Though both the Puffy Cloud and Nectar are memory foam mattresses, that doesn’t mean they’re built the same. In fact, they actually have pretty distinct construction profiles. So, let’s discuss a few of my biggest takeaways.Main Similarities
- Both mattresses have all-foam constructions and have layers of memory foam to provide some contouring and sinkage.
- Both the Nectar and the Puffy Cloud come at similar and affordable price points.
- Though both mattresses have cooling features to help mitigate the heat trapping tendencies of memory foam, I wouldn’t say either one sleeps especially cool.
- These mattresses don’t have the best edge support. If you’re looking for a bed with strong edge support I’d recommend a hybrid mattress or innerspring mattress.
Main Differences
- The Nectar provides a bit more sinkage. The Nectar has more memory foam than the Puffy Cloud so you’ll have a more classic memory foam contouring feel.
- The Puffy Cloud has a more supportive feel and is a bit more responsive than the Nectar.
- The Nectar absorbs motion better than the Puffy Cloud, which means you’ll feel less movement from one side of the bed on the other.

Below, I’m going to do my best to paint a snapshot of each bed’s unique vibe by considering factors like firmness, pressure relief, motion transfer, sinkage, and more. But before we do that, a small note to say that all feel factors are subjective and can change a lot depending on one’s body size, shape, and weight. The Puffy Cloud is a medium-soft to medium-firm mattress that I’d rank at a 6/10 on the firmness scale with 1 being the softest mattress in the world and 10 being the firmest. When compared to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness, it seems this bed is right between soft and firm.

The Nectar is also on the slightly softer side of things at a 6/10 on the firmness scale.
Comparing What it’s Like to Sleep on the Puffy Cloud and the Nectar
When choosing a mattress, it’s important to keep in mind that our body type and primary sleeping position can dictate our experience on a bed. A light person who sleeps on their back and a heavy person who sleeps on their side could lay on the same mattress and think it feels radically different! So here I’ll go over how I think different sleepers will experience the Nectar and Puffy Cloud.Puffy Cloud
Back — Back sleepers in the light to average weight groups should be happy on the Puffy Cloud! They should experience solid support combined with pressure relief around the lower back. Heavier back sleepers probably won’t get enough support from the Puffy Cloud to maintain their spinal alignment. Side — For slumbering on your side, light and average weight folks will be good on the Puffy Cloud as well! It’s easy to sink into this mattress and get some excellent pressure relief. However, heavier sleepers will likely sink in a bit too much to get proper support on the Puffy Cloud.
Nectar
Back — The Nectar is a comfortable mattress for light to average weight back sleepers! For the lighter folks, the Nectar should feel medium-firm to firm and offer lots of support. For average weight sleepers, it’ll probably feel more like a medium-soft/medium-firm mattress and they should experience some body-contouring around the lower back. However, the Nectar isn’t supportive enough for heavy back sleepers.

This material has a slow response to pressure, providing plenty of space for the sleeper to sink in for deep pressure relief at the shoulders, hips, and lower back. And as we discussed above, the gel infusion helps to counteract memory foam’s tendency to absorb and trap body heat. Transition Layer – Under the first layer of memory foam lies a section of firm transition foam. Well folks, we’ve officially arrived at the end of this guide, which means it’s time to wrap things up with a few final thoughts (and recommendations!) from me. First and foremost, I think the Nectar is going to be the best bet for folks after deep pressure relief at the shoulders, hips, and lower back. While both mattresses use memory foam to alleviate tension at these sensitive spots, the Nectar does a slightly better job of cushioning these joints. In general, I’d say that this model could be a real winner for strict side sleepers or folks looking to find a mattress for fibromyalgia or arthritis.
