Read on to learn more about Drew’s sleep struggles, why the star teamed up with Rest, and how she winds down before bed.

What Did Drew Barrymore Say About Her Sleep Struggles?

Drew told People Magazine that she’s always been a bit of a restless sleeper, and that sleep didn’t just feel challenging to Drew; it sometimes felt “impossible.” However Drew’s sleep struggles have evolved as she’s gotten older, sharing that “More recently, [she’s] become a bit of a hot sleeper…which really affects how well [she] sleep[s] and whether [she] can make it throughout the night without waking up.” (1)

Why Did Drew Team Up With Rest?

Drew claims that Rest’s sheets have really helped her as a hot sleeper, calling the cooling features of the sheets “a game changer.” The star elaborated saying “[she’s] always preferred sleeping in a cooler room, but using cooling bedding has made [her] sleep environment absolutely perfect. It sets [her] up to achieve deeper and more restful sleep.” (1)

Additionally, Drew shared that her daughters, Olive and Frankie loved the Evercool comforter so much that they would steal Drew’s comforter and fight over it, so the star wound up getting the girls their own sets of cooling sheets and comforters. (1)

What Is Drew Barrymore’s Nighttime Routine?

When it comes to nighttime routines — celebrities really are just like the rest of us. Drew shared with People that she tries to read a bit before she goes to bed, but if she doesn’t have the strength to read a few pages she’ll say goodnight to her cats and dog before turning out the lights.

As it turns out, opting to read before bed instead of scrolling on your phone is a pretty good strategy. Sleepopolis’s Dr. Shelby Harris even recommends reading in dim light before going to bed as a good way to help yourself fall asleep, saying: “Your nighttime routine can be as specific or as general as you want it to be, but make sure to incorporate activities that promote relaxation and sleep such as reading in dim light, listening to a podcast, deep breathing, or meditation.”

Drew goes on to emphasize how important sleep is, not just to her, but to everybody, saying “Quality sleep is essential. It impacts us mentally and physically, our well-being, and our overall health. It affects how we show up in the world.” (1
