The mattress and bedding company Nectar Sleep says it was founded to start a “sleep revolution.” The company launched in 2017 and has since grown to being one of the most popular bed-in-a-box brands on the market.
In this Nectar mattress comparison, I want to compare the company’s three all-foam mattresses: the Nectar, the Nectar Premier, and the Nectar Premier Copper. I’ll briefly describe the models, highlight their features, and provide links to full reviews of each bed.
While there are key differences in these beds, there are also a bit of similarities, so let’s start by going over those. In a hurry? Skip past my full Nectar comparisons and down to my review summary.

Nectar Mattress Similarities
As I mentioned at the beginning, there are currently three mattresses in Nectar’s all-foam line. Though they all have distinct materials and feels, their overall designs are pretty similar. So, let’s look at some of the components in each mattress.
- Foam Build – Each of these three mattresses are made up of three layers (plus a cover) and are all-foam. While the amount and type of foam may differ between the beds, they all offer sinkage and pressure relief for sleepers.
- Cooling – Typically, all-foam mattresses are known to trap body heat. However, the Nectar mattresses all have cooling components within them — including a quilted cooling cover. This is great for hot sleepers out there and for couples (as two people tend to overheat more than one). However, as you’ll see as you keep reading this review, some are going to sleep cooler than others.
- Pressure Relief – Strong pressure relief is definitely a perk of these Nectar beds. Their soft foams conform to sleepers’ bodies and bring comfort.
- Shipping – These Nectars are all bed-in-a-box mattresses, which means they ship compressed in a box. You’ll have to unbox your mattress at home and allow about 24 to 48 hours for it to fully decompress and release any packing smells. They all ship for free.
- Trial Period/Warranty – These beds all come with a 365-night trial period and a lifetime warranty.

Nectar vs. Nectar Premier vs. Nectar Premier Copper
Now that we’ve covered what these beds have in common, let’s go over each bed separately.
Nectar
This is the most affordable bed in the Nectar line, making it a great pick for budget shoppers. The 12-inch Nectar has a doughy, soft foam feel — which makes it a great choice for anyone with sensitive joints.

Construction Specs:
- Cover – A quilted cooling cover that’s a poly-blend and heat wicking.
- Comfort layer – A 2-inch layer of gel-infused memory foam. This is great for hot sleepers and to provide contouring.
- Transition layer – A 3-inch dynamic foam support layer to keep sleepers supported.
- Support layer – A 7-inch layer of foam to stabilize the bed.
The Nectar Classic has always had a 12-inch profile, but recently changed the thickness of its different foam layers.
Firmness: 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale. When compared to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness, this is right around medium-firm with being a touch softer than average.
Motion Transfer: Low motion transfer, which means the bed does a great job of stopping movement from traveling from one side to the other. This is ideal for anyone who shares the bed with a partner or pet.
Edge Support: Edge support is how well the perimeter of a mattress supports weight, so it’s nice for couples who want to use the full surface of the bed or for anyone who likes to sit or sleep near the edge of the mattress. The Nectar has decent edge support for an all-foam bed, so you shouldn’t feel like you’re about to fall off.
Pressure Relief: The layers of foam offer nice pressure relief to the shoulders, hips, and lower back.
Hybrid Model: You can upgrade to the Nectar Hybrid mattress, which has coils for added support and airflow. It has a bouncier and a touch firmer of a feel than its all-foam version. Read the full Nectar Hybrid mattress review for more details.
I’d recommend the Nectar for back sleepers and side sleepers. These sleepers will appreciate the pressure relief around their joints. I’d also suggest anyone looking for the best cheap mattress to check the Nectar out.

Nectar Premier
The upgrade to the Nectar is the 13-inch Nectar Premier. It brings extra cooling materials and support for sleepers.

Construction Specs:
- Cover – A quilted cooling cover that’s a poly-blend and heat wicking.
- Comfort layer – A 3-inch layer of gel-infused memory foam with Phase Change Material. Phase Change Material helps dissipate body heat and keep sleepers extra cool.
- Transition layer – A 3-inch dynamic foam support layer to bring added pressure relief and motion isolation.
- Support layer – A 7-inch layer of foam to stabilize the bed.
Firmness: 6/10 on the firmness scale. Like the Nectar, this bed is right around medium-soft to medium-firm.
Motion Transfer: The bed’s transfer motion is similar to the abilities of the Nectar, meaning it does a great job keeping you from being disturbed by your partner’s movements.
Edge Support: The Nectar Premier has slightly stronger edge support than the Nectar, so it does a better job bearing weight along its perimeter.
Pressure Relief: The Nectar Premier provides slightly stronger pressure relief than the Nectar due to its extra inch of foam.
Hybrid Model: You can upgrade to the Nectar Premier Hybrid mattress, which has coils for added support and airflow. It has a different feel than the Premier all-foam model and is more responsive. Check out the full Nectar Premier Hybrid mattress review for all the details.
I’d recommend the Nectar Premier for back sleepers, side sleepers, and hot sleepers looking for deeper contouring.

Nectar Premier Copper
The 14-inch Nectar Premier Copper is labeled as the brand’s tallest, coolest, and most supportive all-foam model, so it’s a great choice for anyone looking for more durability and pressure relief. Here, you’ll find even more cooling materials and a firmer, slower-moving foam than what’s in the other two beds.

Construction Specs:
- Cover – A quilted cooling cover with polyethylene and copper fibers. These fibers promote airflow and prevent body heat from trapping.
- Comfort layer – A 4-inch layer of gel-infused memory foam with Phase Change Material. This helps dissipate body heat and keep sleepers cooler than the other two beds.
- Transition layer – A 3-inch dynamic foam support layer to bring added pressure relief and motion isolation.
- Support layer – A 7-inch layer of foam to stabilize the bed.
Firmness: 7/10 on the firmness scale. When compared to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness, this bed is a touch firmer than average and the firmest of the three all-foam Nectar mattresses.
Motion Transfer: The extra inch of memory foam helps absorb movement, which makes it the best of the three for isolation motion.
Edge Support: The Nectar Premier Copper has similar edge support to the Nectar Premier, so it does a pretty good job keeping sleepers supported on the edge of the bed.
Pressure Relief: This mattress does a nice job relieving pressure and slowly forms around sensitive joints.
Hybrid Model: You can upgrade to the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid mattress, which has coils for added support and airflow. The hybrid model has much faster moving foam and a softer feel than the all-foam version. See the full Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid mattress review for more information.
I think the Nectar Premier Copper could be a great pick for back sleepers, side sleepers, couples, heavier sleepers, and hot sleepers.

Nectar Mattress Review Summary
The line of all-foam mattresses from Nectar are all great picks for back sleepers, side sleepers, and hot sleepers. Looking at them more specifically, I think the Nectar’s the best pick for budget shoppers, the Nectar Premier’s a good pick for couples wanting a more luxurious upgrade, and the Nectar Premier Copper’s a nice choice for heavier sleepers, some stomach sleepers, hot sleepers, and anyone looking for the most upgraded option.
Which Nectar Mattress is Best for You?
Back Sleepers — I think back sleepers would be happy on all three of these mattresses.
Side Sleepers — Similarly, I think side sleepers would do well on all three of these beds. However, any side sleepers looking for a softer option should opt for the Nectar or Nectar Premier.
Stomach Sleepers — I don’t think any of these beds are especially great for stomach sleepers, but stomach sleepers weighing under 130 pounds could do well on the Nectar Premier Copper.
Combination Sleepers — If you switch between multiple sleeping positions at night, the Nectar and Nectar Premier may be better options for you.
Heavy Sleepers — If you’re over 250 pounds, I’d recommend going with the Nectar Premier Copper. This bed is the most supportive option of three. However, I’d also suggest taking a look at some of our best mattresses for heavy people for more options.

FAQs
Do Nectar mattresses need a box spring?
No, you don’t need one with these beds. Nectar says any hard flat surface will work. You can also use a slatted bed frame or adjustable base.
Can you flip a Nectar mattress?
Nectar mattresses are designed from the top down, so you cannot flip them. Instead, I’d suggest rotating your bed 180 degrees about twice a year to help prolong its lifespan.
Do the Nectar mattresses come with a sleep trial?
Yes, all Nectar mattresses come with a 365-night trial period.
How long is the Nectar mattress warranty?
Nectar offers a lifetime warranty or as the company likes to call it, a forever warranty.
Do Nectar mattresses have an off-gassing period?
Yes, all Nectar mattresses will have an off-gassing period after they’re unboxed. I would recommend waiting at least 24 to 48 hours before using these mattresses.
Nectar Vs.
Now that we’ve gone over all the all-foam Nectar mattresses, let’s see how they stack up against the competition. Below, I’m going to compare the Nectars to two of its biggest competitors on the online mattress market: Purple and Casper.
Purple
- Purple is another popular online bedding brand that sells several mattresses, including the flagship Purple mattress.
- Purple’s known for its Hyper-Elastic Polymer comfort grid, which is purple in color and stretchy, bouncy, and pressure-relieving in feel.
- Purple mattresses tend to be responsive, pressure relieving, and cooling.
- The Purple hybrid mattresses not only have the polymer comfort grid, but also pocketed coils beneath it for an even bouncier vibe.

- The brand also has a few hybrid models, including the Casper Hybrid, the Casper Nova Hybrid, and the Casper Wave Hybrid.
- In general, Casper beds offer good mobility, excellent pressure relief, and all-around solid support.
