The Logan & Cove Frontier is a luxury mattress at an affordable price point. It is a hybrid, using both foam layers and coils, but includes extra features like a Euro pillow top and layer of microcoils to pack an extra luxury factor. With a soft feel, this bed is comfortable, but also supportive. And it is one of the rare unicorn mattresses that can work for all sleeping positions, making it a great pick for combination sleepers.

What Is the Logan & Cove Frontier Mattress Made Of?
Materials can tell you a lot about how a mattress will feel and perform. So let’s take a look under the hood of the Logan & Cove Frontier and see what it’s made of.
Cover – The Logan & Cove Frontier has a quilted cover with cooling fibers incorporated into the fabric. The cover is quilted with fiber fill and gel-infused foam for added plushness. The Frontier’s cover is a Euro top, which is a style of pillow top that is stitched flush to the edge of the mattress.
Comfort Layer – This layer provides the initial comfort for the sleeper on the bed. The Frontier’s comfort layer is a 1-inch section of gel-infused foam.
Microcoil Layer – Beneath the comfort layer lies a layer of microcoils. These are miniature coils that provide additional support. They are individually pocketed, allowing them to slightly contour around your body.
Transition Layer – This layer serves as a transition between the upper layers and the firm support layer below. The Frontier’s transition layer is a 1 ⅝-inch section of soy-infused Elastex foam. This is the brand’s proprietary foam, which is designed to provide contouring and comfort.
Support Layer – The final layer of the Frontier is a 9-inch section of individually pocketed coils. These coils serve as the primary support of the mattress and are arranged into five different support zones. That means they are firmer in some parts of the bed and softer in others, in order to promote neutral alignment.
Logan & Cove Frontier Mattress Firmness
Here at Sleepopolis, we rate mattress firmness on a scale from 1 to 10, where 1 is the softest and 10 is the firmest. We use 6.5 as the standard for medium-firm, which is the most common mattress firmness. Firmness is a subjective concept — what feels soft to one person may feel firmer to another. So we like to have multiple teammates test out each bed and give it a rating on the firmness scale. We average those together to get our final score.
We ultimately rated the Logan & Cove Frontier as a 6 out of 10, meaning it is just softer than average. The bed offers a very plush feel on top, thanks to the cushy Euro top layer, but still I felt quite “on top” of the bed. I think the layer of microcoils provides a nice uplift for sleepers to prevent sinking in super deeply.

Sleeping Position and Body Weight?
With the construction and firmness of this mattress in mind, let’s dive into how you — the sleeper — may feel on the Logan & Cove Frontier. Mattresses are rarely one-size-fits-all; depending on your primary sleeping position and body type, some mattresses will be better for you than others.
We recognize that people come in all shapes and sizes, and people of every size deserve a mattress that works for their body type. We use the weight categories light, average, and heavy to more easily categorize sleepers based on how mattresses will perform for their body type, as most mattresses are designed for the group we call “average” (59 to 113 kilograms, or 130 to 250 pounds).
As a general takeaway, lighter sleepers don’t require as much support as average weight sleepers, and mattresses will tend to feel firmer to them. On the other hand, heavy sleepers tend to need more support than average weight sleepers and tend to sink into the mattress more.
As far as sleeping positions go, side sleepers tend to need a softer mattress while stomach sleepers usually need a firmer, more supportive one. Back sleepers are usually somewhere in the middle.
So here is how I think different sleepers will fare on the Logan & Cove Frontier mattress.
Is the Logan & Cove Frontier a Good Mattress for Light Sleepers (Under 59 kilograms / 130 pounds)?
- Light Back Sleepers – I think light back sleepers will feel very comfortable on the Frontier. Its Euro top provides enough cushioning for comfort, while still being supportive enough to maintain spinal alignment.
- Light Side Sleepers – Light side sleepers should feel comfortable on the Logan & Cove Frontier, as the Euro top and comfort layer provide a nice cushioning sleep surface to relieve pressure on the shoulder and hip.
- Light Stomach Sleepers – These folks should feel quite cozy on the Logan & Cove Frontier. While the upper layers provide some plushness, the microcoils keep the hips lifted up, which helps prevent lower back pain.
Is the Logan & Cove Frontier a Good Mattress for Average Weight Sleepers (59 – 113 kilograms / 130 – 250 pounds)?
- Average Weight Back Sleepers – The Frontier is an ideal mattress for average weight back sleepers. It has an excellent mix of comfort and support, thanks to the combo of the Euro top and microcoil layer. I felt extremely comfortable in this position.
- Average Weight Side Sleepers – Average weight side sleepers should feel quite comfortable, too. They may notice a little more pressure buildup, if they are hitting the microcoil layer on the shoulder and hip. However, for me, side sleeping was very comfortable on the Frontier.
- Average Weight Stomach Sleepers – I think average weight stomach sleepers will also do well on the Frontier. I did not expect it to keep my hips propped up, since the bed is fairly soft, but I didn’t feel them sinking in at all. The microcoils are likely providing a nice bit of support to maintain stomach sleepers’ posture.
Is the Logan & Cove Frontier a Good Mattress for Heavy Sleepers (over 113 kilograms / 250 pounds)?
- Heavy Back Sleepers – Heavy back sleepers should sleep comfortably on the Logan & Cove Frontier. I think it will provide enough support for these folks to maintain spinal alignment, while still feeling comfortable.
- Heavy Side Sleepers – Heavy side sleepers may feel more pressure buildup than light or average side sleepers on this bed, because of the microcoil layer. Since they are heavier, they’ll sink in more, and I think they’ll find their joints hitting the microcoil layer, which could cause pressure buildup.
- Heavy Stomach Sleepers – I don’t think the Frontier is quite firm or supportive enough for heavy stomach sleepers. These folks may find their hips sinking into the bed.
Logan & Cove Frontier Mattress Performance
In addition to assessing how it feels for different folks to sleep on a mattress, we also like to run a series of tests on each mattress. Below, I’ll go over the results of tests on motion transfer, pain relief, cooling, and more.
Logan & Cove Frontier Mattress Pain Relief Performance
We like to see how much mattresses relieve pressure on key pressure points like shoulders, hips, and the back to assess their capability for pain relief. If a mattress doesn’t cushion certain parts of the body well, it is possible for pressure to build up, which may cause pain or worsen existing pain.
To test pressure relief, I used a heat-mapping pressure map on the Logan & Cove Frontier. This device is a mat you lay on top of a mattress and when you’re on top of it, the pressure map uses thermal imaging to show where pressure is building up on your body. Blues and greens indicate low pressure, while reds and oranges indicate higher pressure.
Looking at the results, there is little to no pressure building up while lying on my back on the Frontier. This is a great sign that the mattress relieves pressure well for back sleepers. On my side, there is some significant pressure forming on my hip and shoulder. While I felt fairly comfortable in this position, this may indicate that side sleepers with joint pain may need a softer or more cushioning mattress.
Motion Transfer
If you share the bed with a partner or pet, motion transfer is something you may want to pay attention to. It refers to how much movement travels across the bed — if your partner is tossing and turning on their side, how much you’ll feel that movement on your side.
We test how a bed isolates motion in three ways. First, we do a “human test.” One person lays on the bed, while another person moves around on the bed, and we see how much motion the unmoving person feels. Next, we do a wine glass test. We place a glass of wine on one side and move around on the other side to see how much the liquid moves in the glass.
Finally, we use a seismometer test, in which we place the seismometer on one side and drop a 10-pound steel ball on the other. We drop from three heights to simulate different types of movement.
Overall, the Frontier isolated motion well in our tests. It wasn’t perfect, so you are likely to feel some bigger movements, like a partner getting out of bed. But overall you shouldn’t be disturbed by tossing and turning or other small motions.
Responsiveness
Responsiveness is a measure of how quickly the material responds to pressure. If it is slow, it can be more difficult to move around on the surface. If it is quick, then moving around is no issue. This is an important consideration for combination sleepers, people with mobility issues, and couples using their mattress for sex.
I tested the Frontier’s responsiveness by moving around on the mattress, changing between sleeping positions. It was really easy to move around on, because the Frontier is fairly bouncy and I didn’t sink into the material very deeply, so I never felt stuck. It is a very responsive mattress.
Cooling
A cooling mattress can be beneficial for many people — those who run warm at night, people who live in warm climates, or couples (two bodies produce more heat than one!). The Logan & Cove Frontier incorporates several cooling materials, like cooling gel foam and a slightly cool-to-the-touch cover, that help with temperature regulation. Additionally, the coils allow for more airflow in the bed than in a memory foam mattress, which allows hot air to escape.
I felt the Logan & Cove Frontier slept pretty cool, so I’d say it’s a good mattress for hot sleepers.
Edge Support
Edge support refers to how well the perimeter of the bed bears weight. Ideally, you would want to feel as supported on the edge as you do in the middle. Good edge support can be beneficial for folks who sit or sleep along the edge, as well as heavier people and couples. Edge support is also a great indicator of durability.
I tested the Frontier’s edge support by sitting and lying along the edge to see how much the mattress supported me. I saw very little sinkage along the edge while sitting and lying down, so I was pretty impressed with the Frontier’s edge support. It isn’t the best of the best, but I’d say it was very good.
Logan & Cove Frontier Mattress Performance for Couples
The four tests I covered above (motion transfer, responsiveness, cooling, and edge support) are important factors for couples sharing a mattress. We look at how a mattress performs in these categories to decide if it is a good mattress for couples. Based on these results, the Logan & Cove Frontier is a great mattress for couples. It isolates motion well, has sturdy edge support, is very responsive for sex, and sleeps cool.
Plus, it can work for people with different weights and sleeping positions, so it’s a versatile bed for two partners to share.

- Combination sleepers should find a lot to love about the Frontier. For most people, it can work well for all three sleeping positions and is responsive enough to make it easy to change between positions.

- Shoppers looking for an excellent value mattress should love how high-quality this bed feels for a relatively affordable price.
Who I Don’t Recommend the Logan & Cove Frontier Mattress For
- While I think the Logan & Cove Frontier can work for heavy back sleepers, it’s not a great pick for heavy side and stomach sleepers.
