If you struggle to fall asleep due to feeling hot and clammy at night but love the contouring hug of a memory foam bed, the Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze is worth checking out. Memory foam is a material known to trap heat, so we were so excited to test this all-foam luxury mattress designed to keep hot sleepers cool. In this Tempur-Pedic mattress review I’ll go through everything we found — from the materials used in the bed to its pricing, performance, and reviews from our testers —  to help you determine if the ProBreeze is the right choice to replace your old mattress.

Our team of sleep experts here at Sleepopolis has spent countless hours reviewing a range of mattresses, which has given us all a good understanding of which beds work best for which types of sleepers. Furthermore, we have officially tested and reviewed more than 330 mattresses, helping over 60,000 people find the best mattresses for their homes.

Sleepopolis uses a hands-on testing methodology to determine the quality of every mattress we review. We also work with a network of health professionals to ensure our reviews are accurate from a medical perspective. This includes consulting our chief medical advisor, Dr. Raj Dasgupta, MD, FACO, FCCP, FAASM, who helps us to more accurately understand our findings as they relate to improving overall sleep health.

Overall, we found the TEMPUR-Pedic ProBreeze’s specialized cooling materials and design to be ideal for hot sleepers and back sleepers of all sizes. Additionally, it had impressive edge support and motion isolation, which makes it a good option for couples. With that said, let me walk you through everything you can expect from this memory foam mattress.

Tempur-Pedic is famous in the mattress world for creating deeply contouring and healing memory foam mattresses. One of their luxurious beds, the TEMPUR-ProBreeze, is is cool to the touch, in addition to providing the right amount of support for back sleepers and good motion isolation for couples. Check out our TEMPUR-ProBreeze video review to learn more.

What our tester says:

“I think this mattress could be a great choice for anyone who’s a light sleeper and shares their bed with a partner. It also provided the perfect mix of comfort and support on my side and my back.” – Dan Caffrey, managing editor and certified sleep science coach

Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze Mattress Overview

The Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze is made in the USA and has a four-layer foam design that measures 12 inches in height. Each layer of foam is designed to increase airflow and promote a cooler sleep experience without sacrificing the coziness associated with memory foam beds. As a luxury mattress brand, Tempur-Pedic exclusively uses CertiPUR-US-certified foams in the ProBreeze, making it a significantly less toxic choice than cheaper-made all-foam beds.

When we ran our cooling tests on the ProBreeze, our testers reported that they “didn’t detect any signs of it heating up” after lying on the bed. Thermal gun analysis further supported the conclusion that the mattress walks the walk in terms of cooling, offering a proper all-foam choice for hot sleepers.

In addition, the bed’s solid build provides quality edge support and a durable side to sit and rest on. The ProBreeze also “performed exceedingly well” for its motion isolation capabilities, according to testers, which further makes it a great choice for couples in search of a bed that can help prevent movements from disrupting one another during the night.

Ultimately the ProBreeze earned the highest scores from our testers in the cooling (4.5 out of 5), edge support (4.2), and motion isolation (5 out of 5) categories. However, we were less impressed with its responsiveness, where it scored only 2 out of 5 stars.

Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze Mattress Value

I determine a bed’s value by comparing its quality and price. Now, the ProBreeze is a higher-end luxury mattress, and the price reflects that ($4,599 for a queen). With that said, the mattress is made with high-quality, non-toxic foam materials, assembled in the USA, and incorporates a range of proprietary technologies from Tempur-Pedic. The company doesn’t appear to cut any corners when making this bed.

Most notably, the bed has impressive cooling abilities despite being an all-foam bed and not a hybrid model. It truly distinguishes itself in this category and may be worth the cost for hot sleepers seeking a memory foam bed as a long-term investment. Furthermore, we found it had great edge support in our testing, which potentially means long-term durability, so you likely won’t find it falling apart quickly.

The bed’s 10-year warranty and 90-night trial are slightly less generous than those of some of Tempur-Pedic’s luxury bed competitors. However, Tempur-Pedic is one of the biggest mattress names on the market, which may contribute to its elevated price.

In short, I wouldn’t suggest this bed for consumers on a budget, but the price tag could be worth it if you love memory foam but hate sleeping hot.

What Is the Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze Mattress Made Of?

The Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze features four strategic foam layers, with each layer supporting the others. Interestingly, one of Tempur-Pedic’s claims to fame is that it uses NASA-recognized foam components, which were originally designed for cushioning pilots during test flights and then adapted by the company for everyday use in beds. I’ll break down each layer from top to bottom to help you see what you’re getting from this bed.

ProBreeze

Cover – On top is Tempur-Pedic’s patented SmartClimate cover. The cover is machine-washable and removable, with a design intended to draw heat away from the body. Our testers described the cover as “cool to the touch” and “fairly thick” for a removable cover.

Transition Layer – This layer serves as an additional cooling foam layer, providing an extra barrier between your body’s heat and the thicker, comfort-focused foam layers at the bed’s foundation.

Comfort Layer This primary comfort layer is a 6-inch memory foam layer treated to prevent the buildup of body heat. It is a primary source of pressure relief in the bed, offering the soft, cradle-like feel most closely associated with Tempur material.

Support Layer At the base of the bed is a thick foam layer that provides broader durability and support for the bed’s foundation. While dense and durable, this layer is still made with foam that is designed to enhance ventilation and stimulate airflow.

Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze Firmness

Determining the correct mattress firmness for you is based on your unique sleeping patterns, body type, and personal preferences. As Chief Medical Advisor Dr. Raj Dasgupta puts it, “It’s crucial to strike a balance that supports your sleeping position while providing comfort.”

To help you find this balance, we have testers across a range of body types describe the firmness of each mattress on a 1 to 10 scale, with one being the softest and 10 being the firmest. For all our reviews, our sleep specialists try out each bed in various sleeping positions and describe their experiences to give readers a realistic understanding of what to expect.

The TEMPUR-ProBreeze is a 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale.
The TEMPUR-ProBreeze is a 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale.

We found the Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze to have a firmness level of 7 out of 10. This is a little firmer than the 6.5 out of 10 industry-standard medium firmness and a bit firmer than most all-foam beds. However, this makes the ProBreeze potentially more versatile than softer all-foam beds, allowing side sleepers and back sleepers to receive relief from the comfort-based foam layers while still enjoying firmer spinal alignment provided by the bed’s dense foundation.

Moreover, the ProBreeze could be a better choice for heavier side sleepers and back sleepers who may appreciate the pressure relief of memory foam but find themselves sinking too deeply into less firm foam beds, which could lead to experiencing a lack of spinal alignment support while sleeping.

Dan Caffrey, one of our certified sleep coaches, tried the ProBreeze on his side and back. “It was the perfect balance of comfort and support,” he reported. However, strict stomach sleepers, and especially heavier stomach sleepers, may want to opt for a hybrid, innerspring, or firmer mattress, with Dan also saying, “I wasn’t as comfortable on my stomach as I was on my back and side. My upper body felt supported, but my hips and knees were both dipping a little too much for me to maintain a neutral alignment.”

Considering all this, I would also say that combination sleepers and couples with differing sleep patterns (as long as they aren’t strict stomach sleepers) should appreciate the unique combination of firmness and softness you get with the ProBreeze.

Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze Performance

I judge a bed’s performance based on its ability to relieve pressure, support your joints or spine, deliver comfort, and other key factors. Our testers, Dan Caffrey, Asha Birjah, Marten Carlson, and Erin Chiles, evaluated the ProBreeze and rated it according to what we believe is most important for consumers to consider before choosing a bed.

Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze Pressure Relief Performance

The ProBreeze’s pressure relief received mixed reviews depending on the tester’s weight and their sleeping position when resting on the bed.

Our lightweight tester (under 130 pounds), Asha Birjah, didn’t feel that her spine and hips were adequately supported and aligned sleeping on her side, and she gave it a 3 out of 5 for the sleeping position. She found better quality support on her back than at those sensitive pressure points. “I felt immediate relief when I rolled from my side to my back across the entire spine,” Asha said. “It’s filling in at the lumbar and conforming to my body really well.” Asha scored the Pro-Breeze a 4 out of 5 for its pressure-relieving abilities for back sleepers.

Erin Chiles, our medium-weight tester (between 130 and 230 pounds), found the bed’s firmness prevented any comfortable sinkage while sleeping on her side. “My neck is uncomfortable because I would need a really high pillow to align with my body,” she said. “There is zero sinkage, causing misalignment in my upper half.” Moreover, while she did experience upper back support, she almost immediately experienced lower back pain when switching to her back on the bed. She gave the ProBreeze a 2 out of 5 for pressure relief in both positions, which may reflect the bed’s unusual firmness level — a far cry from the expected cushioning relief we associate with soft memory foam.

Our tester over 230 pounds, Marten Carlson, experienced great pressure relief at his hip when sleeping on his side but not as much in his shoulders, leading him to conclude that the bed fell short of offering the neutral spinal alignment he needed. However, he did feel better on his back. “My hips are sinking in just the right amount,” he said of the position. “I can feel the foam conforming to my lumbar area.” Overall, he gave the ProBreeze a 3 for side sleeping and 4 for back sleeping.

The final pressure relief scores came out to 3 out of 5 stars, which isn’t the best for a memory foam bed, but lighter and heavier back sleepers who love memory foam may appreciate the firmer feel of the ProBreeze and find what they need with it.

Below you can see a graphic illustrating how much pressure is being applied to some of our testers in different positions. They lie on a specialized mat, which then creates a pressure “map” showing areas of high stress. Blue indicates low pressure, where red indicates high pressure, with green, yellow, and orange in between.

Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze Motion Isolation

Motion isolation is the ability of a bed to absorb disruptive movements that can ripple across the mattress to wake up a sleeping partner. This is particularly important for couples who share a bed, especially if one person is a more restless sleeper than the other.

We first tested the ProBreeze’s motion isolation through the ripple test. After placing a large tub of water on the bed next to one of our testers, we observed how much the water sloshed around when someone moved around near it. Tester Dan Caffrey was thoroughly impressed. “This bed performed exceedingly well on this test,” he said. “I couldn’t get the liquid to move around, no matter how much I tried.” He also found the same quality results when he climbed in and out of the bed next to the water tub, which should catch the attention of couples who wake up or go to sleep at different times.

After replacing the water with a human being, Dan found even more impressive results. When his fellow tester moved around or got in and out of bed, he “didn’t feel it at all.” Dan went on to say, “I think this mattress could be a great choice for anyone who’s a light sleeper and shares their bed with a partner.”

Overall, our testers gave Tempur-Pedic’s ProBreeze a perfect 5 out of 5 for motion isolation. According to Dr. Raj Dasgupta, “Memory foam or hybrid mattresses often work well for couples because they offer comfort and reduce movement disturbance.” Considering this, I wasn’t surprised by the ProBreeze’s impressive score when it comes to keeping your bed’s surface quiet and calm.

 Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze Responsiveness

Responsiveness refers to the ability of a bed to return to its original shape when you remove weight from it. This correlates to how easy it is to move around on a bed, whether it be while watching television, changing sleep positions, or during intimate times with a partner.

Latex and innerspring beds tend to have greater bounce and responsiveness than all-foam beds that you can slowly sink into — and the ProBreeze didn’t defy convention here. We put the mattress through multiple tests to determine its responsiveness, and it ultimately received a 2 out of 5 score in this category. Below, we break down how we got to that number.

Switch test: This test was pretty straightforward. One of our testers lay on the mattress and changed sleeping positions, going from side to back to stomach. While moving around, they observed how it felt to change positions on the bed and the bounce or support they encountered while doing so. “It was pretty difficult to move between all of the sleeping positions,” our tester said. “This isn’t surprising given the slow-sinking feel of the foam, but I definitely felt a little stuck in this bed.” On the other hand, “I could see that being a positive if you’re a restless sleeper who’s trying to stay in one spot at night,” our tester added. In the end, she gave the ProBreeze a 2 for the switch test.

Responsiveness test: Tester Riley Otis placed a 53-pound kettlebell on the ProBreeze and then measured the bounce-back time of the mattress with a stopwatch to judge how quickly the bed returned to its original shape. The bed took precisely 2.69 seconds to do so, which is relatively slow compared to the average mattress time of 1.74 seconds. Riley gave the bed a responsiveness score of 1 out of 5 stars for this.

Sinkage test: Riley once again placed the kettlebell on the bed and used a ruler to measure how deep it sank into its surface. She measured 2.9 inches of sinkage, which is considered to be “moderate sinkage” for a memory foam bed and a sign that you can expect some quality cushioning on the ProBreeze.

Bounce test: Tester Carter Coughlin dropped a 25-pound steel ball from six feet above the bed and recorded its rebound at 8 inches. This is a pretty moderate bounce, considering “high bounce” is defined by a return flight of 12 inches or more by the ball. However, given that foam beds are known more for their contouring than their springiness, Carter found the bounce to be decent and gave the ProBreeze a rating of 3 out of 5 for the test.Based on the results of these tests, we wouldn’t consider the ProBreeze a very responsive bed. This could be an issue for combination sleepers who like to cycle through different sleep positions or anyone who likes the feel of a springier mattress.

Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze Cooling

A bed without proper ventilation and cooling features can cause sleepers to wake up feeling depleted rather than rested. If you struggle to fall asleep due to excess body heat, these tests should be an important factor in deciding if a mattress is right for you.

Thermal gun test: First, we used a thermal gun to record the ProBreeze’s temperature before and after someone rested on it to determine how well it dissipated body heat. Dan Caffrey recorded a starting temperature of 73.6 degrees and then laid down on the bed for five minutes. After getting up, he measured the bed’s temperature again, finding that it rose to 79 degrees.

Tempur ProBreeze Med Cooling Before rotated
Tempur ProBreeze Med Cooling After rotated

Generally, a 5- to 10-degree increase is considered “good cooling,” with 10 to 15 being considered decent and 15 or more considered bad; so the 5.4-degree increase found in the ProBreeze led Dan to give it 4.5 out of 5 stars. “Overall, this feels like a very cooling mattress to me, and I can see it being a great match for hot sleepers,” he said.

Cover test: Before lying down, Dan felt the cover of the ProBreeze to assess its natural feel. He said, “The cover on the ProBreeze felt cool to the touch,” which should stand out to hot sleepers who are considering this bed.

Feel test: Finally, Dan took note of whether he could feel the mattress heating up at any point during the thermal gun test. He concluded, “I didn’t detect any signs of it heating up while I was lying on it.”

Based on our tests, we’d say this mattress is an excellent all-foam choice for hot sleepers, as it wraps you in comfort rather than body heat. Overall, after calculating all our cooling tests, the ProBreeze received a 4.5 out of 5 rating.

Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze Edge Support

The quality of edge support in a mattress is determined by how sturdy the sides of the bed are, especially when you’re resting on them or getting in and out of the bed.

Edge support can also give you a feel for the longer-term durability of a bed. This oft-overlooked attribute of a mattress is something we take seriously with every bed we test. The ProBreeze received a quality rating of 4.2 out of 5 stars from our testers, which is even more impressive for an all-foam bed. I’ll break down how we determined that score below.

Tape measure test: For this one, we had three testers of varying weights rest on the bed’s edges. Erin Chiles conducted this test, measuring the sinkage she saw with each tester. With a lightweight tester, the edge sagged by 2.5 inches (5 stars), the average-weight tester by 4 inches (4 stars), and the heavier tester by 5.5 inches (3 stars). These are quality results, but heavier sleepers who require superior edge support may find the ProBreeze just isn’t what they’re looking for.

Seated test: This is where a tester sits down on the bed’s edges and gets back up with their feet firmly planted on the ground. With this test, we assess the difficulty required to get in or out of bed, including the amount of energy exerted, the extent to which hands are used, and the degree to which the edge sags during the process.

Dan Caffrey was our tester for this and was pleased with the bed’s performance, giving the ProBreeze a score of 4 out of 5 for the test. He was generally impressed with the bed’s edge support but had one reservation. “It’s easy to get on and off the mattress, and I feel well-supported while sitting on it,” Dan said. “However, the surface is pretty slippery, even with sheets, which is why I’m docking it one point on edge support. Overall, the edge is pretty strong, though.”

Full body test: This final test involves a tester sleeping right up on the bed’s edges to determine if the same support and comfort found in the middle of the bed extend to its far reaches. Dan Caffrey also conducted this test and was impressed enough to give the ProBreeze a score of 5 out of 5. After the test, he said, “Lying near the edge of the bed, the perimeter felt very strong. There was no collapse, and I didn’t feel like I was ever going to fall off in any sleeping position.”

Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze Mattress Performance for Couples

When seeking a bed for you and your partner, motion isolation, cooling, edge support, and responsiveness or bounce are among the most important factors to consider.

With a perfect 5 out of 5 for motion isolation, couples with different sleeping patterns and wake-up times could easily find the ProBreeze prevents them from disturbing each other at night.

Furthermore, hot sleepers who struggle in a bed with inadequate cooling know how much worse it can be when sharing a bed. With the cooling technology incorporated into the ProBreeze, which earned a 4.5 out of 5 stars in this category, you can expect body heat to dissipate quickly for an overall better night’s sleep.

With a 4.2 score for edge support, couples who spread out on the bed can also expect consistent support and comfort across the entire surface of the ProBreeze. However, the ProBreeze’s 2-out-of-5 responsiveness score was a bit disappointing. Unfortunately, this could translate to more difficulty moving around during sex on the bed when compared to beds with better bounce, which could be a deal-breaker for some.I would say this is a great bed for couples who appreciate the soft feel of memory foam. However, more sexually active couples may be frustrated with ProBreeze’s subpar responsiveness and should consider an alternative such as a hybrid mattress.

Other Performance Factors to Consider

Below are a few more factors to weigh when evaluating if a mattress is right for you.

Sex

Quality temperature regulation, edge support, and responsiveness are three mattress traits that help ensure a bed will work well for sex. Put simply, this is because you want to be able to move around easily on the bed, have the option to position yourself anywhere, and not be drenched in sweat while doing so. I gave the ProBreeze a 3.6 for sex by combining the scores of cooling (4.5), edge support (4.2), and responsiveness (2).

Noise

The ProBreeze has great motion isolation and a foam build, which is why I wasn’t surprised by our tester’s 5-out-of-5 score for the bed’s noise output (meaning very little). Our tester Erin Chiles moved around on the bed and explained her experience, saying, “I did not notice any noise with this mattress. Maybe a slight ‘thud’ when changing positions because it is so dense with memory foam.”

Base Compatibility

Erin Chiles also judged the ProBreeze when combined with an adjustable base, and unfortunately she wasn’t enthused. “This mattress does not work well with an adjustable base,” she said. “You need to have two people lying on it for it to work properly. The mattress is too firm for it to stay in position without a person lying on top.”

Tempur ProBreeze Adjustable Base

Durability

Tempur-Pedic offers a 10-year warranty on the ProBreeze and claims it should last you even longer. I believe this could potentially be the case based on all my research, depending on how you use the bed, of course.

Given that it’s manufactured in the USA with higher-grade materials, I believe this bed is built to last. Furthermore, quality edge support, as demonstrated by the ProBreeze during multiple tests, is an indicator of a bed’s structural integrity, durability, and longer potential lifespan.

I’d estimate that the ProBreeze could last you seven years to a decade or more.

Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze Sleeping Position and Body Weight

Your body type and sleeping position are two key considerations to make when choosing the proper bed for you. While firmer mattresses may make for a night of heavy dreaming for heavier sleepers, they may be a nightmare for some lighter sleepers.

Below, I’ll go through each weight group and sleeper type as it pertains to using the Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze.

Before we dive into our recommendations, though, we want to recognize that people come in all shapes and sizes, and people of every size deserve a mattress that works for their body type. We use the weight categories light, average, and heavy to more easily categorize sleepers based on how mattresses will perform for their body type, as most mattresses are designed for the group we call “average” (130 to 230 pounds).

As a general takeaway, lighter sleepers don’t require as much support as average-weight sleepers, and mattresses will tend to feel firmer to them. On the other hand, heavy sleepers tend to need more support than average-weight sleepers and tend to sink into the mattress more. As far as sleeping positions go, side sleepers tend to need a softer mattress, while stomach sleepers usually need a firmer, more supportive one. Back sleepers are usually somewhere in the middle.

Is the Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze a Good Mattress for Light Sleepers (Under 130 pounds)?

  • Light Back Sleepers – Lighter back sleepers should find relief with the ProBreeze;  our lighter tester reported she also found quality lumbar support when she tried it out on her back.
  • Light Side Sleepers – A lighter side sleeper may find it difficult to keep their hips and spine aligned due to the ProBreeze’s firmness, which can cause problematic or minimal sinkage.
  • Light Stomach Sleepers – Despite being an all-foam bed and not a hybrid mattress, the firmness of the ProBreeze may prevent problematic sinkage for lighter sleepers, helping them to keep their shoulders and hips comfortably in line.
Tempur ProBreeze Pressure Map Light Side
Asha, our lightweight tester, trying out the TEMPUR-ProBreeze during our pressure map test.

Is the Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze a Good Mattress for Average-Weight Sleepers (130–230 pounds)?

  • Average-Weight Back Sleepers – Average-weight back sleepers should experience good lumbar support but some may find the ProBreeze too firm for the relief they typically seek in a memory foam bed.
  • Average-Weight Side Sleepers – Average-weight side sleepers may not receive the cushioning they need due to minimal sinkage on the firm surface of the ProBreeze. However, this experience may vary depending on your weight.
  • Average-Weight Stomach Sleepers – Some average-weight stomach sleepers may find the ProBreeze a firm memory foam option, but stomach sleepers tend to prefer even firmer beds or beds made of materials other than foam.
Tempur ProBreeze Side
One of our average-weight testers trying out the ProBreeze during our pressure map test.

Is the Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze a Good Mattress for Heavy Sleepers (over 230 pounds)?

  • Heavy Back Sleepers – Heavier back sleepers who enjoy memory foam may find the ProBreeze to be a good choice. The firmness allows for safer sinkage while preserving spine alignment.
  • Heavy Side Sleepers – Heavier side sleepers will likely sink too much into the ProBreeze to experience sufficient posture support. Some may find the spinal support they need due to the mattress’s firmness, but most likely, they should look elsewhere.
  • Heavy Stomach Sleepers – Heavier stomach sleepers may find the ProBreeze more adequate than other memory foam beds. But most heavier stomach sleepers will likely need an even firmer bed that prevents any sinkage.

My Final Thoughts About the Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze Mattress

Let me recap some things that stood out to me about the Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze.

Who I Recommend the Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze For

  • I suggest this for hot sleepers who love the feel of memory foam.
  • Couples who share a bed and wake each other up during the night should appreciate this bed’s ability to isolate motion.
  • White glove delivery is included in your purchase of the ProBreeze, so unboxing and installation won’t be a headache.
  • The ProBreeze is slightly firmer than some similar all-foam beds, making it a great choice for back sleepers.

Who I Don’t Recommend the Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze For

  • Couples with an active sexual life may find moving around on the ProBreeze more difficult than other mattresses due to subpar responsiveness.
  • I wouldn’t suggest this mattress to shoppers on a tight budget.

Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze vs. Saatva Contour5

Saatva’s Contour5 is another all-foam luxury mattress that focuses on cooling, with our testers giving it the same 4.5 out of 5 score as the ProBreeze on its ability to do so. Unlike the ProBreeze, the Contour5 offers multiple firmness options, including medium-firm (6.5/10) and firm (8/10), and features a more generous lifetime warranty and a 365-night trial. The ProBreeze had more impressive motion isolation (5/5), but the Contour5 generally had similar or better test scores than the ProBreeze.

  • Price: Both luxury mattresses are fairly expensive, with the Saatva Contour5 being a little more affordable. The ProBreeze is $1,600 more expensive than the Contour5 for a queen-size bed and $1,700 more for a king-size bed.
  • Sleeping position: Both mattresses are great for back sleepers, but Contour5’s multiple firmness options may make it more accessible to a wider range of sleeper types.
  • Cooling: Both mattresses scored a 4.5 out of 5 for cooling, making them both ideal for hot sleepers seeking a luxury all-foam bed.
  • Body weight: Contour5’s firmer 8/10 firmness option may make the mattress a better choice for heavier sleepers.

Other Models from Tempur-Pedic

Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze vs Tempur-Pedic LuxeBreeze

The ProBreeze and LuxeBreeze are both luxury all-foam beds by Tempur-Pedic that specialize in offering superior cooling. The ProBreeze is advertised as “5 degrees cooler” than other Tempur-Pedic mattresses, with the LuxeBreeze claiming to have even more advanced cooling technology built into it and an average “10-degree cooler” temperature than other Tempur-Pedic mattresses.

Furthermore, the LuxeBreeze is available in a soft and firm option, unlike the ProBreeze. While the LuxeBreeze has some additional impressive features and stands an inch taller than the ProBreeze, the mattress is more expensive.

  • Price: The LuxeBreeze is $1,000 more expensive than the ProBreeze for a queen-size bed.
  • Sleeping position: Both mattresses are great for back sleepers, but LuxeBreeze’s multiple firmness options may make it a memory foam option that works for stomach sleepers as well.
  • Cooling: Both mattresses offer exceptional cooling. However, the LuxeBreeze likely offers better cooling due to the extra features in its slightly taller design.
  • Body weight: The LuxeBreeze is taller and offers a firmer option than the ProBreeze, making it a potentially better choice for heavier sleepers.

Our Review Process

At Sleepopolis, our team of certified sleep science coaches personally test each mattress. We start by unboxing the mattress to figure out how difficult (or easy) it is to get the mattress from the box to the bed. Then, we spend time lying on the bed in different positions, taking time to assess it on our backs, stomachs, and sides. Next, we perform our Sleepopolis tests, using specialized tools to measure qualities like motion transfer, bounce, and pressure relief. Our last step is to open up the mattress and take a look at each layer. These steps allow us to give our final verdict on the mattress.
