What are the Saatva Organic Sateen Sheets Made Of?
There are many different materials used to make sheets, such as bamboo, linen, or cotton sheets. But even within just one type of sheet material, there’s even more to consider, such as weave, thread count, and garment washing.
With that in mind, the Saatva Organic Sateen sheets are made with 100 percent organic cotton in a sateen weave. If you aren’t familiar with sateen, it’s a style of weave that generally uses three over, one under weave, instead of a one over one under weave. Essentially, that creates a thick, slick, and silky texture.
The cotton used in these sheets is Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified, as well as Fair Trade certified. Saatva also uses long-staple cotton in these sheets, which ensures a smoother, more durable sheet. These sheets have a 300 thread count, which is a good range to be in for a sateen sheet.
Additionally, the fitted sheet has deep pockets, which can accommodate a mattress up to 16 inches tall.
The Saatva Organic Sateen sheet set is available in nine different sizes: twin, twin XL, full, queen, king, California king, split king, queen Upper-Flex, and king Upper-Flex. (Upper-Flex style sheets are designed for use with the Saatva Solaire Upper-Flex mattress.)
Each set includes one flat sheet and one fitted sheet. The twin and twin XL sets come with one pillowcase, while the rest come with two. Additionally, the twin, twin XL, full, queen, and queen Upper-Flex come with standard size pillowcases, while all the king sizes come with king size pillowcases.
What Do the Saatva Organic Sateen Sheets Feel Like?
When I first took these sheets out of the box, I immediately felt they had that satiny, smooth, and structured sateen feel. However, I was surprised how light and airy they still felt, since sateen is often thicker than other styles of weave, such as percale.
I thought these sheets had a nice balance of breathability with the silky smooth, buttery soft feel you expect from sateen. I also thought these sheets had a nice look on the bed. They have a lustrous sheen and drape nicely across the bed.
Are the Saatva Organic Sateen Sheets Good for Hot Sleepers?
Sateen isn’t generally the best weave for breathability, as it is thicker than other styles, like percale sheets. However, I did find these sheets to be fairly breathable, for a sateen sheet. I wouldn’t say these are a top pick for hot sleepers, but if you want the satiny, smooth feel of sateen and some breathability, these sheets are a great choice.
Because these sheets are neither super heavy nor ultra-lightweight, I also think they’d make a great year-round option.

How Durable are Saatva Organic Sateen Sheets?
Overall, I would say these Saatva sheets feel quite durable. They’re high-quality sheets made with long-staple organic cotton. The long staples will prevent the sheets from pilling as easily and ensure that the sheets maintain their quality over time.
Do the Saatva Organic Sateen Sheets Stay on the Bed?
The Saatva Organic Sateen sheets have deep pockets on the fitted sheet to ensure that it will stay secured on the mattress. I found it to be effective and didn’t have any issues with them staying put.
Are Saatva Organic Sateen Sheets Good for You?
Now that we’ve covered what these sheets are made of and how they feel, let’s go over who they’ll be best suited for, as well as some of my complaints.
Who should try Saatva Organic Sateen sheets
- If you want a luxurious-looking sheet, the Saatva Organic Sateen sheets are a great option. They have a slight sheen and drape quite elegantly across the bed.
- If you’re a hot sleeper who wants sateen sheets, these should work well for you, as they have a satiny feel while maintaining some breathability.
- If you want a high-quality, long lasting sheet, these organic sheets made with long-staple cotton are an excellent choice.
Saatva Organic Sateen sheets complaints
- These sheets are only available in neutral colors, so if you are looking for sheets with bold colors or patterns, these may not be the best choice for you.
- If you are looking for a warming sateen sheet, these also may not be the best choice, as they are more light and breathable than many other sateen sheets.
- I also noticed that these sheets did wrinkle fairly easily, so if you want a truly wrinkle-free sheet, these may not be the best sheets for you.
