Snow Hybrid too soft for stomach sleeping. My hips were definitely sinking down into the material when I tested it, and I could feel my lower back bowing.
Body Weight — The Silk & Snow Hybrid should be a solid choice for people of all three weight groups, thanks to the supportive coils. It is important to note that while this model tested well for back sleepers over 250 pounds, we don’t think it’s the best choice for heavier side sleepers or stomach sleepers.

Comparing Silk & Snow and Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress Materials
Now let’s dive a little deeper into these mattresses, by literally taking a look inside them. The materials used in a mattress can tell you a lot about how it will feel and perform, so let’s take a gander.
Silk & Snow
Cover: The Silk & Snow has an anti-microbial cover, which can be removed to be washed.
Comfort Layer: The Silk & Snow has a 2-inch layer of gel memory foam.
Transition Layer: This 2-inch layer of foam serves as a transition between the plusher comfort layer and the firmer support layer.
Support Layer: The Silk & Snow’s support layer is a 6-inch section of sturdy foam.
Silk & Snow Hybrid
Cover: The Silk & Snow Hybrid has the same antimicrobial cover, but it is quilted with foam for added plushness.
Comfort Layer: The Hybrid has a 2-inch layer of high-density gel memory foam.
Support Layer: The support layer of the Hybrid is a section of 1,200 individually pocketed coils, which are zoned for support. This means the middle section of coils is firmer, to provide support around the hips and lumbar region.
Edge Support: The Hybrid has a foam encasement around the perimeter of the mattress to reinforce the edge.
