The DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid is the brand’s most premium offering, designed to deliver the most support and cooling among all its beds. It’s a big claim, and the Sleepopolis team of mattress testers did some fact-checking to see whether it delivers.

Collectively, we’ve reviewed over 330 mattresses and helped over 60,000 people find a great bed for their needs, preferences, and budget. For this review, we also tagged in our chief medical product tester, Dr. Joe Tedesco, for insights on its performance in certain categories. Our chief medical advisor, Dr. Raj Dasgupta, MD, FACP, FCCP, FAASM, also shared his expertise.

We put the Ultra Hybrid through a battery of tests designed to assess everything from firmness and edge support to response and cooling prowess. After careful consideration, we think this slightly firmer-than-average mattress should accommodate most back sleepers and some side sleepers quite nicely. The Ultra Hybrid earned its highest performance in pressure relief, and motion isolation wasn’t far behind.

Our DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid Mattress Review Summarized

The DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid is a luxury hybrid mattress that combines thick foam layers and coils. It has a firmer-than-average feel, with the signature slow-moving feel of memory foam in the Euro top. It does a good job of isolating motion and relieving pressure, but it came up a little short in cooling and edge support.

Our Review Process

At Sleepopolis, our team of Certified Sleep Science Coaches personally test each mattress. We start by unboxing the mattress to figure out how difficult (or easy) it is to get the mattress from the box to the bed. Then, we spend time lying on the bed in different positions, taking time to assess it on our backs, stomachs, and sides. Next, we perform our Sleepopolis tests, using specialized tools to measure qualities like motion transfer, bounce, and pressure relief. Our last step is to open up the mattress and take a look at each layer. These steps allow us to give our final verdict on the mattress.

DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid Mattress Overview

The DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid is a seven-layer bed-in-a-box that combines a cooling, cushioning Euro top with contouring memory foam and a zoned coil layer. It earned at least 4 out of 5 for motion isolation and pressure relief, largely thanks to its stellar weight distribution, courtesy of the memory foam. We think many back sleepers and side sleepers who prefer a firmer bed will fare well here. While DreamCloud calls it a medium-soft mattress, we found it quite firm.

The DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid Mattress
The DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid Mattress

On the downside, this DreamCloud mattress only earned average scores in cooling and responsiveness. That’s despite the cooling Euro top and individually wrapped coils, which should make it more breathable. Because of the somewhat lackluster performance on those two performance tests, hot sleepers and combination sleepers may find the bed doesn’t deliver on the features they need for quality sleep.

We’d also advise adults with mobility issues to look elsewhere. While the edge support isn’t terrible, it’s not as stable as we’d like, especially when we tested it in a seated position.

Who I Recommend the DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid For

  • Back sleepers who like a firmer, more lifted feel should be very happy on the Ultra Hybrid. The Euro pillow top and memory foam layer cushion nicely without sacrificing spinal alignment, so sleepers get ample pressure relief.
  • By the same token, many side sleepers should find the firmer-than-average hybrid has comfortable pressure relief and just enough contouring for the hips and shoulders.
  • Couples looking for reasonable motion isolation will appreciate the bed’s ability to limit the transfer of movement.

Who I Don’t Recommend the DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid For

  • Combination sleepers in search of a springy feel won’t find it in this hybrid design. The quilted cover and uppermost foam layers mean the Ultra Hybrid responds very slowly, which doesn’t allow for much ease of movement.
  • Hot sleepers may find the cooling cover and air-promoting coil layer aren’t enough to combat heat retention.
  • Adults with mobility issues who benefit from strong, stable edges to aid in getting in and out of bed should find a mattress that earned a higher score.

DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid Value

To make a judgment call on mattress value, we consider its price tag in relation to the quality of its materials and its overall performance. The Ultra Hybrid is DreamCloud’s top-of-the-line model, and a queen-sized mattress has a price point of about $2,000. That puts it close to premium mattress territory.

On the other hand, the hybrid does include a number of upgrades, from the Euro top and phase change material to the zoned support layer. We also like that this bed is free of fiberglass and certified by CertiPUR-US, which indicates it meets high standards for content, emissions, and durability. Both the generous 365-night sleep trial and the lifetime warranty add value as well.

What Is the DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid Made Of?

Tag on the Side of the DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid Mattress
The corner of the DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid mattress.

The DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid is compressed, rolled, and stuffed in a box, so expect some off-gassing in the first day or two. According to DreamCloud, the bed can take up to 72 hours to fully expand, but it’s ready to sleep on in just a few hours.

The hybrid model stands a full 15 inches, which makes it quite tall. For comparison, most mattresses are 12 inches. The extra height is worth noting. Depending on your frame and foundation, the taller mattress height could make it harder to climb into bed, and it may make finding the best sheets for your new bed a tad more difficult.

Let’s take a closer look at the layers in the DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid.

Cover – The quilted cover features scalloped stitching. It’s a dramatic navy blue and includes a stitched-in memory foam layer.

Comfort Layer This thick layer is also made with memory foam. We found it’s slightly cool to the touch and responds very slowly to pressure.

Transition Layer – A slightly thinner layer of blue support foam has a quicker response time. According to DreamCloud, this targeted layer has five layers for better weight distribution and spinal support.

Support Layer The primary support comes from the coil layer, which is composed of 8-inch coils that are individually wrapped for tailored support.

Stabilizing Layer – A thin but dense foam layer here adds structure to the layers above.

DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid Mattress Firmness

A mattress firmness rating is best considered a guideline, since personal details like body weight and sleep style ultimately affect firmness level perceptions. When our in-house tester assessed the DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid, she found it firmer than advertised and rated it 7 out of 10. That’s slightly above the industry standard of medium-firm, or 6.5 out of 10.

Casper 2020 Firmness

On her back, our tester reported comfortable cushioning and an appropriate amount of sinkage. But she found that her hips sank a little more than the rest of her body. While it didn’t create any strain or tension for her, it could be a red flag if you already have back pain.

The quilted top delivered just enough softness when our tester moved to her side. Her hips and shoulders were comfortably nestled into what she described as padded pockets, but again, her hips sank enough to prompt a slight pinch in her lower back.

The Ultra Hybrid worked well for our lightweight tester when she assessed it on her stomach. But we don’t think that will be the story for average and heavyweight testers. “Their hips would likely drop too far into the quilted top and foam layers, which could easily lead to lower-back discomfort,” she said.

DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid Mattress Performance

Beyond how a mattress feels when you lie down, it’s worth considering how it performs. By evaluating pressure relief, motion isolation, cooling, and other categories, we can make specific recommendations related to sleep style and body position.

DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid Pressure Relief Performance

Some sleep positions put more pressure on the body, and mattress materials can help alleviate or exacerbate it. To see how individual mattresses perform, we use a specialized mat that highlights where pressure is building. Low-pressure areas are shown in blue and green, while high-pressure spots are yellow and red.

The DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid has a generous amount of memory foam, so we had high expectations. According to Dr. Dasgupta, this material can offer the best pressure point relief, especially when it’s paired with a medium-soft to medium-firm feel.

Since body weight plays a role in pressure relief as well, we recruited three testers in different weight classes to test the mattress on their backs and sides. Overall, the Ultra Hybrid earned a score of 4.1 out of 5. That’s a little better than the average mattress we test.

Our lightweight tester described the Ultra Hybrid as “genuinely comfortable” when she tested it on her back. While she experienced a little dipping in the hips — what she described as the classic “butt hug” — it didn’t translate into pressure in her lower back. Her PSI in this position was 8.48, compared to the average of 12.43, which earned the bed a 4.5 out of 5. “For most back sleepers, this feels really plush and soothing from head to toe,” said our tester.

Side sleeping was comfortable for her as well. “The memory foam layers give my hips and shoulders enough room to settle in and get lightly contoured,” she said, but she did notice little “pockets” where her body sank into the mattress. While that didn’t lead to any sharp pressure, she still noticed a little tension in her lower back. Still, her PSI was a low 9.77 compared to the average of 14.58. Our tester gave the Ultra Hybrid 4 out of 5 based on her personal experience.

Our average-weight tester, Sosha Lewis, had a similar experience on her back and side. Her back score was 4.5 based on a PSI of 8.95 and how well the foam contoured and filled in her lumbar. “I feel pretty weightless and aligned when I am on my back,” she said.

On her side, Sosha gave the mattress 4 out of 5. That was largely due to what she described as indifference: “As a side sleeper, I wouldn’t choose this bed in my home, but I wouldn’t be upset about sleeping on it somewhere else for a few nights.” She noted that her hip was sinking in slightly more than she would have liked, but the contouring around her hip and shoulder was good. Her PSI was low in this position as well, at 9.89.

Caine Wilkes, our heavyweight tester, didn’t find the Ultra Hybrid quite as pressure-relieving. On his back, he noted that his hips sank a little farther than the rest of his body. “I’m not getting as much support in my lower back as I’d like,” he said, giving the mattress 3.5. His PSI of 10.17 was lower than the average, but not by much.

Unlike our light and average-weight testers, Caine preferred the DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid on his side. That’s in spite of what he called “awkward sinking” around his shoulder. Otherwise, he reported feeling very supported, especially around his hips. “I just find this bed is a bit plusher than I would like,” he added. His PSI was a touch lower than the average at 13.65, and Caine gave the bed a score of 4 in this position.

We asked Dr. Joe Tedesco, our chief medical product tester, to weigh in on the Ultra Hybrid’s pressure relief as well. He assessed it on his back, side, and stomach and found it offered the most relief for side sleeping. “Everything feels really straight and aligned,” he said, reporting no pressure on his hips, ribs, neck, or shoulders. That earned 4.5 out of 5.

He described a neutral spine in the back sleeping position and pointed out the slow sink. “I can’t call it true contouring, but you can tell there’s a memory foam top that’s working to hold you in place,” he said, giving the mattress 4 out of 5.

Dr. Tedesco says he was equally comfortable on his stomach. “My pelvis isn’t sinking, my spine feels straight,” he said, but he did mention sinking in his knees. Overall, he gave the Ultra Hybrid a strong 4 out of 5 for pressure relief in the prone position.

DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid Motion Isolation

If you share your bed with a partner or pet, strong motion isolation can be the difference between peaceful nights and rude awakenings. A mattress that isolates motion keeps movements from rippling across the bed, so you aren’t disturbed when your partner rolls over or the dog jumps onto the bed. That’s why Dr. Dasgupta says a mattress with good motion isolation “offers undisturbed sleep and comfort for couples.” The DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid earned one of its highest scores in this category: 4 out of 5.

Ripple Test: Our tester placed a large basin of water on the bed, then got in and out on the other side and rolled around to see how the water rippled. Climbing on and off the bed didn’t do much to the water, but changing positions meant noticeable movement. While our tester noted that it wasn’t aggressive and comparable to the ripples made by a passing boat on a lake, the water was definitely moving. We gave the bed 4 out of 5 for both tests.

Partner Test: In this test, one tester lay on the bed while another moved around on the other side. Movements were somewhat noticeable as the tester got on and off the bed, and the mattress adjusted to her weight. When she moved around, our tester was aware of it but didn’t feel any physical effects. That earned another 4 out of 5.

DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid Responsiveness

Responsiveness describes how quickly a mattress returns to its original shape after the release of pressure. While materials like latex are known for their quick response, memory foam is not. It is slow-moving and takes time to reshape itself. If you’re a combination sleeper, that can make it really hard to easily change positions. The DreamCloud earned 3.5 out of 5 in this category, which is lower than average. Even though it has coils at its base, the thick layers of foam up top kept it from feeling very responsive. It’s not the best fit if you prefer a springy bed.

Switch test: Our in-house tester performed a switch test, which involves moving between different positions and assessing how easy or hard it is. The foam on top responded quite slowly, and our tester reported that changing positions felt “a little like wading through something thick.” While she could move around when she really tried, it wasn’t an effortless roll. It earned a score of 3.5 for this test.

Sinkage test: We placed a 53-pound kettlebell on the bed and used a ruler to measure how far the layers sank. At 4.5 inches, this is well over our 3.7-inch average. It means you can expect less responsiveness and more contouring (you will feel more “in” the bed than “on” it).

Bounce test: For our final test, we dropped a 25-pound ball from a height of 6 feet onto the mattress surface. We used a yardstick on the wall to measure how high the ball bounced. It soared 17 inches, just over the 16.3-inch average. That’s indicative of the coils, but it doesn’t mean the Ultra Hybrid has a noticeably springy feel.

DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid Cooling

Body temperature naturally fluctuates as part of the sleep cycle, and a mattress shouldn’t impede that process. Unfortunately, memory foam has a reputation for trapping heat because it’s such a dense material. On the other hand, Dr. Dasgupta points out that hybrids offer more airflow because the coil system promotes air circulation, leading to a cooler sleeping experience.” The DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid is made with both memory foam and coils, along with phase change material in the top layer. Still, it earned only 3.5 out of 5 in this category.

Our in-house tester used a thermal gun to test the mattress temperature before and after resting on it for five minutes. In that time, it increased from 67.9 to 76.9 degrees, which is moderate (and not too bad for a thick memory foam top).

Cover test: Despite the cooling fibers woven into the cover, our tester didn’t notice a cool-to-the-touch feeling when she assessed it by hand.

Feel test: Our tester was a little overheated when she lay down, and the bed didn’t do much to regulate her temperature right away. On the other hand, she noted that it wasn’t the bed itself that made her feel warm, and she did cool down over time.

While the Ultra Hybrid didn’t perform terribly in this category, people who consistently overheat at night may still want to explore our picks of the best cooling mattresses for hot sleepers.

DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid Edge Support

Edge support refers to the strength along the sides or, in some cases, the full perimeter of a mattress. Couples benefit from strong edges because it means more room to spread out. Adults with mobility issues and heavier sleepers should also prioritize good edge support. Plus, Dr. Dasgupta notes that it’s a sign of durability. While hybrid mattresses with coil layers tend to outperform all-foam models, the Ultra Hybrid earned just 3.7 out of 5 based on several tests.

Seated test: Our tester began assessing edge support by sitting on the side of the bed. She clocked noticeable drooping in the layers below here, along with what she called “a bit of that ‘slip off the side’ feeling at first.” After the bed settled, she said it was steady enough, though not so stable that she’d want to spend much time there.

Back sleeping full body edge support test on the DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid Mattress

Full body test: Our tester lay down close to the side of the mattress to see whether this redistribution of body weight made any difference. It was a little more secure, but no matter how our tester positioned herself, she noticed a pretty visible dip in the hip area. “I’m not worried about sliding off the edge, but the support definitely changes depending on whether I’m lying near the side or closer to the middle,” she added.

Weighted plate test: This objective test involved stacking three weighted plates, each representing different sleeper weight classes, on the side of the bed. Then, we measure the depth of sinkage. From lightest to heaviest, the plates sank 3, 4 and 6.5 inches. That aligns with our tester’s experience and indicates that edge support isn’t the best on the DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid.

DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid Mattress Performance for Couples

The best mattresses for couples tend to isolate motion well, respond quickly, and stay cool. The DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid earned a respectable 4 out of 5 for motion isolation but just 3.5 for both responsiveness and cooling. That likely makes it a decent but not exceptional mattress for couples.

Other Performance Factors to Consider

If the DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid sounds like it might meet your needs, here’s what else to know about the bed’s performance.

Sex

The best mattresses for sex earn high scores in performance categories like response, edge support, and noise. True to form, the DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid earned a good but not great 4 out of 5. It has a slightly firmer feel, but the slow-moving foam on top can impede movement, and its edge support isn’t the best. On the plus side, it shouldn’t distract with any creaks or squeaks.

Noise

Our in-house tester rolled around and hopped on and off the Ultra Hybrid, but it stayed perfectly silent the whole time. Even light sleepers shouldn’t have an issue here.

Base Compatibility

The DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid didn’t shine on the adjustable base. Our tester found that the Euro top bunches awkwardly in the television and lounge positions. There was also a big gap between the bed and the frame when it didn’t have someone’s weight on it. On the other hand, if you use your base for gentle head and foot elevation, the mattress should perform well enough. We gave it 3 out of 5 here.

Durability

For our durability score, we consider materials, edge support, tester feedback, and the warranty. High-quality materials and a solid construction outlast inferior materials, while edge support serves as a helpful indicator of durability. The mattress warranty, meanwhile, is a clue into the expected lifespan from the company’s perspective.

Based on the materials in the DreamCloud, along with its so-so edge support score, our testers’ insights, and the limited lifetime warranty, it’s reasonable to expect the bed to perform for at least 7 to 10 years.

DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid Sleeping Position and Body Weight

Mattress comfort is personal. Body weight plays a big role in how soft or firm a bed feels. Lighter sleepers lack the weight to really sink into a bed, which makes it feel firmer. Heavier sleepers, on the other hand, tend to sink in more. That’s why they often prefer beds that feel softer than advertised.

Before we dive into our recommendations, though, we want to recognize that people come in all shapes and sizes, and people of every size deserve a mattress that works for their body type. We use the weight categories light, average, and heavy to more easily categorize sleepers based on how mattresses will perform for their body type, as most mattresses are designed for the group we call “average” (130 to 230 pounds).

As a general takeaway, lighter sleepers don’t require as much support as average-weight sleepers, and mattresses will tend to feel firmer to them. On the other hand, heavy sleepers tend to need more support than average-weight sleepers and sink into the mattress more. As far as sleeping positions go, side sleepers likely need a softer mattress while stomach sleepers usually need a firmer, more supportive one. Back sleepers are usually somewhere in the middle.

Is the DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid a Good Mattress for Light Sleepers (Under 130 pounds)?

  • Light Back Sleepers – These sleepers should find the Ultra Hybrid comfortable and supportive, as long as they don’t have any existing back pain. Just don’t expect much in the way of sinkage.
  • Light Side Sleepers – This group might find the bed contours well around the hips and shoulders, but be aware of its firmer feel.
  • Light Stomach Sleepers We recommend the Ultra Hybrid for light stomach sleepers, provided they like a firmer feel. It has enough lift to keep the hips elevated.
Our tester stomach sleeping on the DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid Mattress
Our tester stomach sleeping on the DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid Mattress

Is the DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid a Good Mattress for Average-Weight Sleepers (130–230 pounds)?

  • Average-Weight Back Sleepers – These sleepers can expect good pressure relief and just enough cushioning in the low back.
  • Average-Weight Side Sleepers – While this bed isn’t necessarily bad for this group, it’s a little underwhelming. Still, you can expect decent contouring around the hip and shoulder.
  • Average-Weight Stomach Sleepers – We don’t recommend the Ultra Hybrid for these sleepers. They’re likely to experience hip sinkage, which can lead to lower back pain.

Is the DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid a Good Mattress for Heavy Sleepers (over 230 pounds)?

  • Heavy Back Sleepers – Our testing found that heavy back sleepers may experience hip sinkage, which can cause low back tension. For that reason, we wouldn’t recommend this mattress to this group.
  • Heavy Side Sleepers – These sleepers should sink in enough to contour the hips and shoulders, but it may not be even enough to ensure a straight spine. For that reason, it’s worth considering one of the best mattresses for heavy sleepers instead.
  • Heavy Stomach Sleepers – We don’t think these sleepers will get the hip support they need. Too much sinkage here can contribute to back pain.

DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid vs. Competitors

One of the best ways to judge a mattress is with a side-by-side comparison. Here’s how the Ultra Hybrid stacks up next to other popular models.

DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid vs Nectar Classic Hybrid

The Nectar Classic Hybrid is an entry-level model, so it’s lacking some of the premium upgrades in the Ultra Hybrid.

  • Price: Given features like the Euro top, phase change material, and thick layers, the DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid is the more expensive buy. A queen is just under $2,000, compared to $800 for the Nectar.
  • Sleeping position: With its balanced, supportive feel, we think the Nectar works well for side sleepers. Back sleepers who like a firmer bed will find that on the DreamCloud.
  • Cooling: The Nectar scored very well in our cooling tests, so it’s the better choice if overheating is an issue.
  • Body weight: Heavier back sleepers may find the Nectar Classic meets their needs, while heavier side sleepers could be comfortable enough on the DreamCloud. Still, we’d advise heavier sleepers to consider a mattress that’s engineered to support more weight.

DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid vs Saatva Classic

The Saatva Classic is a luxury innerspring with a choice of both firmness and height, so it gives you more options right off the bat. It outperformed the DreamCloud in our edge support, cooling, and response tests, but came up short in motion isolation.

  • Price: These beds are comparably priced, though discounts can bring the Classic down by a few hundred dollars.
  • Sleeping position: Because of its firmness options, the Saatva model can accommodate different sleep positions.
  • Cooling: The Classic earned a 4 out of 5 in our cooling tests. Hot sleepers can expect to be more comfortable on this mattress than the DreamCloud.
  • Body weight: The Saatva Classic is made with dual coil layers, so it’s probably a better option for heavier sleepers. They may want to opt for the Firm model over the Luxury-Firm.

DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid vs Helix Midnight

The Helix Midnight is another entry-level mattress. Like the DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid, it’s made with memory foam layers and pocketed coils. But it doesn’t have a lot in the way of upgrades.

  • Price: The Midnight is priced for affordability. A queen is $1,332 before discounts, which often drop the price below $1,000.
  • Sleeping position: With its medium-firm feel, the Helix works well for back and side sleepers. Those sleepers can also be comfortable on the DreamCloud, especially if they like a firmer feel.
  • Cooling: Both mattresses earned the same 3.5 out of 5 in cooling. If overheating is a nightly issue, there are better mattresses out there.
  • Body weight: The Helix Midnight isn’t supportive enough for sleepers over 230 pounds, and we caution this group to carefully consider the pros and cons of the DreamCloud as well. They may want a mattress with more support.

Other Models from DreamCloud

DreamCloud has generous sleep trial and warranty policies, and if the Ultra Hybrid isn’t right for you, there are other models worth considering.

DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid vs DreamCloud Hybrid

The DreamCloud Hybrid is the brand’s flagship model. While it lacks some of the bells and whistles, it earned a high overall score of 4.8 out of 5 in our tests.

  • Price: The DreamCloud Hybrid offers the best value. A queen is priced at $699
  • Sleeping position: Fans of a firmer feel will prefer the Ultra Hybrid, which works well for back sleeping. But if you like a medium-firm feel for back and side sleeping, along with improved pressure relief, the DreamCloud Hybrid is probably the better choice.
  • Cooling: In our tests, the DreamCloud Hybrid outperformed the Ultra Hybrid with an impressive 4.5. It’s a good choice for hot sleepers.
  • Body weight: Some heavier back sleepers might like the DreamCloud Hybrid, assuming they prefer a medium-soft feel. But we’d steer heavier sleepers in general to mattresses that are specifically designed to meet their needs.

DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid vs DreamCloud Premier Hybrid

The DreamCloud Premier Hybrid is a bestseller, and it’s not hard to see why. It combines a reasonable price tag with a quilted Euro top and a medium-soft feel.

  • Price: If price is a major consideration, you can save close to $1,000 on the Premier Hybrid compared to the Ultra Hybrid.
  • Sleeping position: The softer feel of the Premier works better for side sleepers. It has a more responsive feel as well, so it’s a good fit for combination sleepers. Back and side sleepers who prefer a firm mattress should opt for the Ultra.
  • Cooling: The Premier Hybrid did better in our cooling scores than the Ultra Hybrid, but we don’t think either mattress is the best choice for very hot sleepers.
  • Body weight: We don’t recommend the Premier Hybrid for heavier sleepers in any position. It’s just not supportive enough to keep the spine straight. That’s probably the case with the Ultra Hybrid as well.

DreamCloud Ultra Hybrid vs DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid

The DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid is a softer version of the Ultra Hybrid. We rated it 6 out of 10 on our firmness scale. It offers outstanding pressure relief and motion isolation, but it didn’t perform well in our cooling, response, or edge support tests.

  • Price: The Luxe Hybrid is about $500 cheaper than the Ultra Hybrid.
  • Sleeping position: Both mattresses work for back and side sleepers, so it largely comes down to firmness preferences. If you like a softer feel with more contouring, go with the Luxe Hybrid. Fans of a firmer bed will probably prefer the Ultra Hybrid.
  • Cooling: The Luxe Hybrid only got 2.5 out of 5 in our cooling test, so the Ultra Hybrid actually sleeps cooler. But we wouldn’t recommend either mattress if overheating is a major concern.
  • Body weight: The Luxe Hybrid has a softer feel that will probably feel very soft for heavier sleepers. The Ultra Hybrid is probably a better choice if these are your only two options.
