Saatva boasts that its all-foam Loom & Leaf mattress offers body-hugging comfort and sturdy support — with no sagging, no excessive sinking, and just the promise of solid sleep. It features multiple foam layers, including a breathable cover for added cooling and a firm transition layer that helps maintain support and spinal alignment.

Memory foam, the star material in this mattress, is engineered to cradle the body and relieve pressure points in the shoulders, hips, and lower back. As Dr. Raj Dasgupta, MD, FACP, FCCP, FAASM, our chief medical advisor, explains, “Memory foam is naturally cushiony and pressure-relieving. It works by conforming to your body’s shape, which helps reduce tension and can be especially beneficial for those with back pain or pressure sensitivity.”

Curious to see if these claims held up in real-world use, we brought the Loom & Leaf into our testing center here in Charlotte, NC.

Here at Sleepopolis, we’ve been testing mattresses and sleep gear since 2014, helping more than 60,000 people (and counting) find the best new mattress for them. Our expert testers and certified sleep science coaches have reviewed over 330 mattresses using a proprietary review methodology to ensure our reviews are accurate, unbiased, and trustworthy.

Read on to see what we thought of the Saatva Loom & Leaf and how it performs in key categories like pressure relief, motion isolation, responsiveness, and more.

The Loom & Leaf mattress by Saatva has a firmer feel that provides ample support for back sleepers and stomach sleepers. This mattress comes in two firmness options, Relaxed Firm and Firm, so you can choose the right one for your sleep preferences (we tested the Firm). For more information, watch our video review.

What our tester says:

“The Saatva Loom & Leaf is a 12-inch, all-foam bed-in-a-box designed for sleepers who prefer a firmer, more supportive feel. It excelled in back-sleeping pressure relief, motion isolation, and responsiveness, earning an overall rating of 4.4 out of 5 in our testing. What stood out to me was how well the Loom & Leaf helped maintain neutral spinal alignment, particularly for back and stomach sleepers. Its dense memory foam layers provided ample support without excessive sinkage.” – Riley Otis, staff writer and certified sleep science coach

Saatva Loom & Leaf Mattress Overview

The Saatva Loom & Leaf is a 12-inch, all-foam bed-in-a-box designed for sleepers who prefer a firmer, more supportive feel.

Its dense memory foam layers provided ample support without excessive sinkage.

However, I wouldn’t recommend this Saatva mattress to side sleepers under 130 pounds or stomach sleepers over 230 pounds. The firmer feel may not supply enough give at the shoulders and hips, leading to potential pressure buildup and aches and pains over time. At the same time, stomach sleepers with bigger bodies will likely sink too far into the bed’s foam layers, which could cause discomfort and back pain.

Saatva Loom & Leaf Value

To determine if a mattress is worth its price, I evaluate the quality of materials and how well it performs in real-world testing. The Loom & Leaf is priced at $2,999 for a queen size before any discounts, which is not cheap but does reflect its high-density memory foam, eco-friendly construction, and long-term durability.

Saatva also backs the Loom & Leaf with a 365-night sleep trial and a lifetime warranty, which show confidence in the mattress’s longevity. After hands-on testing, I believe the Loom & Leaf delivers excellent value for sleepers seeking a firm, supportive memory foam mattress, especially those who prioritize back support and quiet performance.

What Is the Saatva Loom & Leaf Made Of?

The Saatva Loom & Leaf is a 12-inch, all-foam model designed for eco-conscious sleepers wanting a luxury mattress. Saatva uses a cleaner manufacturing process for this model, replacing 30 percent of the polyurethane in its foams with renewable, plant-based oils from soybeans and corn.

Here’s a closer look at the Loom & Leaf’s construction:

Saatva Loom Leaf Layers1

Cover – The Loom & Leaf features a soft, breathable organic cotton cover. While it doesn’t have a noticeably cool-to-the-touch feel, it promotes airflow and feels comfortable against the skin.

Comfort Layer – Just beneath the cover is a 2-inch layer of cooling gel-infused memory foam, designed to provide plush contouring and pressure relief. Perforations in this layer help encourage airflow and reduce heat buildup while gently cradling the body.

Transition Layer – Next is a 2-inch layer of firmer memory foam that contributes to the mattress’s overall feel and support. Saatva offers two different firmness levels: Relaxed Firm and Firm. We tested the Firm version, which provides a more supportive, stable surface ideal for back and stomach sleepers.

Support Layer – At the base is a 5.5-inch layer of high-density support foam that gives the mattress its structure and long-term durability. This foundation helps the mattress maintain its shape and resist sagging over time

Saatva Loom Leaf Measure

Saatva Loom & Leaf Mattress Firmness

Firmness is mostly a matter of personal feel. One sleeper’s dreamily soft mattress might feel uncomfortably firm to another person. To account for this subjectivity, we invite several expert testers to try out each mattress in all three sleeping positions. Each tester shares their thoughts on how firm the bed feels to them, and we average their scores to calculate an overall firmness rating. We use a 1 to 10 scale, with 1 being the softest and 10 the firmest. Most sleepers prefer something in the middle, and a 6.5 out of 10 generally represents the sweet spot: medium firm.

After taking the Loom & Leaf for a spin, mattress tester Riley Otis and I gave it a firmness rating of 7.5 out of 10, which places it a little higher than the industry standard of medium-firm on our scale. Overall, the Saatva Loom & Leaf is quite firm for an all-foam mattress, and makes you feel like you’re sleeping “on top” of the bed rather than “inside” the memory foam layers.

Saatva Loom & Leaf Mattress Performance

Every mattress has its highs and lows, which is why we divide our tests into numerous categories to help sleepers find just what they need. Below, I’ll share how the Loom & Leaf mattress performed on tests that evaluate cooling, edge support, pressure relief, and more.

Saatva Loom & Leaf Pressure Relief Performance

Night after night, your mattress supports your entire body weight, so you’ll want to find something that cushions sensitive areas, including the shoulders, hips, and lower back. Without proper pressure relief, you may wake up with stiffness or discomfort that worsens over time.

“Pressure relief plays a major role in how well you sleep,” says Dr. Dasgupta. “A mattress that doesn’t ease tension in key areas can interrupt rest and contribute to aches and pains.”

To test pressure relief on the Loom & Leaf, we used a pressure-mapping mat that tracks how weight is distributed in both side- and back-sleeping positions. This mat produces a color-coded image, with blue and green representing low pressure, and yellow and red highlighting areas of concentrated stress.

Riley and I gave the Saatva Loom & Leaf mattress a perfect 5-star rating for back pressure relief and a 3-star rating for side pressure relief. While Riley and I found better relief while lying on our backs, especially in our lower lumbar areas, we found it a touch too firm on our sides.

“This mattress feels great on my back,” Riley said. “The bed offers a lot of firm support that keeps my body lifted and props my spine into a neutral position. However, I found myself wishing there was just a bit more sinkage or cushioning at my bottom. Overall, I think most average-weight and heavy sleepers will feel comfortable in the back-sleeping position.”

However, side sleeping on the Loom & Leaf was a different story. While it wasn’t the worst mattress we’ve experienced for side sleepers, we wouldn’t recommend it to those with joint pain who sleep on their sides.

“This bed feels alright on my side, but I would prefer a touch more softness at my hips and shoulders,” Riley said. “This bed is pretty firm for an all-foam mattress, but there’s a bit of plush cushioning that offers some pressure relief. I think if you’re a side sleeper who prefers a firm feel, you’ll like this bed. But those with hip or shoulder pain may want a softer model.”

Saatva Loom & Leaf Motion Isolation

We assess motion isolation to determine how much movement travels across the surface of the mattress when someone tosses and turns. If you have a restless partner who keeps you up at night, you won’t want to skip over this section.

Riley and I measured the Loom & Leaf’s motion transfer using two different tests: the ripple test and partner test. Like many other memory foam mattresses, the Loom & Leaf did a great job of dampening motion. We gave it a near-perfect 4.5 out of 5 for motion isolation.

Ripple test: During this test, one tester gets on the bed next to a bin full of water and rolls around by it to see if it splashes or overflows. Overall, Riley was impressed with the Loom & Leaf’s performance during this test.

“I think the Loom & Leaf did a great job isolating my motion at the source and preventing it from traveling,” Riley said. “I could see a slight rippling in the bin when getting in and out of bed, but it never splashed or sloshed aggressively. At its worst, I saw a gentle sway.”

Partner test: For this test, two mattress testers lie next to each other. One tester wears a blindfold while the other gets in and out of bed and moves around. The blindfolded tester raises their thumb whenever they can feel movement. During this test, Riley could hardly detect my movements.

“When my coworker Kenny got in bed, I could feel the bed move,” Riley said. “However, his movements felt muffled while he rolled around next to me. It was evident that someone else was on the bed, but I don’t think it would have disrupted my sleep. I couldn’t tell when he got out of bed either, so I think light sleepers will be able to get uninterrupted sleep even if they have a restless partner.”

Saatva Loom & Leaf Responsiveness

Responsiveness is all about how quickly a mattress returns to its original form after you move on it. A snappy response time matters most for combination sleepers (people who change positions during the night) because a slow-to-respond bed can make switching sides feel like wading through quicksand.

While innerspring and hybrid mattresses tend to bounce back immediately, memory foam beds like the Loom & Leaf usually take a bit longer to return to their initial shape. Fortunately, the Loom & Leaf is the exception to this rule, earning a perfect 5 out of 5 in this category.

Switch test: For this test, one tester lies on the mattress and observes how challenging it is to switch between different sleeping positions. Despite the Loom & Leaf not being a super springy and bouncy mattress (it is a memory foam model, after all), it was still easy to maneuver on the surface. Since the mattress was so firm, I didn’t sink in enough to get stuck in its layers, and I was able to roll around and change between different sleeping positions to my heart’s content.

Responsiveness test: To measure the response time of the Saatva Loom & Leaf mattress, Riley and I placed a 53-pound kettlebell on the bed and let it sink in for seven seconds. Next, we removed the weight and recorded how long it took for the bed to recover.

It only took 1.9 seconds for the Loom & Leaf to snap back after removing the weight from it. Based on these results, we can assume that this bed returns to its original form quickly, especially for an all-foam model. Combination sleepers who prefer a memory foam feel should be able to change positions with little effort on the Loom & Leaf.

Sinkage test: For this test, we place the same 53-pound kettlebell on the mattress and use a ruler to measure the sinkage. We measured 3.5 inches of sinkage on the Loom & Leaf, which is about average and places it in the moderate sinkage category. To clarify, light sinkage is up to 2.5 inches, moderate sinkage ranges from 2.6 to 4 inches, and deep sinkage is 4.1 inches and up.

Saatva Loom Leaf Motion Isolation

Bounce test: We perform a bounce test to see how springy a mattress is. During this test, Riley climbed a ladder 6 feet above the mattress and dropped a 25-pound steel ball onto it. Meanwhile, a yardstick on the wall allowed her to measure how high the ball bounced. The ball bounced 18 inches on this mattress, which is slightly higher than the overall average of 15.8 inches and places the Loom & Leaf in the high bounce category. For context, low bounce refers to anything under 8 inches, moderate bounce ranges from 8 to 12 inches, and high bounce is above 12 inches.

Overall, the Saatva Loom & Leaf is surprisingly responsive for an all-foam mattress, with average sinkage and high bounce. While I wouldn’t say that the Loom & Leaf feels springy, combination sleepers who prefer a memory foam feel should find that this mattress is easy to move around on.

Saatva Loom & Leaf Cooling

If you tend to overheat at night, the right cooling mattress can make all the difference. Traditional memory foam mattresses are known for trapping heat, which can turn a restful night into a sweaty ordeal. That’s why we pay close attention to cooling features. We performed a series of hands-on cooling tests, detailed below, to evaluate the temperature regulation of the Loom & Leaf mattress. Perhaps unsurprisingly, we found that the Loom & Leaf performed only slightly above average in this category, earning a 3.5 out of 5 for cooling.

Thermal gun test: First, I used a thermal gun to measure the initial surface temperature of the Loom & Leaf mattress. Next, I lay on the Loom & Leaf for five minutes to see how much it would increase. After getting up and recording its temperature, I found that it increased from 70.6 degrees to 79.6 degrees. These results were hotter than the average of 7.14 degrees. While these aren’t the worst results I’ve ever seen, we found that the Loom & Leaf does retain more heat than other mattresses.

Cover test: I also placed my hands on the top cover to see if it felt cool to the touch. While the cover layer felt soft and breathable, it wasn’t noticeably cool. After lying on it, I touched it again and could feel that it had warmed up in the area where I lay.

Feel test: My final test was to lie on the Saatva Loom & Leaf and describe the firsthand cooling experience. As a hot sleeper, I didn’t feel too uncomfortable on this mattress, but I could tell that it was warming up beneath me. This test and the thermal gun test confirmed my initial suspicion that the memory foam layers would retain more heat.

Saatva Loom & Leaf Edge Support

Edge support refers to how well the perimeter of a mattress holds up under weight. A sturdy perimeter allows sleepers to sit or lie along the edges without feeling unsteady. Edge support is vital for couples, sleepers with heavier bodies, and folks who tend to use the entire surface of the bed. Overall, the Loom & Leaf had surprisingly solid edge support for an all-foam bed and earned a 3.8 out of 5 in this category.

Tape measure test: For the tape measure test, we stacked weights on top of each other directly atop the edge of the bed. Riley and I did this three times with different stacks of weights — a 99-pound stack, a 154-pound stack, and a 198-pound stack. We then used a tape measure to record the sinkage.

This test measures sinkage along the perimeter of a mattress when people of various body weights sit or lie along the edge. The 99-pound weight simulates a lightweight sleeper, while the 154-pound and 198-pound weights represent average-weight and heavyweight sleepers, respectively.

Riley and I found that the sinkage ranged from 4 inches for the lightest stack (representing lighter sleepers) to 5 inches for the average-weight stack and up to 6 inches for the heaviest stack. These measurements allowed us to predict how the mattress edge might perform for different body types. For context, our testers found that 3.7 inches is the average sinkage across all the mattresses we’ve tested.

Based on our test results, I predict that lightweight and average-weight sleepers will likely get a better balance of contouring and support on the Saatva Loom & Leaf mattress. In contrast, heavier sleepers may sink too far into its foam layers. However, the additional sinkage could benefit side sleepers with bigger bodies who need more contouring and pressure relief along their shoulders and hips.

Seated test: Riley and I sat on the sides and corners of the Saatva Loom & Leaf and stood up multiple times to see how easy it was to do so. During the seated test, Riley noted that this mattress did a great job of lifting her body and preventing her from sinking through the memory foam layers.

“I would give this mattress a perfect 5 out of 5 for its seated edge support,” Riley said. “I had to make sure that we were on an all-foam bed, because it offers the same edge support as the Saatva Classic, which has a coil-on-coil construction. I felt like I was sitting in a chair.”

Full body test: For this test, Riley and I took turns lying along the sides of the mattress in different sleeping positions. Both of us found that the Saatva Loom & Leaf offered robust support while lying along the edge.

“The edges feel just as supportive as the very center of the bed,” Riley said. “The Loom & Leaf offers exceptional support from edge to edge, providing firm lift no matter where you are on the mattress. I would be able to sleep right up to the edge every night without falling off or feeling unstable.”

Saatva Loom & Leaf Mattress Performance for Couples

The Saatva Loom & Leaf should be a good fit for couples who want the best of both worlds in terms of motion isolation and responsiveness. Couples with one partner who tosses and turns at night and another who is easily disturbed should find a happy balance on the Loom & Leaf, thanks to its 4.5 motion isolation score and perfect 5-star responsiveness score. However, I would not recommend this mattress to couples who tend to get hot at night, as its cooling performance was only about average.

Other Performance Factors to Consider

Despite covering a lot of ground in the tests above, there are still a few factors you should keep in mind before deciding to trade your old mattress for the Saatva Loom & Leaf.

Sex

The best mattresses for sex are responsive and easy to move around on. Responsive mattresses are typically ideal for sexually active couples because they won’t get trapped in their layers when moving around. After experiencing the Loom & Leaf’s 5-star responsiveness for myself, I can confidently say that this is a great mattress for sex.

Noise

During testing, we didn’t hear any noise coming from the Saatva Loom & Leaf mattress. As an all-foam bed with no springs or coils, it naturally minimizes sound, even when changing positions or getting in and out of bed. The Loom & Leaf is an excellent option for couples or light sleepers who prefer a dead-quiet sleep environment.

Base Compatibility

The Saatva Loom & Leaf is compatible with an adjustable base, and it bends without major issues when elevated. However, we did notice some bulkiness at the crease where the bed folds when testing it on our adjustable base here in the studio, which creates a bit of discomfort. The thick foam and plush topper bunched slightly in that area, which may be noticeable, especially when sitting upright for extended periods.

Durability

To calculate the Loom & Leaf’s durability score, we averaged its ratings for edge support, noise, and warranty coverage. Edge support plays a key role in long-term durability, as sturdy edges help prevent sagging over time. High-quality materials, such as those used in the Loom & Leaf, typically hold up better than cheaper foam mattresses, and a generous warranty offers insight into how long the manufacturer expects the mattress to perform.

With a 3.8-star edge support rating, 5 stars for noise (indicating no squeaks or creaks), and a 5-star warranty, the Loom & Leaf earns a solid durability score of 4.6 out of 5. That suggests it should hold up well for at least a decade for most sleepers.

Saatva Loom & Leaf Sleeping Position and Body Weight

Body weight has a significant impact on the feel of a mattress. As Dr. Shelby Harris, one of our medical advisors, puts it: “Lighter individuals typically experience mattresses as firmer compared to those with average or heavier body weights.”

To reflect this variability, we included expert testers from a range of body types — light, average, and heavy — in our evaluations. Each tester tried the Loom & Leaf mattress in all three sleep positions: back, side, and stomach. This approach enabled us to make recommendations that consider both body weight and sleep style.

Before we dive into our recommendations, though, we want to recognize that people come in all shapes and sizes, and people of every size deserve a mattress that works for their body type. We use the weight categories light, average, and heavy to more easily categorize sleepers based on how mattresses will perform for their body type, as most mattresses are designed for the group we call “average” (130 to 230 pounds).

As a general takeaway, lighter sleepers don’t require as much support as average-weight sleepers, and mattresses will tend to feel firmer to them. On the other hand, heavy sleepers tend to need more support than average-weight sleepers and sink into the mattress more. As far as sleeping positions go, side sleepers likely need a softer mattress while stomach sleepers usually need a firmer, more supportive one. Back sleepers are usually somewhere in the middle.

Is the Saatva Loom & Leaf a Good Mattress for Light Sleepers (Under 130 pounds)?

  • Light Back Sleepers – While these sleepers likely won’t feel any contouring around their hips and lower back, the Loom & Leaf’s firmer-than-average feel provides excellent support for light back sleepers without feeling overly rigid.
  • Light Side Sleepers – This mattress is probably not the best option for side sleepers in this category. Side sleepers with smaller bodies will not sink in enough to relieve pressure at the shoulders and hips.
  • Light Stomach Sleepers I think the Saatva Loom & Leaf is a great option for lightweight stomach sleepers. The firm surface keeps the hips elevated and promotes proper spinal alignment for these sleepers.
Saatva Loom Leaf Stomach1

Is the Saatva Loom & Leaf a Good Mattress for Average-Weight Sleepers (130–230 pounds)?

  • Average-Weight Back Sleepers – Thanks to the firmness of the Loom & Leaf’s layers of memory foam, average-weight back sleepers will likely get ample support and pressure relief, especially in the lumbar region.
  • Average-Weight Side Sleepers – I don’t think this mattress is the best fit for average-weight side sleepers. The firmer memory foam may create pressure buildup in the shoulders and hips.
  • Average-Weight Stomach Sleepers – The Loom & Leaf mattress’s firmness helps keep the midsection from sinking too deeply, which is important for stomach sleepers in this weight category.

Is the Saatva Loom & Leaf a Good Mattress for Heavy Sleepers (over 230 pounds)?

  • Heavy Back Sleepers – I think this mattress could work for back sleepers in this weight category, with some caveats. The Loom & Leaf should feel supportive, though heavier back sleepers may want more pushback from the core.
  • Heavy Side Sleepers – This mattress should feel a bit softer to these sleepers. I think side sleepers with bigger bodies could get better contouring from the Loom & Leaf mattress.
  • Heavy Stomach Sleepers – While it is firmer than your run-of-the-mill memory foam mattress, heavier stomach sleepers might find the top layers of the Loom & Leaf too soft for long-term alignment.

My Final Thoughts About the Saatva Loom & Leaf Mattress

Before you decide if the Saatva Loom & Leaf is the right fit, let’s review its pros and cons. No mattress works perfectly for everyone, and while the Loom & Leaf may be perfect for some sleepers, especially those who prefer a firmer memory foam feel, it won’t suit all preferences.

Who I Recommend the Saatva Loom & Leaf For

  • Couples looking for the perfect balance between motion isolation, responsiveness, and edge support.
  • Light-to-average-weight back sleepers and stomach sleepers should appreciate the support they get around their hips and lower back.
  • Combination sleepers who prefer a memory foam mattress.

Who I Don’t Recommend the Saatva Loom & Leaf For

  • Sleepers who tend to overheat at night.
  • Side sleepers with joint pain looking for extra cushioning and deep contouring.

Saatva Loom & Leaf vs. Competitors

Curious how the Saatva Loom & Leaf compares to other top-rated mattresses? If you’re still on the fence, seeing it side-by-side with leading competitors from other online brands might help you decide. Check out how the Loom & Leaf measures up below.

Saatva Loom & Leaf vs Nectar Classic

Like the Loom & Leaf, Nectar’s flagship mattress is an all-foam mattress. However, the Nectar Classic is softer than the Loom & Leaf, at 6.5 out of 10 on our firmness scale. The Nectar might be a better fit for folks seeking a more plush, traditional memory foam mattress.

  • Price: The Nectar Classic is much cheaper than the Loom & Leaf at $1,598 for a queen-sized mattress before any promotions. It also frequently goes on sale for under $1,000.
  • Sleeping position: The supportive feel of the Loom & Leaf makes it a better choice for back and stomach sleepers. However, side sleepers will likely prefer the softer memory foam of the Nectar Classic.
  • Cooling: The Nectar Classic outperforms the Saatva Loom & Leaf in temperature regulation, earning a 4.5 out of 5 overall in the cooling category.
  • Body weight: The Loom & Leaf provides a stronger surface for sleepers over 230 pounds. However, the Nectar Classic is a better choice for sleepers under 130 pounds. Both mattresses should work well for average-weight sleepers.

Saatva Loom & Leaf vs Brooklyn Bedding Plank Firm

The Plank Firm is a flippable, all-foam mattress with two firmness options: firm and extra-firm. The firm side feels comparable to the Loom & Leaf, while the extra-firm side rates a 9 out of 10 on the firmness scale, which is significantly firmer than the Loom & Leaf.

  • Price: The Plank Firm is much cheaper than the Loom & Leaf, starting at $1,332 for a queen-sized mattress.
  • Sleeping position: Both mattresses are good options for back and stomach sleepers. I would not recommend either mattress to side sleepers.
  • Cooling: The extra-firm side of the Plank mattress outperformed the Loom & Leaf in cooling. However, the standard firm side showed a weaker performance in this category.
  • Body weight: Both mattresses could be a good fit for average-weight sleepers and folks over 230 pounds. However, I would not recommend either mattress to sleepers under 130 pounds.

Brooklyn Bedding Plank Firm Mattress

The Plank mattress is an all-foam, flippable mattress with a firm side and an extra-firm side, which makes it great for both back sleepers and stomach sleepers. Both sides of the mattress should provide stomach sleepers with the right amount of support needed, while back sleepers will be happiest on the firm side.

This is my 4th foam mattress. Lasting firmness is one of the challenges I have come across with the mattresses. This is the most firm I have purchased and after a few weeks, I am still happy.

Other Models From Saatva

Saatva offers a range of mattresses designed to suit different sleep styles, preferences, and budgets. If you’re considering the Loom & Leaf but aren’t quite sure it’s the perfect fit, comparing it to other Saatva models can help you find the right match. Below, we break down how the Loom & Leaf stacks up against two of its closest siblings.

Saatva Loom & Leaf vs Saatva Classic

The Saatva Classic is a traditional innerspring mattress with a coil-on-coil design that offers a similar firmness to the Loom & Leaf — both land at around 7.5 out of 10 on our firmness scale.

  • Price: The Classic is more affordable, starting at $2,099 for a queen-sized mattress.
  • Sleeping position: Both mattresses work well for back and stomach sleepers, but the Classic may offer slightly more contouring for side sleepers due to its plush Euro pillow top.
  • Cooling: Thanks to its breathable coil layers, the Classic sleeps cooler than the all-foam Loom & Leaf.
  • Body weight: The Classic provides strong support for all body types, including heavier sleepers.

Saatva Classic

The Saatva’s coil-on-coil construction provides a classic innerspring feel. It’s a good option for combo sleepers, who will want to feel free to switch positions and avoid feeling “stuck” in the mattress. It comes in three firmness levels, so you should be able to find one that suits your needs.

We were skeptical of buying a mattress on line but it could not have gone any smoother. Anthony answered all of our questions during our many phone conversations. Delivery was prompt and went without a hitch. Best of all the mattress is so comfortable! I haven’t had such a good night sleep in years. Highly recommend this.

Saatva Loom & Leaf vs Saatva Contour5

The Contour5 is a softer memory foam model from Saatva, at 6.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale. It shares the all-foam design of the Loom & Leaf but offers a more traditional, slow-moving feel.

  • Price: Both mattresses are priced the same.
  • Sleeping position: Side sleepers may prefer the Contour5’s softer surface for better relief at pressure points, such as the hips and shoulders. Back and stomach sleepers, on the other hand, will likely find the firmer Loom & Leaf more supportive.
  • Cooling: While both mattresses retain some heat due to their foam construction, the Contour5 performed better on our cooling tests than the Loom & Leaf.
  • Body weight: The Contour5 may be a better fit for lighter sleepers who prefer more sink-in comfort, while the Loom & Leaf offers more robust support for average-weight and heavier individuals.

Our Review Process

At Sleepopolis, our team of certified sleep science coaches personally test each mattress. We start by unboxing the mattress to figure out how difficult (or easy) it is to get the mattress from the box to the bed. Then, we spend time lying on the bed in different positions, taking time to assess it on our backs, stomachs, and sides. Next, we perform our Sleepopolis tests, using specialized tools to measure qualities like motion transfer, bounce, and pressure relief. Our last step is to open up the mattress and take a look at each layer. These steps allow us to give our final verdict on the mattress.

Saatva Loom & Leaf FAQs

What is the difference between the Saatva Classic and Loom & Leaf mattress?

How long will a Loom & Leaf mattress last?

The Loom & Leaf is built with high-density memory foam and durable materials, so it should last around 10 years or more with proper care. Saatva also backs it with a lifetime warranty, which reflects its expected longevity.

What level of firmness is the Saatva Loom & Leaf?

The Loom & Leaf is a firmer-than-average mattress, rating around 7.5 out of 10 on our firmness scale. It’s best suited for back and stomach sleepers who prefer a more supportive feel.
