Tempur-Pedic has long been well known for their memory foam mattresses and in recent years, their memory foam pillows have gained popularity too. Most of these pillows are made with a block of TEMPUR material foam, but with the TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable pillow, Tempur-Pedic has switched it up by using shredded memory foam.

I personally tested this shredded foam fill pillow and in this review, I’ll go over what it’s made of, how it feels, and who it’s best for. Keep on reading to find out if this is the best pillow for you.

Is the TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable Pillow a Good Pillow for You?

Everyone has different wants and needs in a pillow, so let’s go over who I think the TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable pillow is good for.

The TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable pillow.

Who should try the TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable pillow

  • If you want a customizable pillow, the TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable is a good option. You can remove some fill to lower the loft and adjust the pillow to the right height for you.
  • If you like memory foam pillows but also like your pillow to be somewhat moldable, the TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable is a great choice. The shredded fill allows you to shape the pillow around you as you please.
  • If you’re a back sleeper or side sleeper, I think the TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable pillow will be comfortable for you.

Who should not try the TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable pillow

  • I would not recommend the TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable pillow to stomach sleepers. While technically you could remove some fill to get the loft low enough for stomach sleeping, I think you’d end up removing most of the fill, so it may be more worthwhile to buy a different pillow.
  • If you like things to be ready to use right out of the box, you might not like having to test adding or removing foam fill to achieve a comfortable loft with the TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable.
  • If you want a king size pillow, the TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable isn’t a good choice, as it only comes in a queen size/standard size.

What Does the TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable Pillow Feel Like?

As I discuss what I thought this pillow felt like, keep in mind that feel is subjective, so you may have a different sleep experience than I did.

TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable Pillow Firmness

When it comes to pillow firmness, I rate pillows as either soft, medium, or firm. Each sleeping position generally is most comfortable with a different firmness, although there is some variation. For back sleepers, a medium firmness is usually best. For side sleepers, I recommend a firmer pillow. And for stomach sleepers, I recommend a softer pillow.

This pillow has a medium feel.

Overall, I thought the TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable pillow had a medium firmness. The shredded foam fill allows for your head to sink in a bit, and because it’s a more malleable fill than a solid block of foam, you can mold the pillow around you quite cozily. However, the foam still provides a good amount of support, keeping your head and neck nicely elevated.

TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable Pillow Loft

Like firmness, each sleeping position is best suited to a different pillow loft. Loft refers to the height of a pillow and I rate them as either low, medium, or high. Back sleepers are best with a medium loft, side sleepers with a high loft, and stomach sleepers with a low loft.

The TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable pillow’s loft can be adjusted by adding or removing shredded foam fill. Without removing any fill, I would say it has a high loft. You may need to test different fill levels to find the right one for you. Keep in mind that it can take up to two weeks to adjust to a new pillow, so give yourself plenty of time.

Now let’s go over my experience with this pillow in each sleeping position.

Side — I think the TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable pillow is a good choice for side sleepers. The loft is fairly high as is, so most side sleepers won’t need to remove any fill. And while it is more of a medium feel than the firm that I usually advise for side sleepers, I still found the foam supportive enough for side sleeping

Back — The TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable pillow is a great option for back sleepers. I think the medium firmness is exactly what back sleepers need support-wise. As far as the loft, I would recommend back sleepers remove some of the foam fill, as it is a bit high. However, you can test different levels to find the right loft for you.

Stomach — I don’t think the TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable pillow is the best for stomach sleepers. While you could remove a significant amount of fill to get the loft low enough to prevent your neck from craning, I don’t think the pillow would really be worth the money at that point.

Under the Arm — I think the TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable is a great pillow for sleeping with under your arm. The moldability of the shredded foam fill makes it a very huggable pillow.

Between the Legs — The TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable pillow can also work well for sleeping with between your legs. I would definitely remove some of the fill so it isn’t too tall to maintain your hip alignment, but the foam should allow for lots of contouring around your legs.

What is the TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable Pillow Made Of?

Outer Cover: The TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable pillow has a polyester knit cover that’s treated with an antimicrobial finish. It’s a removable cover that is also machine washable.

Liner: The inner liner, which holds the shredded foam fill, is made from polyester netting.

Fill: The fill of the TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable pillow is shredded TEMPUR material foam. The fill is a blend of three different proprietary Tempur-Pedic foams, which Tempur-Pedic calls their TEMPUR Blend fill: Plush Comfort foam, Premium Support foam, and Pressure Relief foam.

The Plush Comfort foam has an open-cell structure to make it more breathable. The Premium Support foam has a high density to provide support and prevent the pillow from going flat. And the Pressure Relief foam adapts to the sleeper’s shape to relieve pressure.

Is the TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable Pillow Good for Hot Sleepers?

If you’re a hot sleeper, having the right bedding to keep you cool can be the key to a good night’s sleep. Overall, I think the TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable pillow is a fairly temperature neutral pillow. Memory foam has a strong tendency to trap body heat, as that is what allows it to mold and contour around you. However, the shredded foam fill in this pillow allows for more airflow and prevents hot air from being trapped as easily as a memory foam block.

Basically, it’s not a super cool pillow but it’ll be less toasty than other memory foam pillows with a solid core. If you want to see more cooling options, take a look at our best cooling pillows and our best cooling sheets.

My Final Thoughts About the TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable Pillow

The TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable pillow is a great option for back and side sleepers. With a shredded foam fill that allows you to adjust the loft, it can be customized to your exact preferences. And the fill offers enough support to maintain spinal alignment while still allowing for conforming and contouring to provide pressure relief. The shredded fill also allows for more airflow within the pillow, keeping it temperature neutral.

The TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable pillow.

Additionally, the TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable pillow has a removable, machine washable pillow cover. And it is one of the least expensive pillows from the brand, so it’s a good option for budget shoppers interested in purchasing a Tempur-Pedic pillow.

However, I didn’t think this pillow was a great option for stomach sleepers. While the foam does compress underneath you, I think you’d have to remove a sizable chunk of foam fill to get the loft low enough for stomach sleeping. I’d opt for a different pillow with a soft feel and lower loft if you’re a stomach sleeper. A soft pillow will prevent your neck from craning upwards. TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable Pillow vs Puffy Pillow

Sleeping on the Puffy pillow.
  • The Puffy pillow is also a shredded foam fill pillow that can be adjusted to lower or raise the loft. It has a slightly firmer feel than the TEMPUR-Cloud Adjustable pillow, as the foam is more compressed inside the pillow.
  • It can work for all three sleeping positions — side, back, and stomach.
  • The Puffy also has a machine washable cover; theirs is made from a blend of bamboo rayon and polyester.

  • The Coop Eden, from Coop Home Goods, is another shredded foam pillow. It has a washable cover that’s made from a blend of polyester and bamboo rayon.
  • The fill of the Coop Eden is a mix of cross-cut, gel-infused memory foam and microfiber fill. The cooling gel infusions in the foam help to draw heat away from the body, making this pillow a good option for hot sleepers.
