What are the American Blossom Linens Classic Sheets Made Of?

Material is one of the most important things to consider when buying a new set of sheets. We’ve reviewed sheets of all different materials, from cotton to flannel to bamboo.

The American Blossom Linens Classic Sheets are made with 100 percent West Texas Organic American Cotton, using a percale weave. Percale weave sheets are known for being super breathable and crisp. Generally, cotton is a great material for sheets, as it is durable, breathable, and soft. And these sheets in particular feel heavier and more durable than other cotton sheets.

The fitted sheet in this set has 16-inch deep pockets and features a North Carolina-made wide, encased elastic band. This means that the sheets will fit easily onto almost any mattress and will also be less likely to pop off during the night.

The fitted sheet also has tags labeled “Top or Bottom,” which eliminates any confusion while making your bed. And while that may seem like a small detail, I know I’ve had frustrating moments trying to figure out which was the long or short side of a fitted sheet, so I really appreciate this detail!

The American Blossom Linens Classic Sheets have 180-thread count per square inch. Our typical benchmark for a good thread count in percale sheets is somewhere between 180 and 300.

What Do the American Blossom Linens Classic Sheets Feel Like?

Overall, I thought these sheets had that very common percale feel of being really crisp. The feel reminded me of high-quality hotel sheets

The name “Classic Sheets” is perfect for these, because that’s exactly what they are to me. They have a very classic, straightforward feel — they’re smooth, soft, and exactly what I think of when I imagine “cotton sheets.” These sheets are a great middle ground between the super silky feel of bamboo or sateen sheets and the uber-coziness of flannel sheets.

Are the American Blossom Linens Classic Sheets Good for Hot Sleepers?

I think the American Blossom Linens Classic Sheets could be a good choice for hot sleepers! Percale weave cotton sheets are generally very breathable, which is helpful for hot sleepers, and these are no exception. These sheets are a little thicker than some other cotton sheets — I wouldn’t call them “airy,” like many other percale sheets are described — so I think they could be especially nice for hot sleepers to use in slightly colder months

How Durable are American Blossom Linens Classic Sheets?

I thought these sheets felt very durable. As I mentioned before, they have a slightly thicker and heavier feel than some other cotton percale sheets. The quality of the sheets seems pretty high, from the thick elastic used on the fitted sheet to the hems on the flat sheet. I think this sheet set is one that will last a long time, given they are properly cared for.

I will note that the sheets are quite wrinkly. American Blossom says on their website that they choose not to treat their sheets with formaldehyde resin to make them wrinkle-resistant, so if you want to avoid wrinkles, shake the bedding out between washing and drying. Or you can always iron them to completely eliminate wrinkles

I mention this because, while wrinkle-free sheets can be really convenient, most of them have been treated with formaldehyde or other chemicals to make the fabric resistant to wrinkles. If you’re looking for an all natural, quality product that hasn’t been treated with chemicals, these American Blossom Linens Classic Sheets definitely fit the bill. You can even buy the sheets unbleached, further reducing the amount of chemicals and processing used to make them.

Do the American Blossom Linens Classic Sheets Stay on the Bed?

I tested these sheets out at home for a night and I had absolutely no issue with the sheets staying on the bed! I think that the strong elastic and deep pockets used on the fitted sheet work really well to keep the sheets in place. If you have a shorter mattress, you may actually need to tuck some of the extra fabric underneath your bed to get a tight fit, as the pockets on the fitted sheet are quite large.

I will note that the pillowcases don’t have any closures, so you might find your pillow slipping out of the cases if you move around a lot at night. Personally, I like pillowcases that have that envelope-style closure to ensure they stay on my pillow, so I was a little disappointed there.

Are American Blossom Linens Classic Sheets Good for You?

Now that we’ve gone over my experience with the American Blossom Linens Classic Sheets, here’s my final thoughts.

Who should try American Blossom Linens Classic sheets

  • If you like a classic, crisp, hotel-style sheet, I think you’ll love the feel of this cotton sheet set
  • Additionally, hot sleepers will appreciate the breathability of the percale weave used on these sheets.
  • These bed sheets are also a great option for shoppers who like organic, eco-friendly products that use little processing or chemicals. Especially since these sheets are manufactured sustainably in the USA with American made organic cotton.

American Blossom Linens Classic sheets complaints

  • These sheets are definitely somewhat wrinkle-prone. If you want effortlessly smooth sheets, these may not be the best option for you.
  • If you want specific colors for your sheets, you may want to consider another sheet set. American Blossom sheets are undyed, so your only color options are neutrals.
  • If you want either a silky smooth feel or a super cuddly flannel-style feel, these are probably not the best sheets for you.

Another important factor in buying bedding is color. Some people like bold patterns for their sheets, while others prefer neutral or solid colors. The American Blossom Linens Classic Sheets are available in two colors: Natural and White. The Natural version is the organic cotton without dyes or bleach — it looks like a warm beige.

American Blossom Linens Classic Sheets Vs

Let’s compare the American Blossom Linens Classic Sheets to another similar set of sheets: the Kassatex Lorimer Washed Percale sheets.

American Blossom Linens Classic Sheets vs Kassatex Lorimer Washed Percale Sheets

KAssatex Sheet 7
Kassatex sheets
  • The Kassatex Lorimer Washed Percale sheets are made with a blend of long-staple cotton and Tencel, which is a sustainable material made from dissolving wood pulp.
  • These sheets have a classic percale feel: they are airy, breathable, and light. However, they are somewhat less crisp than other percale sheets, because they have been garment washed. This gives them a more “lived in” feel.
  • These are great sheets for the summer. The light, airness of the percale weave, plus the moisture-wicking Tencel makes these super breathable.
