When testing out a mattress, the feel is probably the first thing you’ll notice. In this section, I’ll go over how these mattresses perform in firmness, pressure relief, motion isolation, responsiveness, cooling, and edge support.
Here at Sleepopolis, we rate firmness on a scale from 1 to 10, where 1 is the softest and 10 is the firmest. We use 6.5 as the standard for a medium-firm feel and assess the firmness and feel of a bed by lying on it in different positions.
Puffy Cloud
The Puffy Cloud gets a 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale, meaning it is a bit softer than average. Upon initially laying down, you should notice the mattress feels super soft, then will likely soon notice it has great sinkage as you lie on it. This is perfect for anyone who prefers to feel like they’re in the bed instead of on the bed.
The perfect mattress for you won’t leave you in pain in the morning. The Puffy Cloud provides great pressure relief for back sleepers who usually experience a lot of pain in the back, hips, or shoulder area.
Motion transfer is how much motion you’ll feel when there’s someone else sleeping in the bed with you. For the Puffy Cloud, we found there was very minimal motion transfer, making it a good choice for people who sleep with a partner or pet and don’t want to be disturbed by their movement.
The Puffy Cloud is not a particularly bouncy or responsive bed. The best mattresses for sex and combination sleepers will be ones with strong responsiveness. The most responsive mattresses will usually be innerspring beds.
It’s made with a layer of cooling gel, which helps it sleep cool for a bed made with memory foam, which tends to trap heat. However, people who tend to sleep extra hot may need a bed with a coil layer to allow even more airflow.
The edge support on the Puffy Cloud mattress is pretty average. The sides of the mattress may tend to sag a bit and not be as supportive as the middle, which can make the bed feel smaller.
Leesa
The Leesa Original mattress ranks at 5.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale, which makes it a soft mattress. This mattress is similar in feel to the Puffy Cloud, but the Leesa will have more of a doughy, cushiony feel. Sleepers who suffer from back pain should feel some instant pressure relief, especially if they are sleeping on their back.
The Leesa isn’t quite as motion-isolating as the Puffy Cloud. With the Leesa, you’ll likely feel some movement from your partner or pet moving about in the night.
The Leesa is definitely responsive enough for sex and for combination sleepers, which is usually hard to achieve with an all-foam mattress. But, Leesa has a good amount of bounciness, without being too much.
The Leesa is a good option for hot sleepers due to its cooling features. For a foam mattress, which generally tends to trap heat, this is a fairly breathable option.
Comparing What it’s Like to Sleep on the Puffy Cloud and the Leesa
Your preferred sleeping position and body weight are the two most important factors in determining if a mattress is right for you. A mattress can feel very different depending on these variables.
Puffy Cloud
Back — This position is likely the most comfortable way to sleep on the Puffy Cloud. It provides both spinal support and pressure relief at the lower back, hips, and shoulders.
Side — Side sleepers should find they get nice sinkage on the Puffy Cloud and get some nice pressure relief from the Gel Cloud comfort layer.
Stomach — This mattress isn’t quite firm enough for stomach sleepers, who may find they develop back pain as their hips sink in and their spine is out of alignment.
Body Weight — We generally wouldn’t recommend this bed for anyone weighing over 250 pounds. It doesn’t have enough support to prevent these sleepers from sinking too far into the bed. Leesa
Back — Back sleepers should really like this bed. Most should find they have plenty of pressure relief and great spinal alignment.
Side — Side sleepers weighing less than 130 pounds may find this mattress too firm to properly relieve shoulder pressure. This mattress could work for average weight sleepers (between 130 and 250 pounds), but they may find a bit of pressure building at the shoulder and hips.
Stomach — Lightweight sleepers should be okay sleeping on their stomach, but average weight sleepers may find the bed is too soft to support their hips and keep their spine aligned.
Body Weight — Like the Puffy Cloud, we don’t recommend this mattress for heavyweight sleepers. It doesn’t have the durability or lift these sleepers will need to be properly supported.

Comfort Layer– This layer is two layers in one. It’s a 2-inch layer of breathable foam on top of a 2-inch layer of memory foam. The breathable layer adds responsiveness to the mattress and helps with cooling, both of which can get trapped in a memory foam mattress. The memory foam acts as a pain and pressure-reliever while also providing some body contouring.
Foundation Layer– The mattress finishes with a 6-inch supportive foam layer. This support layer makes this mattress super durable.

Stellar: I found Puffy’s customer service to be stellar. I always like to start by testing out a company’s customer service chat line. Immediately, I was connected with a real Puffy representative — not a robot. I usually like to ask “Do you offer free shipping?” as the standard question.
My Puffy representative responded quickly and politely and provided accurate information. I extended our conversation further by asking “Does this extend to Hawaii and Alaska?” Again, I got a clear and detailed answer in less than a minute.
In addition to its chat feature, Puffy also offers customer support via telephone and email. Their contact page has a message box for easy email sending. Their FAQ page is extremely extensive and covers almost any question you may have. There are even separate pages just for financing and tracking your order.
Leesa Sleepopolis Customer Service Rating
Stellar: I also rated Leesa’s customer service as stellar. Like usual, I first tried out Leesa’s chat feature. It gave me the option to choose if I wanted to talk to a live person or if I just had a general question. I chose to talk to a real person and was connected to a Leesa representative within minutes.
I began by asking “Do you offer free shipping?” My representative responded promptly and provided accurate information about their shipping policy. She even gave me additional details about their white glove service fee. I followed up with a question about Hawaii and Alaska shipping and again was given a speedy and polite response.
