In this review, I’ll be comparing two mattresses from two very popular companies known for their foam: Nectar Sleep and Tempur-Pedic. I’ll specifically be looking at the original Nectar Mattress and the TEMPUR-Adapt mattress. Although they both feature thick layers of pressure-relieving foam, they have quite a few differences and may appeal to different people.
So how do you know which memory foam mattress is the one of your dreams? That’s where I come in. I’m going to compare various components of both of them, from their constructions to their firmness levels, to help you determine which one’s best for you.
Read on for our full comparison or skip down to my review summary if you’re in a hurry.

Nectar vs TEMPUR-Adapt: Which is Better for You?
Depending on components like your body weight, preferred sleeping position, and whether or not you sleep with a partner or pet, one of these mattresses may suit your needs better than the other. Take a look at some of my recommendations below.
Who Should Buy the Nectar
- If you like that doughy, soft foam feel in a bed, the Nectar is a good choice. The foam can also help with sensitive joints.
- I think combination sleepers will like this mattress as it’s a little bit more responsive and easier to move around on than the TEMPUR-Adapt.
- Budget shoppers should really appreciate the Nectar’s affordable price.

Who Should Buy the TEMPUR-Adapt
- If you like a slightly firmer, slower-moving foam feeling, then the TEMPUR-Adapt should be right up your alley. It’s also great for pressure relief.
- Couples or anyone who wakes up easily by movement should enjoy the stellar motion isolation this bed offers.
- Sleepers looking for the perk of free white glove delivery should go for the TEMPUR-Adapt. This means specialists will set the decompressed bed up in your room of choice for you and take away your old mattress for free. No unboxing required!

Nectar vs TEMPUR-Adapt: Similarities and Differences
Let’s take a look at the key similarities and differences between these two beds. I’d also recommend looking at our full Nectar mattress review and Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Adapt mattress review for more detailed information.
Main Similarities
- As mentioned, they’re both made of all foam and offer some great pressure relief and cushioning.
- They’re both nice choices for back sleepers, side sleepers, and sleepers with pain.
- They both do a good job isolating motion, so you shouldn’t be disturbed by a restless partner or pet on the other side of the bed while you’re sleeping.
- They’re both billed as their brand’s classic models.
Differences
- The TEMPUR-Adapt comes with free white glove delivery, so it’s never compressed in a box. Workers set it up fully formed, while the Nectar will arrive at your door compressed in a box. You’ll have to set the Nectar up and give it a few days to completely take its shape and release any off-gassing smells.
- The TEMPUR-Adapt comes in a medium all-foam option or a medium hybrid mattress option with spring coils. Both are the same price. The Nectar has a hybrid model for a slightly higher cost.
- Although they’re both all-foam mattresses, I’d say the Nectar has softer and faster moving foam, while the TEMPUR-Adapt has that classic slow, quicksand-like foam.
- The Nectar is quite a bit less expensive than the TEMPUR-Adapt and is considered a true budget-option. Despite a lower price tag, it comes with a longer trial and warranty period than the TEMPUR-Adapt — Nectar offers a forever warranty.

Nectar and TEMPUR-Adapt Mattress Feel Comparison
Now let’s talk about how these beds feel. A mattress will feel different to you depending on your body type, weight, shape, and preferred sleeping position.
Nectar
I gave the Nectar a 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale. The industry standard for medium-firm is a 6.5 out of 10, so it has a slightly softer feel. The top foam layers conform around pressure points, which is great for back and side sleepers.
Overall, I think the Nectar has a medium-soft feel. I think it’d work really well for sleepers with joint pain wanting some sinkage.
TEMPUR-Adapt
I gave the Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Adapt a 6.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale, so it’s a true medium-firm mattress. Sleepers will really sink into its foam layers.
Overall, I think the TEMPUR-Adapt could feel softer the longer you lay on it since it does have the slower-moving foam that absorbs body heat. This material is great for pressure relief.
Comparing What it’s Like to Sleep on the Nectar and TEMPUR-Adapt
As mentioned earlier, your body type and sleep style will determine how a mattress feels to you. So, let’s go through how each bed could feel for the following sleepers:
Nectar
Back — Back sleepers should feel the memory foam layers conforming beneath them, offering excellent pressure relief.
Side — Side sleepers should like the sinkage they’ll feel around their pressure points.
Stomach — Some lightweight stomach sleepers weighing under 130 pounds could like this bed. However, I think most stomach sleepers are going to want a more firm mattress to elevate their hips and promote spinal alignment.
Body Weight — If you’re a lighter sleeper, a mattress is going to feel firmer to you than a sleeper who’s heavier than you. Conversely, if you’re a heavier sleeper, a mattress is going to feel softer to you. I don’t think this will be the best fit for heavier sleepers weighing over 250 pounds and recommend they look for a more supportive mattress. Our roundup of favorite mattresses for heavy people is a great place to look for more options.

TEMPUR-Adapt
Back — The TEMPUR-Adapt is a great match for back sleepers. It’ll offer a stellar combination of support and pressure relief.
Side — Side sleepers looking for deep pressure relief should be happy on this mattress.
Stomach — I think stomach sleepers weighing over 130 pounds won’t like this bed since their hips may sink in and cause their spine to dip out of alignment, which could cause pain in the future. I’d recommend going for a more firm mattress instead.
Body Weight — As noted earlier, if you’re a lightweight sleeper, this mattress will feel a bit firmer, and if you’re heavier, it will feel a bit softer. Similarly to the Nectar, I don’t think it’s the best fit for heavier sleepers and would steer them towards a more supportive bed, like a hybrid or innerspring mattress.

Comparing Nectar and TEMPUR-Adapt Mattress Materials
Now that we’ve gone over the firmness and feel of these beds, let’s go over their layers to see the full construction of each mattress. I want to note both the Nectar’s and Tempur-Pedic’s foams are CertiPUR-US® Certified, which means they’re free of harmful chemicals, heavy metals, and ozone depleters.
Nectar
Cover — The Nectar has a shift-resistant mattress cover with handles for easy moving and a quilted cooling cover as its top layer, which is heat wicking and promotes airflow. It’s made from a blend of polyester and nylon.
Comfort Layer — Next up is two inches of gel memory foam, which brings pressure relief and helps dissipate body heat.
Transition Layer — Then there’s a 4-inch dynamic adjusting foam layer to help promote contouring.
Support Layer — The Nectar has a final layer of 6-inch high-density foam that stabilizes the bed.

TEMPUR-Adapt
Cover – The TEMPUR-Adapt has a cool-to-the-touch cover that’s made from a blend of polyester, polyethylene, and spandex. it has a smooth, silky feel.
Comfort Layer – Next up is about an inch and a half of the company’s proprietary TEMPUR-ES® material foam, which allows for deep pressure relief.
Transition Layer – The TEMPUR-Adapt then has an inch and a half of their original TEMPUR® material support foam.
Base Layer – It has a final two layers of thick high-density poly foam. This brings support and durability to the mattress.

Nectar vs. TEMPUR-Adapt: Best Qualities
So, which is the best mattress for you? Let’s go over some of my favorite features of each bed.

- Back sleepers and side sleepers should feel really comfortable on the cushy foams, especially those with sensitive joins or back pain.
- Nectar offers a really impressive and lengthy sleep trial period and lifetime warranty.

Tempur-Pedic Sleepopolis Customer Service Rating

Comparing Other Models from Nectar and Tempur-Pedic
Nectar and Tempur-Pedic offer a few more mattress models and sleep products than these two. I’ll go over their popular mattress siblings below. You can also check out our full comparisons of the Nectar all-foam models, Nectar hybrid models, and the Tempur-Pedic mattresses.
Nectar Premier Copper
- The all-foam Nectar Premier Copper is firmer than the Nectar and has slower-moving foams, so it’s more similar in feel to the TEMPUR-Adapt.
- Hot sleepers should especially like the Premier Copper mattress and its cooling components to help them achieve the best sleep, like its breathable cover and copper-infused foam.
- The Nectar Premier Copper mattress is more expensive than the Nectar and has a taller profile.
- This foam bed is built to have less motion transfer and stronger edge support.

The cooling technology in this mattress sets it apart. A lot of memory foam mattresses trap body heat and sleep hot, while the Nectar Premier Copper works to fix this issue, and sleeps cooler than any other mattress in the Nectar Sleep all-foam line.
