Brooklinen is well known for their many different sheets, such as their percale Classic Core sheet set or their sateen Luxe Core sheet set, but in this Brooklinen sheets review, I’ll be discussing the Linen Core sheet set.
Will this linen sheet set live up to the Brooklinen hype? Could they be some of the best linen sheets I’ve tested? You’ll have to keep reading to find out. Or you can always skip to the end for my review summary.

What are the Brooklinen Linen Sheets Made Of?
Sheets are made with a variety of materials and weaves, such as bamboo or cotton sheets, but these sheets from Brooklinen are 100 percent linen made from European flax. Flax is a plant whose fibers are used to create linen yarn — you also might be familiar with flaxseed if you’re into health foods.
The Brooklinen Linen sheets are individually garment dyed in small batches and are made in Portugal. They are also stonewashed to soften the linen fabric. Additionally, they are OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certified for chemical safety.
Linen is generally made with a very loose weave and low thread count, making it a light and breathable fabric. However, linen is great for temperature regulation, so it can work well to keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
Because it has a looser weave, linen also has a more textured feel than a percale weave or sateen weave. However, linen tends to get softer over time the more you wash it. Sometimes linen sheets are garment washed in manufacturing to boost softness and smoothness, as linen can feel coarse at first.
The Brooklinen Linen sheets are available in six different sizes: twin, twin XL, full, queen, king, and California king. If you purchase the Linen Core Sheet Set, you’ll receive one flat sheet, one fitted sheet, and two pillowcases. Brooklinen does sell other bundles of linen bedding, including:
- The Starter set (one fitted sheet and two pillowcases)
- The Split King set (two fitted sheets, one flat sheet, and two pillowcases)
- The Hardcore set (one fitted sheet, one flat sheet, four pillowcases, and one duvet cover) — read our full Brooklinen Hardcore Linen bedding bundle review
- The Move-In set (one fitted sheet, one flat sheet, four pillowcases, one duvet cover, two pillows, and one comforter)
What Do the Brooklinen Linen Sheets Feel Like?
These sheets felt exactly how they looked to me: very classic linen. They have a somewhat textured feel, as they have a loose weave. This also makes them super breathable, which I could immediately feel when I laid under them. These are great for getting maximum airflow in your bed, as they are so light and airy.
Out of the box, these sheets have a slightly scratchy feel, but they should get softer over time the more you wash them, so I would toss them in the wash if they aren’t quite soft enough when you first receive them.
Are the Brooklinen Linen Sheets Good for Hot Sleepers?
I think the Brooklinen Linen Core sheets are fantastic for hot sleepers. The linen is very lightweight and because of the loose weave, it is very breathable. I felt very comfortable and didn’t experience any overheating while lying under the top sheet.

How Durable are Brooklinen Linen Sheets?
Linen is a super durable material and these sheets feel very high-quality, so I think they will hold up well over time. Brooklinen’s linen sheets are made with 100 percent linen, so you know you are getting a good quality product.
However, to ensure the best quality for your sheets, be sure to follow the proper care instructions provided by Brooklinen.
Do the Brooklinen Linen Sheets Stay on the Bed?
These sheets don’t come with any special features to ensure they stay secured to your mattress. Personally, I didn’t have much issue with the sheets staying put. The fitted sheet’s pocket is 15 inches, which isn’t the largest I’ve ever seen, but should fit most average height mattresses.
However, I did find several customer reviews on Brooklinen’s website that mentioned issues with the fitted sheet staying put, so I would recommend checking the height of your mattress before deciding on these sheets.
Are Brooklinen Linen Sheets Good for You?
Now that we’ve covered the material, feel, and features of these sheets, let’s go over my recommendations for who should try them, as well as some complaints.
Who should try Brooklinen Linen sheets
- If you’re a hot sleeper, the Brooklinen Linen Core sheet set is a great option for you. These sheets are super breathable, thanks to the loose weave of the linen.
- If you’re looking for a quality sheet to invest in, I think the Brooklinen Linen Core sheets are a good option. Linen is a very durable fabric that will only get softer over time the more you wash it.
- If you like a more laid back, shabby-chic aesthetic, you will likely love the look of these linen sheets. They have a natural, cozy, and perfectly-imperfect look that would compliment any boho or artsy bedroom aesthetic.
Brooklinen Linen sheets complaints
- These sheets are quite wrinkly and have a rumpled look. Even with ironing, these sheets won’t look like a shiny sateen or matte-finish percale. If you prefer that streamlined, hotel-bed look, linen sheets might not be right for you. Check out our best cotton sheets to see some sateen and percale choices.
- Similarly, if you prefer a smoother feel for your sheets, you might not like the more textured feeling of linen sheets.
- Linen is a high-quality material, meaning these sheets come at a high-quality price point. If you are a budget shopper, the price tag on the Brooklinen Linen sheets might be too high.

Color and pattern options are an important consideration when shopping for bedding. If you prefer a classic white, you’ll generally have a lot of options. But if you’re looking for something more colorful or bold, it can be challenging to find that perfect sheet set.
One of my favorite things about Brooklinen is the variety of color and pattern options they have for almost all their products, including sheets. As of the writing of this article, the Linen Core sheets are available in five neutral color options, called “Essentials,” as well as eight limited edition colors.
The “Essentials” include:
- White
- Haze (a light gray)
- Cream
- Charcoal Chambray
- Charcoal Chambray and White Stripe
And the Limited Edition colors include:
- Khaki Chambray
- Hydrangea Blue
- Petal
- Tangerine Pinstripe
- Terracotta
- Indigo
- Faded Lemon
- Seashell Pink
However, Brooklinen does change up which colors and patterns are offered, so this is just to give you an idea of what they offer. Depending when you are reading this article, these color options might no longer be available. If you see a Limited Edition color you love, go ahead and hit that “add to cart” button!

Brooklinen Linen Sheets Vs
To help you feel as sure as possible about the Linen Core sheets, let’s compare them to some other Brooklinen sheets, as well as a competitor.
Brooklinen Linen Core Sheets vs Brooklinen Classic Core Sheets
- The Brooklinen Classic Core sheets are a percale weave sheet with a 270-thread count. They are made with 100 percent long-staple cotton.
- I like these sheets because they have the light, crisp, and airy feel you want from percale sheets, but they are still quite soft and buttery at the same time.
- These best-seller classic percale sheets are also great for hot sleepers, as the percale weave is light and breathable. If you like the breathability of linen but not the feel, percale cotton sheets are a great option.

- These sheets have an ultra-smooth, satiny feel that’s typical of sateen. Despite being weightier and thicker than the percale, they still feel fairly breathable.
- The Luxe Sateen sheets are great for anyone who wants a luxurious, satin feel from their bedding.
