What Is the TEMPUR-Cloud Mattress Topper Made Of?
Cover – The TEMPUR-Cloud mattress topper features a lightweight and breathable cover. The cover and the foam come separated out of the box, and I found putting it on quite challenging. The cover is just a smidge too big for the memory foam topper, giving it an awkward fit and baggy appearance. Fortunately, this shouldn’t be an issue after putting your sheets on your bed. The cover is also machine washable.
Fill – The real magic of any mattress topper lies in its fill. While the TEMPUR-Cloud promises to shine, it only offers a slight sparkle. That’s not to say this mattress topper is uncomfortable or low-quality. The good news is that Tempur-Pedic’s toppers feature the same one-of-a-kind memory foam technology the brand is known for. The 2-inch layer of memory foam responds to your weight and shape and is comfortable to lay on. However, don’t expect any extra features for its hefty price tag.
How Does the TEMPUR-Cloud Mattress Topper Feel?
My colleague and I tested the TEMPUR-Cloud mattress topper by laying on it in different sleeping positions and seeing how it responded to our bodies.
I found the TEMPUR-Cloud mattress topper to be incredibly soft and cushiony. When I laid down on it, the topper allowed me to sink in comfortably, creating a deep, plush feel that conformed to my body. When I pressed my hand into the mattress topper, I saw my handprint remain visible for a moment before it slowly reshaped itself. I think this mattress topper is definitely on the squishier side and offers a lot of sinkage and excellent contouring.
Similarly, my colleague thought the TEMPUR-Cloud felt quite soft. She was impressed with how it gently cradled her body and provided effective pressure relief, especially around sensitive areas like the back and joints. She also noted excellent pressure relief around her lower lumbar and that it eased some of her back pain.

Who I Recommend the TEMPUR-Cloud Mattress Topper For
- Sleepers experiencing back pain should love the TEMPUR-Cloud mattress topper. My colleague, who suffers from chronic back pain, noted that it offered good support and pressure relief around her lower lumbar spine.
- Strict side sleepers and sensitive joints should enjoy sleeping on the TEMPUR-Cloud topper. This mattress topper should help these sleepers find more pressure relief around their shoulders and hips.
- Stomach sleepers who feel they aren’t getting enough support around their hips should try this mattress topper. As a stomach sleeper myself, I felt like this mattress topper lifted my hips a little more so that my spine would stay aligned. I could see this mattress topper helping strict stomach sleepers with saggy mattresses that cause them to wake up in pain.
Who I Don’t Recommend the TEMPUR-Cloud Mattress Topper For
- I think the TEMPUR-Cloud mattress topper is too soft for combination sleepers. Combination sleepers need a responsive surface to change between sleeping positions at night, and they would likely struggle to move around given the Cloud’s plushness.
- I wouldn’t recommend this mattress topper to shoppers on a budget, especially knowing that they will not get any extras or special features out of the box.
