What is the Puffy Weighted Blanket Made Of?Â
There are a variety of different materials used to make weighted blankets, each providing a different feel, as well as pros and cons.
Cover: The Puffy weighted blanket features a quilted polyester minky cover. This cover can be unzipped and removed from the inner blanket. The cover attaches to the inner blanket with ties, like a duvet cover. It is machine washable, though it should be hung to dry.
Inner Blanket: The inner blanket of the Puffy weighted blanket features polyester minky fabric on one side and cotton on the other. It is filled with glass beads for weight. Additionally, this inner blanket uses gridded stitching to keep the glass beads evenly distributed throughout the blanket.
The inner blanket can also be machine washed or hand washed, and then hung to dry. However, it should not be washed with other items.
The entire Puffy weighted blanket is OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certified for safety. Additionally, the materials used in the blanket are hypoallergenic.
How Much Does the Puffy Weighted Blanket Weigh?
The Puffy weighted blanket is available in two different weight options: 15 and 20 pounds, as well as three different size options. The 15-pound blanket is available in a twin size (48 inches by 72 inches) or queen size (60 inches by 80 inches). The 20-pound blanket is available in a king size (80 inches by 87 inches).
When choosing a weighted blanket, it is best to choose one that is close to 10 percent of your own body weight. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, then a 15-pound blanket would be ideal for you.
What Does the Puffy Weighted Blanket Feel Like?Â
As I tested out the Puffy weighted blanket, I immediately loved the feel of the minky cover. It feels like a velour tracksuit — in the best way possible. I found the blanket to overall provide a cozy, warm, and cuddly vibe that I really enjoyed. I also thought the weight distribution felt even throughout the blanket, thanks to the gridded stitching utilized in this blanket’s construction.
Is the Puffy Weighted Blanket Good for Hot Sleepers?
I don’t think the Puffy weighted blanket is the best option for hot sleepers. In testing, I found it kept me quite warm, which is no surprise considering it is primarily made from a minky, microfiber polyester.

Overall, I thought the Puffy weighted blanket felt quite durable and high-quality. I really appreciate how both the cover and inner blanket can be washed (either machine or hand wash), as that will help to ensure the blanket remains clean and in good condition over time. Additionally, the use of gridded stitching to maintain even fill distribution will help maintain the blanket’s quality over time.
Is the Puffy Weighted Blanket Good for You?
Let’s go over who I think should try the Puffy weighted blanket, as well as some complaints.
Who Should Try The Puffy Weighted Blanket
- Cold sleepers looking for a warm blanket to cuddle up underneath will likely love the Puffy. I found it kept me nice and toasty.
- Sleepers who like a fuzzy blanket will love the texture of the minky cover on the Puffy weighted blanket.
- Shoppers who want a washable weighted blanket will appreciate that you can put the entire Puffy weighted blanket in the washer to keep it nice and clean.
Puffy Weighted Blanket Complaints
- Hot sleepers will likely find this blanket too warming for their tastes. It doesn’t allow for much airflow, nor does it have any cooling features.
- Sleepers who want a blanket heavier than 20 pounds won’t find a weight option that will work for them here. Similarly, if you want a 20-pound blanket in a smaller size option than a king, the Puffy might not be the best choice for you.
- The Puffy weighted blanket is only available in one color option: gray.

How does a weighted blanket work?
Weighted blankets utilize Deep Pressure Therapy (DPT) to provide a calming effect. Originally designed for therapeutic use by people with autism, anxiety, ADHD, etc., weighted blankets are now used popularly to achieve relaxation and better sleep. DPT is the same sensation we get from physical touch, like hugs or cuddling, that calms down our nervous system by increasing production of serotonin and melatonin and lowering production of cortisol.
Will a weighted blanket help me get a good night’s sleep?
It really depends. Some people find weighted blankets very helpful for relaxing and improving their overall sleep quality. Personally, I prefer to use mine for napping or winding down after work, rather than for sleeping underneath all night. It all comes down to personal preference.
