Meet the newest mattress from Nature’s Sleep! The Emerald gel memory foam mattress is one of the most unique mattresses I have ever unboxed or tested.

This mattress is created by Nature’s Sleep. This Florida based company specializes in not only in building the most comfortable and supportive mattresses, but mattresses that use the highest quality (on par with Tempur-pedic) and healthiest materials. The result is a mattress that sleeps wonderfully, and healthily. You can find Nature’s Sleep products at Khol’s, Costco, and of course online at NaturesSleep.com.

The Emerald Gel Memory Foam mattress is truly one of the most unique mattresses I’ve ever seen. It is specifically designed with stomach sleepers in mind. The foams used, their layering, and other construction factors combine to form a mattress that helps stomach sleepers get better sleep. The mattress does this with what they call the “elevator effect”. Essentially, the mattress rises up or lowers down based on the sleeper’s weight in different places, allowing the spine to achieve proper alignment, while also reducing pressure on your airways.

Initial Thoughts

I’ve only slept on my Nature’s Sleep Emerald gel memory foam mattress a few nights, but thus far I’m really impressed. I have been a stomach sleeper my entire life. Most days my back is fine, which is likely more due to my age (or lack thereof), but other days I can certainly wake up sore sleeping on traditional mattresses.

In any case, I definitely managed to strain my lower back a bit last week working out. The mattress I was previously testing wasn’t doing me any favors to alleviating the pain in an already strained back. After my first night on the Emerald gel memory foam I could tell a noticeable difference in my soreness. Perhaps it was simply the strain running its course, but the absence of back pain in the morning combined with one of the deeper sleeps I’ve had in a while make me think the mattress is playing a big factor.

The feel is similar to that of a traditional memory foam mattress. There’s a fair degree of sinkage, hug, and contour around your body. Generally, I don’t like this feeling, but in this case it seemed to work for me. The foam layers do a good job of dropping certain portions of my body, while elevating others, getting my back closer to a neutral spine alignment.

Nature’s Sleep products are certainly not inexpensive, but you really get what you pay for. Their quality is at the same level of Tempur-pedic. When you factor in the 60% they really are a great value for the money.

It’s only been a few days, but thus far I’m really enjoying the feel and rest. I’m getting great sleep and it has reduced much of my lower back pain.

We’ll have our full review of the Nature’s Sleep Emerald gel memory foam mattress, comparison reviews, and a whole lot more coming very soon.

  1. I check out your website often. The ghostbed is turning to be a litle too hot and firm for me. I was offered the Emerald 12″ but nature’s sleep as an alternative. My biggest concern is sleeping hot and secondly relieving back pain. I am mostly a side sleeper, with occasionally sleeping on back or stomach. i love memory foams but I have yet to find one that sleeps cool except for my sofa bed memory foam (paid extra for it) and that came with the Haverty’s sleeper sofa. Could you give me more info on sleeping temp and softness. I live in Austin, Texas and the climate pretty much stays warm. I’m about 190lb female

    • Sleeping temperature is not always going to be directly correlated to the softness of a mattress. That said, the deeper you sink into a foam mattress, the more likely you are to experience a bit of warmth.

In your specific case, it sounds like you’re somewhat of a naturally warm sleeper and live in a warmer climate as it is. Therefore, I would recommend getting away from memory foam and into a coil or latex or latex alternative mattress.

In my opinion, the Saatva or Brooklyn Bedding mattress could be a good fit for you. Both offer very good support, pressure relief, comfort, and a good degree of cooling.

Hope this helps to clear things up a bit :)

  2. When will your full review be completed on this bed?
I’m a big guy 6’2″ 330. And I’m trying to find a bed that doesn’t hurt my back and hips. I’ve had the Ghost bed for over a month and it’s killing my back and hips. Ghost is offering this bed as an exchange. I can’t find much information on this bed to decide.
    Thanks’

  3. My husband and I are wrapping up night 45 on our Ghostbed and we’re not loving it, it’s just too firm and we’re dealing with a fair amount of discomfort that we didn’t have with our old mattress. We were offered an exchange (no additional cost to us but we would lose the 101 night trail) for this mattress or a return and money back. Thoughts?

We’re both side sleepers, I’m about 120 lbs and my husband is 170.

    • If you’re truly not happy with the mattress, I would recommend returning it and going with something else. No sense in abandoning the trial period by exchanging the mattress.

My recommendation would be to look into something a little softer; Leesa, Brooklyn Bedding, and the Amerisleep Liberty. Each of these could serve as a good fit.

  4. The two Nature’s Sleep mattresses I’m most interested in are the Diamond Jel and the Fiji mattress. They are 11 and 10.5 inches respectively. I am a side and back sleeper, whence my interest in these two mattresses.

    • Hi Ray,

Thanks for your comments. I can try to request those mattresses from the manufacturer and add them to my review queue.

In the mean time, do you have any specific questions about those mattresses that I can help with?
