The Novilla Quietude is a solid, budget-friendly option for sleepers who prefer a memory foam mattress. The Quietude provides decent motion isolation, support, and edge support, making it a good option for couples or individuals who sleep with their pets. Its charcoal-infused foam layers also help keep things cool, as memory foam beds tend to heat up quite a bit throughout the night.
This mattress is a bed-in-a-box, so it ships compressed in a package to your doorstep. Because of this, you might notice an off-gassing period upon first opening it. This should disappear in one to three days after you unbox it. To speed up the process, I recommend leaving your new mattress in a well-ventilated room and avoid adding sheets for about 24 hours.

What Is the Novilla Quietude Mattress Made Of?
The Novilla Quietude is a memory foam mattress designed to adapt to the curves of your body and relieve pressure on sensitive areas. This mattress is available in heights of both 10 inches and 12 inches and features layers of bamboo-infused charcoal to regulate temperature and ensure a good night’s sleep. Let’s take a closer look at what’s inside the Novilla Quietude below.
Cover – The top layer of the mattress features a breathable cover made of high-quality, skin-friendly knitted fabrics. Immediately below the cover is an anti-fire inner cover coated with fireproof substances to ensure a safe sleeping zone. When testing the Novilla Quietude, I found the cover to be plush and soft to the touch as soon as I jumped into bed.
Comfort Layer – Up next is the Novilla Quietude’s comfort layer. This layer features charcoal-infused memory foams that absorb moisture and sweat to help keep the surface cool. The Novilla Quietude’s memory foam is also fast-moving, meaning it took no time to return to its original shape after I pressed into it. Based on this, the Quietude could be a good option for sleepers who prefer a firmer mattress but still want that traditional memory foam feel.
Transition Layer – Next up is a layer of high-density charcoal foam that provides comfortable support without sagging.
Support Layer – Finally, the Novilla Quietude’s non-slip fabric bottom helps keep the mattress in place as you switch between different sleeping positions.
Novilla Quietude Mattress Firmness
Before I start talking about the firmness and feel of the Novilla Quietude, it’s important to note that firmness is subjective. A mattress will feel firmer or softer to different sleepers depending on their body weight, shape, and preferred sleeping position.
To help me understand how firm the Novilla Quietude feels, I invited a colleague to try out the mattress and give it a firmness rating between 1 and 10. For reference, the industry standard is 6.5 out of 10, or medium-firm.
This mattress has a soft, plush feel, which is to be expected from a traditional memory foam mattress. When I tested the Novilla Quietude, I felt my hips and the back of my head sink a little more than the rest of my body. I didn’t feel super cradled by this mattress, but overall it felt comfortable. I also noticed the foam bounce back relatively fast.
Similarly, my colleague felt her hips sink in more than the rest of her body and noted that it offered good pressure relief in her lower lumbar area.
I gave this mattress a 6 out of 10 on the mattress firmness scale, meaning it’s a little softer than the industry average. The Novilla Quietude is a solid choice for sleepers who prefer an all-foam mattress that relieves pressure around the lower lumbar area.

Sleeping Position and Body Weight
We recognize that people come in all shapes and sizes, and people of every size deserve a mattress that works for their body type. We use the weight categories light, average, and heavy to more easily categorize sleepers based on how mattresses will perform for their body type, as most mattresses are designed for the group we call “average” (130 to 250 pounds).
As a general takeaway, lighter sleepers don’t require as much support as average weight sleepers, and mattresses will tend to feel firmer to them. On the other hand, heavy sleepers tend to need more support than average weight sleepers and tend to sink into the mattress more.
As far as sleeping positions go, side sleepers tend to need a softer mattress while stomach sleepers usually need a firmer, more supportive one. Back sleepers are usually somewhere in the middle.
Is the Novilla Quietude a Good Mattress for Light Sleepers (Under 130 pounds)?
- Light Back Sleepers – Light back sleepers who prefer a medium-firm mattress should enjoy sleeping on the Novilla Quietude. These sleepers should experience plenty of support and pressure relief from the Novilla Quietude.
- Light Side Sleepers – Similarly, the Novilla Quietude should work for most light side sleepers who want an all-foam mattress with a medium-firm feel. However, this mattress may feel too firm for light side sleepers with sensitive joints.
- Light Stomach Sleepers – While light stomach sleepers who prefer to feel more “in” their mattress than on top of it might enjoy the Novilla Quietude, I would suggest something more firm for these sleepers.
Is the Novilla Quietude a Good Mattress for Average Weight Sleepers (130–250 pounds)?
- Average Weight Back Sleepers – Average-weight back sleepers who prefer a plush, memory-foam bed should have no trouble falling asleep on the Novilla Quietude. These sleepers should experience good pressure relief around their lower lumbar areas.
- Average Weight Side Sleepers – The Novilla Quietude should offer enough body contouring for most average-weight side sleepers. However, I would recommend something softer for those with sensitive shoulders who may need additional body contouring around those joints.
- Average Weight Stomach Sleepers – This mattress could work for average-weight stomach sleepers who prefer to sink into their mattress a little more at night. I would suggest something more firm for these sleepers.
Is the Novilla Quietude a Good Mattress for Heavy Sleepers (over 250 pounds)?
- Heavy Back Sleepers – I would not recommend the Novilla Quietude for heavier sleepers. These sleepers will likely sink through the layers without getting the support they need, which would put more pressure on their backs and joints.
- Heavy Side Sleepers – Heavy side sleepers will need something that offers more support and body contouring. These sleepers will likely sink too far into the Quietude, meaning they will not get the extra support they need around their joints.
- Heavy Stomach Sleepers – I would not recommend the Novilla Quietude to heavy stomach sleepers. Stomach sleepers generally need something a little firmer to keep their hips elevated and spine in alignment.

At Sleepopolis, we run numerous tests on every mattress we review. This helps our team get an objective view of what it’s like to sleep on them. Thanks to these tests, I can make more specific recommendations in addition to sleeping position and body type.

Motion Transfer
Motion transfer measures how much movement you will likely detect from one side of the bed to the other. If you sleep with a wiggly pet or partner who tends to switch between sleeping positions throughout the night, you want a bed that effectively traps movement. Prioritizing low motion transfer, or what we also call good motion isolation, can ensure you sleep soundly, no matter who’s tossing and turning next to you.
Human Test
The first test is simple enough: I lie down on the mattress with a colleague, switch between sleeping positions, and see how much of each other’s movement we feel.
Aside from when my colleague got in and out of bed, I could barely detect her movements. Based on this test alone, most sleepers should not be disturbed by their partner’s movements at night unless they repeatedly get in and out of bed.
Water Test
Next, we place a full glass of water on the mattress and see how much the liquid moves around with us. If the water has zero to little movement, it’s a safe bet that the mattress has low motion transfer, which is what you want to see.
Even though we were moving around on the mattress quite a bit, the liquid in the glass barely moved, which indicates low motion transfer. However, we were able to see more movement in the glass when getting in and out of bed.
Seismometer Test
Next up is our seismometer test. This test involves dropping a 10-pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches, and 12 inches, then measuring the disturbance it causes. In this case, the bigger the lines on the graph, the bigger the disturbance and the higher the motion transfer.
As you can see in the graphs above, these findings correlate with what we saw during the water test. Most of the motion is during impact, but it does not travel far.
Responsiveness
Responsiveness refers to how quickly a mattress reverts to its original shape after applying pressure. Memory foam usually has a low response to pressure, while hybrid mattresses with coils tend to have a high response to pressure.
While Novilla Quietude is not a particularly bouncy or responsive bed, most sleepers won’t have to worry about sinking into it too much. This mattress could be a good option for combination sleepers who prefer an all-foam bed. This bed could also be a solid choice for couples and individuals who sleep with a restless pet.
Cooling
A lot of factors go into how cool a mattress will sleep. The materials inside the mattress largely contribute to whether it traps heat or releases it. Memory foam is generally prone to trapping heat, but the charcoal-infused foam in the Novilla Quietude should help keep things cool at night.
I tested the Novilla Quietude with a thermal gun, a device that uses color-coded imaging to measure how much and how quickly a mattress heats up when someone lies down on it.
If it heats more than 15 degrees Fahrenheit, I consider it to have poor cooling capabilities. 10 to 15 degrees indicates decent cooling, 5 to 10 degrees indicates good cooling, and less than 5 degrees indicates excellent cooling. In the case of the Novilla Quietude, the temperature went up 9 degrees, making it a decent choice for most sleepers.
If you tend to sleep hot at night, you might prefer a hybrid mattress with better air circulation or a mattress with more cooling features.
Edge Support
I also tested the edge support on the Novilla Quietude. Edge support measures whether you can sleep all the way on the edge of the bed without feeling the side of the mattress collapsing under your weight. It can also help you determine a mattress’s durability and whether it may sag over time.
When sitting on the edge and the corners of the bed, I observed a good amount of sinkage, but never felt unstable or like I was going to fall off. I also felt supported while resting on the edge of the bed.
When I measured the sinkage with a yardstick, the layers sank nearly 4 inches of compression when weight was applied to the edge.
While not ideal for those needing strong edge support, such as individuals with mobility issues, the Novilla Quietude is a strong contender for couples who use the entire surface of the mattress.
Novilla Quietude Mattress Performance For Couples
Overall, I think this mattress could be a decent pick for couples, but some features may not be ideal. The Quietude is a true memory foam bed, and while its charcoal-infused foam should help keep things cool, it pales in comparison to the cooling abilities found in hybrid mattresses.
The Novilla Quietude also might not be responsive enough for couples who frequently change positions or move around a lot at night. So, if this is important to you, we recommend an innerspring mattress or one of our best mattresses for sex. However, the motion isolation on this bed is fantastic, which is ideal for many couples, especially if one or both partners sleep lightly. You won’t be disturbed by a partner tossing and turning on their side of the bed.

- Shoppers on a budget should consider the Novilla Quietude mattress. Its price point is much more affordable than some of its competitors.
- Average and lightweight back sleepers who prefer a memory foam mattress should give the Novilla Quietude a shot. These sleepers should experience plenty of body contouring and pressure relief.
- Individuals with a restless bedmate or couples who enjoy using the entire surface of the mattress should have no problems getting a good night’s sleep on the Novilla Quietude.
Who I Don’t Recommend the Novilla Quietude Mattress For
- I do not recommend the Novilla Quietude for heavier sleepers. These sleepers will not get the support they need and could potentially put more pressure on their backs and joints.
- While this bed does have impressive edge support for a memory foam mattress, I would not recommend this mattress for individuals with mobility issues. These sleepers should opt for an innerspring mattress or something with stronger edge support.

These are both well-known brands in the value mattress market with similar features. However, there are some differences you should know about to make a more informed buying decision.
Novilla vs Nectar
The Nectar is an all-foam mattress foam bed made with CertiPUR-US Certified foam, so it’s free of harmful chemicals, heavy metals, and ozone depleters. It’s just as firm as the Novilla Quietude, coming in at a 6 out of 10 on our mattress firmness scale.
- Price: The Novilla Quietude is cheaper than the Nectar.
- Sleeping position: Most back sleepers should enjoy the Novilla and Nectar. Both mattresses should also be a good fit for average and lightweight side sleepers. Stomach sleepers should avoid both mattresses and opt for either an innerspring mattress or firm mattress.

Created by renowned mattress brand Sealy, the Cocoon Chill is an all-foam bed, just like the Novilla. But it’s a bit firmer, coming in at a 7 out of 10 on our mattress firmness scale. It also has some additional cooling technology built into it, such as a cover made of phase change material.
- Price: The Novilla Quietude is cheaper than the Cocoon Chill.
- Sleeping position: Back sleepers can’t go wrong with either mattress. Average and lightweight side sleepers would enjoy the softer foams of the Novilla. Neither mattress is going to be a good match for stomach sleepers, who tend to need more firmness and support.
