We were skeptical of buying a mattress on line but it could not have gone any smoother. Anthony answered all of our questions during our many phone conversations. Delivery was prompt and went without a hitch. Best of all the mattress is so comfortable! I haven't had such a good night sleep in years. Highly recommend this.

Patty, Saatva customerEmma Hybrid Comfort vs Saatva: Similarities and Differences
These two mattresses are both firmer than average mattresses, and therefore have a lot of similarities. Yet there are some key differences that may set them apart, such as Saatva’s assistance with delivery and set up. Here’s a breakdown of the main similarities and differences.
Main Similarities
- Both mattresses should be comfortable for back and stomach sleepers. (Though keep in mind the Plush and Firm version of the Saatva expand its versatility.)
- Both mattresses have good cooling, and should be comfortable for hot sleepers.
- Both mattresses are firmer than the industry standard for a medium-firm mattress.
Main Differences
- Emma is a bed-in-a-box mattress that arrives on your doorstep, while Saatva is never boxed and comes with white glove delivery.
- Saatva offers two heights, 11.5 inches or 14.5 inches, while Emma is only offered in the 13-inch model.
- Saatva offers three different firmness options: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, and Firm. The Emma Hybrid Comfort comes in just one firmness level.
Emma Hybrid Comfort and Saatva Mattress Feel Comparison
Now let’s talk about the firmness and feel of each bed. Here at Sleepopolis, we rate firmness on a scale from 1 to 10, where 1 is the softest and 10 is the firmest. We use 6.5 as the standard for medium-firm, the most common and versatile mattress firmness. I’ll also go over some other feel factors, like responsiveness and pressure relief.
Emma Hybrid Comfort
We rated the Emma Hybrid Comfort as a 7.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale, which sets it well above the standard for a medium-firm mattress (6.5). With a very firm feel, the Emma Hybrid Comfort does not provide much sinkage — rather, the sleeper will feel more “on top” of the bed. There is great pressure relief around the back, and the mattress should be comfortable for most back and stomach sleepers. This mattress would not be recommended for side sleepers, however, due to the firmness and lack of pressure relief around the shoulders and hips.
The Emma Hybrid Comfort has great cooling, great motion isolation, and good edge support. These qualities make it a great option for couples, though it is lacking in bounce and there is some sinkage when sitting along the edge. Even so, it is a responsive mattress that is easy to move around on.
Saatva
We rated the Luxury Firm Saatva Classic as a 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale, meaning it is just firmer than average. The bed has a firm feel that works well for back and stomach sleepers, but the Euro top still provides a comfortable feel. The Saatva is also very bouncy and responsive, making it easy to move around on. Keep in mind this is the middle firmness option — the Plush Soft and Firm versions of the Saatva feel softer and firmer, respectively.
The Saatva has great edge support, good cooling, and lots of bounce. We didn’t experience any sinkage along the edges of the mattress, even when sitting, so it could also be a great pick for couples.
Comparing What it’s Like to Sleep on the Emma Hybrid Comfort and the Saatva
Your body will create pressure on a mattress in different ways, depending on your weight and preferred sleeping position. Here we will compare how comfortable different types of sleepers are likely to feel on each mattress.
Emma Hybrid Comfort
Back — This mattress is good for light and average weight back sleepers who want a firmer feel, and should be very comfortable for heavy back sleepers.
Side — I do not recommend this mattress for side sleepers of any weight, as it will likely feel too firm and cause shoulder and hip pain.
Stomach — This mattress should be comfortable for all stomach sleepers, as it provides sturdy support for the hips.
Body Weight — The Emma Hybrid Comfort is very firm and would likely feel firmer to sleepers weighing less than 130 pounds. It may feel softer to sleepers heavier than 250 pounds. But overall, it can work for people of all weight groups, depending on their primary sleeping position.
Saatva
Back — This mattress should feel great for back sleepers of all weights, as it provides a pleasant mix of comfort and support.
Side — This mattress may be too firm for side sleepers of any weight, causing shoulder and hip pain. However, the Plush Soft model may be comfortable and effectively cushion pressure points. Heavy side sleepers should seek a better option, such as one of the mattresses in our guide to the best mattresses for heavy people.
Stomach — Light and average weight stomach sleepers should be comfortable with this Luxury Firm model or the Firm model, but heavy stomach sleepers will want a mattress with more support.
Body Weight — The Saatva is firm and would likely feel firmer to sleepers weighing less than 130 pounds. It may feel softer to sleepers heavier than 250 pounds, which may affect the support and comfort experienced by those sleepers. All in all though, it is supportive enough to work for people of all weight groups, depending on their primary sleeping position.

Now I’ll break down the construction of each mattress layer by layer, but I’d encourage you to also check out our full Emma Hybrid Comfort mattress review and Saatva mattress review if you want to learn even more about either of these mattresses.
Emma Hybrid Comfort
Cover: A lightweight, moisture-wicking fabric covers this mattress with a soft feel.
Comfort Layer: The top layers are made from a combination of cooling foam and patented foam layers. These layers should help to evenly distribute pressure and improve motion isolation.
Transition Layer: The transition layer is made of a durable HRX foam. This high-density layer should provide extra support and a smooth transition between the foams and coils.
Base: The base support layer is made of individually wrapped coils to enhance airflow and provide support. The coils are split into seven ergonomic zones, intended to provide more support at key parts of the body.
Saatva
Cover: The Saatva is wrapped in an organic cotton cover that is breathable and soft to the touch.
Comfort Layer: The upper comfort layer consists of a 3-inch Euro pillow top to add some cushioning and pressure relief.
Zoned Support Layer: Between the coil layers and the Euro top is a thin strip of memory foam placed in the middle of the bed to add some pressure relief at the hips and lumbar region.
Support Layer: This layer consists of individually wrapped, pocketed coils for enhanced bounce, airflow, and support.
Base: The base layer is made of steel coils for even more bounce. This coil layer is also wrapped in a high-density foam to provide additional edge support.

Comparing Emma and Saatva Customer Service
Here we will rate the customer service offered by each company. Our rating scale is as follows: Stellar, Great, Satisfactory, or Poor. Our ratings are based on our own experience with the customer service team of each company.
Emma Sleepopolis Customer Service Rating
Great: I gave Emma a satisfactory rating because they offer thorough ways to contact them, including phone, email, and chat service. Their phone support is available Monday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Additionally, their chat service allows you to speak with a representative.
Saatva Sleepopolis Customer Service Rating
Stellar: Saatva’s customer service is stellar. There is a readily available ‘Contact Us’ dropdown at the top of their website with an email and phone number. On the left side is a very large chat box that reiterates the phone number and offers prompts for a conversation. While this chat is led by a bot, it also offers to speak to a real person. Additionally, I had to factor in Saatva’s free white glove delivery, which is an above-and-beyond service.
