The Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed sheets have a crisp and breathable feel.

What are the Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed Sheets Made Of?

It’s important to understand what material a sheet is made of in order to decide if it will be a good choice for you. Sheets can be made of cotton, bamboo, linen, and a wide variety of other textiles.

The Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed sheets are made from 100 percent organic cotton. They are made of long-staple cotton, which means the fibers of the cotton are longer and less likely to stick out. That reduces the likelihood of pilling and ensures a smooth sheet.

As the name implies, these sheets are made with a percale weave. Percale is a one-over-one-under weave that creates a crisp, breathable, and lightweight fabric. Percale cotton sheets also have a matte finish, meaning they aren’t shiny.

A unique design feature of this sheet set is the long hemlines on the flat sheet and pillowcase. The hems of both pieces are seven inches, which is considerably longer than average. That ensures a great fit, particularly on the pillowcases, as there is some variation in pillow sizes. The longer hemline means your pillow won’t be sticking out of the case if it’s a little larger than average.

Additionally, the fitted sheet has deep pockets — 17 inches — which should be enough to fit around even the tallest of mattresses. The fitted sheet also has an extra-durable elastic to prevent the sheet from coming off the bed.

A set of the Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed sheets includes one flat sheet, one fitted sheet, and two pillowcases (except the twin and twin XL, which only include one pillowcase). These sheets are available in eight different sizes, including:

  • Twin
  • Twin XL
  • Full
  • Queen
  • King
  • King with standard cases
  • California king
  • Split king (comes with two fitted sheets)

The Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed sheets also have several certifications, including being OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certified and Fair Trade certified. The cotton used in these sheets is Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified to be organic.

What Do the Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed Sheets Feel Like?

These sheets definitely feel like percale. They are quite crisp and structured, much like a freshly starched collared shirt. In fact, I thought these were among the crispest percale sheets I’ve tested. If you’re a lover of crisp sheets, these could be great for you. But if you love an ultra-soft feel, these could feel somewhat brittle to you.

Additionally, I thought the Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed sheets felt quite smooth and cool. I also liked the use of the longer hemlines, as it gave me lots of fitted sheet to snuggle up with and ensured my pillows were completely covered by the pillowcase.

A fun perk about Boll & Branch is that if you want to feel these sheets before buying, you can order a fabric swatch of their percale sheets for free!

Are the Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed Sheets Good for Hot Sleepers?

I thought these sheets were quite breathable, making them a great option for hot sleepers. Percale cotton sheets are a good choice in general if you sleep warm, as the one-over-one-under weave allows for lots of air circulation. That keeps the sheets breezy and cool instead of trapping your body heat in with you.

How Durable are Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed Sheets?

Overall, I thought these sheets felt quite high-quality and durable. They felt well-made, particularly with the attention to detail at the hemlines and elastic on the fitted sheet. Additionally, the use of long-staple cotton should ensure good quality over time, as longer cotton fibers are less likely to pill

Do the Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed Sheets Stay on the Bed?

The Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed sheets stayed on the bed, with no issue for me. The deep pockets were easily large enough to fit around the mattress I tested with, which was averagely sized. If you have a particularly short bed, you may have to tuck some excess fabric underneath the mattress.

Are Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed Sheets Good for You?

Now, my final thoughts on the Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed sheet set.

Who should try Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed sheets

  • If you love a super crisp sheet, the Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed sheets’ feel should really appeal to you, as they are among the crispest sheets I’ve tested.
  • If you are a hot sleeper, the breathable percale weave used in these sheets should keep you nice and cool.
  • If you have a tall mattress or mattress topper, these sheets should fit on your bed without issue, as they feature 17 inch pockets.

Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed sheets complaints

  • If you’re looking for an ultra-soft feel, these sheets might not be right for you. Some customer reviews complained about these sheets not being soft enough. Personally, I found them smooth but not overly soft, so you may be disappointed with these if soft is what you are after.
  • If you want to test before committing, these also might not be the best option for you, as Boll & Branch does not offer a sleep trial with these sheets. They do offer free returns for a full refund, but the sheets must be in their original packaging.
  • If you want wrinkle-free sheets, you might be frustrated with these. I found they wrinkled very easily, so be sure to fold nicely and iron if you want to avoid wrinkles.

Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed Sheets Vs

If you are still trying to decide, let me help you out with some quick comparisons. Below, I’ll compare the Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed sheets to another set of Boll & Branch sheets, as well as to some competitors.

Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed Sheets vs Boll & Branch Signature Hemmed Sheets

  • The Boll & Branch Signature Hemmed sheets are also made with 100 percent long-staple organic cotton, like the percale. They also feature the seven inch hems and 17 inch pockets on the fitted sheet.
  • What’s different is these sheets are made with a sateen weave. Sateen is usually made with a three or four-over-one-under weave, as opposed to percale’s one-over-one-under weave. Sateen is shinier, thicker, and offers a softer, more satiny feel. Learn more about sateen vs percale.
  • This sateen sheet set offers a much softer, more buttery feel than the percale one.

  • Brooklinen’s Classic Core sheets are also made from 100 percent long-staple cotton. They have a 270-thread count and are made with a percale weave.
  • Brooklinen’s percale sheets have a lightweight, crisp, and breathable feel, but are simultaneously soft and buttery. These are some of the softest percale sheets I have tested.
  • Brooklinen also offers their sheets in a much wider variety of color and pattern options than Boll & Branch.
